We have eaten at this restaurant the past two years we have been to Myrtle Beach. Last year we froze to death while we were eating, so this year we were hoping for some improvement. We were sadly disappointed. When we arrived to the restaurant on 6/24/08, it was almost 5:00 PM. The place was busy but there were tables open. However, we had to wait and wait before any of the waiters/waitresses even asked us (or even looked up at us) if we wanted to be seated. Several walked right past us and looked at us, but then continued on. Finally, one of the waiters asked if we had been helped yet and he was told a resounding "NO!" Eventually, he did get us seated. After we were seated, we again waited and waited for someone to tell us who our waiter/waitress was. We almost got up and left, however another of the waitresses asked us for our drink order and took our meal order. She said that she was not our waitress but "Ebony???" was She also told us that she would do this for us so we would not have to sit and wait anymore than we already had. I love a good hamburger and french fries - in fact one could say that it is my all time favorite meal. However, we will not be returning to this restaurant again. I can understand having to wait and wait if there were no other tables available or a long line waiting to get in - but we were the only ones in line and there were tables open. I am not one to normally complain about service at a restaurant. But this one time really pushed all the wrong buttons. Sorry River City Cafe - but you lost my business for good.

We eat here every time we go to the beach! And we love it. I have even thought of making the long drive just to go eat there. I went a few weeks ago and had to buy extra food to take back to my husband in tennessee just because he loves it so much! I suggest the onion ring they will fill you up alone!

We went here looking for a good burger and found it. The atmosphere is kind of fun with graffiti and license plates covering every inch of the walls. There baskets of peanuts in the shell are a nice touch. The burgers were big and satisfying. My son had a battered and fried mahi-mahi sandwich which was huge and surprising good. The onion rings were big and greasy like they should be. The service was good, but the place wasn't very crowded. Be advised that meter parking is expensive. (The meters take credit cards.) The waiter advised me to park on a grassy strip across the street to beat the meters.

What a cool place to eat! There are coupons in the magazines to make your burger a platter for $5.49. Almost all of us did that, but we didn't all need to. There are SO many fries on a platter, that 2 of us easily could have shared! We also ordered the onion bloom, and it was better than any I'd ever had. We ate outside overlooking the intercoastal waterway. With license plates on the walls and fun music playing, the grown ups had as much fun as the kids. My 20 year old niece said this was her favorite restaurant of all we visited in Myrtle Beach. I would ABSOLUTELY go here again and again. The little play area in front was great for the kids...even though all 7 of us were seated almost immediately. Great food, great price for the quanity.

Wow! This place has great food! I had the grilled grouper sandwich that was divine. My children loved the bacon cheddar burgers with the delicious fries. The wings are also wonderful. If you are looking for a casual, inexpensive place to eat with your family, look no further. The atmosphere is great too. My children thought it was fabulous that they could write their names on the walls and throw their peanut shells on the floor.

River City Cafe is GREAT!! We have been there about three times. There burgers are great!! The service is always okay or good depending on which waiter you get and which one of the restaurants you go to. We have ate at the one in Barefoot Landing and on the ocean. I suggest you try this place if you are looking for a place with good burgers!

Burgers are done on a flat fry-pan grill, not a BBQ grill and are tasty but buns get soggy quickly from the grease. French fries are a disgrace. They are limp piles of grease. Obviously, they have not been blanched before a final fry. You get three onion rings - they are big - in an order but the batter has no flavor and the onion has no zing. This place has really gone downhill since we started going there 10 years ago.

If your looking for good food don't go here... Out of a party of 7 only 2 people thought the food was good. The fries were a soggy pile of grease, and the onion rings were way too big and were also greasy. Maybe another River City Cafe would be better, but I'm not going to take the chance to try this one again. There are to many good restaurants to waste your time here.

We were there during the week when not busy. BBQ sandwich, fries, and cole slaw was excellent and prices were excellent! Very casual and they still smoke in restaurants, but that's the way it is in South Carolina! Their peanuts are free, fresh, and the best! Enjoyed it!

Our party consisted of 6 adults, and 1 child (5). Everybody ordered a Burger platter I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich platter. The chicken was way below average it was big, and thick the bun was falling apart by the time it reached the table. The taste was ok. The onion rings were about as round as a baseball, and greasy. The Fries were nothing but a soggy grease pile. We were very disapointed with everything. Yes we should have complined, but after traveling several hours we were tired, and hungry so we tolerated it. Save your money maybe a different River City Cafe would be good, but our experience sucked, and we WON'T go back......
