They were cleaning with a windex looking spray on the Windows over the food. She then used the same paper towel to clean the dust from under the Windows. From where I sat you could see the spray and the dust landing on the food. The cottage cheese tasted old and close to spoiled. A lady came out and tasted it while standing at the food and yelled loud enough to be heard at the tables "ain't nothin the matter with this". It was also so cold that the eggs from the buffet got cold before you could finish them.

Just OK. Some of it was too salty to eat, especially the chicken and dumplings. Was why we went there after going there last year. Tuesday was chicken livers and gizzards day. WAY overcooked, but I guess better than undercooked. Best thing was the price. So if you're really hungry and want a lot of average food to chow down, this is you're place.

On each visit over the past 20 years [there have been many]they have provided me with a large selection of the freshest, most expertly prepared food on the Grand Strand. If there is anything any better, as an area local, I would find it and I haven't.

Great selection of food. Fried chicken, pork, mac and cheese, fish, shrimp and greens were wonderful. And the cobbler can't be beat! We make a point to eat here at least every week of our vacation.

We arrived at the restaurant at approximately 7:15 pm. Of course were seated immediately. We then waited ten minutes before the waitress came to take our drink order. I was on the way to ask if someone was waiting the area, when she appeared. We had the buffet, which was very poor quality. Everything tasted as though left from lunch, under the heat lamps. The sign said crab cakes on Wednesday. My wife asked about these, since we noticed this on the sign, before deciding to eat here. She was told that was for lunch, but had deviled crab tonight. That is false advertising, since the sign is electronically controlled and programmable. When we paid the bill, it was $32.09 and my wife had water. This was utterly ridiculous for the food quality. They MUST be flattering themselves with this price. As in numerous times in the past, the tea, as such, was included in the price. We have eaten numerous times in the past and were pleased with the food quality and price. However, that is not the case this time. We will NOT be back for this poor service and overpriced poor food quality!

I have eaten at this restaurant for the past twenty years or so. I have never experienced such rude treatment from a cashier before this visit. Last month when we were down we had dinner there at the 4 to five early bird special time. We got there about ten after four p.m today. Last month when eating the early bird special the tea was included so again we got the same thing, otherwise usually just get water. The tea was blah tasting so we asked the waitress if we could switch to coke since we had paid for teas already after hearing the cashier explain to a customer who was paying their bill that they stopped the tea included about two weeks ago. My daugher gets up to pay the bill and was charged 4.50 for two cokes. The coke didn't even taste like coke more like diet shasta. I questioned it after the bill came to 34.52 . She charged nine dollars for the two of us just for drinks. We had not been informed they would have to charge extra because when I asked could we switch to coke instead of tea, the waitress said "sure." The cashier was very unprofessional and ugly in her handling of this matter, therefore has lost me as a customer. The food is great the first time one goes and those who like to gorge thinks it is wonderful. I will never go back.

Really great food!!! My husband and I have been meaning to eat here for several years now, but every time we were in the area, it was packed and we didn't want to have to wait. We lucked up this morning and got there right when it opened, got parking right up front, and were seated right away. All of the food I tried, you could tell was home-cooked and was delicious!!! Will definitely be going back!!!

I find it amazing that you can get such wonderful reviews and then one random person gives such a horrible review. Almost like they are talking about a different place. I have been there several times and we drive from Chas to Murrels just to eat there. I would recommend this to anyone. Some people just can't be satisfied.oh well, keep up the good work!!

We were in Myrtle Beach in June. I asked a local about a good place to eat that isn't a tourist trap. She mentioned Prosser's. It was absolutely awesome food with a super friendly staff. I do recommend getting there early to beat the crowd. Not only that, with it not being in Myrtle Beach you don't have to pay those crazy tax rates.

We ate here on recommendation from a local gentleman when I asked him about a restaurant the locals like to eat. We live in a vacation community and never eat at the "tourist traps". We thoroughly enjoyed Prossers dinner buffet and have made it a point to eat there every time we are at Ocean Lakes. We also have recommended Prossers to several other people. Haven't tried the breakfast yet, but I imagine it is great as well. The entire staff is very accomodating and friendly. Truly a down home "fish house" atmosphere with no reason to leave hungry !! If you are looking for a fancy, new, classy joint, then open up your wallet, there are many of those all along the beach.

There is a lot of car break ins at this establishment. The owners can only offer condolenses and point to the disclaimer: not responsible for any damage or theft to your vehicle. The food was not so great. While we were there two cars were broken into. In the middle of the day during their peak hours and no one saw anything. How did they break in? They used a pry bar or screw driver and broke the side glass and took what they could. I found out the crime rate in this area is more than any other place at the beach. BEWARE if you eat at this bbq place you take a BIG CHANCE.

This place was horrible! My son and I stopped in on our way home from Mrytle Beach. Although from Charleston, SC I wanted to stop at one more restuarant on the way home for seafood. It was the day before Thanksgiving and crabcakes was the special. My son and I looked at the buffet and decided to try it. Our server brought our first round of beverages and the check. She was never seen again, not even for a tea re-fill. My son (11 years old) was charged the adult price $8.30. He had two bites of a wet fried chicken and the top to a biscuit, that was all he could bare. I had Northern style BBQ which was hard enough to eat since I was hopeing for Sourthern style and a crabcake full of filler and fried hard. When we left I voiced my opinion to the cashier, she never even made eye contact with me, asked my how old my son was. I told her 11, she swiped my card, handed it back to me and asked if she could help the next person in line! I was appauled. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If the parking lot is full it means the service is going to be horrible because they are not staffed to handle it. The food is even worst! I really think the locals only go because they don't know there's better out there.

Place is just average. Believe my review. It's not horrible or anything but the food is just average. The place is kinda gross inside, old and dirty looking. The food is just laying in tins and nothing is labeled, you have no clue what some of the things are. The only reason this place gets such high reviews is because for the money you can eat yourself into a coma, and not spend a fortune. But if it wasn't for the value this place would probably be all below average ratings. TRUTH.

We are locals and have frequented many of the restaurants. This is our over-all comfort food favorite especially for lunch. Great tasting food buffet with all of your favorites. Pricing is cheap, service is always great even though they are always so busy. We often take visiting family and friend's there for lunch and they always enjoy themselves and definitely look forward to coming back. This is one of those places you can proudly take company out to eat if you are on a budget, but not appear as though you are because the food is just so good.

Awesome restaurant!! My friend and I were on our final day of a 1 week vacation in Myrtle Beach and wanted to have dinner at a place with a Southern Cusine and flair. Prosser's was suggested by a woman in the ticket booth at the Myrtle Beach State Park. Upon arriving at Prossers on a Thursday evening we were immediately seated. Our friendly waitress Cynthia, prompltly attended to us and explained how things worked at Prossers. After sipping some tall glasses of sweet tea we headed over the the buffet for the best Southern fair I have ever tasted. Fried chicken, collard greens, peach cobbler, pulled pork.... should I go on. The food was fresh, clean and mouth watering good. The best thing was the price. Dinner was very affordable for an all you can eat buffet. We were shy but we did go back a second time. This is a place that you must visit to get a real feel of local food if you are visiting the Myrtle Beach area.

I asked him about the restaurant and he began raving about it, so my partner and I went for Sunday lunch and it was great. It was busy but we were seated timely. The buffet had a large variety of veggies and meats.(Good collard greens) I will be going back on my next vacation at Surfside.

This restaurant is one of my favorite experiences in the South. You pull up to a shack with a swamp backdrop, and by the time you reach the screen door you smell the fried chicken cooking. You go into an open dining room and are greated immediately. Everyone is very friendly. They keep your glass full of sweet tea, and your belly full of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. The pulled pork is also delicious if your into vinegar based sauce, and all of the sides are classic southern cuisine. Coming from Wisconsin this was a real treat, and I have the fondest memories of my experience there.

Firstly, please understand this isn't a 'barbecue' restaurant, really. What it is is a wonderful 'old time' southern buffet. This is the kind of food you eat at your Aunt's house in Alabama on a Sunday (as per my husband, who's from Mobile and loved this place.) If you like 'down home' food, then this is the place for you. Sure they have pulled pork. With sauce on the side. But that isn't the reason to go. The reason to go is the extensive and delicious buffett of various foods put before you. We went back 3 different days, Once for lunch and once for Sunday Dinner (lunch) and another for dinner. They had for lunch alone: chicken and rice, mashed potatoes, sweet potato cassarole, green beans, collards, rice, fried chicken, fried catfish, fried flounder, baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, corn, bisquits, peach cobbler for dessert, and banana pudding. And a salad bar... there were other things. I just don't remember them all. We'd go back. I'm hungry thinking about it.

I have read all the positive reviews for Prossers and last year arrived when they were closed. This year we made sure to arrive during hours on a Friday night. While the price is right, the food was OK at best. Fried chicken was good but the sea food was not prepared properly. Nothing was bad, but I went away thinking I doubt I'll ever get that feeling that I need to eat there again.

I have to be careful in this rating. Here you'll find a traditional working mans or womans Southern style cafeteria with Good food at good prices. At times very busy. Our young waitress was outstanding. If its a phoney ambience, inferior quality, foolish pricing you prefer.....then this not the place for you.

Myrtle areas best kept secret. Had the buffet and we were 25 minutes early for lunch. They hustled and got the buffet out early for us. That is how you keep customers coming back as we certainly shall. We will also recommend Prosser's to anyone that we know is visiting the area. Easy to get to, too :) Food was FANTASTIC!!! The only downside was they were out of t-shirts.

Can't say enough good about Prosser's...fantastic!!! Best B-B-Q I've had in NC or SC (IMHO) in 25+ years...get some to take home. Peruse the menu B4 you assume to get the Buffet. They have incredible values in every category...breakfast (my favorite), Lunch or Dinner. I've lived here for 6 years and have yet to find a better 'comfort/value' restaurant. The owners and staff really care about their customers...and I'm proud to call Mr & Mrs. "P", my neighbors ;-) Hello Zeke!

We're at Surfside for a week each year. I don't eat anywhere else that's as good as this place during our stay! I discovered Prosser's by accident several years ago. Glad I did. I have a good sized family and we eat there heavy around 12:30-1pm and fill ourselves. Have to unbutton the pants to get back into the car afterwards. Southern dishes at their best. Whoever is cooking this stuff needs to get their own television show. FANTASTIC !!! I'm embarrassed I didn't know they served breakfast. I'll be docking my butt there in 2010 for that !!!!!!

We visit this place at least 2-3 times in a weeks vacation. We also recommend to our friends coming down.

Don't know why anyone would want to go anywhere else on the inlet. Great lunch buffet with the best crab cakes I've eaten at MB. Crispy fried chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, sweet potato caserole, delicious pork BBQ with vinegary sauce, which we like best rather than a sweet sauce like most restautants....and much more. Everything is homemade including peach cobler and banana pudding...all for $7.50 including drink. Will try the seafood buffet on Thurs., Fri., or Sat for $12.95. Best kept secret on MB. Glad we are staying close by in Garden City Beach.

I've heard really good reviews, so I brought my family. Big mistake. For one thing the buffet is located in a cramped area. BBQ was good. Seafood needs some help. $13 is a little to high for the food that was available. I was very emabarrassed. I should have taken them to Ryans in Surfside. No seafood, but excellent food and service.

Prosser's is one of the best kept secrets on the Grand Strand. It has all the great food items found on the big buffets and everything tastes just great. The fried oysters, scallops, and shrimp are terrific and the yam souffle is one of the best I have tasted. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but, it's what's inside that counts!

Once you get in the door it is a rather large place they have lot of seating and the buffet is a pretty good size buffet, it is the best BBQ I have honestly ever had. I love Prosser's! I eat there every time I'm in town. The food is always good and seasoned just right. I was there all summer and ate there at least 2-3 times a week. Actually I have to confess, I have eaten there twice in one day.

There are only a couple of suggestions I would make, one is with the name. I would drop the BBQ and Pig off the signs and put Prosser's Buffet. Many people told me they passed up Prosser's because they thought it was only a BBQ place.

The other suggestion is; I would love to see you add a good yellow squash casserole to the menu.

My hat's off to the cooks! They are wonderful!

The fried chicklen, sweet potatoes, collard greens, biscuts, pulled pork, fried oysters, where outstanding. Everthing was make your tongue slap your brains out good!! I will gladly drive all the way down to Murrells Inlet to eat here anytime. Forget about all those fancy buffetts and come down to Prosser's BQ

Went to prosser's to meet a number of women friends for breakfast.... Three of us got there first and we were not sure just how many of us would be there... The hostess asked us to wait outside, I have never been asked to wait outside when a restaurant was not full at all.. So the three of us waited outside and then we were asked to move again as we were reading the menu outside... The hostess had to empty the cig. basket outside... Finally we went back in and asked to be seated at a table for six... Well some of our friends came in and we asked to move to a larger table..... And more friends came in and we again moved to a larger table... I was glad for we moved into the second room and it was quieter in that room. We had the best server.. She was fun and kept us laughing... We had our breakfast.... The bacon I had was the best ..... Crisp and not greasy.... On the whole we all had a good meal... And I would go back.....

Visiting Myrtle Beach first time in 9 years(April 2009) and asked a local for a great restaurant with terrific food for the money. She immediately said Prosser's at Murrells Inlet. My husband and I were raised on vinegar-based barbecue(Carolinians by blood) and couldn't believe they served this and returned the next night to enjoy their wonderful buffet of seafood, chicken, barbecue, and oh so many vegetables, desserts. etc. Everyone was so nice. We'll be returning much sooner next time and haven't decided if we should tell our friends from here or let Prosser's be our little secret.. Ha ha

On our second trip back in a week,i noticed 3 roaches crawling around the serving trays at the buffet....that was it for me,no more going back. The place has a "down home" look to it,not spic and span, not really dirty, but it obviously has a problem in the restaurant

We love the resturant and the food and the atmosphere. But when a roach crawled on the plate my husband was eating off of it was over. Well i tried to speak to the hostess she was nice but the little cashier was cold about it.When i told her what happened she said thats just the south and how it is.She also told about the incident that happened to her while she was cutting lettuce one crawled across the lettuce and had to throw it away, Oh my GOD I could not believe it my husband just walked out sick to his stomach. We also so had to pay full price for the meal. We were shocked we live in the south and i don't have roaches. So to anyone who reads this "no we don't "Just Prossers. If i could have thought of anything else at that moment i would of told her i live here! I know thats a lie . Well needless to say we did not go back!!

Every time we return to Myrtle Beach we plan at least one meal at Prosser's Buffet Restaurant. I am aware that Prosser's sells their BBQ sauce in some of the local grocery stores in and around the Murrells Inlet area, but I am not local. Does Prosser's offer an online service for purchases and shipping of their Williamsburg Style BBQ Sauce? I would like to purchase 2 of the half-gallons for our next planned neighborhood BBQ cookout.

Don't miss the opportunity to eat some really good vinegar-base BBQ! Home cooked country food and vegetables, great little buffet! This will be a regular eating spot for our family. We'll be sure to take visiting family and friends to Prossers! Try it! You won't be disappointed!

If you like great country cooking; prossers is the place! Just went there for the second time a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious. And what a great value, my girlfriend and I both ate the bar with one water and one tea and the bill was $14. You can't beat that with a stick!! All the food is great, especially the sweet potatoes, collard greens, etc, well anything on the bar is great! Prossers will definately be a "must stop" for myself each trip to myrtle beach.

my wife and had never heard of this restaurant before and we have been going to myrtle beach oncea year for a long time we had some friends from ourhome town told us to try it and we found it the best place we ever eaten on the grand strand. food was outstanding and we coudln't beleive the price it was so much lower than the rest down there. we are planning to go back agian this spring and PROSSERS will be our first and maybe our only restaurant to visit during our stay. we will be camping and will do some meals at the campground.

My family and I love this place. It is a local's secret (no secret if you drive by and see the packed parking lot but there is lot's of space inside). We eat lunch here often and the food is true southern comfort. The staff is nice and friendly. As a local, it is one of the best places to eat lunch in Murrells Inlet and the price is fantastic.

Prossers BBQ is without a doubt the best home cooked meal on the grand strand...with the lowest prices. Out side of the long line waiting to fix a plate on Sundays and the same long line to pay your bill to leave then I say they are number 1.

For your money or your taste buds Prosser's is the place to be. They cook like my mom use to, and they really know how to cook seafood, nice and juicy not overcooked and hard like a lot of places. We look forward to going every time we are at the beach. We give it an A++++++++++++. Cleveland, NC

Noticed the full parking lot when passing by and inquired about the serving hours. Had lunch and dinner last fall and enjoyed the buffet very much. Taking our friends there this week while visiting Murrells Inlet on vacation.

This used to be one of the things I looked forward to on our trips to MB. We made the mistake of walking in right at 2 and did not notice the closed sign, after all it is small. We were told to take a seat but there would not be additional food added to the buffett. No problem there was plenty. The problem started when a loud mouth waitress came over and said"what part of closed don't they understand" for the entire resturant to hear. Because I love the food I stayed but I did not enjoy it. If the lady at the front had just said folks we are closed but will open tomorrow at 11 that would have been fine. That does it for me I will stick to the Country Barn in Darlington truly the best buffett in SC.

I go to Myrtle usually twice per year, One of which is a girls trip to Myrtle Beach. My mom, and sisters and I I have eaten at Prosser's twice and loved it both times. I wish we had found it before now. I know you have to get there early, because that place is not a secret and it fills up very quickly, and for good reason, the food and atmosphere are fantastic. I can not tell you a favorite food, because I love it all!! I plan to take my family there Thanksgiving week. If you're in the area you must eat at Prosser's.

My husband and I are orginally from South Carolina but don't live there anymore. We went on vacation and stayed at my parent's condo in Surfside Beach and decided to take the plunge and visit Prosser's at least once. My parents had told us how wonderful it was and how cheap it was in price ($5.95 for lunch). We took our two children with us and although they are rather picky, they (and my husband and I) thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken gizzards and livers as well as the meatloaf were fantastic. I could have made a meal just on those two items. We loved the barbeque, fried crabcakes, fried chicken, fried fish, collards, macaroni & cheese, green beans, banana pudding, etc. Our children begged us to go again so we went two days later for lunch and the meat items had changed but we did not complain.

The thing that we noticed right away was that the little parking lot was crowded (for good reason) and alot of construction workers were there which to me always indicates a good deal and good food.

We walked out with bulging tummies and groaned and moaned but only because it was so good and we were so full!!!!

A restaurant with the best home cooking away from home. It is truly enjoyable. The personnel/staff were very cordial. If you want a truly good meal at a very reasonable price, this is the restaurant for you. They have the best cooks around. Most importantly, the food is not greasy. The best in Murrell's Inlet. We will be back.
