Review: The most incredible ribs we have ever tasted! We went there 2 years ago and since then have made it our mission to find ribs as good as pig out since we live in Virginia and cannot stop by for a Pig Out treat... we absolutely no success. Nothing we have tried comes even close.

Review: In order or the ratings scale provided above:
Quality of Food Served: Poor. Tasteless food. The "bbq" was certainly not anything that reminded me of actual barbecue.
Level of Service Provided: Below average. We were served promptly, but when we got our food we didn't see another employee...at all. We ate and had absolutely no one ask how everything was or if we needed anything. Even when leaving there was no one asking us how things were or wishing us a nice day.
Atmosphere or Restaurant: Average. I have no problems with the atmosphere. It's a neat little place. Too bad they can't cook good barbecue.
Value for the Money: Average. Prices seemed fairly standard for the area.
Length of Time to be Seated: Excellent. There were no other customers in the place (no big surprise judging by the quality of the food) so we were able to order at the counter and sit very promptly.
Noise Level of Restaurant: Average. Again, there were no customers inside so the noise level was very acceptable.

Review: This is my family’s favorite place to eat. I read some of the poor reviews about Pig Out and could not believe what I was reading. We own a condo down in NC and make it a point to eat here several times during our visits. We’ve taken multiple other families to Pig Out. Each one raves about the food. Hooray for good BBQ! Booo to snooty people from Jacksonville FL.

Review: The menu says "Hickory Smoked BBQ". I say they lie.
I got a combo of 3 so that I could sample different things. My fiance got a chopped BBQ chicken sandwich..
While we waited we sampled the four (4) sauces provided on the table. None of them struck my fancy. It seemed as though the guy was trying to really come up with something unique...he did..
When I got my plate the portions were decent for a $13 lunch. I got 4-5 oz of pulled pork, a BBQ chicken thigh, and a 3 bone back rib..
The pork was tossed in sauce...which always makes me nervous. I normally figure that if pulled pork is soaked in sauce then it must not have flavor on it's own. I immediately looked at the darker, outside pieces that were in my pork to see the smoke ring. There was NO smoke ring...wait a minute...I thought the menu said "Hickory Smoked BBQ"? Anyway...I ate it and the sauce did add flavor...which was a good thing because the pork had no smoke flavor nor had it been seasoned before cooking..
So I moved on to the ribs & chicken. I pulled a bone out of the rib...yes...like the other review said, It just fell off the bone. This is all well and good if you don't know BBQ. And if you think this is a good thing, allow me to educate you. If a pork rib falls apart (typically called "falling off the bone"), it is OVERCOOKED! Sorry, but the truth is that ribs should pull part at the meat between the bones with the bone still attached...or at least part of the meat should hang onto the bone. .
The taste of the ribs was mostly sauce...as was the chicken. Like the pork, neither of these had a smoke ring either. In addition to not having a smoke ring they really didn't have much of a dark color on the outside at all...this scared me alot. I flipped my piece of chicken over and inspected the underside of the thigh. Two things confirmed my fear. On the bottom there was a small flap of meat/fat that I picked up and looked under...it was absolutely colorless (the same as you would find with a boiled piece of chicken). The other thing I noticed was on the underside of the actual bones of the thigh...it had the small black 'stuff' that generally cooks out of chicken bones when you boil it. This would also go along with my feelings of the back ribs as well...I also felt they had been boiled..
So this place that clearly says "Hickory Smoked BBQ" is boiling their chicken and ribs and not smoking their meat at all..
I stood at the front counter for a few minutes before leaving while my fiance went to wash up. I was waiting for someone (anyone) to ask how our meal was. I wasn't going to be rude, but I WAS going to ask what they were cooking on just to see what they would say. Although there were two men standing behind the counter neither of them asked how our meal was...no one asked us that question during our entire visit. We were the ONLY customers in the building so you'd think we might get some attention or concern shown to us...nope...wrong..
Anyway...to confirm my suspicions (really no suspicion at all as I KNOW what is going on in that place) we drove around to the back of the building for one final piece of evidence...THERE IS NO WOOD PILE OUT BACK...not even a singular log..
Nope...not on my list of places to visit again..
Bad food in BBQ terms. Misleading menu that lies about the method of cooking in ethical terms

Review: My husband and 2 year old tried to order take out last week during our vacation to NMB, and they wouldn't serve us. They gave no reason, other than the manager said no. Very strange. We found a backup in Myrtle Beach called Little Pigs and it was excellent.

Review: The 3 item sampler platter (choose 3 of ribs/pulled pork/chicken/catfish/etc. +2 sides) is enough to feed 2 and costs ~$14. Pig out has the best bbq of any of the places on the grand strand. The service is friendly and relatively quick. It is slightly more expensive in terms of meat/$, but the quality is by far the best. Their dry rub ribs are awesome and the sauces perfectly complement the meat, no matter what style you like (mustard, vinegar, tomato). I prefer a drier pulled pork, but the flavor is excellent for classic q. I eat there every time I have an excuse to go to little river.

Review: Outstanding!!! I have taken many out of state customers there for lunch, and they loved the place. Great to have a place close by that has traditional southern BBQ. Reminds me of the old BBQ houses in eastern NC where I grew up. They have a variety of menu items as well.Try the fried corn on the cobb and brunswick stew.

Review: Food was better than great espically the pig out wings. The wings are the best I have ever had. Also the bbq is cooked just right. Dont miss this little hidden secret. Its laid back country charm makes you feel right at home. I was there in June and the temperature in the restaurant was very cool. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Review: We are new to this area and new to SC BBQ. The establishment has a nice "down home" feel, the quality is very good and love the Red Slaw and the BBQ Beans!
Prices are reasonable and service always good. We go here regularly for take-outs too.

Review: Being a local, I had to go all the way to Myrtle Beach to get good home-cooked BBQ. This is a breath of fresh air. The BBQ is outstanding and the personal 'at home' feeling you get when there just adds to the experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Review: A rustic little place quite typical of a barbeque establishment. Definitely the BEST pork and chicken barbeque I have ever tasted! Being off the main drag, it is frequented mainly by locals. Absolutely NOTHING fancy, just DELICIOUS barbeque AND TO-DIE-FOR HOMEMADE BOURBON PECAN PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review: If you are handicapped (wheelchair) stay away! I love bbq and was delightd wheni saw this restaurant. The problem arose when I tried to enter. The ramp provided is way too narrow. I became trapped part of the way up the ramp. I finally managed to free myself and get to the top of the ramp onlt to find the landing was also too small to allow me to turn and enter without falling off the landing. After a considerable amout of trying to get the attention of a waiter inside (they we looking directly at me) I decide to leave, encountering much the same difficulty. Then I got stuck in the sand trap at the bottom of the ramp, sitting there until some kind soles from the restaurant across the street assisted me. To say the least I will never try that again. Too bad as the smell of the cooking was very enticing..
