I would not recommend this restaurant in the cold winter months, THEY DO NOT HAVE HEAT. That's right, no heat, only what is provided by floor heaters which are scattered throughout the restaurant. There are vents visible in the ceiling throughout, but when questioned what is wrong with them the response was they do not work and need to be repaired.

Seated right away and was hoping for a good tex mex eperience. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best and the prices were very high for what you got. Not real clean. Staff more concerned with the locals that were drinking and playing the bowling machine than they were of the customers.chile -would not recommend and the enchiladas and the burrito were nothing special.cannot recommend this place.

The only good attribute of this dining experience was that our drinks failed to ever be empty. The fajitas were mediocre; they were small, did not have that signature sizzle, and the flavor was lacking. The carnitas came without the sliced avocado and jalapeno sauce that was mentioned on the menu, and had a burnt taste, despite the fact that they were room temperature. We ordered chips--which oddly do not come complimentary, as with most Mexican restaurants--and they never came out. Had to remind our waiter on both the chips and missing avocado; the avocado not coming out until the meal was nearly over, and the chips not coming out until entrees arrived. Will not be going back.

I'm from Texas and have been in love with Papis since they first opened. The owner and wait staff are very friendly, Texas like, and the food is great! It really is Tex-Mex! Try the jalepeno sauce. The house margaritas are the best I've ever had. The portions are perfect,(who wants to be fat?) and they have had live music lately that brought Austin, music capital of the world, back to mind. It's the perfect place to go for personalized food and service. They know you if you've been in before and the owner actually comes out to shake hands, old fasioned like.Papis will never go under because they aren't in a building to accomodate the whole Grand Strand at once...from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Blue Bonnets for you, Papis!!!!!!!!

Went here on 9/7/10 around 5pm. 8 other customers besides me. Lucky me, it was $2 margarita night. Ordered the chicken tacos. Best soft taco I've had in a long time. Meat was very tender, and seasoned just right. Pico, cheese, lettuce were on the side, along with rice. Plus there was a guac (I think) in a small cup that was very tasty. It had a really nice kick to it. The meal and drinks were worth the cost, and the service was very good. Highly recommend.

I had lunch at Papis on 8/24/10. I was just driving by and thought I’d try something new. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food was delicious. I’ve read some of the reviews on this page about menu selection being too few, but I praise the establishment that does what it does, and does it well. Having too many items on a menu diminishes the mission statement and trying to please every patron (menu selection) that walks through the door can wreck a restaurant. Papis has Tex Mex (enchiladas, burrito’s, fajitas, etc), Steaks, beef brisket, and burgers. The wait staff is just as enthusiastic about the food as is the cook staff when preparing your meal. You’d think they just bought a new car and couldn’t wait to tell you about it. Point is - Papis has tremendous value. One of the best items on the menu - Beef Brisket.

The service was good, but the food was awful. It was down hill from the beginning. First the tea tasted old and my daughters glass was dirty and stained with lipstick. The vegetable salsa was nasty and disgusting. The 3 cheese enchiladas were tasteless as were the wraps my friend ordered. Never will I recommend or return to this establishment.

My husband and I have eaten here at least 6 times. They used to have a good taco lunch special. It's gone. The specials have gotten more expensive and smaller. Everything is covered in liquid cheese. It could be more healthy and appetizing but I guess they are catering to the palette of the locals. They started out well, but have gone the way of all other good restaurants. Cut corners and increase prices. The food is fine but don't expect too much.

I hope this place stays open! the three taco's for only $7.95 is amazing! they even have creamy jalapeno sauce! the platter was so good with fresh and I mean, fresh meats, carnitas, pork, and chicken. I have never enjoyed the food as much as I did here!

My only complaint, I was the only one there, so it was a little uncomfortable, but the bartender who served me did an amazing job and was so friendly!

A++++ if you like soft tacos with fresh rice and beans you won't be disappointed! the meat was and is AMAZING!

To my surprise, Papi's food far exceeded my expectations. The food was all fresh, the BEST home made guacamole and service was also exceptional. My only disappointment was not enough selection on the menu. However, I would highly recommend if you like Mexican or Texmex food. The price was reasonable.

Stopped in at Papis today for a late lunch/early dinner. I found the food and service to be outstanding. I had and entree plus a couple of happy hour priced tacos. Both were prepared extremely well with fresh ingredients. The owner stated the taco meat was simmered for 12 hours. The chips and salsa were great as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Amazing food -- have now been there 3 times and they have hit it perfectly all 3 times. The fajitas are awesome, my father in law loves the spicy caesar salad -- and my husband is a big fan of the burrito. amazing freshly squeezed margaritas too. wish that we had this kind of place in DC.

As a native Texan I had been unable to find quality Tex-Mex in the Myrtle Beach area... until I found Papis! This place has everything I could have wanted. The food is real, homemade Tex-Mex, which is no easy or quick feat. The quality puts many Texas resturants to shame, and the staff was friendly and inviting without being intrusive. The prices are very reasonable when you consider this is not "pre-fab" food. I will be returning often!

Papis is a perfect example of not having to be a big restaurant to produce quality food and service. The food was served quickly and tasted great. Service was excellent. If the margarita isn't known, it soon will be. If you ever get the chance stop in at Papis, I suggest you give it a try. Keep up the good work!

We were lucky enough to have our going away party at Papis on May 16. We had close to 30 guests and all had an excellent time. The food was delicious as ALWAYS and the drinks were flowing. The servers had no problem keeping up with the needs of each guest. This restaurant has such a unique feel and atmosphere - much different that what you see all of the time at a beach in the carolinas. The food speaks for itself....try one of everything!

My family of six ate at Papi's last week during a short trip to the beach from our home in Statesville N.C.. My wife is from Texas and said that the food is the closest to "real" Texas food she has had while here. The food was awesome and the atmosphere was just as great! It is great to eat at a spot that doesn't depend on flashy surrondings and puts the attention on the food and service! Eat at Papi's, we will everytime we visit the coast!

With all the reviews we decided to go for a visit. At first I was taken back by the limited menu and the pricing for lunch, so we ordered 2 appetizers to get an idea about this place. The guacomole was homemade to order and the best along the whole grand strand I will say! The portions are not big but the quality of food is excellent. Again there is a limited menu but I am eager to go back and try an entree when we have a larger appetite. The manager did come out and ask everyone how everything was and the owner came out as well. The owner is in the kitchen doing the cooking himself which says alot.
