We visited this restaurant on a Friday night as part of a group of ten. Overall service was OK but it seemed a little understaffed. Dinner started with soup, salad, and hot bread and all were very good. Entrees, however, were a mixed bag. My wife had a nice veal marsala, though the vegetables were cold. My order of "Frutta de Mare" consisted of a huge plate of cold pasta served with very tiny clams, small tasteless mussels, and dry chewy fish (flounder?). The shrimp were large and tasty. Everything was covered with a bland orange marinara sauce that could have come out of a can. Worst dinner I've been served in any restaurant in several years, and we dine out at least twice a month. Some of the people at our table were very pleased with their meals, while a few others were extremely disappointed. We definitely will not be going back. ref: 20261

We have eaten here a couple of times and don't understand the negative comments by a few patrons. This is as close to a classic Italian restaurant from the old country as you are going to get in Myrtle Beach. If you check all of the reviews, you will find that the majority rated the food as excellent, and we agree. It is apparent that you can't make everybody happy.
We travel extensively and eat at Italian restaurants all over the country and this ranks in the top fourth. This a hidden gem! You need to try it for yourself. ref: 19891

WORST FOOD AND SERVICE EVER- CHEF BOYARDEE MAKES BETTER FOOD!!! When we arrived, we were basically told to wait at the bar for a table that would only take "a few minutes". It took over 20 minutes to get a table and half our order was taken. We were brought soup that tasted like dishwater, burned "bread" and no silverware. The servers were rude and had no sense of urgency. We finally got a table and our appetizers took 20 minutes. The bruschetta was soggy and cold, the portabella mushroom was burnt. When I told the server that the food was awful, she just looked at me and said ok. The veal took another 30 minutes and had ZERO flavor and was the consistency of overdone roast beef. The pasta tasted like it came from a can. My companion could not even cut through his veal. The total bill was 70$ and there was no attempt to rectify the situation. Wow, we found out this place won a "Best of the Beach" award, and I see why! We went on a Friday night, around 5:00 for an early dinner and it was fantastic! The old italian guy playing the accordion was great, our kids loved it! The food was EXCELLENT! Like the other posters said, this is an authentic Italian restaurant, so if you are in a rush for dinner, head somewhere else. But if you want a great meal at a great price, I highly recommend this place. The Chicken parmesan was great, soup was excellent, the bread and dipping sauce was excellent. Pasta was excellent, sauces were excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, cant wait to go back this weekend! ref: 19823

They should close this restaurant and move to Baltimore so we don't have to travel 8 hours to get a great Italian meal.
We found this restaurant by accident while exploring the inter-coastal along River Oaks Drive. Being lunch time and not knowing what to expect we both played it safe and ordered spaghetti and tomato sauce. After tasting the sauce and realizing the spaghetti was home made, we knew we had to return for dinner. Two days later we did and were even more impressed. With the dinners you get a small salad and small soup. I stress small because it is just enough to allow the flavor to prepare you for the main course. The salad had a light Italian dressing slightly sweet which did not overpower the taste of the greens in the salad. The soup was fantastic. When I asked what the soup was, the waitress said 'scratch Italian'. Although I could have eaten an entire pot of the soup, it too was just enough to save room for the main course. That evening there was an elderly small man in a green vest, green shoes and a green hat playing an accordion. Being Irish, I thought it was a Leprechaun, but it turned out to be a very nice Italian gentlemen who asked " any requests? anything?" I thought I would throw him a curve and requested 'stairway to heaven'... he knew it and played it.
Bottom line, enjoy the experience, the food and the people who work and own this establishment. ref: 19587

We stumbled upon Pane e Vino for lunch while exploring River Oaks drive which use to turn into a dirt road about 4 years ago. The food was exceptional, especially the sauce. We were so impressed, we came back the next night for dinner. If you are expecting quick service try the pizza place on the other side of the shopping center. This food is prepared from scratch. There is actually a herb garden out back where they get their seasoning. We not only enjoyed our meal, we took a menu to leave at our condo with a recommendation.
Our only suggestion would be to close this restaurant and move it to Baltimore so we don't have to drive 8 hours to enjoy an exceptional Italian meal. ref: 19549

My husband and I the other day decided to try this place close to home, we both ordered off of the Lunch menu. since the dinner menu started at 16 dollars on up. we both ordered the Lasgne, first of all, it smelled like chef boyardee, and when I tasted it. I said this sauce looks like 90 percent cream sauce with a speck of tomato sauce thrown in. and It was just as unpleasant to taste as well. I told the waiter to bring me something else and I told him to bring us the spaghetti. Oh no the same sauce poured over mushy noodles. I took two bites of it. then the waiter brought me a container to take home. how bad was it... not even my dog who isnt picky would eat it. enough said. i wont go back. no way and with the coupon it still came to 25 dollars and the salads which was very tiny dont come with the lunch entree. and we ordered two non alcholic drinks. and with tax and tip it still cost us that much money., so if you want great food food go someplace else. ref: 19498

My Husband I decided to try and spend a nice relaxing Lunch, first time visit. we were impressed with the atomosphere, and we were inmpressed with the Hot rolls and dipping Herb sauce, and with the tiny salad, with different lettuce, endive , and boston, and what have you. but then the Lasagna came out. piping out..I took one look at it. and said oh no... Chef boardee. the sauce looked like 90 percent cream and 10 percent tomato sauce. , I took a bite of it. and said to my husband. this is bad. lets order something different so we order spaghetti. noodles were over cooked and the sauce same as above was poured over the noodle. I said oh no. I took two bites of it. and then got the check and left. and then the bill minus 20 percent off still came to 25 dollars including tax and tip... it was the worse food. we wont go back . I have had really good Italian food from different parts of the country . and let me tell you. this was the worse. so I would suggest anyone who wants to try this place out. be prepare to have chef boardee served to your table. ps. not even my dog would touch the left overs I bought home and usually my dog isnt picky. ref: 19489

Without a doubt one of the very finest restaurants in Carolina Forest. Each dish shines and the fresh bread, actually small crusty rolls, will make your day. The house salad dressing has home grown fresh herbs. The veal and lamb are my favorites and are fresh and expertly prepared. Since everything is prepared when you order, the entree will take a while but not that long. If you want good value for your dollar, this is it ! ref: 19056

Their lasagne is the best on the planet, bar none. My husband and I go there every Friday for lunch, and it is our favorite restaurant. Every meal comes with warm bread, fresh from the oven, and dipping sauce made with fresh herbs from their herb garden. Our waiter John is phenomenal. I read a favorable review of this restaurant in the newspaper and I was eager to take my wife there for dinner. We went after church on a Saturday evening, and it was busy but not overcrowded. We were seated quickly, and I immediately noticed the odd height of the chairs. They were nearly bar stool high, but not quite. I am 6'4" tall and my feet barely reached the floor which made sitting uncomfortable. My wife isn't nearly as tall as me, so she rested her feet on a rung of the chair. I couldn't do that comfortably, either. Note that we were NOT seated at the bar but at a dinner table. I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty soup, bread, and very fresh salad. They had only a house dressing, but it was homemade Italian, so I would have ordered that anyway. My only complaint so far was that the soup was very salty. For my entree, I ordered lasagna. Not too imaginative a choice, but one of my favorites growing up in an Italian household. When my entree came, I was a bit confused by the flat mass or tomato sauce topped with cheese, but I gave the house the benefit of the doubt and thought the lasagna may have collapsed when it was served onto the plate. Not the best presentation for a restaurant, but something that happens at home on occasion. I was looking for a nice high square of lasagna layered with meat, cheese and some kind of veggie like you can get at any Carob’s or Olive Garden nationwide. [I should make it clear that I haven't had to eat at one of those chains in many years as I expect better Italian food than a chain can prepare.] My first forkful was a huge disappointment. This had to be the WORST lasagna ever! It was so overcooked that it felt and tasted like grainy tomato sauce. I couldn't find the wide lasagna noodles for which the dish is named. I couldn't find any meat, or any cheese beneath the top sprinkling. The only identifiable ingredient was some eggplant skin. At least I hope that's what it was! I took a few bites trying to find the good that I hoped was in there somewhere, but I had to give up. What was most maddening was that: 1) my wife had a side of linguine that was cooked to perfection; 2) they claim they make their own fresh pasta (I wish I had found some to try!) and 3) when I asked the waiter if they normally cooked their lasagna that much, he answered with a simple "yeah". He didn't ask if there was something wrong, or why I was leaving a whole plate of "food" for the garbage. He seemed quite defensive when I asked this innocent question. If he had tried to make amends in any way, or had he told me the lasagna should never have been served that way, I most likely would have given this restaurant a second chance. However, there is only one opportunity to make a good first impression, and it's too bad my waiter didn't care that my impression of the place was so very bad. He did bring us a yellow lined tablet where people had written their impression of the restaurant. I don't know whether they were looking for praise or taking an honest poll of their customers' experiences. Either way, I will never eat there again. ref: 18609

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and warm in the atmosphere of this authentic mom and pop restaurant. The service was impeccable, the food outstanding. My husband had the frutta di mare, and we could not believe the amount of food as well as the beauty of the presentation. Dinner includes hot rolls, soup and a salad. all were fresh and tasty. As an Italian myself, I am very difficult to please and usually do not go out for Italian food as I find it more American than Italian. However, this is the real thing. It is like being in my parent's kitchen. We not only recommend this place highly, but we are taking friends there again tomorrow! ref: 18233

One of the best Italian restaurants on the Grand Strand. We have been to it three times in one month. The veal dishes are to die for and the pastas out of this world. Last visit my husband had the lamb and I had the veal osso buco. The veal melted in your mouth and the lamb wow!!!!!!!! Growing up in a Italian home, I felt like I was in my grandparents kitchen. My girlfriend and I were looking forward to try this place. First off they didnt have garlic bread! What kind of Italian restraunt does not have garlic bread? Second the salads came out with their "homemade" dressing which had no taste and was like water. Third we had to wait what felt like forever for our entrees to come out. Fourth I ordered veal, which is usaully a very tender juicy meat. It was like rubber and dry as heck! I expected sooo much better! And it was way over priced! ref: 18051

This is a traditional Italian restaurant; eating is supposed to take a while. If you want the typical American dining-out experience of order-eat-leave or are pressed for time, do not go here. You are expected to take your time and enjoy the meal. They grow their own herbs and make their own pasta. The meal comes with fresh-baked bread, soup, and a salad. The appetizers are good, but unless you have help eating it, you will be full before your entree arrives. Service was excellent, but there were only four tables seated. The meal (cannelloni in red sauce.) was excellent, as was the side of gnocchi; almost as good as Grandma Zaccaro's. ref: 17466

If you are impatient, you will not be a happy here. It takes a lengthly amount of time to get your food. There were only three tables being served inside, and one outside. Total time from seated unitl we were finished was one hour and a half. The food was very good, not outstanding but good. The time factor is a deal breaker. ref: 17138

The meal was horrible, had veal parmesan and the meat was tough. Spaghetti was extra, because meals come with potatoes. We also had chicken parmesan and the meal was bad. Sauce had no taste. Very pricey for a bad meal. ref: 17115

So we went golfing at Midway Par 3 and asked the older Italian man who worked there where was the best Italian food in MB? He did not hesitate to say Pane e Vino in Carolina Forest. I had no idea where that was, but I had GPS and it was only 14 minutes away. We got there close to closing time, they did not look at us like "oh, brother" but instead sat us immediately and let me tell you this is one of two great Italian restaurants in MB that I have been to, the other being Giada's. The entrees come with soup and salad. The salad was ho-hum to be honest, but the soup was a pastina broth which was unbelievably delicious despite the simplicity. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and when you get gnocchi in other places, 9 out of 10 times it is mushy from over-cooking. The whole staff was great, and believe it or not, the owner's mom Anna from Rome, Italy came out and hugged my 12 year old son, she was so affectionate and nice to us. I really liked Pane e Vino and next year we will be returning to MB and I'll make it a point to get there again. ref: 16638

Once again happy as could be and beyond. Decided to take my daughter and 2 grandbabies out to eat. And we all decided on Pane e Vino. We have now been there 5 times.
We had a lovely dinner of orange roughy,shrimp cocktail,involtini,and shrimp parmesian.All was so perfect.And we had our favorite waiter Carlton again,he is such a sweet,busy,little cutie pa tootie.Between the food and service provided .We never wanna leave.We will be back again next week.Thank you all 4 making a old woman feel so good. ref: 16434

We called and got directions to this restaurant. The lady on phone was nice but seemed rushed and desperate , to get me there and off the phone. But I feel it may have been because it was busy. And when we got there it was. But we were seated very quickly. And our server greeted us quickly as well I have seen the review about Carlton and kinda wanted to get him and we did. And must agree he was outstanding. Right away he got our drinks and wine. Explained the food was homemade and made on order to relax and enjoy.Glad he told us or maybe would not have been so understanding on length of time on food.
The wine we ordered was good but was surprised at price it was a screw off bottle and not cork.
The bread rolls were very good and fresh. The soup was good but little plain.
The salad seemed very fresh. It was very good.
The food took little longer than we expected but we relaxed and enjoyed our wine.
When the food came out it looked so well prepared. And must say I felt it was very authenic. It tasted as if I were in a quaint village in Italy.

It was my friends birthday and that is where she wanted to go. The food was great. The glasses are to small thou. Our waiter Carl was great thou observing and pouring our drinks every few minutes and still taking care of rest of his people. AND it was BUSY. He also was very informative with all my questions i had about the menu. The food was good but took a little bit longer than expected. Carl did explain al food was homemade and made to order so I understood a little bit more. I feel thou it had low staff for the amount of action going on. But we will be back.

I was disappointed in this restaurant. My husband and I ordered a salad and lasagna and ice tea. First the glass the tea was in is too small. The salad was served in a soup bowl. The dressing was great. We were brought a bread basket with 4 very small rolls and olive oil and herbs for dipping. We waited 45 minutes for our entree to be served. The lasagna was good but I had to hurry to eat due to having only 1 hour for lunch. I would have like to have more bread and a larger salad and a large glass of tea. The total bill came to 32.00 . For the money we spent I felt like we did not get our monies worth. We will not go back. ref: 16382

I must say that the food is really good.but the service that I had from carlton was the best I ever had. The place was busy and he was hustling and feel he still went out of his way to make us happy. This place could be a great place with fixing just a couple things! The wedding soup was bland, the bread was great, the meal was great! But we chose to sit outside because the inside was just so bland looking. Felt like being in a cafeteria. Do something with all the white walls! My wife and I had dinner in there tonight, this was our 4th trip. On a previous trip we had lunch (4 of us) and they all said the food was great. Tonight the food was excellent just like always, but the server was not that great she could not remember if she had brought our salads.
