Review: I remember going to the Lodge back in te 60's and 70's and the food was excellent. I have noticed that most of the reviews have been written in recent times as expected. I guess based on these reviews.....it is a shame most of these people never ate here when it was actually owned by the Oliver Family.....the food was to die for. Maxine Oliver and her family had the best seafood in the area. Shame the new owners have let this place go to hell. I guess money will win out every time!

Review: Based on the reviews, we decided to try Olivers Lodge. However, we found it boarded up. From all appearances, it has been closed for quite some time.

Review: Service is TERRIBLE! Made reservations for an outside table, but were then told we couldn't have one. We then asked if we could sit on the inside porch, as there was a table open. We were told no because "someone else might have a reservation for that table." NO ONE ever sat at that table, and up to 4 others were available at one time during our dinner. Food was good, but we will NEVER go back. They act as if they're doing you a favor by letting you eat there. The food was good, but we will NEVER EVER go back!!!

Review: I had the best shrimp and grits here. Almost worth the drive from Newnan, GA. The family who owns Olivers was very welcoming and made us feel like home. Definitely worth a try!!
We met a couple there who had eaten at Olivers 50 years ago on their honeymoon and are still going back.

Review: I have eaten at Oliver's the past two summers. Once at the $9.99
early special, I really enjoyed the shrimp. Our shrimp spread was wonderful and so was the strawberry butter & hush puppies. My 18 year old loved it also. WELL WORTH IT YALL!
I went again on 4th of July 09 during peak time. Wait was a little while, but food was again wonderful!! Service was what should be expected at a Holiday. Price at dinner is what other
restraunts charge. I love the atmosphere. The evening was one of my most favorite. This is not a plantation home, yall! It is fine fish camp! I will definitely go each year!

Review: We usually go to Oliver's every time we visit Myrtle Beach. This year was no different except now the kids are gone and it was just me and my husband. The food was good (Captains Platter and FlounderRoosevelt). The Raspberry salad dressing was very good. Service was excellent, but even if the food was bad the view of Garden City over the Marsh was worth it. It was absolutely beautiful at sunset.

Review: I was looking forward to my yearly visit to Oliver's. I have always enjoyed dining there over the years while on vacation. However, this year I was greeted by one of the rudest hostesses I have ever encountered. I couldn't believe how our party was treated by this lady. Even if they would have had a table for us, I would not have dined at Oliver's after the way she talked to us. Too bad such a nice restaurant has someone so unfriendly greeting its customers.

Review: My family would go here every year. The atmosphere was great when I was a child. I had great memories. Since then I am married with a family. We would go other places. One year a couple of years ago we tried O L and were greatly disappointed. We will never go back. Over priced for the amount of food and it wasn't that great. Service was terrible. All around a waste of money.

Review: This is our first time at Oliver's although we live in the area. We went about 6:30 p.m. on a Friday and it wasn't crowded which made us a bit wary although by the time we left, it was filling up. The food was fantastic (I had pan-seared grouper and it was the best I've ever eaten) and the service was even better. They must have changed their management since the earlier reviewers ate there but we had no complaints at all. Will definitely go back.

Review: I'm a local and I come here as much as possible - that says something! The view on the water is amazing and the food is just as good. It's prices are comparable to any other of the "nicer" restaurants on the Grand Strand, but you won't find food this good anywhere else. The staff is fun and have a bit of a family-like atmosphere about them. There is a new bartender there, a young man with longer hair, and he's very good looking... makes a great drink too.
All of their steaks are handcut to order and better than T-Bones or Bovines. The Flounder Roosevelt is another signature dish I like.
PS (Make sure to take in the history - it's the oldest restaurant on the Strand!)

Review: Not too busy on a weekend seemed questionable but we tried it. Got right in, no waiting at 7:30 on a Saturday. Service was fair to poor. Waited a long time for our food, cocktails were not that good, the food was good and hot. I'd hate to see this place on a busy night. We probably won't return any time soon.

Review: In summer of 07 my husband and another couple with a child tried to get into another familiar restarurant but there was a long wait. Since we had a 6 year old who couldn't be expected to wait that long for dinner we rode by and noticed that Oliver's Lodge did not appear to be overcrowded. I, like many others, had fond memories of eating at Oliver's Lodge when I was young, the joggling board etc. We went in. The prices sent us into sticker shock. The food received was tiny portions (I have broiled shrimp/oyster that had perhaps a total of 6 small shrimp and even less oysters) with only the "shared" sides. The "sides" were to be mashed potatos and green beans. We were served one small divided dish half potatos half beans slapped down in the middle of the table to accommodate 4 adults and one child. It really did not take long for us to figure out why there was no line!! I was truely sorry to see the decline in what used to be one of the best (and crowded) restaurants at Murrells Inlet. I was so embarrassed to have recommended it. It they are trying for an upscale "fancy" atmosphere they are certainly falling far short. In the future I would go to McDonalds for a "Fillet O Fish" sandwich before returning to Olivers Lodge!

Review: Remembering the old Olivers Lodge before the renovation, I can sit in the new Olivers and appreciate every plank of the building. The place has such memories and ambiance - right on the inlet. The old long bar is a great place to meet your party and share a drink. The 'corn dodgers' are perfect and the new menu is very good. If you're new to Olivers, you must read about its history - it will truly make you appreciate the experience. We've been coming here for nearly 30 yars and would not leave Olivers out of the Murrells Inlet dining experience.

Review: I visited the area for the 1st time in Sept. 2007 and a friend introduced me to Oliver's Lodge. The food, view, and service contributed to a very enjoyable evening. The fish was fresh and grilled to perfection. I will be back when I visit again.

Review: Very nice dinner for our family of 5 (Mom, Dad & 3 teenagers). Plenty of food, very attentive service. Atmosphere at Oliver's can't be beat if you're a history buff. This is not the place to go to if you have to be seen!!! This is the place to go to for a nice quiet evening, with an excellent meal to boot!!!

Review: Could not honor our reservation. Inexperienced and unprofessional wait staff. Good food. Poor kitchen management. Don't go after 8:15. Kitchen closed down before we were finished eating, even though they sat us 30 minutes late for an 8 o'clock reservation. We were served 6 hushpuppies for a party of 9. Some items were served family style, and quantities were insufficient. Other items were served individually, but with no explanation for why. We had to ask for our soup and appetizers. We had to light our own candles. The menu says that separate checks cannot be done for parties of 10 or more. We were a party of 9, and we were told no separate checks. We had to go to the hostess to straighten that out. Overall, the whole experience was very, very disappointing. We would not return or recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

Review: Our visit to Olivers was okay, but can't say we'll make the trip to go back. The website and online comments lead one to think this is a special occasion/fine dining restaurant. It's not. The place was loud and full of families with small children. Portions were small for the price. Shrink-wrapped crackers and labeled salt/pepper shakers are on the table. The hushpuppies were excellent, althought a bit greasy. The Spinach and Strawberry Salad was good too. The Panko Crusted Chicken entree was overcooked. Flounder Rosevelt was okay, the promised lobster sauce was a stick of butter. Our waiter seemed to be unfamilar with the menu, as we heard another waiter offer their tables additional specials and choices that our waiter did not. This place seems to be the Murrells Inlet version of Sea Captians in Myrtle Beach. Overall: Average/Good but not worth the drive from MB.

Review: When I was growing up every yearly trip to the beach included a trip to Olivers Lodge. We loved it. The atmosphere and my mother would always give me her deviled crab. We had not been back for several years and my wife and I went back in '06. We were disappointed. The prices are too steep for the amount of food. Also the closed in porch takes something away from the environment. We won't be back.

Review: Food quality was poor - it did not have a fresh taste and was greasy. They served the worst flounder I have ever eaten. The portions were small and the focus was more of how the food looked on the plate rather than feeding you a good meal. The small portion along with the poor taste left my husband and I going to grab a snack within the hour since we both left there hungry. We were extremely disappointed and paid a hefty bill for our meal.

Review: ZERO reviews? For OLIVERS LODGE? You have to be kidding me?
Maybe Im just OLD. I recall going there in the 1960s with my parents. Hell, I recall the DOCK! (before it rotted away) I recall it in the 70's, 80's & 90's. The good thing about it in the 00's, is the wait is less, or non existant. The service is NOT as good as it once was, nor to be honest is the food. But its not BAD either. The entire coast has been overrun with commercialism... Each and every time I visit this part of the grand strand, you can bet OLIVERS and Lees Inlet Kitchen, both oldtimers, will be on my "to do" lists.
