After reading the positive reviews this restaurant was a disappointment. I don't mind paying $200 for a meal if the quality equals the price and in the case it did not. The shrimp cocktail was "rubbery" and did not appear to be fresh and there was no favor to the cocktail sauce. The salad was well below average white lettuce and an unknown dressing. The salad dressing was not an option provided. The rib eye steak was cooked correctly but was not of prime quality and was tough to cut, very average. The service was very good but the quality of the meal an overall disappointment to us especially for the price we paid. There are many more places in Myrtle Beach where you can get this quality of food for a much lower price. Also, the music was much too loud to have a conversation.

Read the reviews for New York Prime and thought we'd give it a try. It turned out to be a disappointment. Putting things in context, my bill (with tip) was $131 for my wife and I. I got the 16oz new york strip and she got the 10oz new york strip. We shared a single order of hash browns, I had bland ice tea and she had water. That's all we ate. Everything is a la carte, salad $9.50, sides $9-11 each. So your bill can get very expensive very fast. Which is fine if the food warrants it. My steak was cooked nicely except for the 1/8" of "char"(their term). I call it burned. Burned meat tastes terrible, so I had to remove the burnt part before I could eat each bite. Even then it was average, aged for 23 days or not. I've had better steaks at Outback. This place wants SO bad to be taken as fine dinning. My wife went to the restroom and a young man immediately came over and re-folded her napkin before she returned. Really? We counted about twenty people on the wait staff. Total over kill for the size of the restaraunt. It was obvious why my steak was $52. If you want a snobby restaraunt, consider it. But if a great steak is what you seek, go to the Outback and have $$ left over for a movie.

After spending 250 dollars on july 3rd, the staff 'accidentally' ran my debit card on someone else's tab which depleted my checking account for - so far - at least three more days (i'm not rich). The management admitted the mistake and said 'sorry' but offered no consolation benefit whatsoever, even when I had to suggest that something like that would go a long way in making me think that they really are sorry. As of today, the 6th, my account has still not been credited, which has caused an incredible inconvenience, but all they're concerned about is that i'm going to 'eventually' get the money back, which has not yet happened. I will never eat at New York Prime again, and I will tell everyone of their complete apathy in such matters. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm not ashamed to tell thjis to anyone who cares to hear it. Robert nall glennnall@gmail.com .

Ok, My wife and I ate here on May 21st 2011. Both had the 8 oz filet meduim rare. It was perfectly charred on the outside, perfectly MR on the inside. Sooo good you just want to keep chewing and never swallow. I used to manage a very nice high end steak house. I have eaten at many expensive steak houses, including in Manhatten. I have never had a better steak anywhere than I had here. The filets are so lean, so tender, so perfect...so flavorful. We also had a baked potatoe and creamed spinach. Enjoyed a moderate priced bottle of wine, around 70.00. Retired to the bar, enjoyed a few drinks and enjoyed slowly smoking a nice Cohiba cigar. Wow, is the last place in the world one can enjoy a cigar in a nice restaurant?? The service is very attentive without being annoying. A well informed staff eager to please. The attractive young ladies tending the bar were very pleasent. It was made all the more pleasent by the company of my lovely 5'1" 110lb beautiful wife of 31 years. ( after a few drinks she laughs at everything I say ) So, if you want a really, really good steak with good service this is the place. If you are worried about what things cost don't even bother going here, the prices will spoil your dinner. With tips we spent $380.00. We enjoyed every minute and dollar of it. Of course you do not have to spend that much to enjoy a good dinner here. My modesty cowers in the presence of my gluttony. This place is the only reason I would return to MB. I will have frequent and fond memories of our 2.5 hours here... Mmmmm... wish i was there now. We observed a large lobster being platted and served to the table next to us, I very much recommend that. We will be sharing one next trip. New York Prime, the way steak should be. Glad I saw the billboard. Enjoy

Was here with a group Saturday night. This is a must if you truly appreciate good food and wine, I visit Myrtle Beach every year with 11 friends/golfers, we make it a point to set aside time to enjoy the experience of NY Prime, if you want the best steak in town go here, you won't be dissappointed. It rivals the top steakhouses in the big cities.

If you make a reservation at this location, be sure to specify the type of table you want. We had a reservation for four and they basically set us at a table meant for two. At the same time they put two people at a table that would have seated six. When I questioned the reasoning behind this, I was told that they wanted to sit at a round table vs. a square table. Also, the hostess and manager were very arrogant that we even questioned why they would squeeze four on a two top and put two and on a large four top.

My wife and I go out for dinner more than we eat in and this place was way over rated. I was very unhappy with the portion size and the quality. We paid over 125 for two of us with out drinks. They deff. Have ny pricing but the food was not up to par to say the least. Dont think that you get salad or vegtable for that price either! that was a small 10 oz steak and half or a baked potato each that is all we got. Very unhappy! .

Don't let the bad reviews deter you from coming to this restaurant. It is the BEST place to get a steak in Myrtle. We have a vacation home here and make it a point to dine here everytime we are in town. However, we have two issues: I ordered a "piece" of chocolate cake for my husbands' birthday, they charged me $25. I was shocked..that is ridiculous! Also...the smoking at the bar has got to go!!!!! But other than that..this place is awesome!! Great drinks and spectacular food, great service, nice atmosphere and we love the Sinatra music.. Highly recommend! =)

I really like the steaks there - I was there on January 10, 2010, will not go back until you stop the filthy smoking I paid 120.00 for my wife and I but the smell of smoke destroyed the experience For that much money I expect cleanliness - Oh I know you will say that the smoking area is the bar - but that is like having a no-peeing section in the pool.

I've been coming here for years and the food is always top notch as well as the service! My only complaint is that this place seems to have lost some of its flare in recent years. It was always a "FUN" fine dining experience. Now it seems stuffy and the staff look like they're walking around on egg-shells! I have noticed very high turnover of management which may be the cause. But you still can't go wrong here!! Just make it fun again guys!!!

Our first visit to New York Prime was disappointing. The NY Strip Steak was tough obviously not prime grade, though cooked properly, the sauted onions were burned and greasy, the potatoes were cold. The house wine grossly overpriced. I have had better at Ruth Chris in Myrtle Beach and Texas Roadhouse in Garden City. The New York label is misleading, New York would never serve a below average dinner at it's upscale restaurants.

My husband and I had the pleaser of dining at this restaurant for our 5th year wedding anniversary. We walked in to a great welcome from the hostess and asked to have a drink at the bar, before we were seated. Our table was very romantic and set up for the occassion. Our dinner was going great, when I asked to speak to the Owner to comment on the restaurant. We noticed our server ask, what he said to be the Operating Partner to come over, yet he shrugged his shoulder and sent over the Matire D. I specifically asked for the Owner/Operating Partner and did not appreciate this. Overall very good restaurant and would recommend to others.

My first visit to NY Prime was in late August, 2008. My father-in-law and I were in town for several days to escape our wives and play golf. He had mentioned that he had read a sterling review of the restaurant in a magazine while flying home from a trip. We went our first evening and were both utterly impressed. My father-in-law is a consumate world traveler and has eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world. His impression was the restaurant was simply second to none. I have eaten at the finest steak houses across the major cities of the United States and must say I have never had a similar experience. The food was nothing short of outstanding. The atmosphere, the staff, the entire experience was perfect. Yes, the food is pricey but they make no apologies for their committment to quality (it is written within their menu). We enjoyed our meal so much, we returned the following evening for an encore performance. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience who is not afraid to pay for it. As far as the negative reviews, ignore them. One review proffers the Angus Barn in Raleigh, NC is far superior. As a resident of Raleigh, I can assure you this is false. Another review states that people dining at NY Prime simply want to make themselves feel more important than they truly are. To this, I say try Applebees next time. I am sure you will feel appreciated by their knowledgable staff and litany of fine culinary treasures all for $9.99. NY Prime is now one of my favorite restaurants in the country. You will not be disappointed.

I live in NY and go to Peter Lugers 2-3 times a year. Now that does not make me an expert in any way but...I travel all over the USA and go to many steakhouse's across the contry. San Diego..Flemmings, Chicago..Chop House, Indinapolis...Elmo's, Las Vegas..Prime (Belliago) and many Ruth Chris's ( Baltimore the older one being the best)

Now NY Prime in MB. The roots of the place started with Mr. Cribs He had a standard like no other and it is copied today under the current management,...not as good but good!

MY favorite Steakhouse of all! Service, sharp and attentive. Food....best rib-eye anywhere! Oyster Rock...to die for! Very professional and yes "pricey" well worth it!

BRAVO to the people that keep standards high!

In response to the 5-18-08 reviewer....guess the last good meal you've had was at Denny's. You show your ignorance of a fine prepared meal by noting they finished the steak off in an oven.......Any knowledgeable cognoscente knows you char any good piece of beef then, according to how you ordered the beef: rare, med, well....finish it off in an oven to complete it. This place is awesome!!! Great Service!!! I can't wait to get back over the holidays & enjoy some fine dining.

I live here in Myrtle Beach, and eat out about five nights a week. I have been to every "fine dining" restaurant on this beach, and I have to admit that New York Prime is by far my favorite. My boyfriend and I both agree that when it comes to excellent food, great service, and a romantic atmosphere New York Prime goes above and beyond. The steak will melt in your mouth and the lobster is as good as it gets. Great selection of wine and the coctails never taste watered down. Anytime I go there they make me feel right at home, and I would reccomend this restaurant to anybody!

I consider myself a steak connoisseur dining all over the US, buying an entire prime steer for personal use and holding cooking classes and without a doubt, NY Prime offers the best prime beef. Every year I visit Myrtle Beach with 12 men for 4-5 days and two of our dinners are always at NY Prime. I think we go to Myrtle Beach for NY Prime and golf is secondary. Great food, atmosphere and wait staff. Dennis O'Brien Philadelphia, PA

Knowledgeable waiter and attentive staff. Service you would expect. NY and Chicago steakhouse atmosphere. Food was excellent from the salad, mixed drink, sides and dessert. Top quality steak. This is the kind of steak you expect from a top notch restaurant. Some reviews were not impressed with the steaks. If you like A-1 on your steak this is not your restaurant. They do allow cigar smoking. Specific seating that is specially ventilated. I did not notice the smoke. I Plan on returning every year we go to Myrtle Beach.

First off I would like to say you will not find a better Filet or Ribeye on the beach. The broiler and the little bit of char on the steaks can not be duplicated at home or anywhere else. This is my favorite place to eat steak and on occasion have a lobster which is fresh. The wine selection is pretty good and the service is the best on the beach. I have dined in Las Vegas and in New York and spent more money and got less. If you're cheap and don't like a steak broiled stay home. This is a real steak house.

Everything about this restaurant says "Steakhouse". Ruth Chris is not in NY Prime's league. Atmosphere from music, the wall coverings the waiter outfits, etc was perfect. Excellant service. Very courteous and detailed. One of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Guys... if you want to eat one of the best steaks and smoke a cigar after your meal this is the place. You can not even do that in Vegas any more. Non smokers do not worry. There is a special area near the bar for smokers. Exceptional restaurant. I will return.

This is a serious steakhouse . Excellent bernaise sauce and no frills dining that screams 1930s Chicago. Al Capone was laughing up a storm next to me in fact. Lean menu but what they do , they do well. The barrel cut large Filet Mignon or the 5 lb lobster.... { heck why not get both and split it} is the ticket . The first reviewer on this site bashed it into chopsteak ... not sure what cornfield he stepped out from ...but ignore him : This is a Mans Steakhouse. Come hungry.

I had dinner with 5 of my business partners and overall it was excellent. The wait staff is very professional and somewhat "New York" in style. The food is absolutely great and high in quality. The steaks are prepared the way you ask and how they should be done. The side dishes are very large and can be shared. The Oysters Rockefeller are VERY good. There is no other restaurant in Myrtle Beach, including the new Ruth's Chris Steak House that can match the side dishes.

I ate here in 2007 with my wife on a whim.I was impressed by the service and the style the restaurant tried to display, but when it came to the food I was disappointed! I have eaten at several higher class "steak" places before so NO I'm not straight out the sticks.I was first dishearted when I saw my steak go into a broiler, so called "prime" steak being cooked in a oven. Then when I tasted it...plain,bland,blah!!! No stand out flavor not even a salt or pepper taste? When the waitor stood over me and boasted in a thick NY accent how great a steak it was I almost couldn't hold my comments in, but I did. The salad (ceasar) and potatoe was par and the check was $100. The price wasn't the problem it was value vs price. I hate to say it but I've had better TASTING steaks at Outback.I caps tasting because I do think the quality was great not the flavor. The Angus Barn in NC has wonderful steaks they age and the flavor is there as well, it's kind'a what this place is trying to be! It was a hoot to watch 5 guys throw my wife and my steaks in the oven and then stand around for 20 mins...I need a job like that what chefs they are! I say over priced and anyone who would eat here more than once is just trying to make themselves or there company feel important.Because it's obvious taste isn't important to them!!!!!

I've only eaten here 5 or 6 times. This is the only place my wife will accompany me on a business meal. The steak is that good. Definetely the best steak on the beach by far. If requested they will put together an appetiser sampler that cannot be beaten anywhere. Try it sometime.

I have had the center cut filet everytime I have been and I think it is the best steak that I have ever had. Overall, it is a great place and I wouldnt change a thing about it.

This has got to be the most over-rated restaurant in the area. Extremely overpriced, wait staff just waiting for their hefty tip, and you can get better beef at the Golden Corral. We'll never go there again.

This was my first visit here and I can not wait to go again. This was the best service I have ever had. The food was impeccable, I had the Filet and my husband had the NY Strip and when my husbands was not done enough there were no questions asked and it seemed like it was our servers pleasure to get it done the right way. Michael our waiter was the best. Again, this was the best of everything!! It was money well spent.

My inlaws have a place in Myrtle and we come down 3 -4 times a year. We just visited NY Prime for the second time. We were not disapppointed. We had a fabulous overall meal. We live outside Philadelphia and we thought this meal was as good if not better then Mortons or The Palm. We arrived at 8:15 on a Friday night and were promptly seated (we had a reserv). My cosmo was excellent and very cold! We shared raw oysters and oysters rockerfeller and both were again excellent. We then shared a cesear salad made tableside. A little heavy on the garlic but we enjoyed it. My husband had a fillet and I wanted prime rib which they don't have but our excellent waiter Paul suggested the Rib eye with the bone in. It tasted exactly like prime rib and was cooked to perfection. Paul made my creamy horseradish sauce tableside. For dessert we shared warm apple pie topped with nuts with vanilla icecream. Delicious. The restaurant was extremely busy and thus a little noisy but that didn't bother us. This place is extremely pricey but if you are looking for an upscale restuarant and excellent food and service you must try NY Prime! We will be back.

Perfect. Best rib eye steak I have ever had. You will not get better service or a better steak within 300 miles of myrtle beach. People who want just a steak go to outback. You will get your monies worth at ny prime.

We were down visiting friends for my birthday on July 11th,2007 to Myrte Beach and my boyfriend wanted a special dinner for me. From start to finish it was superb. The cocktails, manhattan, cosmopolitan and a martini to two bottles of Pinot Noir with dinner. The appetizers were also delicious beyond compare.Jumbo lump crab and Ceasar salads. The Center cut steaks were the best ever consumed by each of us and were done to perfection as ordered! The desserts were Cheesecake and Banana Cream Pie...again second to none! The service was well-timed and Chris' personality and expertise made the evening ever so special. We have decided to make this a tradition every July for my birthday when we come down for our long visit. KUDOS to you and your staff!!!!!!!

I have a very successful resort in Myrtle Beach, and every time that I visit, I bring 8 to 10 guest for dinner at New York Prime. This time they charged me $4.00 for Bernaise sauce for the two filets that we ordered, on a total check of over $800.00. This is very cheap and for this reason, I would never give them another Dollar of my business.

This is one of the best restaurants on the Strand especially for meat or seafood fare. Have been to this establishment several with and without guest. Service and food have been outstanding. Staff very attentative to every detail to make your dinning experience a pleasant one. Particularly the upper scale atmosphere of the restaurant for a beach town. Live near so it is convenient to walk for dinner. Food is plentiful and provides a delicious lunch the next day. Would like to see a return to the dressy casual dress code (realize this is the beach, but I, personally, do not want to eat at an upscale restaurant in shorts and t-shirt. New York Prime is a dinning experience of superb quality with prices to confirm so why not make it an evening to remember

On my top five list ny prime is 2 next to peter luger 3 is old homestead (ny,a.c.)4 marc joseph (ny) que de cheval(montreal) palm, angelo n maxi and ruth chris are now cookie cutter commercial establishments. Porter house for two is fantastic perfect crispy outside tender juicy inside. Great spinach. To much cheese on mashed potatoes prefer garlic or lobster mash. Shrimp app great but need more options.. Port wine good and cigar at table was so relaxing people who complain of the smoke should go to outbacks this is a real steak house..........

The food was good. The service was almost as good as it gets. Until a patron was allowed to light his cigar (and permitted to smoke his cigar for the next 25 minutes). For a non-smoking dining area I could have found a better sanctuary in the middle of a 2000 acre forest fire. It soon became apparent to me that the management could care less about the atmosphere of the restaurant or the health of its employees. At least when I pay the big bucks at Ruth Chris steakhouse I'm guaranteed a clean and peaceful atmosphere. To the management of New York Prime, thanks for ruining my first visit to your steak house.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant three times and can't wait to go again in the fall. As we are making our "to do" list for a Myrtle Beach golf outing, we are also planning our restaurants. New York Prime tops the list. Previously, we have ordered steaks that are perfectly prepared and the service is impecable. Everything that we have eaten has been amazing. We can't wait for another opportunity to dine at New York Prime.

We just ate there, and it was fantastic!

This is better than Morton's or The Palm steakhouses, and the service is as good as the food. I had the NY Strip, and it was cooked properly and tasted great- as good a steak as i have ever had.

It is pricey, but save up, it is worth the trip.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! Best Ribeye I have ever had. Service was impeccable. My wife had garlic baked shrimp which was also very good. I had onion rings on the side which were just ok. They have a shellfish bisque which was heavenly. My wife and I both agreed it was the best soup we had ever tasted. If you like soup, you own it to yourself to try it. Sure it is expensive but it is well worth it.
