We had a party of four in the middle of the week and the place was not that busy but, the food was the worst I have ever eaten . I was told this was fresh seafood, the first lie. The flounder was half cooked and the other half was raw. The scallops were mystery meat, the second lie. We asked to see the management but the waitress said she talked to the cook. We come to South Carolina about six times a year and I'll never come back to this place. And I'll tell others how they will be served in your place of business. HORRID!

My family and I dined at Nance's on 9/4 which was a very busy Labor Day weekend but it was a wonderful dining experience. The staff was so friendly. We ordered mostly seafood dinners which we learned quickly that one platter is enough for two people and we will be sharing the next visit. I got the seafood platter which was scrumptuous. The rest of my family agreed that Nance's is by far the best seafood restaurant we have ever eaten at. We don't get to visit often as we like but we will definitely return each time we vacation in the area. Great job Nance's.

We were told this was the best seafood in Myrtle Beach and I can tell you it was extremely disappointing. We had to take a taxi to the location, the fare was costly and we thought that is okay because the food is supposed to be amazing...well not at all. Very bland all the fish, the sword fish was tasteless, the flounder boring, and the shrimp, scallops and everything we order was very disappointing. The only thing of interest was the Hush Puppies okay. Not worth the price and definitely not worth the 18% they tack on for ovedr six people.

We have eaten at Nance's over the years, but of late it has really not maintained the level of quality that put it in the top tier of Murrell's Inlet restaurants. We ate there in June 2011 and there were only eight or nine other parties despite it being the busy dinner period. The view is great, the service was fine, and the hushpuppies are wonderful. That's where the positives ended for us. The seafood that we ordered fried was heavily battered and much too greasy. The shrimp were very small, and the scallops were mushy. The flounder was ok. Another diner in our party ordered a ribye that came out unbelievably thin and overcooked. If you want seafood, stick with Sarah J's, Lee's Inlet Kitchen, or Sea Captain's House. These three have consistently provided us the best seafood meals over the past five years.

I can't believe the good reviews for this restaurant! My party of four was extremely disappointed! Seamed all the food except for the simple iceberg salad was frozen. Hushpuppies were good. The half pound of shrimp were large and very good, but would be hard to screw up. Clam chowder looked and tasted canned. Crab cakes were eatable. The flounder was overcooked and not eatable. There wore no vegetables available except reheated frozen corn on the cob (like the frozen stuff in a grocery store) my wives flounder was tasteless and similar to what you would except from a cheap buffet.. The tables were sticky silver was cheap glasses were plastic. The quality was equivalent to a bad $5.00 Sandwich shop. Would not consider recommending this restaurant to anyone.

We were down at the beach for the annual Shriner's convention and we decided to look for some good seafood, so we started driving and we drove down to Murrels Inlet and we saw Nance's and decided to stop. It was great. We don't live but about an hour away so it is no problem to drive down there on the weekends. My husband also added to thank you for having a lunch time seafood menu. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We will be back.

My wife and I eat at Nance's last summer(2010). My wife eat a filet mignon that was cooked perfectly and I ate a fried seafood platter, which the portions was huge, battered and fried perfectly. The food was excelent. Our server, Deborah was a sweetheart and probably the best server i have ever had, even better than other servers I had at Nances before. The only problem with the atmosphere was the manager that followed our waitress through the dining room cussing, every other word was the "F" word. We left the girl extra on her tip after seeing how she was being treated. I don't know what the managers name is, but the way he is towards employees and talks too them that way in front of customers, maybe the owner should look for someone to replace him. Over all it was great and we will return in 2011, hope Deborah is working when we return.

I would recommend Nances to anyone visiting Murrells Inlet.

Visited Nance's for an early dinner in March, 2011. My husband loved the fried seafood platter. (the scallops were the lg.sea scallop variety) I ordered broiled scallops ( which was offered on the menu) and rec'd tiny scallops that looked like they had been simmered in liquid. They had a sprinkling of paprika on them but had no flavor or taste at all. I will say that the cole slaw was very good. Since I try not to eat fried food; I would not go back there

Every place has a policy, and waiting till your whole party is there to be seated is one of theirs. Which obviously helps out the server to better serve you. The way you're treated obviously has a lot to what attitude you bring yourself..

Went here a few months ago and found myself being waited upon by a punk kid. We ordered our food and he didn't give us any plates. I had to get up and ask for plates so we could eat. He would come "check" on us every 15 minutes it seemed. He was so rude to my girlfriend and I that thinking about the experience fills me with anger. I think i heard him try to tell the manager that my girlfriend and I were trying to skip the check in order to steer the focus off himself and make us look like we did something wrong. It was an amazement that I didn't knock him out in the restaurant

My husband, Mother-In-Law and I went to eat at Nance's last night. We are locals so we have been there a few times. My husband and Mother-In-Law ordered Oysters. My husband got Oysters that were in big clusters like Oysters usually are. My Mother In Law had a pan full of just one single Oyster and they were so small. We told our waitress and she went and got someone else who said that the small single Oyster was a typical Murrells Inlet Oyster and the big ones were not. WHAT??? Of course my husband told her that we were locals and we knew what Oysters looked like. It looked like they had taken the bottom of the pan and dumped them in her pan and served them to her. What was crazy was the Oysters came from the same place and one was a typical Murrells Inlet Oyster and the other one was not. The lady just walked off. You know this is the worse customer service EVER!! She should have said let me go back and get you another pan. She stood there and argued which is not what she should have done.We will never go back again and we will not recommend Nance's to anyone like we have in the past.

I never knew how much people whined until I started reading some reviews on this website. To the people that complain about not being seated until your whole group has arrived that is the norm at most restaurants I've waited tables many years n there's not many things more aggravating than a portion of your table seated n strsgglers coming in one at a time. Usually you are not our only table. And maybe the hostess was just doing her job(ever consider that)? That being said I've eaten at this restaurant many times n always walk away with a to go box. Portions are way more than I can eat n I have never had a bad meal there. Keep up the good work.

Dined on 10/9/2010 at 4:00 pm. Both hostesses were rude. We were not to be seated until all of our party arrived. You know how that is. You always have a couple of straglers who can't get there on time. We had several aged individuals who really needed to be seated, but the hostesses were just downright nasty. That being said, the hushpuppies are delicious, but they are very chincy with the hushpuppies. Ask for some more gratis be prepared for more nastiness. The fried seafood was good. The portions were light and the dishes were overpriced. Not a great experience. We will not be back.

Paulianna if you truly are the owner like you said I would be ashamed to admit it. When addressing a customer the least you could do is get off your cell phone. Especially if they are coming back because YOUR ESTABLISHMENT forgot to add the side dish to the to go order. Nothing makes a person want to post a comment more than when a person claims to be the owner of an establishment and they are just rude and disrespectful. I hope this is an eye opener for you and you realize that LOCALS keep you in business during the off season. I will not be back and I will never recommend this place to anyone when they visit. Let's face it you are just one of 100's of local eateries and word of mouth from locals is what drives small business in this little town. Good luck and I hope you change your ways.

Nance's used to be a great place on the Inlet to have a meal and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The quality of the food has gone down and the prices are quite high considering the food. The dining room is shabby and felt dirty. The woman's restroom was disgusting. The hushpuppies and the view were the only good thing still there.

The servers are pleasant but sometimes the wait for food can be long (but its worth it). Nice view of the marsh, especially if you get a window seat.

My wife, daughter and I just returned from our first of many trips to SC and Nance's. The excellent food was complimented by the superior and pleasant service by Deborah, our waitress. We were immediately seated at a window overlooking the salt marshes. The ambiance was typical for these low country restaurants with the noise level at a comfortable level for us not too loud and we were able to converse and hear one another easily. Deborah gave us a quick lesson on shucking the oysters, and also told us a little about the local areas where they were harvested from. All in all an excellent and fun dining experience.

.We visited Nance's Oct.09 because we had been the year before and enjoyed it very much. This last visit was horrible. My shrimp had a metal taste. They replaced it with flounder which was poor, too much breading. I could not eat it My husband had a seafood platter which was also fair. We had poor service with 2 different waiters. Our first one had to go home because her name was pulled, and they were very slow. For l long spell no one seemed to be taking care of us. Window were so dirty we could not see out onto the marsh. The year before it had been so good we were looking forward to returning. Due to such a bad experence, we will not be returning to Nance's ever. We are looking for another place to eat. We have eaten much better seafood in the Raleigh/Durham area in NC.

We are a local couple who was at Nance's restaurant with an out of town couple on Wednesday night, March 3rd. Two of us ordered the seafood combo which included oysters and one ordered just oysters. They were so tough that they could not be eaten and had to be left on the plate. When we reported this to the waitress she said she would talk to the kitchen. She reported back to our table that they were "imported" and "sorry" about that. We have been frequent visitors to this restaurant over the years but felt this was not a satisfactory response considering the price that was paid. There is too much competition for our dollars in Myrtle Beach, SC. and many great restaurants. We will not be returning to Nance's Restaurant.

This is one the best seafood restaurants on the east coast that I have dined at. We had a group of 8 and everyone was pleased. Prices are very reasonable for a seafood restaurant. The hushpuppies are delicious. We had the local steamed oysters and they were so good. We also had a variety of entrees including the grouper which was declicious. Next time we go, I am going to try the steampot that the table next to us got that looked and smelled scrumptious. We will definitely return on our next trip and recommend highly to our friends and family. Glad we found your place and keep up the good work.

We visited on Sept 24th 09. the only reason we drove from Surfside to MI was for Nances and "Oysters" the service was great the place has some history to it, you notice that as soon as you walk in, They dident have any local oysters they just had gulf oysters. (they said its still a little hot out side for the local ones) everything in my opinion was great. IF YOU want oysters and you wanna shuck, thats the place! they have a hole cut in the middle of the table and you throw your shells in the can under the hole.

Our party of 4 went to Nance's on Tuesday, 9/21 for dinner largely because of positive reviews on this web site. Having now been there, the meal was OK but the service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress just couldn't get it together. My wife ordered a platter of fried shrimp, flounder and scallops, but when the meal came out the flounder was missing. I ordered steak and fried shrimp. The steak came out by itself, along with the excuse from the waitress that she was currently having them cook my shrimp so they weren't cold when they came out. They weren't hot when I got them anyway. I must say when my wife's flounder came out, it was the best thing I tasted that night. The steak was also cooked quite a bit more than medium as I ordered it. The couple with us seemed to fair a little better, and their broiled seafood looked more appetizing than our meals did. Overall, I would probably go back to Nance's and hope for a better waitress.

I haven't been to Nance's for many years but how I recall the wonderful service and mouth watering food. I'm planning a trip in October and have made plans to make a return visit. I have told my children how wonderful it is. Looking forward to sharing this restaurant with my kids and friend (hope the parking lot still has all the clam shells in it and the holes in the center of the tables)

I have a new favorite in Murrell's Inlet. Nance's is the best. Their clams were steamed to perfection, their fried shrimp was lightly breaded, very fresh tasting, and not overcooked like those chain seafood restaurants. Service was great, and the marsh views at sunset were wonderful. Highly recommend, but get there early, as it is the worst kept secret around, and others feel just as enthusiatic about this place as I do. After 6:30, you're looking at an hour plus wait to be seated.

Great Oysters!! There was a line when we arrived (around 6:30) but we only waited 10 mins. very good service, fast efficient, professional, yet we didn't feel rushed. We had a party of 6 and all enjoyed what we had. Great views, rustic atmosphere, casual. Not fine dining but relaxed and friendly, this place has it all. Short drive from Myrtle Beach(10min) far enough off the beaten path and away from the buffetts and franchises. This place was reccommended by a bartender in Surfside and she was right on, it was great we'll be back every time we go to the beach.

Nance's is the best seafood we've found in the Myrtle Beach area, but it's not the best seafood I've ever eaten. We usually go to Nance's 1-2 times during our annual vacation there. We also usually try a new seafood place and are usually disappointed. Nance's has never disappointed us. The wait and the noise are typical of beach restaurants. Our service has always been good. The views of the sound, the hushpuppies and honey butter, stuffed flounder, and raw oysters are great. My husband usually gets steamed clams and enjoys them. The salads, baked potatoes, and french fries could be much better. I'm not saying Nance's is phenomenal, but it's better than any other local seafood place we've found in the area.

We came in with a group of 8 and not one of us left disappointed. The service was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of dining. The wait was a little long but we expected that for this time of year. We dined around 7:30 which seems to be prime time. The Steam Pot is truly amazing. It has a little bit of everything. My son ordered a broiled seafood platter and loved it. The time to get our food was reasonable. We ordered several broiled and grilled items which always takes longer cooking time than fried food. We will definitely return on our next vacation.

This was a place my wife and I ate at last year, 7/15/08, and were disappointed. As I have seen others say, don't know if people just don't know what good seafood is or not, but ours wasn't that great. I had heard good things about Nance's, so we figured we'd give it a try. We're from FL, so we can get good fresh seafood in our own back yard. Waitress was poor at best, never asked how our food was, hardly ever came by to check on us. Food was high priced and was something I could have got for less at a seafood chain. As soon as we left, we drove around some more and found some better ideas for this year.

By far the best seafood I have ever eaten. I got the fish of the day which was salmon and to the review below, yes, Murrells Inlet is adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean which has a variety of fish, including salmon. It was delicious. We were a party of six and we got a variety of seafood as well as steaks. Everything was fresh and delicious. Their food isn't coated down with cheeses and sauces like other franchises which mask the true flavor of fresh seafood. We are going to be in the Myrtle Beach area for a week and plan on coming back to Nance's at least twice again before we leave. We have been to most of the seafood restaurants in the Murrells Inlet area and by far Nance's tops each of them.

What a disappointment!!! The seafood on our broiled platters was not fresh. I had to resort to using tartar sauce for some flavor ( I never use tartar sauce on seafood!!!). I could not finish the scallops. The cole slaw was pitiful. On a positive note, the hush puppies were tasty and our server was friendly and attentive. I glad we arrived when the buy one get one half price was in effect. We saved $10 on 2 not so good meals. Also, since when is the Catch Of The Day in Murrell's Inlet, SC SALMON?

Awful! This was our 2nd trip here. We waited longer for our food (40 minutes) than we did to be seated. The prices for the portions are very high and the kid's menu is overpriced and limited of any variety. Our waiter was great but was waiting on so many tables that he couldn't devote any time to us. The food that should have been cold was hot as well as the food that should have been hot was cold. The bill for two adults and one child was very disppointing.

Went here with my wife and another couple to celebrate our birthdays. Has been a yearly routine. And very much to our liking. This year our server ,forgot his name, was terrible . He messed up our orders and food was barely warm. We ordered an appetizer of roasted oysters. Finding out at the end of meal we were charged for a 3rd dinner. Each of us had a BUY ONE GET ONE 1/2 PRICE.. When we asked why when we asked specifically for an appetizer were charged for a third dinner. His replied was curt and sarcastic- it is not my problem the computer figures it. We asked to see manager . We were told he was busy. Well, the four of us reluctantly paid the bill. But will never return to Nance's again

My family and I were on vacation and we did some inquiring as to the best seafood and Nance's was recommended by several people. They didn't steer us wrong. From the awesome hushpuppies, the seafood platters and the Steampot, we were very pleased with it all. My wife doesn't care for seafood so she got a New York Strip (watch out Outback), she said it was by far the best steak she had ever eaten. Not too shabby considering they are known for their seafood. Our server, Debra, was a nice touch to the whole dining experience. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food.

After going to one of those lousy "touristy" seafood buffet places, we went here on the advice of our tour guide who said that the places in Murrell's Inlet had the best seafood in the area. In short, he was right. My wife said the peel and eat shrimp was the best she's ever had. We both had fish and deviled crab -- great quality, nothing fancy, just good fresh seafood. The view over the marsh was neat as well -- just about every seat in the place offers a view. Finally, the local draft lager is worth a try if you're a beer person. Not sure if we're going back to Myrtle next year, but we would go here again in a heartbeat -- well worth the drive down even from North Myrtle.

I had read the reviews and since it was highly recommended I told my husband the great reviews it had received on here. I'm not sure if people just don't know what good seafood tastes like I don't agree with the excellent reviews. This was the worst I've ever had. It was greasy and tasteless from the hush puppies to the fried fish, fried shrimp and lobster tail. The atmosphere is fine I wouldn't recommend bringing any children there it is very quiet, luckily our children are very well behaved. It is in a nice location on the water. Our waitress was fine she didn't go out of her way just did her job. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I was introduced to Nance's by friends during my teen years and I've been going back every year for the past 30 years. Nance's has the best seafood at the best price of any of the seafood restaurants in Murrell's Inlet and Myrtle Beach area. I would drive four hours just to eat at Nance's. The service is always good and it is always clean, even the restrooms. We usually try to get there for the Early Bird Specials, so we rarely have to wait in line.

Was disappointed with the selection. I am diabetic and was not able to get the restaurant to substitute a reasonable vegetable. All they would offer was corn on the cob or the usual fried stuff. I was able to have a small salad for an additional charge. This is the only restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area where I was not accomodated to my satisfaction this year. I guess they do not believe in steamed vegetables. I must say that my broiled shrimp and small salad were ok. Jim Sutton JRS

What a fantastic place to dine. My wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law from Ontario Canada ate here for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. We were 15 min. early for the early bird but they seated us anyway even though they weren't actually opened yet. All our meals were excellent and we would recommend this place to everyone. Prices were in line for the food but I was a little taken back by the price of a Vodka martini {$11.00} other then that everything was super.

I enjoyed the smoke free enviroment, the only smoke was from the steamed oysters. there is a smokeing area in the bar which is convinent for smokers. I also enjoyed the fresh seafood that taste like it was just pulled out the water. The staff there was very friendly. I was told 10-15 for seating time and they got me in and seated in just 5. The view was beautiful. You can see for miles out the windows that surround the inlet. I will be sure to return next summer. I highly recomend this place for an enjoyable experience.

You see, I have Asthma and sometimes I have to leave the restuarant a few time in order to not have an Asthma attack. The food is good and I'm a regular when I visit my grand-parents. They have a Condo around Garden City and I enjoy the smoked oysters.

The wait here was shorter than the rest....and we found out why once we ate there. Service was poor and our waitress rude. Kids soft drinks surprised us that they did not come with kids meal and added a $2.50 charge per kids drink. Atmosphere....ummm none. Once the food came out it was lackluster. The best thing about this place were the hushpuppies they bring to the table while you wait for your food. Other than that...nothing to good.Would not recommend to a friend.

We took the advice of many that reviewed this place and boy do we feel duped! This place is not much better than a Shoney's. The hushpuppies were yummy, but everything was down hill from there. The fried shrimp was of a nice size but were tasteless. The fries were crinkle-cut high school cafeteria style. My wife had the steak and shrimp and I thought they brought her steak and jerky. The steak was dry and charred. This would be expected if I paid $9.95 for my meal, but how about nearly twice that? Please save your money or choose someplace else. I could not beleive there were people waiting to be seated... They must be first timers!

Very yummy meal! The food was plentiful and fresh. Loved the view overlooking the marshland and inlet. The only problem was that the kids chicken tender meal we thought we ordered turned out to be the adult chicken tender meal (I guess the server figured since the kids were splitting it?), and so our early-bird discount was off that meal instead of a regular meal. A bit disappointed that they didn't fix that error, but at least we had lots of extra food to take home!

We ate at Nance's twice during our most recent vacation. The food was excellent each time. We tried the fried platter on our first trip. The flounder was a good size fresh and lightly fried filet with a good flounder taste that is hard to find. The breading used is very light and doesen't influence the taste too much. The scallops, and shrimp were also very good. The oysters were not the best I've had but were better than average. Overall the platter would rank # 2 or 3 on my list of fried seafood. On our second trip we took friends. Our order included fried platters, grilled grouper, and crab cakes. The fried platters were as good as the first visit. The grilled grouper was a little better than average and the crab cakes were excellent. We plan to return and recomend Nance's to all our friends. Hopefully the quality will remain consistent through future visits.

April 28, 2008. For 17 years at the beach I have always made the extra drive to Nances, primarily for the oyster stew. I average 10 times / year with parties of 4 to 16. But, alas, they have taken the oyster stew off the menu, and when asked, manager Adam refused to make it for our party. I'm sure Nances will do fine without our business. The rest of their menu is top notch. But without the oyster stew, its not worth the drive from North Myrtle.

Well, the flounder stuffed with crab is pretty good and extremely big. The shrimp is mouth watering, and the flounder was O.K. The she crab soup was extremely hot but after you let it cool it can be good, its extremely thick, and if you want some of this soup get the small size. The crab cakes are very yummy. As usual the hush puppies with honey butter were tastey. So all in all the food was good.

While visiting Myrtle Beach in 2004, we were watching the local television program and on it, mentioned Nance's. We had never been to Murrell's Inlet so we decided to tour the area and give it a try. Everything about Nance's was spectacular (the food was delicious, large portion, price was very reasonable, and the scenery is AWESOME!!) Make sure to ask for a window seat!! Highly recommend it! Can't wait to visit Nance's on our next trip in late April!

My experience at Nance's has been excellent all four times I have eatten there. We are from New England and Part of our last trip to South Carolina was to eat at Nances!! This is a very true statement. We have enjoyed the oyster roast each time that includes shrimp, little neck clams, crab legs, corn and boiled potatoes all seasoned perfectly. When you are seated they bring you warm fresh hush puppies with a delicious honey butter. I recommend this experiece to anyone traveling this way.

My husband and I have travelled to the Myrtle Beach area for the past 4 years. We heard about the wonderful food in Murrell's INlet and decided that we had to give it a try even though it was a bit of a drive from North Myrtle Beach, where we stay...it was worth EVERY minute of travel time!! The food is always VERY fresh, the service is excellent, and the view is awesome as well!! Nance's in our ABSOLUTE favorite in the ENTIRE Myrtle Beach area!!

We tried this restaurant in April 2007 during a weekend getaway. We liked it so much the first night we ate there, we came back the second night. We did not try any of the fried seafood, but thought that the steamed/roasted seafood was outstanding. The got steamed oysters the first night. They are local oysters and had a great flavor. The shrimp cocktail was good too. The shrimp were so fresh. The next night we splurged on the roast/steam pot for two. It was heavenly. The clams, crab, shrimp and oysters were great. We look forward to going back again next time we visit that area.

If you are looking for a not-so-fancy place to get some decent seafood for a good price this is it. I have had mostly fried seafood here and it was pretty good. It is one of those wooden table with a hole in the center type of restaurants.

We are locals and eat at Nance's at least once a month. We have always been so pleased with the food and service. We take all our visitors there too and they love it. I've had the cold boiled shrimp and they are fantastic! Also the seafood platter is terrific - everything on it is delicious and so fresh and cooked perfectly (I have to get it fried). The best deviled crab I've ever had! Scallops cooked to perfection. And flounder or grouper both wonderful. Have also had the king crab legs and they are great. My husband is a steak lover - and is always raving about how great it is. In short - have never had a bad experience in the over 2 years we've been visiting Nance's.

Going to Nance's has been a family tradition since I was a child. Sometimes the wait is horrible, but that is only because they are so popular and people are lined up waiting to get in. The food and the service is wonderful. I hate to hear that some people had bad or cold food, or that it tasted frozen. I have never experienced that. We were just there on vacation and everything was wonderful )hot, fresh, delicious) and the service superb. I wish I could get there hush puppy recipe!!!!!!!!!! I had crab legs one night and an oyster roast the next. They give you tons of food for a great value!!!

My wife and I have been coming to the MB area for several years and we tried Nance's for the first time last Tues. It was a pleasant experience. I had the oysters and they were excellent. My wife had the grilled swordfish, and it was the best swordfish that she had ever had. We're from Massachusetts, so we have access to fresh fish, and Nance's excellent seafood made us feel like we were home. Our server was the best we've had since we've been coming down here. We were so impressed with Nance's, that we returned again on Fri. and asked for the same server. My wife had the scallops and I again had the oysters -- both were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Four of us ate there on 09-12-07. We ordered 1 large seafood platers with flouder, and scallops. The scallops was good, the flounder was old and mushy, not fit to eat, my wife ordered shrimp and deviled crab, it tasted old and warmed over. My friends had broiled and fried flounder, the brolied flounder had water in the plate when served from being broiled, my friend fried flouder was old and mushy also. Food as a whole was not up to par. We will be a long time in going back.

I would agree with more recent reviewers, we have visited this restaurant since about 1996..........it has gotten worse. The food does seem to be mostly frozen, and is not nearly as good as previously. Service ok, prices no more, or no less than anywear else. Quality not what it once was. They have a decent little bar now, but the guy with the beard is a big crab who made a big deal out of our kids being in there while we waited for our table. We will not be going back

One of the best places to eat seafood with an awesome view. I have many friends that go to Nance's as well as myself. There seems to be a lot of discrepancy between this restaurant and Cedar Hill Landing which by the way does not carry the name Nance. (This website needs to update their information about the name change). I have read comments toward Nance's about new owners, etc., etc, which is not true. Nance's Creek Front Restaurant was owned by partners. One of the partners still owns it. They have kept the same quality and in my opinion have gotten better. This restaurant has been in business since 1967. That speaks for itself. Wish they would open their restaurant where I live so I could eat their fabulous steampot more often.

A restaurant needs more than good hush-puppies. The family sold the business years ago. I remember it being excellent on earlier trips, but I think the new owners are not living up to the previous standard. If you are only out for hush-puppies.. you might enjoy it.

I live in Myrtle Beach and me and my family go to Nance's at least once a week to eat. By far they have the best quality seafood of any restaurant I have eaten at on the east coast. The steamed oysters are from their own oyster beds and they are delicious. I do know that the owner supplies fresh shrimp from his own shrimp boats and oysters from his oyster house in North Carolina. I have always been greeted with smiles and have never left hungry. Seafood is what originally brought me to Nance's but their steaks are very good as well. If you happen to go that way, ask for Patrice to be your server, she makes the whole dining experience complete. I'm a very picky eater and I have never been disappointed.

We have not dined at this restaurant in over a year due to our fairly newborn's schedule and it has changed for the worse. Since we moved to Myrtle Beach and now Murrell's Inlet we have visited Nance's several times. We mostly entertained friends and family visiting with the great view, atmosphere and good food at a good value. Many of our friends and family have since developed their own traditions with Nance's. This past Saturday night we took my wife's mother to dinner. The food was poor. Everything looked and tasted like it was frozen except the hush puppies which were good. Our food was cold and another patron called the waitress to address their cold potato. The slaw was room temperature as was the premium draft. We ate , paid the $75 bill and left as our little one was restless. Well...Saturday night...little one gassy all night...not unusual for the age, however my wife woke violently ill with nausea & diarrhea as my mother-in-law soon developed...probably a virus, however I called the next evening and spoke to Polly Anna. I explained what happened and she said no other complaints had been made. I then commented on the poor food...She immediately got defensive and stated there would always be someone unhappy and they still had the same chef and manager...I guess her.? ...She was not concerned over my family's health and did not care that our experience was not pleasant....as for me I just arrived home bloated as a tick...I am a retail manager with an iron stomach. I do not encourage anyone to ever visit this restaurant . Polly Anna, I would like my $74.94 back...no more no less..

Myrtle Beach's best restaurant by far! Right as you think you're going to fill up on the delicious hush puppies, your food arrives and you realize there is no way you stop eating until your plate is clean. I recommend the Seafood Platter- it allows you to have some of everything you want on the menu. Hands down, Nance's is number 1!

Two things that took away from our meal at Nance's recently. (1) They allow cigar smoking in the dining room. We had a table of golfers beside us and having to sit there in a cloud of cigar smoke took away from our meal.

(2) There was a group of 20 in front of us and we were warned that it would delay our meal, however it took 80 minutes from when we ordered until our meal arrived. 20 people is basically the same as 4 groups of 5 and it shouldn't have taken that long for them to provide us food.

Other than that, the food was good and I will give them another chance, though I wish they would ban the smoking or at least the cigar smoking. If I have to sit through that again, it will be my last visit.

Nance's is a family tradition for us. My mother has been eating here for years, and no trip to the beach is complete without a meal at Nance's. This is a down-home, fish camp kind of place, although they do have beer and wine. The large windows give a nice view of the water, making the view a little nicer than your typical country restaurant. This is not the type of place that I would recommend getting something like clam chowder or lobster. This is a place for fish camp food, fried fish and shrimp, etc. My mom syst they have the best crab legs of anywhere. I am fond of fried oysters, and I find them perfectly done here, never overcooked. The servers are friendly country girls, not pros, and pretty much how you treat them will determine how they treat you. They have always been super friendly to us, but I imagine at the height of the season, they are run ragged. The portions are generous, the beer is ice cold, and the service is friendly. If you want no-pretensions, reasonably priced, southern style seafood, this place is what you want.

My wife and I have made Nance's the place we go for lunch or dinner if we are within a hundred miles of Myrtle Beach. We were in Columbia on business many years ago and drove down to the coast to eat some crabs and oysters before we returned to Wyoming. The locals all recommended Nance's and we have been coming back ever since. They have changed over the years, especially after the huricane destroyed the restaurant a couple years back, but the oyster, shrimp and crab boil is still our favorite and worth the miles.

Everytime we come to the inlet, we eat at Nance's. You get real seafood, not coated down with seasonings that mask the true flavor of seafood. The reputation of this restaurant stays strong and true to its original recipes. The Nance family may have been bought many years ago but the true style of Murrells Inlet style seafood has never wavered. Keep up the good work, guys.
