Visiting from up north, we had no idea where to start eating here with a restaurant on every corner. We also did not know about big seafood buffets that apparently are popular here. After talking to a local walking on the beach, we were given a few ideas where to start. Mr Fish was on top of her list. So we located it on the GPS and decided to go in. 95 cents for a pop was very reasonable. After reviewing the various items on the homemade menu, we decided on the 14.99 platter which had 4 different items making up 15 pieces. OMG, the four different sauces that were included for each item made our eyes roll. We had never had this type of food before. The flavor of the lightly battered items was nothing short of amazing. To finish it all off, we tried the key lime pie. Again, OMG. Real key lime pie, just like Dexter. Anyhow, we will be going back today to sink our teeth into the rest of the menu.

We had heard so many good things about Mr. Fish so we thought we would try them (even after looking at their menu online & thinking it was a bit overpriced). The restaurant itself was cute, seemingly artsy and the staff seemed friendly enough (at first). We ordered our food - fish tacos, oyster poboy, kids mac & cheese, and kids chicken. First off the mac & cheese was super hot, and greasy....the fries on the side were barely warm. The rice on the side of the fish tacos was crunchy and the tacos only contained fish with cheese. The oyster poboy was okay, but the oysters were very greasy. Our server only came by to take our orders and then to ask if we were ok, more than halfway through the meal. He seemed like it was an inconvenience to check on us and he seemed put out by having to go get the kid's cookies. The kids meals were supposed to come with cookies, but they didn't. We had to ask to have them brought to us. And we didn't get drinks with either one of the kids meals, the server didn't ask and we were still charged the same price. Overall we were very, very disappointed and will not be going back.

Visiting MB for a short weekend, we were driving along N. Kings Highway when I spotted the picnic tables outside the restaurant in a small strip mall. I suggested we stop to look at the menu to see if there was anything we'd like to eat. When we stood in front of the menu board inside, one of the customers told us that this was the best fish place in town and that we wouldn't be disappointed if we dined there. Ok. We stayed. I asked the waiter what was the most popular entree. He told me he liked the Shrimp and Grits. I was hesitant to order it since I already had grits for breakfast that day! I decided to go with it. My husband ordered fried oysters/calamari platter w/cole slaw. OMG! The food was delicious and very generous portions. They will get our repeat business every time we go to MB. I can't wait to have the Shrimp and Grits again!!!

I found Mr. Fish in the yellow pages, then came here to read the reviews before we made the trek to try it out. Needless to say EVERYTHING was fantastic. Even the water. We had the Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Excellent. The boom boom shrimp tacos. Great. And the Seafood Alfredo, arguably some of the best I've ever had. Everything was fresh and tasty...reasonably priced and the service was friendly. Try it.

If you are looking for fresh seafood that is served in a friendly neighborhood manner with large portions then this is your place. Everything we had was great but the she crab soup is a must try. The seafood is cooked fresh as you order so be careful when you get it, it will be hot. If you are into fancy, then this is not your place. If you are into great seafood at a great price, then Mr. Fish is your place. It is a must for us whenever we visit the beach.

I think it is hit and miss as far as food is concerned. At my last visit my meal was well below par. The place could be a little cleaner.

My wife and I ordered off from the "specials board". She had the Wahoo and I had the walnut encrusted Grouper. The fish was fresh, flaky and excellently prepared. The fries are fantastic. There is only one other place I have had fries like those in my life and it's in Port Huron Michigan. I highly recommend eating at Mr. Fish. This resturaunt could be on the show "Diners & Dives" for it's uniqueness and great food. We'll come back next time we visit Myrtle Beach.

Mrs Fish is one of our best kept secrets. Many locals know this is the best place to go for fresh seafood at reasonable prices. The owners and staff make your meal even more enjoyable. Try it once and you will keep going back.

My family and I were looking for a seafood restaurant that was not a BUFFET for our last night in town. I had seen an advertisement for Mr. Fish on the beach tv program. We had remembered seeing it on our way back from Dixie Stampede the night before and it was packed. We went for take out b/c it was storming and my 3 year old fell asleep on the way. We ordered a variety of food, crabmeat mac&cheese-hushpuppies-flounder platter with garlic mashers-haddock sandwich with gumbo. All above and beyond in taste. I only wish we found this place sooner. We will be back and highly recommend. The owner even offered us a drink on him while we waited for our order. Such a cute little place with BIG BIG flavor!!!!!!!

The fish was excellent, but if you are bored, you can busy yourself squeezing grease out of the french fries. The waitress attempted to be helpful, but--we waited 50+ minutes to get our food. 9 other orders that were placed after us were filled first. We ordered a shrimp Po-boy and a shrimp platter so it was nothing special. They were the same price. I had 5 shrimp on my sandwich and my wife had a dozen on her platter. The only other difference was 2 limp pieces of lettuce and 2 paper thin slices of tomatoe on my sandwich, plus the hoagie roll. I should have taken the platter. The service was poor. 2 ladies at the next table started complaining about how in a hurry they were. They were immediately served. Service went downhill from there. If they would do some minor changing of space, they should be able to get 2-3 more tables. This was our second time there, and our last. There are too many other good seafood restaurants to put up with these service problems.

We ate here because their website wanted to be on diners, dives, and driveins, our type of place. Well, this place will never make it. It's very small, and kind of hot. We went for lunch and I thought the specials for the day were outrageously priced. My husband got a crabcake sandwich which he said was goo. I got a bowl of gumbo which was extremely spicey and had NO shrimp whatsoever like the server said it would. The service was fine, the menu selections were limited, I thought. We tried it, but we won't return.

I ordered take out on a chance, after seeing this place near where we were staying. It was a refreshing departure from the normal restaurant, because everyone was so friendly, and there was a specials board! It seemed full of love and I saw lots of locals. They offered me a water while I waited for my food, which was very nice. The food was so quickly prepared, and it turned out to be the best seafood I've eaten in Myrtle Beach! We had a crab cake sandwich and shrimp, flounder, and scallops. The hush puppies were so good, as was everything else. I am looking forward to eating here again! The prices were also better than other places.

Mr. Fish was recommended by the owner of the place we rented out. It's a hole-in-the-wall kind of place that you know will be filled with locals. Overall, it was hit and miss. My wife and I had the She-Crab soup. It was good, but it had a bit too much in fillers, like onions (which I detest) and celery. Entree's we had ranged from Outstanding (my Seafood Alfredo, which was delicious and loaded with shrimp and crabmeat) to Below Average (my wife's shrimp and grits, which was loaded with onions and green peppers and was inferior to the simpler dish in Charleston. In between, my daughter enjoyed her fish tacos while my son was not particularly pleased with his Fried Oyster Po' Boy, which I'd expect to be in Mr Fish's wheelhouse.

This is where you want to go for fresh, expertly-prepared seafood. It's extremely small, so the atmosphere and noise level are not close to a fine-dining establishment. Now, I love to dine at high-end places (being from the DC area originally); but for seafood I'll forego fanciness for taste and quality. The fried shrimp have a light batter that barely holds on; you can taste the sweetness of the shrimp. Portions are large, and they offer beer and wine. I am not a french fry eater, but theirs are the bomb! Check the 'specials' board before you order and be adventurous! As a local, this is one of my favorite places to eat seafood as it is intended.

Mr. Fish is without a doubt a no miss.It exudes a locals cool little seafood dive with a big surprise, the food.Everything is fresh and made to order however you want it cooked. No run of the mill fried joint here.Over 10 different fish to choose from with some awsome unique homemade sauces to accompany it.The blackberry wasabi was my fave of many.the shrimp and grits were by far the best ive had anywhere including charleston. The extra kicker is this place is cheap.Youd pay at least double anywhere else except there is no where else to get the Quality of freshness and broad choice.Dont miss it!
