Our visit was on the spur of the moment. Our first impression was of a place that was trying to maintain the rustic outward appearance while offering a high level of service within.

The positives: We had a delicious meal served by a gracious and professional waitress. Chilled salad forks individually delivered on a napkin-covered tray! The salads were smaller than we like, and, though delicious, the dressings seemed a bit watery. Our entrees were very well prepared, well presented, and delicious. My wife is still drooling over the steak and bernaise sauce. We skipped desert, to make that a separate trip later.

The negatives: The prices were what we expected for the food and the level of service, but we find it amazing that over the years the management has not found it necessary to invest some of the profits on improving, or even maintaining, the interior. The wall decor appeared to be right out of the 70's, in fact appeared that it had not moved since then. The plaster ceiling overhead had been accumulating dirt around the AC vent for some time. It appeared that nothing had been updated since it was open. But when we came out of the bathrooms and noticed very worn door frames and dirty doors that's when the irony of it all struck us. A five star meal in a two star environment.

Will we go back? Maybe. No complaints at all about the food or service, but the environment detracts measurably from the experience.

Took my wife here tonight for a special Valentines Day dinner. The food was excellent, the service was superb (thank you Susan and Mike!). The entire experience was nothing short of fantastic. We WILL be repeat diners!

We had dinner at The Mayor's House in August and we we're thrilled with our experience! This is now one of my all time favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and the service and atmosphere were perfect.

I had red snapper fixed California style, my wife had seared tuna. Both were fixed perfect and the she crab soup I had before my entree was so delicious it could have been dessert!

I met the owner and expressed how much we enjoyed our meal and how happy I was that they were once again in charge of this wonderful restaurant.

This is one of our better restaurants in Pawleys Island. The spicey shrimp appetizer was good. I had red snapper and my wife had grouper (fresh catches of the day). Both were well prepared and the presentation was great! Our dessert was the la orange flambue' prepared at our table. It was great! Our waiter was attentive but not overly attentive to distract. The atmosphere is formal and is more a place for a romantic meal with your significant other. I will go again! I want to try their shrimp and grits to see if it measures up to Louis'. Good food! Good atmoshpere! Good service!

We have not been in the area for 10 years and were not familiar with the local "dives". We took a chance on this place and it paid off. I will plan on returning next year. I had the snapper low country style - was the best dish of the week for me.

We just finished a marvelous meal at Mayor's. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I had the shrimp and scallop key west and my husband had the trigger fish Idaho style. Our children had the ribs and fried shrimp and ate every bite. Be sure to leave room for the custard crepes l'orange which is lit table side and is quite a show! Mayor's will definately be on our "must visit again list" for our next visit to the beach.

I am so glad Chet and Karen have taken back the Mayor's House. Once again, the food was fantastic as well as the wait staff and friendliness of everyone.

It was a pleasure having such top quality of food again. In addition to their regular menu, they now offer a children's menu as well as a vegetarian menu.

Kuddos to Chet and Karen. We're glad your back! We had a wonderful meal.

We will not be returning. We were a party of four and the service was inadequate. When we asked about the inattentive service, the response was "we're very busy tonight". There were numerous empty tables around us. The lobster was overcooked, they reluctantly agreed to replace it, which didn't arrive till well after everyone finished their meals. To make matters worse, they overcharged us by $100 on a bottle of wine. When we pointed it out, the server was not very apologetic about this, merely saying that he'd fix it. On a positive note, the remaining meals were very good. It was the service, or possibly just our server that made this an unpleasant experience for all of us.

I have been to many restaurants, but this one has them all beaten. The food was wonderful, the presentation, above any place else in the area. The service is prompt and professional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is in the Pawleys Island or Litchfield area. The review written about bad chicken, I feel that that person did not know fine dining, they even admitted that in the comment. I would never listen to such a review. The Mayor's House would be our first choice for any of the restaurants in the Pawleys Area.

This place is a diamond-in-the-ruff. They have a unigue menu and if everything is as good as the Grouper fish special I had, then wow! We have eaten at several other places in Pawleys Island and think the food here is better by far compared to similar restaurants of the same cuisine.

We had an awful experience. We had a large party and 3 of us got the chicken. It has an awful smell when she brought it to us. I assumed it was the sauce and started eating it anyway assuming that since I wasn't used to such elabarate dining that it was just me. I then realized that the chicken had a spoiled smell and tasted funny. They did take it back and we did not pay for the entree but managment should have came out and apoligized. We were never made to feel like they were there to satisfy us. We waited close to an hour for our food and the bills were all messed up and took numerous times to fix them all. I have never been there before but know I will never go back. I think the waitress tried not to be irritated but I feel she was put out with us and that didn't make things any easier.

We ate at the Mayors House on Jul 6, we had no reservation and were seated immediately at a nice table for 2, right by the window overlooking the pond. The table settings are very nice, with black clothes and plates, and antique looking silverware. I substituted the she crab soup for the side house salad and it was a great decision. We had the fish of the day: my wife ordered the grouper prepared San Francisco style, I took the snapper, prepared low country style (lots of bell peppers and a fried goat cheese). Our waitress Mary took very good care of us, made some suggestions and almost tempted us to take the "crepes a l'orange" for desert. We had enough food already, so we will come back for the crepes.

Our dining exprience on june 18 2006 was far below the level of distinction we have had the five previous summers. We were seated next to a table which had not been cleared and was not cleared until we were midway through our entrees. Food was cold, server was sarcastic and the "entertainment" a joke. We were very disappointed. Dining there was always something we looked forward to and enjoyed at least three times during our two weeks at the beach. So sad that the new owner has not maintained the fine reputation developed by the previous management..

My wife and I ate at the Mayors House on 6/24/06 and had a great meal and dining experience. We had no reservations but were seated immediatly by the window overlooking the little pond out front. Our waiter was very good and took care of us the whole time. My wife had grouper fixed the low country way. I had baby shrimp and lump crab. Both were excellent. There was live music being played and it really set the mood...the guy could really sing!! This place is for those wanting to get away from the "fried fish" places that dominate the area. We definitely highly recommend this place.

Reservations were made for a specific dining room. When we arrived, the waitress took us to a different dining room. When we objected, she showed us to a table in the dining room we made our reservations in. Our waiter came over right away and took our drink order. We then waited 15 minutes before our waiter came back with our drinks. Then, after waiting another 30 minutes, we finally had to find someone to bring us bread and butter. There was no management around the entire evening. The service was horrible. The quality of the food was poor. Unfortunately, the standards that The Mayior's House once had have dropped. It is not what it use to be. It appears as if there is no "hands on". A restaurant cannot run by itself. It is unfortunate that a successful restaurant has fallen down to the level it has. The quality of food is poor in relation to the prices. When we left there was no one around to talk to.What a shame for such a lovely restaurant to have such low standards.

11-21-05 The Mayors House is a dining treat for SC. We dined there on November 21st, 2005. Not only is the seafood cooked perfect, it looks as good as it tastes. My wife had the rack of lamb special with lobster tails and we have yet to find any place that can prepare this dish. Our service was excellent. We will be back soon and pass the word.

We enjoyed our meal, the Shrimp and Grits were very good with the unusual addition of goat cheese and the Veal Oscar,

She Crab soup and dessert were also well prepared and very good.

The service was excellent, but the atmosphere is rather drab and dull and our table overlooked a weedy pond.

I have been to many a restaurant and the Mayor's House was very very good, the service was the best I have seen, the food was awesome and the wine was even better. They are not just a seafood restaurant they also have Lamb, Beef, Filet Mignon, Osso Bucco, and many more things, and the Best She Crab Soup. The next time I am in the Litchfield area, I will go back to The Mayor's House Restaurant.
