Review: I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great service and meal we received on Sat. August 13,
I would also like to ask you about a restriant called the wayside that was open near your location in the late 60's and 70's. I went there because the seafood platter was the best in MB. It had all the seafood plus a small lobster tail and a dish of lime sherbert for desert. I noticed that you mentioned the wayside in your menu pamplet. Did you folks know of the owners of the wayside? Their clam chowder was the best I have eaten and I have never found it again, I returned sometime later to find the doors closed and out of business.
Just thought I would enquire and thank you again for a wonderful meal. Your clam chowder was close to what was served at the Wayside but not exactly.
I"m sure that the orginial owners have since past on, because I can remember the old lady visiting the tables and enquiring about the meal. My friends and I became regular customers as we would return there every year on our annual golfing trip.
Again thank you,and I would like to hear from you if your family remembers the wayside owners.
Thanks
Richard Halloran

Review: Great place to eat. We where there about 5 PM and were seated right away. The corn dodgers were great and they gave us all we wanted. All they adults order the combo with flounder, stuff crab and shrimp for $14.99 it was excellent. Best food in myrtle beach area and the price was cheap for that amount and quality.
Would recommend to anyone.

Review: very pricey but food quality was excellant. Bought the shore dinner and part of the dinner description was Lobster tail,,, only problem was--it was 1/2 of a tail....Thought that was sort of a representation,, mentioned that to the waitress and she said, "yes a whole tail would be nice" !! It was $37.00 for this dinner. 4 small shrimp,1/2 lobster tail, 2 scallops, 2 crab cakes, a nice flounder fillet, and fries, she crab soup, 4 oysters and salad with hush puppies.

Review: My mother sister and I all stayed st Litchfield Beach this past June, and noticed Lees Inlet Kitchen on our way to Myrtle for dinner one night. We had heard of the superb seafood in and around Murrells Inlet, so we decided to stop. It was around 6:30 at night, and our time to be seated was only about 30 minutes, not bad at all. I can't remember the names of the dinners we ordered, however my mom and sister both had Lobster tails, both were undercooked on the edges where the meat had folded itself under (*I would like to point out the tails were HUGE, thus could be the cause, but never a bad thing). Mom actually had to send hers back TWICE, which was an inconvenience, however the bill reflected our wait due to this. I had a seafood platter of sorts, the lobster half on mine was done perfectly, but the scallops were slightly underdone (again, they were HUGE so this could be the problem). EVERYTHING else was delicious though. The atmosphere was relaxed and quaint, the staff friendly, and the prices, though not cheap, were expected prices for a nice seafood dinner at nice restaurant. I would go back if in the area, and would recommend it to someone looking for this type of restaurant.

Review: This is more of a question than a review. I have eaten at Lee's numerous times over the years and have most of the time enjoyed it. I did think the last time I was there that the quality had declined but the food was still good. It was jus not excellent like it was 10 years or so ago. After reading some negative reviews, I was wondering if Lee's management has addressed any of these comments and what is their answer. Do they think the quality has slipped and if so, why?

Review: Ordered the fresh caught Grouper, fried. It was great. Never had she crab soup anywhere else, but this tasted good to me. My husband said it was good she crab soup and he has eaten it before at other restaurants. He had Flounder (fried and broiled) during 2 different visits. He preferred the fried Flounder. He orders the seafood platter, fried. Salads are ok. I think the hushpuppies don't compare with other I have tasted in the Myrtle Beach area, but they were still eaten. Some liked the hushpuppies more than others. It seems to be a personal preference. Never had to wait in line and the food was delicious. Waitresses were excellent on all visits.

Review: Very sad to say we (11 people in our group) were not very happy with the food at Lee's that came with high recommendations. I ordered Lobster tails that came at a price of $49.95. For that price I really expected a wonderful meal. The tails were way UNDER cooked and rubbery! I had to wait and wait for our waitress to come back into our area and flag her down with my request to have the tails put back under the broiler and cooked properly. She just looked at me and said...."I'm not surprised you have to have them sent back because I've had the same request from several other orders of Lobster tails today". I would have been more watchful if I had been her since she was aware of the problem!!!!!!!!! Vegatable of the day was lima beans, please tell me how many places serve them as the only veggie of the day? It would have been nice to have more to choice from, such as corn, broccoli, etc.TOO COSTLY for a very disappointing meal.

Review: I really don't understand the negative reviews. We have been coming to Lee's Inlet Kitchen for over 30 years and NEVER have had anything but a WONDERFUL meal. We have tried many different seafood establishments and none compare with Lee's. No question it is the BEST seafood in the area...hands down. We are coming to the beach next week and Lee's , as always, will be at the top of our dining list.

Review: I have eaten at the Inlet Kitchen since i was a boy, I am now 59. I knew Mrs Lee when she ran the resturant and I think her grand daughter runs it now. The food has been wonderful for 56 years and I am sure as long as the Lee's own it, it will stay that way. Thank you for all the wonderful food and memories.

Review: I just here 15 minutes ago and the experience was outstanding. We were seated immediately, the great hush puppies & salads were served within minutes. Our drink glasses were never empty and our finished plates never set for more than a minute or two. My son had the crab cakes & I had grouper - couldn't be better. My serving was huge! I would give Lee's Inlet Kitchen my highest recommendation.

Review: The reviews posted here are very misleading. We were celebrating my mother's birthday and were sadly dissapointed This restaurant is very over-priced, portions are on the small side and the quality of the food was pitiful. On the up side, We were seated immediately at 7:00 on a Saturday night and our server was extremely gracious about the lack of quality of the food.

Review: All I can say is, this must be one of those places that stays pretty for the tourists, lure them in, and serve food that does not live up to the promise....
All frozen. If this place makes their own crab cakes, it is only by thawing out frozen crab cakes, and adding more cracker meal.
A good example of "serve 'em anything, they won't be back 'till next year anyway..."
Drove here from N. Myrtle. Was taken in by the nice exterior. VERY disappointed in the food. Having lived on the Strand for a few years now, I am used to getting over charged for sub par food. Was hoping this would be an exception. It wasn't.
Avoid this one...

Review: We always went to Lee's when I was a child, now at 50, we returned and it did not disappoint. My scallops and shrimp were done to perfection. The She Crab soup was awesome. The hushpuppies are as addictive as crack. Everything was incredible and just as I remembered it. Thanks for a wonderful meal.

Review: Wow. What an over priced restaurant. My wife's ny stip was mostly fat & hard to even cut...let alone eat. The peas were clearly out of a can, mushy with a bad taste and inedible. My crab cakes for $24.50 were gross. The lump crab soup was really good, but learn how to make a better crab cake & stop obviously cutting corners on just about everything. Nice atmosphere, nice people and good service. Let's be clear, i've never written a review (good or bad) online about my dining experiences...but this needed to be done. It was just so obvious..

Review: While the service was great, the food was, at best, below average. My crab cakes were tastless and made with too much filler. My wife's Shrimp Creole tasted like it was made with a can of tomatos and a couple shrimp with little spice as possible added. For the prices charged our dinners were certainly not worth it. This was the second time in a week that we ate at Lee's and the results were the same. I believe in giving any restaurant a second chance but not a third.

Review: I have been coming to Lee's since the mid 60's while growing up in Asheville, NC. Have lived in New Bern for 30 plus years and every trip to Mrytle Beach involves a trip to Lee's Inlet Kitchen. Without a doubt, the best restuarant on the Grand Strand!

Review: We usually enjoy dining at Lee's but this visit my Broiled platter was not up to par. My Broiled Fantail Shrimp were rubbery and cold and my Broiled Salmon tasted like it was old. Lee's needs to improve on Broiled Seafood. This is not the first time we have not liked the Broiled Shrimp. I think they are using Pre-cooked Shrimp and reheating under the broiler.

Review: The She Crab Soup is to die for at this place and the Filet of Flounder... Oh my... we can't figure out how in the world they cook the flounder and have it come out so good every time! I've been eating at this restaurant since 1965 when I was 9 years old and I've never once had a bad meal there. Same family has always owned the establishment and they take pride in preserving what their parents started many years ago.

Review: We've been vacationing in the MB area for 15 years, and until this year Lee's has been our favorite restaurant. We expect a slight price incease from year to year, but this year it seemed like there was a significant spike in prices. To pay $20.99 for 15 shrimp, mediocre salad, and potato is ridiculous. There simply is nothing about the atmosphere, food or service that deserves to be priced a lot higher than comparable restaurants. I had a shrimp and oyster platter (don't remember the price). Neither the shrimp or oysters had much taste. The hushpuppies are still the best in the area. The new "lite" menu is priced lower, but the seafood portions are about half the size. Its just not worth it anymore. However, a local advised us to try Sara J's, and it was fabulous. Better atmosphere, better taste and better prices! Thats our new favorite.

Review: Having read bad ratings we were initially put off by this restaurant of 61 years but figured if they have been serving for 61 years something has to be right. We were very impressed and delighted. I ordered the 3 choice platter, the oysters were plump selects with light breading and absolutely fantastic. The fantail shrimp and flounder were also fresh and deliciously prepared. Even the tarter sauce was great. Key Lime pie - awesome. My husbands grilled platter was equally wonderful, we put this restaurant in our top two in Murrells Inlet. Food was fabulous, service great, 5star experience.

Review: My wife and i have been visiting Lee's for many years. The food is good, but pricing is too high for what you get. They need to upgrade their selection of Salad Dressings; they are 10 years behind on what dressings are most popular.
Broiled Seafood, especially broiled Fantail Shrimp , are not well prepared.

Review: I recommended Lee's to friends visiting from out of town because we had eaten there previously, and everything was good. When we met our friends there on a Monday night, we expected no less than the good food we'd previously enjoyed. I ordered the broiled platter (which I had ordered before) and the scallops were rubbery and brown. Even worse, the crab cakes were spoiled. I managed to eat the scallops, but the crab cakes were sickening. I did not ask for other food to replace the crab cakes, but I told the waitress so they would be alerted to serving spoiled food. She argued with me that these were made daily and could not possibly be bad. She said they had been serving them all evening, insisting that I was wrong! I did not ask for a price adjustment for the bad food (although I should have) and she did not offer. She merely continued to argue with me about these crab cakes made with spoiled crab! I won't go back, but even worse, I hate that I recommended this place to out-of-towners.

Review: I don't see how this business has stayed in business as long as it has. The food is mediocre, at best, and very overpriced. You can go back down the road to Drunken Jack's and get a wonderful meal, with a great salad bar and a beautiful view at a lesser price. You can tell by the number of cars at each place what is the best. We tried this restaurant years ago and didn't like it and still don't.

Review: Our group of 12 decided this was the best food we had eaten last week (8/24-29/08). The sauteed shrimp was outstanding! The grilled and fried seafood platters were delicious! (The lobster on one of the platters was a little tough.) The she crab soup was tasty and even the steak was delicious. It was not crowded, so noise was low. The waitress was nice enough to take several pictures of us! All in all, fantastic food and service!

Review: My husband and I ate at Lee's for the first time this year on our vacation to Surfside Beach. We both fell in love with the place. The seafood here is to die for. Light, not greasy, very fresh. The hushpuppies were the best we had ever eaten. Our salads were also fresh and the coleslaw was great. We also liked the fresh tea and wonderful coffee. We ate there twice in on week and could have eaten there again. We told our family members about Lee's and they now agree with us. Why bother to go anywhere else when vacation in the area.

Everyone who works there wants to make sure that you enjoy your dining experience. This is a family owned/operated restaurant and has been handed down through the generations. They have the absolute best She Crab Soup. Don't miss a chance to experience Lee's.

The hush puppies are excellent, the food was wonderful, and the service and value of the meal can't be beat. Thank you Lee's for making our dining experience enjoyable and affordable. They even let you share a meal without adding an extra $5 fee, like some restaurants in Murrell's Inlet are doing. We'll definitely be back next time.

Review: On advice from a friend Lee's was recommended to us and we were highly disappointed. Our salad was not exciting and almost all iceberg lettuce- plate was too small. Our soft shell crabs were breaded so much and fried so hard we couldn't taste them. Bake potato was good and service was excellent-- food was poor and cost was higher than some of the better restaurants that we patronize.

Review: Amazing experience everytime. Huge portions, just the right amount of salad (and let's be honest, no one's going there for the salad- it's all about the fried seafood!) and those hushpuppies- TO DIE FOR! The she crab soup is so good I take a few cold pints back home to Ohio in a cooler. Those dissatisfied reviews above must be some mighty hard people to please, because we have never, ever been anything but delighted with out trip to Lee's! I recommend Lee's to everyone I meet! Little side note: get there EARLY in the summer, (as in 5pm, when they open the door) because it is PACKED, and for good reason

Review: We ate on a Friday night after going to several restaurants in South Myrtle Beach. This was one of my favorites. I had the fried seafood platter: scallops, shrimp, oysters, and flounder.Excellent breading, very light. Diane had Lobster appetizer , a four oz portion with salad, Dessert was Key lime pie, a homemade dessert there. Very light. I will be back!
This resturant is compared to Franks in Pawleys, The Island Deli and restaurant in Pauleys, Flo's in Murrells Inlet, and Sara J's in Garden City. By far the best value.

Review: I have been going to Lee's Inlet Kitchen since I was a child in the 60's. We went for our 21st wedding anniversery expecting a special meal and were extremely dissapointed.
We were out of tea the whole time with our drinks sitting empty on the side of the table while all other waitresses and bus boys walked past and looked but kept going. The food was below average and the price above. This was our last trip to Lee's Inlet Kitchen.

Review: I am 37 years old and have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was 7. Lee's Inlet Kitchen has always been our "favorite" place to dine. We never leave town without eating at Lee's every year. I now take my husband & kids, who just love Lee's as much as I always have. The Hushpuppies are to "die for", honestly!! The seafood is the best on the beach. The atmosphere is very elegant and relaxing. Don't pass this experience up the next time you are in Myrtle Beach.

Review: We went to Lee's for the first time and were very disappointed. Our waitress told us that we could only have two drink refills without an additional cost. We thought this was strange considering the prices. My sister and I were very disappointed with our crab cakes. No lump crab. My niece had scallops that tasted funny. When we complained they charged us half price. A little expensive for french fries. The green beans were canned. My nephew (who eats everything) did not like his deviled crabs. The fan tailed shrimp were small. All in all a disappointment.

Review: Growing up as a child in Georgetown SC our family's favorite place to "eat out" was the Inlet Kitchen: the hush puppies are famous, their seafood fresh from the shrimp boats, and the informal atmosphere make a good day at the beach -- the best! This was 45 years ago, and today's restaurant is almost the "same": it was rustic 45 years ago, now there is airconditioning and good decorations... The food is the best, and we still long for our return visits to Pawley's Island, Myrtle Beach and the Inlet Kitchen.

Review: We've been going to Lee's Inlet for twelve years and we have never been disappointed! The quality of seafood is unsurpassed in the Myrtle Beach area. The hush puppies are the best of any restaurant and typically are hot; their salads are fresh and their seafood, especially their shrimp, fresh and succulent. As a treat at the end of your meal, try their Kona Coffee; it is freshly made and we have never had a bad cup. You can’t beat the locally owned seafood restaurants.

Review: This place was and still is the best seafood restaurant in Murrells Inlet and the Myrtle Beach area. We moved vacation locations from Cherry Grove to Garden City just so we could be closer to this wonderful restaurant. The she crab soup is the best I have tasted, and believe me, I've tried many places! Their hush puppies and honey butter are perfect. Their shrimp is succulant and the flounder delicious. Their Kona coffee is freshly made and is a wonderful way to top off a wonderful dining experience. Very family oriented and they have a wonderful aquarium that entertains the kids. Try this place, you won't be dissapointed.

Review: This is our favorite restaurant on the planet. Always our first and last dinner each time we visit Myrtle Beach. Its a little pricey for what you get, but we are willing to pay for excellence. The fried shrimp is the best we've ever had anywhere, including Southwest Florida. After many years of coming to Lee's, there was only 1 time when the service was less than excellent. We tried one of those "trendy" restuarants on the water in Murrell's Inlet, and it was good, but not in the same league as Lee's.

Review: I have to agree with the 04-25-2006 post.
The meat had a distinct liver taste to it. Their quality has certainly diminished since I started visiting them 10 yrs ago.

Review: Lee's Inlet was an accidental find of ours and we were so impressed with the quality of the food. It was simply delicious...so delicious that we can't wait to return. The she-crab soup -- to die for!

Review: My family and I have been coming to Myrtle Beach area for over 25 years and Lee's Inlet Kitchen is always one of the highlights of our trip. We have NEVER gotten a bad meal at this restaurant, The hushpuppies are WONDERFUL and I doubt you can find better seafood anywhere. I love the quaintness of Murrell's Inlet and the long time family owned restaurants are far better than any of the chain restaurants. We are looking forward to eating there again in July. We are counting the days!!!!!!!!

Review: As residents of Myrtle Beach we often go to and recommend Lee's Inlet Kitchen. Our recent visit left us quite disappointed. It seems that they have joined the trend of reducing portiion sizes without reducing the prices. The salad was mediocre as was the rest of the dinner. We haven't decided if and when we will go back.

Review: We were referred by a local citizen while touring the nearby Brookgreen Gardens. AWESOME!!!!!!!! Fantastic food, better service and even if all you came for were the hushpuppies, you'd leave happy. We arrived early just as they were opening for dinner so we had no waiting. But it was filling up fast when we left 45 minutes later. Can't wait to go back to Myrtle Beach just to go to dinner there. Had the crabcakes, they were wonderful. Worth every penny and if I never eat at another "calabash" type restaraunt , it would be too soon. Lee's Inlet is the real deal.

Review: This is our favorite seafood restaurant on the East Coast. She Crab soup is delightful. Inlet Creek Shrimp is like no other. Stuffed Grouper is the best. We have been eating at Lee's for fifteen years and they are the real deal!! All our family loves them and we bring our soccer team when we are in town. Rock on!!!

Review: Our family has been going to Lee's since the 60's. We went this summer and it was a real disappointment. The quality of the food is not what it used to be. Fried shrimp at Lee's used to be heavenly, now it is merely ordinary. I ate better fried shrimp at 3 other restaurants while I was in Myrtle Beach.

Review: My husband's family has been going to Lee's Inlet Kitchen for 40+ years and have never been disappointed in it.
This is absolutely the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach/Murrells Inlet...there's just no comparison. We've never had anything but superb service and food.
We're going to be in Myrtle Beach in 2 weeks and I can't wait to get to Lee's Inlet Kitchen!!
My parents are going with us this year and we can't wait to introduce them to Lee's Inlet.

Review: My wife and I are from Canada and head straight for Lee's upon arrival. The fried shrimp is excellent and their broiled grouper is absolutely magnificent. The red clam chowder makes my mouth water, a bit spicy, but wow what taste ! We have been frequenting Lee's for a number of years and rate the food as among the best in the Myrtle Beach area. We are introducing another family member to Lee's in the next month and I can't wait !!

Review: Upon the recommendation of my father-in-law we stopped at Lee's Inlet Kitchen at the end of a week of eating overpriced, unimpressive meals at various high-end restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area. All I can say is I can't wait to get back in August 2005. I had the seafood platter...it left me speechless. I had never seen so much seafood on one plate in my life. I skipped finishing the salad, saved the baked potato to take back to the condo, and started in on the lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, deviled crab, oysters, and clam chowder. (And I didn't even touch the huge piece of lounder - which with the potato, some shrimp and a couple of scallops went home to be lunch the next day.) My father-in-law witnessed me unable to finish a meal for the first time. We even took home eight pieces of their key lime pie as a delicious substitute for my wife's birthday cake. The staff was attentive and so nice, making the atmosphere perfect for enjoying a long (and large) dinner with the family. It makes me hungry just thinking about it! GO, GO, GO! You'll be glad you did.

Review: This is our favorite restaurant in Murrell's Inlet. The quality of the food is outstanding! We usually like to arrive by 5:30ish so we won't have to wait too long for a table. Most of the time we walk on in. By the time we leave there are lots of people waiting so remember to go early. The price is kind of high but we are willing to pay it for our favorite meal of the week. We highly recommend this restaurant.
