Was there last year and look forward to coming back again the end of July. My son and I went there to watch the NASCAR race on a Sunday and I didn’t want to leave but the wife and younger son wanted some beach family time on our second day of vacation. We left there with some new NASCAR friends.
They have a band everyday. This is a FUN beach bar for the common person. Can’t wait to get there on the 26th of July for the race.

Personally, I love Harold's. It's a lot of fun and there's plenty of disgustingly delicious food. The cheeseburger was wonderufl, the beer was top-notch AMERICAN beer.

If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, this aint your place. Ive been coming here for a long time and have to make a daily visit while in NMB. Best damned cheeseburger ive ever had, friendly, attentive staff that tries to make you feel at home. Most of the bad reviews that I have read were from those above the Mason-Dixon line. Guess they just dont understand how we do things down here. I would suggest a cookie cutter on restaraunt row

First off, this place is what it is, a beach BAR. So all of you yuppie fathers and soccer moms must realize is it is a bar. people go to a bar to get drunk and party, remember you are at the beach. Oh and quit complaining about sitting down and not being served. There is a sign that says order food here. ref: 14382 |

Have been coming to Myrtle and Hoto's for many years now and I can only say everytime we all enjoy both. There is plenty of room in the dining area, and at the bar, the staff is upbeat and helpful, and the deck is a great place to relax and enjoy the live music. It it a place that has a local flavor, normal bar noise and music, not a place to go and eat dinner with a large family, or in a suit and tie. We all love it and will spend many nights there each year!!!! ref: 13082 |

Hi. I'm Tex and a long distance trucker. I've got a cottage at NMB but stay on the road most of the time. Whenever I get to NMB I hit Hoto's.. Harold, Josh, Big Bob--my kind of people. Always have a blast and been going there for the last 10 years. Food is great. Laid back atmosphere and the staff can't be beat. I'm originally from Texas and wear my hat, buckle, and boots and, needless to say I get a lot of stares, but never meet a stranger there. A great place to have a good time, have a Bud, and shoot a little pool.

People. This is a bar that serves food because SC makes them do it to serve alcohol.
That said get a seat at the bar, some jalapeno poppers, a chili dawg and a couple of cold beers. Doesn't get much better. ref: 12382 |

I could only review the atmosphere, because we high-tailed it outta there in a hurry!
Our family of 5, two adults and 3 teenagers, walked in it was like a scene in a badass movie. The entire place turned around and stared at us. If the music stopped playing it would've been a perfect scene!
It really puts a bad tone to Cherry Grove, an otherwise classy place. The town should do something about this. After this experience, I wouldn't let the kids walk past it to Boulineaus. ref: 11817 |

I had finished eating around 2PM and went to wash my hands. There was a line for the restrooms and a sign that read Ladies only on the Mens restroom. There were 2 other guys waiting in line and a guy wearing a staff T-shirt walked from behind the bar and told the 3 of us that there were port-a-potties for the men and those restrooms were off limits for guys. I said I just wanted to wash my hands and his reply was "Use the ocean. If I catch you going in the restroom to wash your hands you will be thrown out." I am in the process of contacting the Health Department in SC for the dirty conditions (Which includes cats walking across the tables)and for not having the proper facilities for washing hands in a business that prepares and serves food. Whether it was a one day thing or not. ref: 11543 |

We love this place and eat and party there at least twice a week when we're in NMB area. The burgers are great, the beer is cold and you can't beat that ocean view! As for it being a little redneck, if it will keep all you pretentious yuppies from Charlotte and Raleigh out that suits the heck out of me! For families, the atmosphere on the deck is perfectly suitable during the day but at night it is more of an grown up hangout....might I suggest Chuckee Cheese?? ref: 9778 |

I've been visiting HOTO's for about 4 years now. I am very disturbed by the dork from Kernersville, NC and the idiotic review he/she left here on this website. When you went back and ordered two more beers and another soft drink it was $2 cheaper because you got a free refill on the drink dumbass! As for the food quality: did anything about the building's appearance make you think they claimed to be French Fine Dining? You are exactly the kind of person nobody wants in their vicinity so please don't got back there because I certainly will. ref: 8553 |

Restaurant was very crowded when we entered, finally made our way out to the patio and found a seat. Sat there for 10-15 minutes and was never approached by a waitress or bartender, so we went to the bar to order drinks and lunch. When the food came out an hour later, cheese sticks were cold and the steamed shrimp was over cooked (imagine trying to chew a good sized pencil eraser dipped in cocktail sauce). Went to the bar to get 2 beers and a coke refill and it was 8 dollars, went back later and ordered the same thing with a different bartender and it was 2 dollars less. Not enough waitresses or support staff plus one female bartender was very rude to a couple of our guests. Entertainer was good, location was great but management is obviously lacking. ref: 8102 |

Hoto's is the greatest bar in Myrtle Meach! All of my gang has been going there for almost 20 years straight. Hoto's is our first visit when we come on vacation (every year) and we pretty much stay there all week. Back in 2005 my now husband proposed to me on the back deck. It was great! the first song on the jukebox we play every year is one by david allen coe. The food is great, the atmosphere is one of a kind, the bartenders are great. Hoto's is our favorite place anywhere, ever!. ref: 6430 |

This is place is awesome! If you are looking for a small town hang out, this is it. But best of all, it is right on the ocean. They have some of the best shrimp I have ever eaten. It is not a fancy resturant, but a locals hang out and bach bar, and if it is good enough for the locals.....!! I miss these from when I lived in Florida. It's small so you have to come early and get a seat, because it is always packed when a good band is there. They have great entertainment on Sunday afternoons. We ALWAYS go when THE CRAIG WOOLARD BAND is playing. They are there the 2nd Sunday of every month during the season. Best band ever!! You always have a great time at HOTO's (as the locals call it) and The CWB!!
I Love Beach Music, The CWB, and Hotos!!!

This place is a disgusting redneck bar. It is full of trash looking for trouble. The place is so dirty I can't imagine eating there. The "service" appears to be a bunch of local rednecks who bring in all of their friends to get drunk while they work. It is a real shame, great location. ref: 6064 |

We visited Harolds during bike week. After reading the previous good reviews we were disapointed with this place. We walked through the dimmly lit bar area and headed out to the patio. It was a beautifull day so we wanted to enjoy it. The bartender at the outside bar was quick to get us a couple of beers and take our food order. Everything behind the bar was dirty and there was a strong smell of vomit in the area. Bad start! We sat at a table and waited for our food order. It was not busy here but it took 45 minutes to get our food. There was a group of locals outside that looked like they were from a local methadone clinic. Not the nice beach atmosphere we read about in previous reviews. The food was the standard greasy stuff served in a basket. We ate and left quickly and probably won't be back. ref: 5932 |

We came in on sat. Afternoon april 28 during sos. We had a ball !. The customers requested that the band be allowed to perform an extra hour and the management and staff accomodated this. They also allowed an extra half hour beyond this. It's refreshing to find a place that is willing to acede to their customers wishes. The food is awsome and reasonably priced. Because of the atmosphere created on sat., we returned on sun. The band was a family called Boys and the Babe. If anything, they were better than the one before. We will make hotos a must when we return to mb and we come often. Nowayray. ref: 5674 |

This is NOT and I repeat NOT a family place. We went last week at 12 noon coming in off the beach and the place was full of loose cannons and power drinkers. I don't know what type of environment people think is "family" but this place is NOT one of them. We were seated 20 minutes and never got waited on, never even got a second glance, we got up and left and no one even blinked at our leaving. Not a very nice atmosphere at all. Sorry HOTOs but I really did want this to work, as you are adjacent to where we beach but NEVER again, very rough atmosphere. ref: 2966 |

We visited HOTO's last week because of the reviews on this site. We are a family w/2 kids under 10 and there were other families present with their kids so it's not just an adult bar. Nice tables and chairs on the ocean front deck. Dress is casual (some come right off the beach). We had Burgers (I swear were 1 inch thick) fries, onion rings -that were the best I ever tasted- and a couple of cold brews. We loved it so much we had to go back the next night!!!!
