Haven't been to the beach in a couple of years. Excited to return this summer! Joe's is where we eat the first night we are there. We have a 10-12 hour drive and we can't wait to get a slaw burger and onion rings. Makes the drive so worth it.

My family loves Hamburger Joes. It's the first stop we make. The gold wings are the best, infact everything on the menu is excellant. This is one of our highlights when we go to Myrtle Beach. We are going next month and we will visit Joe's most likely two times. You have got to try it. Anyone that writes bad about Joe's most likely writes bad about everything.

So I googled a good place to eat while I was here in myrtle beach. And I seen all the great reviews for hamburger Joes. So we drove almost 25 min to get there to find they only take cash, no prob they have an ATM. We ordered cheese sticks , they were aswsome. Hamburgers, fries, and onion rings. The hamburger buns were so cold, the burger just warm. The onion rings were old and freezing which we sent back and got warm ones. The waitress seemed like she didn't want us there at all. I had to flag her down to get new onion rings. Hated it , and never will go back ever again!!!

We are locals and there is not a better place in the Grand Strand area to get a burger or wings or onion rings. And a $1 beer, no where else, so anyone who does not like it carry your ass back up north. Don't ever change a thing Joe it is GREAT as is.

This place was excellente from the day they 1st opened at their original bldg in the early '90's. And...i just visited again since 18 years--found everything the same...excellent! (and I wanted to faint at how the prices were fair as 1991's!) we were tickled pink! joe, you still have great selections, prices, & staff ! keep up the great restaurants you have!.

Our family loves this place, great food, (burger wise), fun place to kick your feet up and enjoy your self. Prices are very reasonable, o.k. service, great atmosphere. Put your flip flops on, slip a t-shirt on, ( or buy one of theirs), cut offs, and your set...; keep up the great work.....

Don't understand some of these people who claim that Joe's has average food. My wife and I talk about getting back to the beach all the time, so we can get to eat the gold wings!! We talk about it while we are eating at our favorite restaurants here at home!! I would even say that the bbq is as good as any I've had anywhere else!! We will be renting a condo for the whole month of October. Will be at Joe's, minimum, once a week!! So don't pay attention to any negative reviews. If you're not in the mood for good wings, burgers, hot dogs, and bbq, then go somewhere else! Someone who loves it would like a seat!!

My Family just visited Hamburger Joe's for the first time and really loved it. As someone who loves a good burger and eats a lot of Ruth Christ's burgers, you need to realize they are not this type, but what I would call a beach burger. It is something I would want to eat after a day at the beach. By no means is it gourmet, but excellent for the class it is in. There is a quick turnover which is good for all the people waiting outside, service was smooth and quick but not rushed. The onion rings were really good and the wings were fantastic. All in all just some good old grub at the beach and definitely not your typical chain burger and fries. Would highly recommend.

Not sure why you would specify hamburger in the restaurant name when I could broil a frozen soy burger in the oven with no seasoning and get the same results. TERRIBLE!!!! Waitress---hateful; food---NASTY!! Save your $$$ and go to McDonalds!! Two cheeseburgers one order of cold soggy french fries and two small Dixie cups of Diet Pepsi cost close to $15. Could have ate at Mickey D's for $7.00. You do the math!!

Ate at Hamburger Joe's last week. After reading mostly good reviews, have to say I was disappointed. My visit started off wrong to learn they did not accept debit cards. Then we were seated at a table in the back where the AC was dripping on our table. The hamburger was small and very basic. I guessed a restaurant specializing in hamburgers would have a bigger variety of toppings, cheeses, etc. The owner of this place should make a trip to Big Daddy's Burger bar in Charlotte. Tons of choices to make your own burger, and they accept debit cards!

We ate there July 6th, wings were good, hamburgers were poor, the ones at Sonic are much better. The price was very high, over $38.00 for 4 of us. Myrtle Beach should get a Fatty Patty's Resturant, now that is a great hamburger.

My family of five (three kids ages 3, 4 and 7) visited Hamburger Joe's while in Myrtle Beach. We had heard it was really good food. Well, we weren't impressed. It was not any better than I could get at any average roadside ice cream place back home. The wait to get a table was about 40 minutes. Once we were seated and ordered, the waitress brought mine and my husband's food, but not the children's. She said it would be there in a minute. 10 minutes later the kids still didn't have their food. We didn't want to eat in front of them, so ours sat and got cold while we waited. I finally flagged down the waitress and asked her about it and she said they were really backed up, but people at the next table seated after us were already served their wings. My kids had chicken fingers and fries. I don't know why that would take so long. For the five of us and our babysitter, it was over $50. We had burgers and fries and the kids had chicken and fries. We all had sweet tea. I thought it was a little pricey for the food.

Hamburger Joe's is a great place to dine at! Their hamburgers are great so are there hot wings! They also have this amazing sauce called golden sauce for the wings!!! I thought that the service was excellent, they were kind, and gave great preferences on what to get. You deffinatly get your moneys worth!!! On nights that HJ's is crowded you've got to wait about 15 min. which isn't too bad.

We tried hamburger joes last year by accident when we saw that one of our favorite resturaunts had been shut down and absolutely loved it! The food was excellent and the waitress even gave one of the smaller boys extra fries no charge when he ran out! We all enjoyed drawing on dollar bills after our meal and taping them to the wall when we found the perfect spot. Joe came around while we were eating and said hello to everyone and shook our hands. He was one of the sweetest people I've ever met and tried his best to make us feel like part of the HJ's family! This is one girl who will definitely be going bac to Hamburger Joes every summer I visit Myrtle Beach!!!

We have been to Joe's many many times and have found it to be a great place to get a burger. Too many processed patties are served these days, but not at Joe's. The owner has been in the restaurant business many many years and knows what his customers want. We enjoy the dining experience and the food. is wonderful. GIves a new meaning to the hamburger joint where a sloppy burger is all you go for.

Hamburger Joe's Rocks! We visit every time we're in town. If you want fancy....go somewhere else. If you want a great time and atmosphere with friendly locals park yourself at the bar at Hamburger Joe's and you'll get the best service you can get. From the bar vantage you can watch the prep and cooking process, which is impressive. We are talking volume here and it is quite a show to watch. You also get the bonus of interacting with all the waitstaff. A great burger, great price, and great local company. If you're looking for the hugh oversized burger that is overpriced you better stick to the national chains. Trust me, it won't be as much fun.

Up till last time we had always enjoyed eating here but the last time, older lady and man came in with a pug on a leash. The dog had a collar that said it was okay and I love animals but neither the man or woman was blind or had any disabilities that were apparent. you could tell they had been there before as they went straight to a back room while they took turns going to restroom. It was probably legal and aboveboard but my food didn't taste quite as good after that brcause i wondered if they fed dog off plates. I promise nothing against pet just not in a restaurant.

The best ever hamburger place to eat.!!! We go there every year when we go the the South Carolina State Square and Round Dance Convention in January, every year. We will be going there again the end of January 2011!! The waitress's treat you like one big family, trying to provide the meals the way you want and ask if you need anything several times. Just a all around fun place to go! Sign a dollar bill and hang it on the wall.

Have been coming to the beach for many years and decided to try this restaurant on the lastt rip because we stay near the restaurant plus we saw an enticing commercial about the restaurant. Overall, the commercial is misleading, the food and service is just ok, and the prices were way to high for the tiny portions you get. Probably won't go back again based on our 1st experience! The only good part is the atmosphere and the ducks..for the kids!

Been going to Joe's for over 10 years. I usually eat there at least 10 times each year and have never had bad service or bad food. The burgers are not the $8.95 gourmet variety but the simple $3.50 variety. The chili they use on their burgers and hot dogs is awesome. I always think that the burger is small when it arrives but I usually feel stuffed after finishing a burger and an order of fries. (Just for the record, I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 220) The wings are good and a good deal with 10 wings for about $6. Where else can you get a draft beer for $1? With over 4 million sold, someone must like Joe's burgers!!! I visit Joe's every time I go to Myrtle Beach because the food is good and very inexpensive.

Hamburger Joe's is almost always our first stop when we arrive in MB and sometimes the last one before we leave! Great burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, chicken wings and the list goes on. I have been many, many times and I have never been served a frozen hamburger - it's always fresh and straight from the grill. And the chili makes the burger or hot dog that much better! Judging from the packed parking lot, there are a lot of others who think it is a pretty great place to eat. Don't change a thing!!!

We would not recommend Hamburger Joes. From the outside it looked like a cool restaurant. The burgers were small, thin and greasy and served on a small paper plate. The fries were served in a little cardboard boat like you get at the fair. Puny serving sizing and very unappealing presentation. My stepson ordered hot wings and said they were not spicy at all. The waitress obviously hated her job and was po'd that she had to wait on us. You only get one refill on pop and they take your cup and refill it when you have only drank about half, and that's your refill. When we went to the cashier the man sitting at the desk was talking on the phone and would not interrupt his phone call to take our payment. We only had a few cents in change coming so we just put the money down and walked out. It cost about $30 for two burgers, two fries. 3 drinks and an order of wings. Might as well save the difference and go to McDonald's instead. The fries are better there anyway.

Have been going to Joes when they were in the old building, I guess 10 or 15 years. In the last two years they have really went down hill. I was used to seeing the same persons working year after year. Something happen with Joe getting a divorce and I think his ex is running the place for the last 2-3 years. Example: Today we go in after a round of golf, sit at bar. Wait to be acknowledged. We order: wings, 2 beers, two burgers and fries. Bartender disappears, no drinks. Kid cooking fries hands me an order of fries, says here while they are hot, and goes back to his fryer. Here we are sitting at bar with an order of fries/no beers. Some women for cash register (maybe Joe's ex) came over and asked if we were waited on. I said yes, but take these fries back and give me two beers, and find the bartender. She did. Soon after wings, burgers, fries all come same time. The burger cook is killing the burgers, He puts on grill, flattens them and put on hot side of grill, cooks about 5 minutes presses all the juice out of them, cooks another 5 minutes, presses again to make sure all the juice is out, burning the edges and making a dry over cooked burger. Here is how it used to work: Sit at bar bartender comes right over and gives you beers. Order wings, burgers and fries. When wings come out, he puts in order for burger and fries. Burgers are cooked to perfection and not pressed of all there juices and burnt on edges. I come to Myrtle Beach for 2 weeks every year. And would eat lunch or dinner at Joe's at least 7 or 8 times. I would tell anyone I played golf with about Joe's. Anyone I talked to about food, I put in a good word for Joe's. Well no more; I will not be back, this is the second year a seen a decline in service and food, There are two many other places to go like Oscars (get burger or Oscar special), or Jersey Mikes (get cold cut sub) for good food and service, when you are in the mood for something other than a full dinner.

From the outside this looked like a cool restaurant to visit. The food was disappointing. We ordered burgers and fries. The presentation of the food was unappealing and the portions were skimpy looking. The burgers were served on little stryofoam plates and the fries were in little cardboard boats. We also got wings and they were not spicy and were greasy. Apparently you get only 1 refill for free and they come refill your beverage before you have even drank half of it. The waitress was not particularly friendly either. When we went to the cashier to pay, the man sitting at the desk did not even look up from his phone call. My husband just laid the money down and walked out. Save your money and go to McDonald's or Burger King. Definitely not worth it!!!

This was quite an experience, and not a good one at that! I ordered a salad and I was served the shredded lettuce that is served on the burgers, topped with two cucumbers and some chopped tomato. The salad dressing was good, but not good enough to make up for the pathetic salad underneath. You may be saying well this is a burger join, so why order a salad? Well my boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger and this is what he had to say. "Small and nothing special at all. Felt like what I ate at the cafeteria in elementary school. Every heard of a grill???!?!!!!" I think you get the picture here. Spare the experience and go to Burger King.

I don't get why people rated this a great hamburger place. I thought the burgers were just ok - nothing special and I've had much better burgers in other establishments in Myrtle Beach. Also the wings were again just OK yet this is another item that's supposed to be what they are known for. The only good thing I can say is that the price for our meal was cheap. I just expected more since Burgers is the main event on the menu.

I have read the reviews for Hamburger Joe's. It seems that it has many mixed experiences and some don't really understand the concept of Hamburger Joe's. Hamburger Joe's is an excellent restaurant with a great atmosphere. Hamburger Joe's food is excellent as well as the wait staff. I had the pleasure of meeting Joe and he was as down to earth as anyone I had ever met. He talked to us as though he had known us his whole life. Joe, no matter what the reviews say and to compare your burgers to Five Guys and the others is a disgrace. You have fantastic hamburgers as well as the other food on your menu. I have never had a bad experience and feel comfortable that I will not. My family spends the summers in Myrtle Beach and come to your restaurant many times during their stay. The food quality and the prices are the best on the strand and the atmosphere is just like sitting at home. It's a sit back relax, no one will push you out the door to seat someone else just to make another dollar. This is what you get when you go to one of the chain restaurants or others in Myrtle Beach. Keep up the good work and we will continue to see you every visit at the beach.

My wife and I ate here for the first time in 2009 based on word-of-mouth from a friend. I happened across this ratings board while scoping out prospective restaurants for our pending visit. Based on the reviews and the aforementioned comments from a friend who makes this a go-to every year I plan on making a point of trying Hamburger Joe's again. Our initial visit was average, but I can tell we must have caught them at a semi-off moment. We both ordered burgers and fries and either it was just not the best timing or we are incredibly spoiled by having access to really good burgers in our fairly small, rural community. I am intrigued enough by the good reviews to give it another shot. The day we visited for lunch the service and atmosphere were fine, no complaints at all, but the food was honestly a little bland. Not a bad experience at all but I have a feeling there is a much better review in my near future!

We love to visit Hamburger Joe's when we are in Myrtle Beach. The food is always great and is our first place to go. However, this last visit left us concerned. A couple came into the non smoking section with a dog. Even if it were a service dog, there should be another area to take the dog or the dog should not have been allowed in the dining room--maybe they could have used the open air porch. The dog was not used for sight and since there was a couple, the benefits of the animal were not needed. It was totally inconsiderate to the other patrons of the restaurant.

We were so impressed after hearing raves and raves of positive visits to Hamburger Joe's that we had brunch with Joe and Staff on our way back to NC Feb. 28, 2010. Never have we been so welcomed and treated like guests at Hamburger Joe's in NMB. The atmosphere was so simple and relaxed. The Staff was so friendly and professional. Joe, himself, made sure he spoke to each individual person and gave them quality fair time to enjoy conversation and get a hug or hand shake. One thing that impressed us as much as anything was "the dollar bills hanging EVERYWHERE" ... not pennies at the register but American One Dollar Bills ... I quote Joe, "if you need one, take it, if you have an extra, leave it" ... now, where else do you hear that? The food was the most delicious old fashioned hamburger ~ nothing can touch it. To those who have visited will agree with all the above...to those who haven't visited ... come find out for yourself. Joe loves kids and makes them welcome. They want to come back ~ and will, as long as the doors are open ~ THANKS, Joe.

My husband and I LOVE to eat at HAMBURGER JOE'S!!!!! It is the best around!! We are locals here at the beach and we try to go here as much as possible!! The food is GREAT and so is the SERVICE!!! The one thing that really made us appreciate this place the most is that my husband and I always have cash on us to pay the bill and never even noticed that they do not except credit cards, so one day my husband and I were on our bike and we stopped by and had lunch here and all we had on us was a credit card and when we went to pay the cashier told us that they did not take credit cards so Joe came over to us and asked what was wrong and we told him we had no cash on us and that we could go home and bring it right back and with a smile on his face he said don't worry about it go ahead with your plans for today and just bring the money back sometime tomorrow!!! I will have to say that was very very NICE of him!!!! We will NEVER eat hamburgers ANY WHERE ELSE BUT HAMBURGER JOE'S!! Thank you for your APPRECIATION of your customers!!

Queens N........"You won't be disappointed"? Some people might in fact be disappointed. After all, reviews are made so everyone is able to post their opinions/critiques. If you like it, post a positive objective review, but don't disregard/disrepect someone elses objective (not subjective) review that did in fact have a poor experience on some aspects. If you note, noone has posted full "poor" scores. I would hope the management would appreciate knowing areas they can improve upon since customer service is what allows businesses to prosper, especially in this economy.

We eat several times at HJ's on our 4-5 trips to the beach per year. ALWAYS our first stop. This is a great little hamburger/wings/ff place. Good food, not fancey, and not expensive. Joe is most always there and keeps a sharp eye on what is going on. Regarding the comment that he "supposedly" told someone she was an ass and not to come back........I find that very hard to believe BUT if he said it then she must have been. I have never seen him be anything but cordial to people. There is a right and WRONG way to handle any situation. I do not feel the customer is always right!

We got into town last night at 8:30 and saw that Joe's had extended their hours to 10:00 as stated on their sign and door. We decided we had time to go unload our things and come back. When we arrived at 9:00, they had the doors locked and were cleaning up inside. We were very disappointed at the poor business practice. Obviously customers do not come first and their sign should say open "until we feel like it".

I live here. All summer this restaurant was packed with people waiting for seating. Finally in Oct. it was not crowded, so we ate there. Big woop...big disappointment. I expected a menu with 10 hamburger choices, like Bacon Cheese Burger, Chili Cheeseburger, Mushroom Bacon Swiss, Peanutbutter Burger. They had Hamburger and Cheeseburger. That's it. Oh! you can add....tomatoes, lettuce and onions. Wow! Are all those people that waited an hour for a table all summer complete idiots?!? I ordered a Cheeseburger. The patty was 1/16" thick!!! It was like having a Wendy's kid meal hamburger. Good grief!! What a disappointment. I left hungry. There were golfers sitting at the table next to us. They ate their hamburgers, then order seconds because they were still hungry. From the reviews, I was thinking after a few beers this place might be as great as all of the reviews. Evidently I was wrong. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The signs out front says they are celebrating 20 years in business. How they managed to stay in business 20 weeks is beyond me.

My boyfriend is a hamburger conesuier and he said this was one of the best burgers hes ever had. I got mozzerella sticks and a salad, the salad was nothing special, but what do you expect, this place was a strait up burger joint, not for veggie-tarians like me. Mozzerella sticks were delish, highly recomend them

We have been going to hamburger Joe"s for nearly two years. the service has always been good and the food good. we have always tipped very well at least 20%. Today ( 09 21 2009 ) we where their, the waitress took our order four hotdogs mustard chili and slaw. The order was brought to the table, my wife notice there was no slaw on the hotdogs. The waitress said she probably didn"t check the slaw box very on the order tab very hard and the cook didn't see it. Even if the order arrived incorrectly it was no big deal, all she had to do was to take the order back and correct it. she wanted to bring us slaw instead of taking it back. we preferred her to take the order back. I always thought the customer was always right, but our waitress coped an attitude, took the order back and threw it away. I asked aother waitrees that was now serving me that could I see the manager (Joe ). Joe (the manager/owner ) brought the order to the table and never asked me or my wife what had happened, or what can I do to correct the problem. the only thing he said was to my wife. Quote," you are an ass and don't come here any more." I am 65 years and my wife have been married 41 years and never have we been ever treated this way, even when we were wrong. We will never returned to hamburger Joe"s, and I will make it a point to everyone that I have recommended to go to there. what happened to me and my wife. +-- Today (09 21 2009 ) we went their to eat, the wat

Food was OK and well-priced considering the location. These are the best burgers in North Myrtle Beach? I would hope not. I will return for the beer and wings... not the burgers.

I love the HB Joes in surfside but when we decided to eat at the North Myrtle beach location, we were very disappointed. Surfside location had better food, better service and offered us a better experince all together! SURFSIDE location 100 times BETTER!

After reading below, I am at a losss. My experiences, and the 8 people with me, were outstanding!!!!!! Old style hamburgers with a great old flavor. Fries were very good, Beer was cold and very refreshing. We all loved the atmoshere!!! With all the places to eat at, you would think that you would not repeat a restaurant, WE DID!!!! Great both times. Service was never lacking and the elderly Gentleman that we spoke with made the atmospere compleat. We would recommend to anyone and when we come to the beach, we will be back at Hamburger Joe's!!

As a local, I have eaten at just about every "hamburger" joint in MB. We really enjoy HJ's. The thing is though it's a different type of hamburger. If you are looking for a thick, stacked, huge type burger, then Red Robin's is where you should try. When you're not quite as hungry or just want an HJ burger then this is where you should go. I guess you just have to try it to understand. The burgers are very tasty and juicy. It's a local's favorite spot to eat.

Some people just don't know what good food is. I have been eating at H.J.'s since he started. This is the best burgers you will find anywhere. I suggest it to anyone who is going to M.B.

Looking for a good hamburger, don't go here, probably would do better to find one laying along the road. Greasy french fries, warm beer in a plastic cup. Thanks for the experience, I won't be back

This was one place we were told we had to go, but we will not be back. The place has decent atmosphere but the food was average at best (not the best hamburger in MB as we were told) and the tables were dirty.

This is possibly the grossest meal I have had since I last ate in my high school's cafeteria. The hamburgers are boiled in their own grease with no evidence of browning. The "hamburger steak" is served with grilled onions that never saw a grill. The fries are made from frozen french fries which I can prepare better in my oven at home. What a disappointment for our last meal at Myrtle Beach.

This is our first time to the Myrtle Beach area, and we noticed Joe's on the way to our condo. Decided to stop by on another day because they looked a little bit packed. GREAT FOOD!!!! We had the sweetest waitress with a great southern hospitality attitude. The prices were decent. We walked in and were seated almost immediately. great laid back atmosphere. apparently almost 7grand on the walls in dollar bills (we had to ask!). Definitely would go back again! Actually we did today for lunch. We had been out to eat almost every day since we got here and this was the first place with very good food. Very kid friendly as well. Owner even walked around to make sure everyone was ok, refilled drinks, took care of our table, and sat and chatted for a little bit :)

I just got back from eating a Hamburger Joes. The pulled pork sandwiches are awesome. This is a diner style type of establishment with good food at a great price! One dollar draft light beer...you can not go wrong. Great place for a family to eat out at..salads, wings, burgers, pulled pork, fries, onion rings etc.

The burgers are the best i have had in my life.Their breakfast sandwiches are served on their own hamburger rolls and a great in a pinch. On the walls there is memrobilia including old license plates. Its the closest you will get to good old fashoined east coast barbeque. I give Hamburger Joe's a rating of 5. By the way their fries and rings are the bomb. You gotta go give it a shot.Once you go there you will be a returning customer for years to come.
