Review: The food at the Gulfstream was a bit overpriced and the seafood platter was so-so, but without doubt, they serve the most wonderful and delicious she-crab soup that I have ever eaten (from the Chesapeake Bay to Charleston)! The service was very good for the large crowd that we went with.......thank you, Misty. I will definitely return to this restaurant on our next trip to the Surfside/Garden City area.

Review: Upon reading some of the reviews below, I had to comment. I can promise everyone that drinks would never take 45 minutes to arrive at the table, no matter how busy the resturant was. And considering the time with the Encrusted Tuna mishap, I know the manager they are talking about (and probably going a bit overboard when explaining it) doesn't work there anymore. Just remember, just treat the servers with some respect and they'll show you ten times more. The Gulfstream has had it's problems but it comes with the business.

Review: I always sit in the bar area to insure immediate seating. I love the wait staff and food. As vegetarians my family and I always find dishes and salads to enjoy. The kitchen does not seem to mind preparing our choices. We did learn to stay far, far away from the early bird after being attacked by a group of gray haired couples for being seated upon arrival. Also, the smell of stale powder and old cologne was enough to choke us in the lobby area, my son put his shirt over his face. Once you get away to the bar, all is peaceful and delicious.

Review: The food was very good. We went for the seafood. Their were some sophisticated/higher priced seafood items on the menu, however, the seafood platters were moderately priced - about $17 for a combination platter. The scallops were delicious, and the flounder was good. My wife and mother-in-law had the fried oysters, and said that they were very good. I would recommend this to anybody, and will visit again on our next trip to MB. Make reservations on the weekend, or you will probably have to wait 1 hour plus to get seated...very good view of the inlet, especially at sunset.

Review: Like most of the other reviewers, I found poor quality food and substandard service. It took 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The appetizers were tasteless. The "oyster shooters" were missing the splash of vodka that makes them "shooters". Myself and another of our group ordered the crab cakes. They were mushy, watery, oversalted and inedible. What a waste of $23.95. My husband ordered grouper special and it was nothing like the menu item that was quoted by the waitress, and he did not care for it. The food was so poor I sent an email to the Centra Archy group, and they did not even give me the courtesy of a response. There are so many wonderful restaurants in this area, don't waste your time or money here.

Review: 8-16-2007 We heard about this restaurant from several local people and decided to try out the early bird specials.($10.99 for entree, salad, bread and drinks) We have 4 boys ages 19,16,14 and 9). At first glance at the specials they thought that they would go home hungry but after eating our meal (also ordered the onion loaf and extra hush puppies- a must ) they all commented on how good the food was and only one of them could finish their food. When we arrived we were told that there might be a 40 min. wait but we were seated in 15 min. The atmoshere is white linen table clothes, large windows overlooking marina and large wooded beams. The only down fall was that the childrens menu was very limited if your child doesn't like seafood. We ordered salmon, filet mignon, shrimp and scallops and enjoyed every one. I would highly recomend this restaurant.

Review: We love the Gulf Stream. When we are at the beach, we usually go around 5:00 to get the early bird menu and it is great. The food and atmosphere are wonderful--a view of the ocean on one side and the Inlet with the sunset on the other. Dining just doesn't get any better--the White table cloths; pleasant, friendly servers; delicious food; unbelieveable atmosphere. Suggestion: Install ceiling fans inside and on the back deck to help with the excessive heat in late summer. The Gulf Stream--Our Favorite!!!

Review: This has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Garden City Beach and we will typically eat there several times. We just returned from Garden City and have to report that this restaurant has slipped. Of our four meals, two were good and two were very sub-par. My ahi tuna was too rare and when I returned it to the kitchen, the manager came out and indignantly wanted to know why I sent it back. I told her that it was too rare for me. She took it back but wasn't happy about it. When it came back cooked to my order, I tasted it. It was so smothered in peppercorns that you couldn't taste the fish. The garlic mashed potatoes were mushy and not very flavorful. My beans were also so undercooked that you couldn't even bit into them. I love peppercorn encrusted fish but this was not good. My youngest son ordered the shrimp and angelhair pasta. He kept complaining about it so I tasted it. Half of the pasta was crunchy and inedible and the shrimp were overcooked and tough. My other family members enjoyed their meals. My other complaint is that the menu has not been updated. It's basically the same thing every year. I would like to see some creative dishes added to the menu. This is the first time in many years that I would not recommend eating here. It's a shame that the quality has declined. I hoped that they are able to rebound.

Review: I have been visiting the Gulfstream for many years at least once a month. It's a shame, but the food is still fairly good, but the service has been getting worse on each visit. The last visit (7/08/07), service was terrible, food was subpar, and the floor was disgraceful.. Food etc all over. Bus boy made a half hearted attempt, but did hardly nothing. I will not hurry back. I just hope management reads this and attempts to correct the terrible shape the restaurant is in. EJG Surfside Beach

Review: Our favorite restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area! Food is wonderful, service is excellent. Go early and take advantage of the early bird specials, make reservations, or be prepared for a long wait. Best lobster I've ever eaten. Filet is great too. A bit pricey, but well worth the money. Wonderful sunset views over the intracoastal waterway.

Review: Just visited this restaurant. It was very good. Four of dined last night. My husband had the parmesan crusted grouper and he raved about it. I had the medallions of beef and a crab cake. Medallions were excellent, but the crab cakes were just ok. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. Green beans could have been cooked another couple of minutes but flavor was great. Salads were very fresh and the bread was excellent. We did have to wait quite awhile for a seat, but had a drink at the bar and watched the fish in the aquarium upstairs. Would definitely go again, but probably call ahead first.

Review: This is by far the best value on the beach. The filet medallions were excellent, the baked potatoes huge and steamy. I will be back every chance I get.

Review: Gulfsteam is the best place to eat in the grand strand. Yes there is a wait (just like anywhere else in the summer), but thats because all the locals go there and its a busy place, during summer make reservations for around 8pm so you can see the sunset its beautiful and the food is great!

Review: This is our favorite place to eat! I have never had a bad meal. What's more is that no one dining with us has ever had a bad meal , bad service, etc... I would stress making reservations, as with any excellent restaurant {very busy}.

I can recommend the filet medallions & crab cake to anyone, even those with a healthy appetite.

From the time we enter to the time we leave,"THE GULFSTREAM CAFE" is #1 IN OUR BOOK. once again thank you, also don't forget to ask about the sister restaurants in the area.

Review: This has become our favorite restaurant in the area. We drive 35 min from Myrtle Beach to go there so you know we really like it. Have a drink in the bar while looking at the ocean then go downstairs to eat looking at the inlet and boats. Make a reservation, walk ins can wait a while. This is a great place to take friends. Excellent food, service, atmosphere, and price.

Review: our whole family went to the Gulf Stream Cafe on our Sept. 2005 vacation, and we loved it!! It was our second time & plan to go there in Sept. 2006. The garlic grab claws are great. The she crab soup is now my favorite of all seafood soups. our other family members enjoyed southwestern spicy slow roasted duck , fried seafood platter & crab cakes!! Great service and alot of food for the money.

Review: This my family's all-time favorite place to celebrate even the smallest of accomplishments.Any excuse to dine in the bar overlooking the ocean and the marsh.

They have the best Grand Marnier in town! Try to avoid the early bird unless you enjoy being in the company of seniors and this time of year you just about have to go at that time to catch the breath-taking sunset.

Ralph is a great server so request him when possible.

Review: This restaurant had been a favorite of mine, but I had not been here in about 12 years. We made reservations for 7:30, but arrived at 6:30 in hopes that we could be seated earlier as walk-ins. We were told 15 - 25 min, so I told the hostess that she could cancel our reservation and we would take the earlier table. Fifty (50) minutes later they seated us.

In our section there were six (yes, SIX) empty tables. Two empty tables were by windows. When I asked how to get a window table, I was told, "Those are for people with reservations." Tired, amazed at the ineptitude, and having seen other groups with reservations get funneled off to the bar anyway, I decided just to take the table.

Both of our dishes were excellent, but our bill was 40 percent higher than our second-most expensive bill during our week visit.

If you have nowhere else to be that evening, have a high tolerence for inefficiency, and don't mind spending extra money, this is a good place to come. The food and atmosphere are excellent.

Review: A real find. Informal building with a wait staff that looked professional - white shirts, ties and bisto aprons. Looked sharp. Nice view of the inlet. The food was great, prepared perfectly. The best value is the early bird special. Slightly smaller meal at significant savings. Some of the best she crab soup I have ever had anyplace in the world. The salad was nice and fresh and the dressing was perfect in quantity and quality. The fried shrimp and oysters were wonderful. They obviously pay attension the to details right down to the nice warm crusty bread. We were very pleased. Getting ready to move to Murrells Inlet and if the quality continues we will become regulars.

Review: After waiting an hour past the time the hostess quoted us to be seated, which was 35 to 45 minutes, we were not even shown to our table, just told to go up the stairs. We found our seats, which were literally within 3 feet of the bar stools. When my husband got his first cup of coffee he poured in the cream, which instantly curdled. He hailed the waiter who proceeded to argue with him telling him it was from a newly opened container of cream. He finally asked my husband if he would like another cup of coffee but the cream would be from the same container. My husband said he would. The second cream was fine and did not curdle, not sure if it was from the same container or not. One of us got the wrong salad dressing. Had to ask for more coffee throughout the evening. The waiter was rude throughout out dinner. The portions were small from the early bird menu and I was not all that impressed by my meal. I will not go to this restaurant again.

Review: This is a fantastic restaurant! The regular dinnertime menu can be pretty expensive. The very best time to come is between 4:00 - 5:30 for the early bird special. It has pretty much everything on the dinner menu less than half price. As long as you have your name on the list between those times, you get the special. I eat here everytime I go to the beach.
