This has got to be the worst restaurant in Myrtle Beach. The service was horrible and the food was even worse. It cost me and my husband $125.00 to eat there and we took a few bites and left the food sitting on the table. We ask for silverware three times and still waited for 20 minutes after our food was served before we got the silverware. My husband ordered jasmine rice and was served PLAIN WHITE RICE. When he questioned the server about it she argued rudely that she knew what jasmine rice was and that was jasmine rice. The worst mistake in dining we ever made.

I would not recommend this restaurant. Over priced and they don't let you subsitute side dishes and everytime we asked for something the waitress charged us extra. If I was given a choice between Fire Island and McDonalds, I think I would go with McDonalds at least their you can subsitute

Went to this resturant on 4-20--12, with friends, we are locals, I had the sea food platter, all frozen, not fresh, small portions,my wife had steak, mostly fat and grissle, got a small portion of 2 side with meal, ordered a side salad for 4.00 extra, small portion also, it was a 25.00 meal that was worth maybe 10.00. Didn't receive any bread or crackers with salads, the hostess that seated us tossed the menu's on the table and said enjoy, no personality,i will say the girl that took our order was very friendly, and did a good job waiting on us, will not return to this resturant.

Do not go there. The only reason I went cause I won a gift certificate for there. It was horrible. I order the calabash seafood platter with an extra plate. The fish was cut in half, the scallops were over cooked, the clams looked old, the shrimp didn't have any batter and one of them was spoiled. We also order the chicken wings appetizer, the chicken was not cooked all the way you still saw pink. The buffalo chicken sandwich my granddaughter said was pretty good.

Local and we go out twice a week. Fire Island is our off season spot. The happy hour was great and then we dine with our friends in the dining room. I had one of the specials and loved it. The meal was great, drinks were also. All in all a very good time at Fire Island. People go on sites when they are unhappy, I like to go on and say I had a nice experience when I do.

I had read older reviews of the restaurant and had hoped it would be a fun place for the grand kids to eat as well as having great food. The theme was fairly interesting but the food was very disappointing. There were very few choices and the they did not allow substitutions (eg a vegetable instead of fries). We ended up choosing a pretty standard (burgers, fries, sandwiches...) and it was just so so. And it was very pricey! compared to other places we ate at during our stay, this was the most disappointing. We would not recommend it..

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! The hostess left us outside while she ran in to see what the wait would be. After being allowed inside, over half the tables were empty. Then we found out why. Our salads came right away. Then 30 minutes later, after asking to see the manager, we were brought bread but no manager. 15 minutes later we asked for our check as no food and no manager arrived at our table. The food came immediately and was warm but by no means hot. Five minutes later the manager finally appeared, from the kitchen. She was 'surpised' we had waited 45 minutes for our food and vowed to get to the bottom of things. She then disappeared back into the kitchen, never to be seen again. Receiving our bills took longer than expected, we were given a 10% discount, but no apology. The waitress came back without our bills to ask if we'd like change.

Although this had been our favorite restaurant, we were not pleased at all tonight. We are locals and had frequented the restaurant regularly. The menu has changed and not for the better but the prices went up even more. Worse yet, was that the hostess told us that we could NOT use a gift card for their restaurant with a coupon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later she did come to our table and retract that statement. The food is way overpriced for what you get.The only bright spot in the whole dining experience was our very kind and efficient waitress. We are not planning on returning and will tell our family to not buy us any more gift certificates for Fire Island Grille

I live here in Myrtle Beach and I enjoy going out with a few friends for happy hour and then sit down for dinner. We found a great place! Great bartenders, good food and the atmosphere is one of the best. Lots of appetizers, well rounded menu choices and happy hour seven days a week! This is our new Friday night place!

My wife and I ate here for the first time on 2-22-11. The food was good, but not worth the price. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. Our dinner would have been better if we hadn't been seated beside 10 very drunk and very loud senior citizens. We are seniors ourselves, but we try to have respect for others. Next time we will definitely ask to move away from the partiers.

First time in the area and this was one restaurant we will avoid when coming to vacation. The poor waitress was beside herself when she had to come over for the 2nd time to tell us what we ordered was not available. By that time, we should have finished our wine and went elsewhere, as it didn't get any better when the food was presented...do your homework prior to going to this establishment...!

This restaurant was average, in pretty much every way. The atmosphere, which seemed neat on the website, is actually pretty hokey once inside. The food was good (although the rice was so loaded with hoisin sauce as to be extremely heavy, the hummus was delicious). It was pretty overpriced and our server was as close to being rude as possible without actually getting there. There are better places for the price.

As I sat down at this restaurant, I was excited to stick my teeth into some delicious food. I thought, well if the food is anywhere as good as the atmosphere, this will be one for the books. At first, Everything was fine, my appetizer of calamari was delicious. Then, the family next to me had some major complaints that made them leave. Luckily, I heard what they said to the manager. First, they had been seated, and then reseated. This family had two young children, have sympathy. Next, they had no more clean glasses, so their drinks were served in Styrofoam cups. To my surprise, the children didn't tear them apart as most 5-9 year olds would have done. Lastly, their plates were dirty. Soon after they had left, the family behind me had a complaint to which their server responded, "I will speak with my manager." This may have just been a rough night, but while sitting with my family, my meal was the only one to take an extra 10 minutes to come out. After a few moments, I had realized my order was either forgotten or taken elsewhere. I rushed my family to eat on without me. My massive rib platter was brought out to me in an untimely fashion, but that isn't what made me break. My "fall off the bone ribs" had to be sawed into with my steak knife for me to get a bight. Charred to an imperfect state, I couldn't even eat them. My void of hunger was filled with disdain. After all is said and done, to me, the Fire Island Bar & Grill is a half baked themed restaurant. It is worth its dollar for its atmosphere, but the product which you are buying has a mere fraction of the care put into the full picture.

We walked into a beautiful restaurant but were greeted by a hostess lacking any nice personality whatsoever. The menu appeared that the food would be excellent and the prices led us to believe that the food would be top notch. Understanding that this is a tourist community the high prices were not shocking but the scallops were dirty and overly sauced with a horrible thick lemon sauce. The mahi-mahi skewer was akin to a brick on a stick and flavor free. Do not waste your money at this restaurant.

Came in the other night with my family, I had not only the worst service I have ever had, not to mention the server "was told" not to make any alterations to the meal. They don't even have RANCH! When I complained to a manager she came out to speak with us and had not the slightest bit of concern, then heard her as she walked away grumbling. This restaurant has potential but the customer service is absolutely terrible. Customers are the foundation for a business. They are not consumer friendly at Fire Island Grille. This restaurant is going down unless they can get someone in there who cares about customers to straighten things up.

We arrived early for dinner since we had not eaten lunch. We were the first to arrive in the dining room. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Fire Island Shrimp appetizer and it was awesome. The steak was great as well as the vegetable skewers. I could not imagine sweet potatoes on a skewer but I loved it. It was a little overpriced but worth it. I would definitely return.

Horrible food and atmosphere. What a letdown after viewing their website. Atmosphere was tacky and rundown. Food was overcooked and dry. Our skewers were accompanied by gigantic mounds of sticky rice that could feed a family of ten. The only redeeming feature of the restaurant was the crab dip appetizer that we ordered. We'll never go back. There are just too many other good restaurants in Myrtle Beach.

I am a local and have been coming to Fire Island Grille once a week since November. I just can't get enough of the food! I love the Pork Chops and the Island rice, my husband is a rib man and what a great rack of ribs he gets! Happy Hour starts at 4pm we go drink $4.00 Martini's then have a fantastic dinner. I even request my favorite server Tracy. I love the Tropical atmosphere. I love it all!

Where to begin....... After an overpriced meal and a less than satisfying stay we left hungry never to come back again. This place is poorly ran and will close its doors in the months to come. You expect southern hospitality in the south not attitude for asking someone to do their job! I have worked many years as a restaurant general manager for the darden corporation in Indiana, so take my word stay clear of this place. i can think of many other places i would rather provide my patronage to like McDonalds. Be aware the so called cuisine is dark meat chicken ( cheaper for them still overpriced for you) Small shrimp that are less than filling. Just flat out overpriced! Restaurants accomodate needs they do not tell you they can t do that cause the manager said so. GET IT RIGHT MANAGEMENT YOU SERVE GUESTS NOT YOUR NEEDS!

Made reservations as suggested on website so there was no long wait as other reviews stated. I was concerned due to some reviews being so negative but I like to try things out myself. It was a Sunday night and early so not very crowded. Arrived early so we sat at the bar for the happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers- very good pricing! We also had a buy one get one free dinner, again very good bargain and the food was great. The only negative thing I can say is that there was no salad served with the dinner but honestly we had plenty of food anyway. The atmosphere was great and the waitress and bartender were great as well! I would reccommend this restaurant and looking forward to trying it for lunch when they restart lunch hours in the spring!

I ate there the other night, and have to say. It was great! Tracy was our server! She's by far the best server we've encountered anywhere! Food was A-mazing! I had the Filet Neptune..and it was the best piece of steak I've tasted. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. I'm from out west and have never been to any islands but Fire Island made us feel like we were in a tropical paradise! It has an upscale feel and look with down home service. At first glance prices are high but after seein the dishes it was worth every penny. It definately will be a stop for us next time around! Thanks Fire Island and Tracy for an amazing experience!!!!

My wife and I are locals to the area and we were greatly disturbed when we read the below review. The service at Fire Island Grille is top notch! Everytime we frequent Fire Island we always have a wonderful waiter/waitress who is eager to make conversation and create a wonderful experience. I myself have had many table visits by management and if I had an issue with my dish the manager was quick to resolve it. I even left my credit card there once last summer and as soon as I called and spoke with the manager I knew it was in safe and would be ready when I stopped by to pick it up. Fire Island Grille is a wonderful place and I will always recommend it!

My husband and I decided to visit, and sure was a great decision. We both loved the atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly. Our waitress was by far the sweetest girl that we had wait on us during our whole stay. The food was great, we both recommend the filets and the sides of mashed potato and the veggies. The salad that was served with dinner was so yummy. I usually have ranch on everything, but the house salad there is definately worth skipping out on the ranch. It can be a bit pricey, but it is worth every dollar. From the atmosphere, to the staff, and food--we highly recommend.

We were vacationing at Myrtle Beach in August '09 and decided to make a trip to Barefoot Landing...after a few shops we decided to get something to eat, and saw a restaurant called "Fire Island." The main door was unmanned and had no windows, so I was immediately hesitant about spending our $$$ here, but we ended up going inside anyway. The atmosphere is nice, but we ended up waiting over 45 minutes for our dinner. I noticed more tables of people with no food when we arrived, so that was a sign of things to come. We asked for the Manager after we finally received and ate our food (they forgot our two year old's plate) and she came to our table and said "What's up?" Didn't introduce herself but listened to our concern over the long wait time, and said there was a "problem" with the kitchen. And when we brought up the issue of them forgetting our son's plate, she recognized his entree immediately and simply nodded in agreement with our concern. She left our table stating she'll see what she can do, and at that time I left with our two children and waited outside while my wife waited for the bill (kids were already impatient for sitting there so long.) The Manager gave us a 10%, yes only a 10% discount. I witnessed the Manager push thru the door while I was waiting outside and walked beside the restaurant for a smoke and was clearly angry at something. My advise is to stay away from this "Fire Island" place and hit another restaurant at Barefoot Landing...I can see this restaurant closing there doors in a couple years if not sooner at this rate of service.

A great place to eat! It was our last night in MB and we let our daughters Grace and Helen pick the resturant out. What a great choice. We were greeted very nicely and seated right away. Our food was great (shrimp and scallop pasta, 12 oz steak, hamburger and chicken kabs.)Our waitress was from Norfolk VA which we thought was pretty cool; She was very polite and did a job serving our meal. I would highly recommend this resturant. The only negative thing was that they charged for extra bread.

IF i can recommend anything to anyone goin on vaction there, is it to stay away from Fire Island....The food was horrible and the service was even worse. The bartender had a terrible attitude the waitress had NO idea what she was doing! For a 20 dollar meal....its the worst i ever had!

I live local and go out all the time with a group of our friends. Last night we went to Fire island Grille. What a great place we found! We sat out on their deck. We had a delightful server Kathryn, she let us know about the Happy Hour that they have (even on the weekend). We ate and drank, enjoyed each others company and didn't realize how time had gone by. We are glad we found Fire Island and we will be back!!!

Just got back from Myrtle Beach S.C. and had to write a review. Our last night in town and we came upon a great tropical hide away. Fire Island was one of the best meals and good time that we (a group of 6 adults, 4 kids) all had. Great food, nice staff, great drinks! To top it off, it was a Monday and we ate then went out side to see the fire works. If you like the islands you'll love it there!

We stopped at the porch out front and two disinterested "greeters" told us we would have to wait 25-35 minutes or more for a table for the four of us. Nobody else waiting there. All the tables were empty and clean with only two occupied. My wife complained as to why we had to wait so long for a table and the worker said several people just left. We didn't see anybody leave and there was only one table that was being cleaned. The waitress was very nice and the food for the main course was good for myself and my wife. It is very overpriced. Nobody liked the salad (they only have their house dressing), no substitutions allowed, and my kids were hungry for hot pretzels after we left.

Was on golf trip with 3 friends a couple of weeks ago. We were looking for some place to have a few drinks and lunch outdoors after golf. We went to Fire Island. We had never been there but it had a deck and we could see that we could get seated right away. GREAT place. Drinks were great (including a 48 oz. tropical drink that was ridiculous). Food was very good, especially the seared Ahi Tuna. But the main attraction was our server, Suzanne. She was the best! We went back several days later to see her and she wasn't working the deck, but her friend Katie was and she was just as much fun. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Good food, great service! enjoyed the food as well as the server. 7 for dinner and we could not have been more pleased. We all had happy hour and then sat at a table for dinner. I think we tried every dish on the menu between us. I loved my dish. I had the filet and this rice that they make was to die for. My server checked on us as well as having a manager stop by. I felt as if I knew them all when we left..

The experience was a very good one. I had read a bad review on this site about Fire Island Grille and some great ones too. We are locals and like to try out new places. I had the Pork Chops and I will have them again! My Wife had a Seafood Pasta with Shrimp and Scallops she loved it as well. The atmosphere is like being in the Tropics. The server Katie added to this truly a enjoyable time. We will go back and take our friends with us.

DO NOT EAT HERE, Tourist Trap!! If you enjoy overpriced, luke warm food this is the place for you. We should have known this was a bad idea when there was no wait on a Friday night and the waitress begged for us to come in and eat here. We would have been better off purchasing a frozen dinner. I would recommend a frozen drink here, but not for the price. What a rip off.

Dining at the Fire Island Grille was a real treat. The girl bartender was so welcoming with a delicious drink. The atmosphere was so nice and pleasant with palm trees and lighting. Our party of four all thought that the food was excellent, starting with a cool crisp salad and wonderful dressing which I had never had before. The rice was so great with wonderful seasonings and vegetables....so new to me. Then we also had a small skewer of yummy vegetables. The ribeye and salmon that we had was all quite tasty. The homemade bread and delicious butter were a real treat. Our waitress was quite efficient and made our dinner quite a pleasure. All four in our party were very impressed with everything at Fire Island Grille and look forward to returning very soon. Sylvia Nuckles Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Just wanted to inform you on a dining experience I had on Monday march 2. I was very disappointed that the menu had changed. I know a group of co-workers and I used to go their just for the sweet potatoe fries. I was disappointed to hear that you no longer had them. Also, the rice was terrible. I am used to your old wild rice you used to have, however it was replaced with a terrible choice. The salad selection is RIDICULOUS.....having only one dressing available. That is unheard of. Being a vegetarian, I will not come back there and advice everyone not to either. The vegetable skewers were skimpy and needs improvement. No wonder why the place was empty.

What a horrible experience!!!

My daughter and I went to Fire Island Grill for the first time about a week ago. We were greeted by one of the staff that seat us at bar level seats (and I pass 60 years old).

We had a coupon. At the end of the meal we were told by the staff person you had to order from a different menu and they would not honor it, the coupon was seating at the edge of table when we order the waitness never mention that. I would not recommend this restaurant, nor would I go back.

They never responded to any of my emails.

For those who loved Fire Island, it is a thing of the past. They have an entirely new menu and gone is the fabulous food we once knew. Yes, even the skewers with the 5 dipping sauces are gone. For the same high prices (which I didn't mind since the food was wonderful) you now get undercooked chicken thigh meat as the skewers. The over sized portions have also decreased. The menu seems to be mostly Thai and Greek influences. Will never go back again, which is really too bad since we had loved this place so much and frequented it often.

My husband I went to Fire Island Grill for the first time about a week ago. We thought that it looked like a good place to eat. After walking in and being amazed with the layout. We were greeted by one of the staff that tried to seat us in a very small table under some trees. We told him that we would just wait. We waited at the bar patiently only to notice that other couples of two were being seated before us. As 20 minutes went by, the gentleman leaned across the bar to ask if we wanted to sit in the seat in the very back. At this time, I was extremely hungry and just wanted some food. So we sat only to wait 10 minutes more on our waitress that had no idea that we were sitting in her section. We ordered and the soup that we ordered came, rather my husbands soup came first. Our waitress then noticed as she was sitting at the bar with a friend, that I didn't get my soup. She ran by to inform us that the other soup would be out in second. The soup was very good, especially the chili. Our food came out and the meat was also very good. My husband had skewers with rice and I had the skewers with lo mien noodles. The rice was so dry and bland and the lo mien noodles were extremely greasy. We complained to the waitress and her response was "Oh really" then "Yeah, we've had a lot of people complain about the rice. They keep saying they are going to do something different with it." Needless to say, we were very displeased with the food and extremely displeased with the service. Our waitress was more worried about the guy at the bar than working that night. We will never go back again.

What a horrible experience!!! We went to Barefoot Landing at 7:15 planning to eat and see the fireworks show at 10:15. After being told we would have a 45 min. to 1 hour wait, we ended up with over an hour and a half. Then they placed us (party of 10) in a table that was designed to hold 7. We had to squeeze two extra chairs on the side. They messed up the food order, the food was cold and some actually undercooked. To add insult to injury, we missed the fireworks. Horrible!!!

I have to say, after eating here in July '08, it is now my favorite place to eat!!! It was AWSOME!!! We cut out a cupon from one of those Myrtle Beach cupon books, for a free appitizer; we got the coconut shrimp and it was amazing. For our entrees, I got the pick 7 skewers with viggies and my husband got the ribeye with fries; we both LOVED it! After our meal my husband got a couple shots and a beer and I got mixed drink. It was SO good. Not only was the food amazing, the decor was cool too. It was set up like a tiki hut. I wish it were a chain restaraunt so we would have one closer to home! We vowed that every time we go to Myrtle we would eat there at least twice per trip!!!

Both years we had 5 adults and 3 kids and everyone loved it. They have several unique dishes. A couple in our party had steak and it was better than most steak houses we've been to. All the other dishes we had were great, too. We will go back this year, too!

My boyfriend and I have never heard of Fire Island, but its website and reviews from this website looked very good. We weren't disappointed! The island themed atmosphere set the mood from the get go. There was no wait what-so-ever and the waitor was very attentive. The meals were arranged neatly with detail. It was cute :) Although the portions seemed small when first brought out, they were VERY filling. I will be going back on my next visit to Myrtle and I recommend others trying it as well.

With the spotty service reviews we were hesitant to try Fire Island but we had nothing to be worried about. The food was excellent as was the service. The Hot Shrimp and Crab Parmesan Dip appetizer is a must. The assorted skewers and sauces were very good as was the Cedar Plank Salmon. We have kids - 11, 9, 6 - and they were very happy as well, probably a result of the larger than average kids menu. We definitely go back.

My girlfriends and I go to Myrtle every September for a getaway. We tried Fire Island in 2006 and went back in 2007, and plan to go again this year! Our first experience was excellent except for our waitress. She kept passing by our table, and never brought our bread; she failed to keep glasses full, and we finally had to call upon another person to help us. We still wanted to go back, so we gave the restaurant another try, and were very pleased with the place, this time our waitress was excellent. The food has always been great, so we'll be back again next year! PS The skewers and sauces are out of this world!!

Too bad it's facing the parking lot and not barefoot :( The service is not too good. The Kitchen takes forever to cook the food when it's rush time. The bar is pretty cool! Went to this restaurant after it had been opened for a short time---we were seated immediately---no line whatsoever--we were the only patrons there. Our party of 6 was seated in the far back corner of the restaurant, our server was very slow and had no recommendations on food items. The food came slowly--one dish at a time----it was cold-not at all warm! The waitress never came back to see if we needed refills, or to ask if we needed anything else--no coffee or dessert was offered--can't say we would have ordered any anyway. The price was very high for the poor quality of food. There was no noise in the restaurant, no radio no anything. We were the only ones there and the atmosphere was terrible--the lack of an attentive waitress--no sounds---being placed in a far back corner --- made us feel as if we weren't really welcome! Needless to say we will NEVER go back

Good Grief Charlie Brown ! How can the reviews here be so far ranging, from the absolute worst to the greatest place since sand was created.

Everyone should know that you will be told there is a wait even if the restaurant is empty. Most all restaurants operate in this manner. It is just a ploy to sell more drinks; as soon as you go to the bar and order a drink your table will suddenly be ready. If you don't want a drink, stand your ground, tell the hostess you will not be having drinks and would like to be seated. If you are not seated in a restaurant with available tables then you should leave, immediately, and tell the manager why.

My wife and I shared the seven skewer dinner with 2 Steak, 2 Chicken, 2 Pork, and 1 Swordfish. We both also had salads to go along with our dinner. We were very pleased with our meals. The five dipping sauces were also excellent. Our service was great as well. We would definitely go back to this estasblishment. Norm and Eve Connors Sinking Spring, PA

We were not greated by the 2 hosts at the front when we walked in. They told us it would be a 30 min wait for non smoking so we sat at the bar tables (there was 2 couples in the whole section) I walked to the restroom and the dining room was empty! (why a 30 min wait) To make a very long story short after we had been there over 45 min we told our waitress we did not want the appetizer just bring the food 10 min later someone brings the appetizer (sampler) The chicken strips tasted like they were out of a frozen meal It was not very good. Then after another 20 min or so we got our food. I ordered the veggie burger and sweet potato fries 3 people at the table ordered skewers and the other ordered pasta. Everyones food was cold not warm but cold. We asked for the manager and explained to him how bad the service was and how we had been there over an hour before we got our food. Nobody ate the food. On the way out the manager said to us "I found the culprite behind the cold food, my heating lamp went out!" We will never go there again.

The skewers with the differnet dipping sauces are a must to try! My husband and I were able to split the 7 skewer meal which included steak, chicken, pork and swordfish and a large portion of rice. We have visited MB for the past five years and this was our first experience at this restaurant...it really is wonderful food. The service was a bit slow, but it was quite busy when we were there. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

This resturant is GREAT! My husband and 2 small daughters went there for lunch and it was great. The girls had an awsome time and enjoyed the table which looked like it was on fire. The waitress was very quick and told us all about the menu and even referred some stuff to us. She brought out the kids meal first and we did not even have to ask her (If you have kids you understand this). Very Nice place. We will be back! The bar is a very trendy looking place and I so wanted to go in and try it - maybe next time.

Awesome place. I was skeptical at 1st hearing the name and figured all items would be spicy. My finace and I got steak and the people taking us out got scewkers, It was the best steak I had in a long time. The drink specials were awesome to. The younger one in our party got a drink with 151 rum in the straw, which was an intersting choice. It looked good, but it was to strong for me. Going back in Aug 2007. Cant wait.

It is so hard to believe there are good reviews about this restaurant on this website! Our party of 9 was seated after about 45 minute wait. One of the hostesses came and took our drink order because we had been at the table almost 15 minutes and had no waitress. After we finally ordered, the kitchen sent out 4 of the 5 meals, we thought the rest were on their way. Oh no. It was a good 15 minutes before the rest of the food was brought out - the others at our table were either finished or almost finished with their food. Meats had absolutely no flavor, but one person reported the ahi tuna was pretty good and the chicken salad sandwich was very good. We had to speak with the manager to tell him how terrible everything was and tell him there was no way we were paying the 18% gratuity that they automatically add to parties of 6 or more. While I felt our whole meal should have been comped (or at least the people who hated their food!), he did give us about a 20-25% discount and didn't charge the gratuity. Would NEVER go back.

Overall, I liked this place and will certainly return. Granted, we arrived right at 4:30 which is when they open. I believe we were the first customers for the day. I ordered a rum runner. it was tasty, but they could use a lesson on how to make a better one. The food was different but tasty. I had the skewers but would like to try something else next visit. The service was mediocre at best. For not being busy, our waitress didn't seem like she cared all that much. Oh well. Her tip reflected her work ethic. The atmosphere was pretty sweet. It was dimly lit and decorated nicely. Kudos on that aspect.

My friends and I take our yearly hommage to MB SC, and Fire Island has been one of our new regular stops while there. They have the Hottest Staff, the best food and the coolest atmosphere. We like the bar & bartenders so much we go there nightly. Im never one to praise so this is new for me but their staff and managment are far ahead of the curve for the industry these guys know whats up!

We stepped into this restaurant and glad we did! This atmosphere is simply amazing and the food was wonderful! We were told to go by friends who visit all the time and now we know why. The few people with the negatives must be "Those kind of people" because this restaurant tops all that I have been to in Myrtle Beach and my friends and I will definately be back our next trip to North Myrtle Beach!

Whenever I need to take a relaxing vaca.-I just head up to Fire Island Tropical Bar and Grille. It's a soothing enviroment that takes me away....The food is simply delicious, you must savor every bite! And for the low prices, you couldn't beat it. Not to mention the service, my friends and family had the time of their lives with our waitress. She had us laughing all night! We were seated right away, but if I had to wait, I would; it's worth it! They have an awesome bar and great cocktails! I love this place and I think everyone deserves a vacation every once in awhile at Fire Island!

We enjoyed our first trip to this restaurant and will go again. We were told that they do not take reservations but arrival at 7pm had us seated by 720.

Our tabled order the crab dip, tuna, filet steaks, and the skewers. Everyone loved their meal. The skewers and 7 sauce option was a lot of fun.

I was at Barefoot Landing on May 15th with 2 friends on vacation. We decided to try the resturant out by the look of it and were in for a disasterous time. We came in and went to the bar and were greeted by a bartender on duty and ordered our drinks. Well 2 out of the 3 drinks made it to us in about 10 minutes, the other drink took over 25 minutes to be made and the only reason we even got it was because we had to ask the other bartender(must have been a trainee) to make it. When the Raspberry Long Island Iced Tea finally made it to our table, our original bartender completely ditched us and we were left all alone without having our food orders taken and with the 25 minute drink that was basically sours mix and raspberry flavoring. We asked for our check because we were so upset we wanted to leave and our first bartender, after he was done flirting with the waitresses, said he was to busy and couldn't get to us and was taking care of the drinks. I will place the setting.... 3 guys at a table, the rest of the bar area empty and the chef/cook kept walking out to the bar to chit chat. The resturant was not busy because I only saw several people enter the resturant the whole 45 minutes we were there. I will never enter your resturant again and will make sure I tell all my friends and family to stay away as well. You have very poor service and a super loud atmosphere. I almost felt like I was in a kindercare building with alcohol being served.

Wow! What a mixed bag of reviews. In any case, I guess we were lucky. We went on a Sunday night, and the place was full, but not crowded. We were seated immediately.

We had two appetizers ... both were excellent. Everyone had different entrees and everyone was pleased. I had the pork and beef skewers with the delicious sauces ... yummy! And, they had a very nice wine selection too.

The atmosphere is very unusual and very inviting. If we weren't so tired from our day of travel, it would have been fun to lounge in the bar area, which looked particularly cozy.

We visit the area every year during the last week in April, and we will make sure to revisit Fire Island Bar & Grill.

p.s. The reason we found this place is that we tried to get into Greg Norman's and the staff (everyone from the hostess down to the bartenders) were absolutely rude. We've been to Norman's in the past and had a nice experience, but apparently their service has gone down under (tee hee).

Great atmosphere. Our wait was < 30 min at 8:30 PM. It was our waitress's 1st day and she was wonderful. Best service we have had in a long time! Food was excellent. I had the beef, swordfish, chicken, and shrimp skewers. All of the meat was perfectly cooked (it was definately not dried out.) My wife had the Cedar Plank Salmon. She says that it was the best salmon she has ever eaten. We will definately return.

Me and my wife ate at this restaurant the night before we got married in may of 2006. It was so good we took all of our family there the night after we got married. The filet was fantastic, and the service was great. Me and her have been dying to get back. We would have never known that it was the first week that they had opened. I would definately eat there again and definately recommend it to anyone going to myrtle beach.

Excellent atmosphere! The food was awesome; however, our waitress was one of the worst we've ever had. Our trip was during a slow season, so the restaurant was not overcrowded, however our waitress kept leaving us and brought our drinks after the food was served, salads along with the meal. We had to have someone chase her down to get any service at all after that. Other than her, the experience was truly enjoyable. The ambience made us feel as we were were in the tropics! We will be going again on our next trip to Myrtle Beach!

Don't know what happened when some of the other viewers visited, but I was very pleased with this restaurant. First of all, I liked the theme of it as we have nothing like it here on Long Island. Second of all, the service was excellent, had several people come over and ask if if everything was okay. Third, my experience with the shrimp and beef skewers was fine. Cooked well and I really enjoyed the various dipping sauces. Rice was also delicious and the price of $12.95 was very reasonable.
