We are locals and dined there yesterday 12/28. Have always loved the food and dine there anytime we're in Myrtle Beach. Yesterday's experience was awful. The food was nasty except for the Jalapeno Poppers and Steak Salad. The 9 layer bean dip, Taco and Quesadilla were down right nasty. We don't send our food back. We just don't come back. $51.00 and some change later we left. I will say the service was good and we tipped him well but the kitchen staff needs retrained. Thank You for the 15 years of food. It only takes one bad time. Too many Mexican Restaurants in the area. Thanks Again

I consider myself a local, grew up here and own property and come down often at least once or twice a month. That being said, we know the tourist traps and the places to stay away from. Burro Loco has been a staple for us since it opened probably 20 years now. The fajitas are the best I have eaten anywhere and still are. The other menu items not so much. If you go get the fajitas they are great. I was there this past weekend and decided to order a burrito which used to be good there. Changed completely from the last time I ordered it. The burrito I had was probably a frozen item just heated for service. It was nothing but refried beans and a little meat. Waitress was great took it off our bill. It sadens me to see great places which have come and gone here on the strand because they are not as good as they used to be. I hope this is not one of them, I would definately recommend Burro Loco but just the fajitas.

This place is great! My husband loves the Velvet Elvis! Ribs and Fajitas. We make this our 1st choice for our "out to eat night" while staying at the beach for the week. Their cheese dip is to die for!

My husband and I travel to MB every fall and have eaten at Burro Loco at least once each visit for well over 10 years; it's our favorite Mexican restaurant (here in Washington or at the beach). The flavor and quality of the food has always been consistently good -- I like that they use shredded beef rather than ground beef in the enchiladas, and their food, though well-seasoned, isn't "hot". We typically arrive before 6 and are usually seated right away, and have had poor (inattentive) service on only a couple of occasions. Noise level is terrible, though, what with the brick/stone walls and high warehouse-style ceilings. Can't speak to the quality of the margaritas, as we don't drink alcohol.

Me and my girls that I work with always either go to burro loco for lunch or after we get off work for happy hour. And we had went today for lunch, it took no time for us to be seated... Took no time for our server to come over. Thats when we had problems myself and one of my girlfriends had ordered a margarita- our server brought our waters. (mind you we are on our lunch break) and she never asked us what we wanted to eat. She said ill be back with the margaritas. It took 10 minutes to get our margaritas not because they were busy but becuause our server was slow! we sat there for an hour between the time that we got there ate and everything. Seriously? your not even busy and your making us late from our lunch break bc of poor service. Food was great no problem with that.... Just the service sucked!.

me and my family go here every year when we go down south and not once do we ever complain about the food or service. maybe the wait is a tad bit long at times...but TRUST me its worth the wait. i usually get the jalepeno poppers which are out of this world and by far thee best i've had. and then i get the pork burrito topped with their queso sauce. DELISH!

My husband and I tried burro loco on a recent visit to myrtle beach and I'm so glad we did! We actually went twice! Our first visit was during Happy Hour, and the prices were awesome and the margaritas were amazing, we were a little confused when our server brought us over some chicken wings, only to find out you get them free when you order drinks! we were so full off the free food we didnt have room for regular food! Our server was Allison and she was cute as a button, and made sure we were satisfied the whole time even though the place was a zoo, it was a little loud at times with the band, but they were extremely entertaining. We came back the next night after happy hour and ate in the dining room, our service there was great too! the food and drinks came out efficiently and our server, Marissa, made great menu suggestions! we think they only hire pretty little girls HA. we will definately be coming back everytime we are in myrtle!!!!

OMG! This place is AWESOME! Went there for a birthday party and they had a live band during Happy Hour. The place was jamming. The Birthday girl was celebrated by a ride on the donkey!! Please someone take me to Burro Loco on my birthday! The pollo fundido was the best I ever had. They give you free chips and salsa. We also had free chicken wings for happy hour.

We are local and the "Crazy Donkey" as we call it is one of my favorite places to eat. Food is great. Great Ribs.. We have been going there since it opened. We eat there every Fri night before a home MB Seahawk football game. We like to have Brad as our server. He is the best! get us in and out in time to make kickoff. Lately we have not had very good experience. Food is still great. Problem is the bar area. It has become a hang out and way TOO loud. You have to navigate around the intoxicated people in the bar to get to bathroom and stand in line some times like at a Bar. When we were leaving one guy was throwing up in parking lot ( too much happy hour) and one guy taking a leak in the parking lot. We love this restaurant but if this type of activity continues we will have to move down the road to Aubuelos. Will be a sad day.

After reading the reviews posted by other s my wife and I decided to have dinner Thursday night. We were seated right away and the waiter was ok. He brought the chips and salsa to the table and ask for drink orders. The chips were awful, tasted like store bought Fritos. The salsa was great. When I asked the waiter for some hot sauce he said we don't have hot sauce. After that answer I knew we were in trouble. I ordered tacos carbon and wife had Mexican pizza. The tacos were extremely light on the meat for 11.95 I was disappointed. My wife's pizza was the highlight. It was very good and tasty. Bill was 31.00 with tip. Overall we wont be returning ever . Number one reason this was Americanized Mexican food. Not authentic at all. For this restaurant to get such high ratings I don't understand how so many people could be fooled. You go to a Mexican restaurant for authentic food . Burro missed the boat by a mile. We visited habaneras 2 days later and it blows this place away. Try it for real mex food. Thanks..

Management came out of kitcken 4-5 times durin our visit did not acknowledge any patrons our walk around and ask any one how their meal was. There were probably a dozen customers and plenty of help standing around at the bar doing makeups . food was good service started out well after we received our food drink refills or any checking back was non existant and as I mentioned there were plenty o people on te payroll . once th manager came out of kitchen talked with the gal doing makeuos I stared at him hard to try and get his attention just dissapeared again .you have a serious problem here and it is not in the kitchen .Fortunately for us their are many places in Myrtle Beach that have great foo and service do not antipate coming back EVER!

Homemade margarita mix makes the restaurant a must! The margaritas whether it is a top shelf or not can't be beat! WOW! They were awesome 10 years ago & are still the best ever! I must find that recipe or company that makes mix somehow! Food is sooooooo good.....quesidillas for me & chimichangas for husband. Love it! Don't miss out! You will go back to Myrtle Beach over & over just to eat at Burro Loco! Why cant this company expand? They have the money to do it.....lets get it going....Charlotte, N.C. first please!

We had a brand new server who kept apologizing that she had only been there for 3 days. We sat there long enough to have eaten a bowl of chips and still had no beverages. She kept bringing refills to all the other tables and telling us she was coming with the drinks. Finally, she came to our table and opened her book as if to take our order, again. I then asked for a manager. Who kissed our butts and brought us beverages etc. Then a half an hour later our food came burnt to a crisp. But by that time we had eaten so many chips we were no longer hungry so I told the manager we were leaving. Don;t try this resteraunt when they are busy. They can not handle volume...

As a member of a golf group that attends Myrtle annually, we always make Burro Loco the first stop. The food is great, reasonably priced and always served with a smile. But the best thing about the restaurant may be the tradition of making the new members of the trip take a ride on the Burro Loco around the restaurant, whoopin' and hollerin' as they go! Yee Ha!!!

We have been taking family vacations in the Myrtle Beach area for 10+ years. We discovered Burro Loco 2 years ago. We love it so much that we usually eat at this restaurant twice the week we are at the beach. We've ordered multiple menu items: tacos, fajitas, chimichangas, fried ice cream, burritos..these are the items that come to mind. Every single item is exceptional. The food reminds me of a restaurant in the Fairfax area that claimed to be authentic Mexican food. I say claimed because I'm not an expert on what is or isn't authentic, I am however an expert on what I think is absolutely wonderful tasting food. I loved the Carlos o'Kelly's restaurant in Fairfax & I love Burro Loco and so does my entire family.

I ordered pork " carnitas" plater--the pork was very tender but lacked any flavor like a red chile or green chili marinate. The refried beans were tastless, the spnish rice was also bland. My wife ordered a "mexican" chichen sandwich, only thing mexican was its name. I lived in New Mexico for many years, and traveled in Mexico, and feel the items we had were not close to authentic. Not having had any other menu items, they may be better, but I am not going to take that chance. I would suggest the Las Palmeras rest. in Sunset Beach, the food is fairly close to authentic.

We are frequent visitors to MB and we ALWAYS go to Burro Loco to eat (at least once; usually twice). We love Mexican food and this is our FAVORITE anywhere!! The Pollo Fundido is awesome and their Tortilla Soup is the best you'll find. My only complaint is that I have to wait until I'm at the beach to eat there. They should consider opening another location in WNC.

As a local, I've tried most of the Mexican, and Tex-Mex restaurants in the MB area. I love Mexican, and while El Burro Loco can't be considered and 'authentic' Mexican restaurant, it is still, in my opinion, the best Mexican meal in MB for the money. I consistently receive excellent food, and excellent service. The portions are plentiful, and the atmosphere is fun. I've never had any complaints to speak of. I had one instance of the server giving me the wrong change, (shorted me a $20 bill), but I do believe it was an honest mistake, as it was very busy at the time. I highly recommend El Burro Loco.

The only thing I can say negative is that your restaurant charged my credit card twice and therefore through all the tranactions I made that week-end my account became over drawn and the my bank chagred me a fee of $23.00. The mistake was corrected and I was credited back the money . The bank informed me I would have to contact the restaurant to get the bank charge of $23.00 back. The time of the transaction was Oct.10 2009. If you could help me with this I would appreciate it. Mrs. Deans

Hubby & I ate there our first nite in MB the week of 7/20/09. This place is fantastic!! The food was awesome! If any of you out there have ever went to No Way Jose in Gatlinburg, you all know how great that place is, right?? Well this place is just as awesome! On the nite we stopped in, it was so busy, the manager ( at least he looked like the manager ) was helping out in the kitchen. The service was great, the drinks were great, the chips n salsa was great, the food was AWESOME!! We will definitely come back next trip to MB!!!

We love Burro Loco. It is always our first restaurant night out when we arrive at Myrtle. Great margaritas. Sit at the bar while you wait for your table during happy hour and you'll save some money on your drinks. The salsa is terrific and the margaritas are great. Go for the top shelf ones. Love all the entrees. We will return again in July. Be sure to take your camera for some interesting photo ops!

The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was fine. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible; the Margaritas were also atrocious. Our party had shrimp fajitas and steak fajitas. The shrimp were tasteless and dry; the same applies to the steak. Apparently plenty of reviewers like this restaurant. Indeed, those positive reviews led us to visit this place during our MB vacation. We're sad to report that, in our case, we could only recommend it to our best enemies.

The best - the crazy donkey is our favorite - way too much for 4 people and so much fun. Atmosphere is delightful and festive - makes you feel good. I'd like to try everything on the menu, the donkey feast is a little bit of everything and will always satisfy the whole crowd - best choice. Can hardly wait to make our yearly visit - wish you were closer so we could visit more often.

My husband and I were in the mood for some mexican food. After eating at the sister restaurant, Carolina Roadhouse, we received a coupon for a free fried ice cream. We decided to check this place out.. and are so glad we did! The chips and salsa were WONDERFUL. We both ordered the pollo fundido- delicious! The rice was really bland... but this was our only complaint. They were actually out of fried ice cream, so we received the apple chimichanga for free- yummy!!! We would both recommend this place... it's a lot of bang for your buck!

This restaurant was beautiful, the service was good and the food was excellent. We ordered three different meals, beef and chicken, and all were excellent. The portions were huge and all was seasoned well. We were there in Oct. during fall break so there were no lines. We were seated quickly and the chips and salsa were excellent. Don't try to eat it all, there's enough for two meals so it's a good value also. We will go every time we get back to Myrtle Beach.

Great Food! I have a house in N. Myrtle Beach, and we dine out a lot - after eating at Burro Loco for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I've already been back twice! It is now officially my favorite Mexican restaurant! I had the chicken nachos, it's got real chunky pieces of grilled chicken, not shredded like at most restaurants! My husband got the burritos and said it was the best he's had. My father got the ribs, they have a wonderful sauce and plenty of meat on the bones, unlike ribs you get at other places. The service was okay, we were always seated quickly and chips brought out right away, which is good, but the first time we went, our waiter wasn't really on the ball. Still, the food was so good, we went again that same weekend. The next couple of visits, the service was right at average I would say. The food & atmosphere make it worth a trip to Burro Loco!

I was on vacation with my husband and four friends. One friend mentioned the restaurant with the horse on the sign. We ventured out and found Fiesta Del Burro Loco. We had a great laugh at her description of your sign. We ordered the donkey fest. WOW is all I can say. Four of us split and still took back four boxes. The waitress was GREAT the food was GREAT and we will be back when visiting Myrtle Beach. I was hoping to find another one closer to home.

The family ate there last week and the food was very good. It is more along the lines of Rio Bravo or On the Border rather than a typical mexican restaurants. The five of us had four different meals and everyone said that theirs was very good. The overall noise was a little loud but nothing to stop us from going back next time we are in Myrtle Beach.

A trip to Myrtle Beach wouldn't be complete without at least 2 or 3 trips to Burro Loco. The quality of the food is beyond compare. The atmosphere is fun loving and the waiters are the best around. I can personally guarantee that your visit will be well worth your time and $$$. My only caution would be...make sure your hungry when you go. Makes my mouth water just thinking of it.

We had our annual trip to Burro Loco last night. It is one restaurant that we always visit when we are at the beach. Their call ahead seating is one feature you should use. We are normally seated within 5 minutes when we do that. Our party of four all had different dishes and all were excellent. Personally, I had the fiesta salad. There was so much I couldn't finish it. My daughter brought almost half of her plate home. I think this has always been one of the best values on the beach.

Burro Loco is the best Mexican food my family had ever had. Every time we vist South Carolina we go there. The beef chimmychungas are the best. We love the Salsa and chips to all made there. Too bad they don't sell it to go.The service is great and awsome decor. Twice my son had his birthday and he sat on a donkey and they all sang -- very funny.

Without a doubt, the best Mexican food on the Grand Strand. My favorite is the Pollo Fundido ( our waiter, Tom suggested it). They take a chicken chimichanga and cover it in home-made jalapeno cream cheese and 3 slices of chedder. I've never tasted anything close. My husband loved the Pork Picado. It's grilled pork tenderloin served on a bed of mexican rice, covered in mushrooms, onions, bacon, bell peppers, and tons of Monterey Jack cheese, sizzling on top of a fajita skillet.

The atmosphere is upbeat and the decor is adorned with all sorts of mexican appointments. The booth we sat at had pesos and pesatas embedded in the tabletop.

The service was perfect. All of our needs were anticipated and met without complaint or contempt. You can tell the people who work there really enjoy what they do. Tom was the best waiter we've ever had take care of us. We plan on asking for him next time we go back.

If you are visiting Myrtle Beach and enjoy Mexican food, do yourself a favor and check out Burro Loco. And ask for Tom (He doesn't work on Sundays) You'll be glad you did.

The chicken quesadilla was also very good. The chips are very good as is the salsa.

Our first time at the restaurant was in October and we plan on taking our daughters there when we are down over Thanksgiving. We have enjoyed California Dreaming and tried Loco Burro because of that. Food was excellent and plentiful, but I agree the salsa could have had a little more bite to it. The noise level was a bit much due to several birthday parties going on while we were there. Loud, but not obnoxious. Still a great place to eat.

This place uses top-quality ingredients and does a fine job of preparing them. Shredded beef instead of seasoned ground beef was a pleasant surprise. The platters arrived piping-hot with a nice portion of fresh, cool schredded lettuce and diced tomato. There was not the layer of grease you sometimes find at othet mexican restaurants. (hello, Garcia's?) The chips and salsa were both good quality, although the latter was sadly lacking in the "heat" department.

In fact, my only complaint would be that the food in general was a bit bland for my taste. Then again, I have a bad habit of comparing all Tex-Mex food to that of the Rio Grand Cafe' in Bethesda, MD.

Our receipt contained a coupon for a free basket of croissants at one of their "sister" restaurants - Carolina Roadhouse. That was a nice plus as we had already planned to dine there also.

I have been vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area for a little over ten years now and we return to this place often. The atmosphere is nice and the food is reliably good year after year, an excellent change of pace from the seafood places. I tried the tortilla chicken soup this year and it was very good. I also recommend the polo grande from past trips. One of these years I am going to talk my group into going in on the "Crazy Donkey Feast" with me.
