Visited the restaurant on our last day in N. Myrtle, lunchtime & was able to choose where we wanted to sit, having both comfortable inside & outside dining options. Crab dip app was delicious, and our lunch entrees were enough for take-home. Server (guy w/ long hair, mike?? i think) was helpful & friendly. This spot was recommended to us from friends & we're glad we visited. Thank you.

Never been to Cherry Grove before and didn't want to spend the evening in the car to go out to eat. We actually walked to this place because it looked like such a fun place from the road. The food was excellent and so was the service. Everyone in the place was enjoying themselves. Wait time was short and laid back...have a cocktail or beer outside while yoo wait. Margaritas are awesome here! Can't wait to go back, I will eat here every night. The menu will satisfy everyone in your group.

Just left the Main St location. arrived around 6:00 but was able to be seated imediately. Really loud!! The restautrant had Blues music playing. There was also a street carnival outside. Waitress took order promptly and returned with drinks and salads quickly. Took a while for main course to arive. Food was very good. Got the crab cakes (sauteed), extremey good. Not overly seasoned, but good. My parents got the Fish Po Boy. Two large portions of fish. They seemed to enjoy it. Good experience, would be more enjoyable later in the evening and without the kids.

Last weekend we ordered two takeout combo dinners of oysters, flounder scallops and crab cakes. This food was ready in 20 min- just as promised- and was awesome- the best seafood we have ever eaten anywhere! It was fresh and perfectly cooked. The price was very reasonable. We got the menu online and it was a 10 minute walk from Towers on the Grove. We regret that we have been going to Cherry Grove for 15 years and never tried it before. From now on, Duffy St Seafood Shack will be our place to go.

Thank you Duffy Street everything you serve is great. Had the combination and mmmmm. Went back several times during the week and never had bad food. You can't go wrong eating at Duffy Street Seafood Shack. I made a mistake, I stopped by the Cherry Grove Seafood Hut first, OH what a MISTAKE that was. Ordered shrimp and fish and the piece of fish was no bigger than a couple of eggs. 7 pieces of popcorn shrimp and sting fries. All of it was burnt, I mean slap burnt up. I would like to know if he changed his grease more than once a week. I sent it back and left. I should have known when I went in at 1 p.m and it was empty. On through the week everytime I looked over as I passed it, the waitress was outside feet kicked back smoking, I would advise that no one eat at Cherry Grove Seafood Hut.

I and another couple had bad meals at this restaurant . After sending the manager an email describing same, the owner and manager both contacted me and were very concerned about my experience & satisfaction. Great customer service not seen very often in this day of 'No customer service"! will definitely eat here again..

We happened to visit the Cherry Grove location on 3/28/11, a particularly cold off season night. We were seated right away and the staff was friendly and prompt. My wife and I have two small children and the staff catered to them, which was very nice. Very easy going atmosphere, great blues music playing in the background and peanut shells on the floor. The restaurant was pretty much empty so we had a lot of attention paid to us, and my drink was refilled promptly. Overall the food was you average seafood fair, nothing over the top, and the bill came to about $75 before tip - About average for a seafood please. I'd visit again.

Duffy's is one of my all time favorite places to eat. I always eat at the one in Cherry Grove. The place isn't much to look at from the outside but if you can get past that the food more than makes up for it. I had the grilled scallops, fried clam strips, and broiled shrimp. Immediately you could tell the difference in the freshness of the shrimp. Vicki, our waitress, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and made sure everything came out the way we ordered it and that we were completely satisfied with our meals. Duffy's is one of the true gems of the Myrtle Beach area. Check it out, you won't be sorry!

Ate at Duffy's tonite for dinner. We had the fried shrimp and scallops. We were seated immediatley since it is off season. Wait staff was good. Shack was fine but could use a little detail cleaning like the condiment bottles and chairs. We were served in a timely manner. Food was okay.. I have had much better in MB at other restraurants. Scallops were good. Hushpuppies overcooked and slaw was not tasty at all. Probably would not eat here again in the future. Costly for 2 people for quality of food.

This place was ok. I think the one in Ocean Drive is nicer. The food is ok, but on the expensive side. I saw ants in the bathroom, but given how open the place is, I'm not surprised. It is a very casual restaurant. The shrimp my kids got was fine, as were my crab legs. We were underwhelmed by the place and even a little surprise at our bill ($60+). There's many places that are better in terms of price and food.

Although we were seated right away, they seated us in the darkest area of the resturant. I guess we should have asked to be moved. The waitress we had wasn't the nicest person in the world, she took our order, brought our drinks then someone else brought the food out. The waitress checked on us one time during our visit. The food was terrible, no one in our party could even eat half of it. We were at the newest location on highway 17 near the Tanger Outlets. This was our first and last time. We were very disappointed with the service and food.

I got a dinner for takeout one night. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It came with hush puppies and Cole slaw. The meal was very good. The crab cake was on a bun with a slice of tomato and romaine lettuce leaf. They included some honey mustard type sauce with it. The crab cake was very good. Crispy on the outside and fresh and tasty on the inside. The hush puppies were also very good. I had to go inside to the bar to pick up my dinner. The restaurant itself was very crowded. It's a small place where you throw the peanut shells on the floor and the peanut shells were all over. The place was so crowded that folks were seated at the bar elbow to elbow. I would go back here.

I had to take the time to say, we dined at Duffy Street in Cherry Grove a couple of days ago. The food was AMAZING! Most restaurants tend to overcook calamari and shrimp. We ordered both and they were cooked to perfection. I am a seafood snob and felt so compelled that I had to write this review. Great job guys!!!!

We are staying in the Cherry Grove area this week and decided to visit Duffy's on 6/29/09. We went about 7:00 pm and the wait wasn't long--about 15 minutes. Unfortunately the food was very bad. I ordered the soft shell crab and sent it back. It was inedible. Whatever it was breaded with was terrible and after picking that off, the crab didn't taste any better by itself. The hush puppies were raw and like dough. My partner ordered the scallop platter which was extremely overpriced for the amount of food she received. The seasoning was bad and her hush puppies were also doughy. We were terribly disappointed and I ended up only having the sweet tea I ordered. My partner ate her food but was dissatisfied. We would not go back.

I live in Cherry Grove and have given this place 4 chances. The last time we walked out after 15 minutes of being ignored . And the place was not that busy. Service has been terrible EVERYTIME. Food was just average. However this is the Sea Mountain Highway location I am talking about. I have gone to the location on Main Street once and had a pleasant time. I am also a concierge in the area and have sent some guests to this location with mixed results.

6/20/09 Unique place with a definite local beach flair. It was noisy, but that was a part of the atmosphere. If you're looking for quiet fancy ambience, this is not the place. However, it lends itself to either a family meal or just hanging out with friends at the bar. Blackened fish appetizer and fried scallop entre were delicious. Was definitely not happy with the "award-winning" crab cakes. They were very bland, and I did not like the "tartar-like" sauce. A bit pricey but we woud try it again on our next trip.

My husband, daughter and I went there for the first time last week. We got there early and promptly were seated. No waiting. Jason our server was great, friendly and helpful! Our appetizers, blackened fish bites and shrimp wrapped in bacon, were excellent!! My husband got a seafood platter, with crab legs. I had lightly battered and fried shrimp and oysters...came with yummy french fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. Daughter had the cheeseburger which she gave two thumbs up!! Everything was wonderful! Being somewhat full from the appetizers, I could not finish my meal, so got a "doggie bag". Glad I did..I enjoyed it just as much the next day for lunch! We loved this place...and put it at the top of our list of restaurants to return to!

My husband and daughter and I visited in early June 09 and were sadly disappointed. The service was great, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. When asked for a suggestion on what to order, he beat around the bush and suggested everything, but that is to be understood as everyone likes different things. The food took a bit long to come to the table and my daughters child's meal was cold. Her cheeseburger meal was priced at $6 and that did not include her soda. Our meals were decent but not spectacular, especially for the price. When we got home and I checked out the bank account, the server had added an extra 12 dollars onto the 20% tip we had already left him so I had to go through the hassle of calling them to get it changed to the correct price. Just not a pleasant experience

A nice little hole in the wall that we discovered recently while down at the beach for our anniversary. We had the shrimp appetizer wrapped in bacon and a cheese sauce which was awesome. Also had a pitcher of their rum runners. Once again, good stuff. Very laid back atmosphere and fun. Could use some updated tv's and the parking lot needs some work but overall a nice place for drinks and some seafood..

My family and I were there last week. Everyone except me and my father ordered seafood. We ordered cheeseburgers. We both agreed that the burgers were outstanding. Tasted like they had been grilled on charcoal. My father is quite the critic so if he said it was outstanding, it was. As for the others, they had Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwiches which they loved. The fried pickles are a must! This is one of my favorite dives because of the quality of food and the relaxing atmosphere.

Even the hush puppies were in the fryer too long!

This restaurant had been one of my favorites mainly because of their award winning crab cakes. This visit 07/07/08 was horrible!! Everything was over cooked, actually burnt! I could not even recognize the crab cakes! The fried corn on the cob, hushpuppies, crab cakes - totally FRIED to a very hard CRISP! The price was crazy! My last visit. My brother and I stumbled upon Duffy's in 2006 one day when it was raining. We were bored and decided to walk over for a few beers and some lunch. The food was good, and the beer was cold. We could have sat in there all day and been perfectly happy. This place is right out of a Jimmy Buffett song. My girlfriend and I are making a trip to Myrtle Beach in a few weeks. We'll be making a trip to Cherry Grove to visit Duffy's for sure!

We thought that this restaurant would be a great place to eat since it was close by to our hotel and very crowded. We were seated quickly, but our service was horrible! My drink came out watered down and in a paper cup. We ordered an appetizer that came out after our meal and it was disgusting. We didn't eat but a bite and we were charged full price for it. The food was plentiful, but very greasy. We left there feeling sick. Our waiter was not very knowlegeable and kind of rude. I would NOT recommend this place. The fried pickles were not so great. I did notice a couple of waiters that were better to their tables though.

I am a Duffy Street Regular. "Shack" is the key descriptor. The beer is very cold and there is an excellent oyster, crab and schrimp by the number happy hour. Great, (generally blues), music on the stereo. Duffeys is a perfect after work unwinding place. Keep in mind it can be VERY casual, including waitstaff, (I Dropped My Nuts and Picked My Crabs at Duffy Street is the writing on a typical waitstaff Tee Shirt). A little crowded in the summer but otherwise terrific!

Have been going here since 2004 and this past year was disappointing. Ordered the clam basket and clams were overcooked both times in 1 week. Scallop basket was the same. Prices have increased also. Looking elsewhere (Little River) for good eats!

Loved the place!! We sat right away and received our food very quickly. The laid back atmosphere was exactly what we where looking for, the place makes you feel like your on vacation. Only two waitstaff working but they did a wonderful job. I can understand we are visiting in the off season and the place will not be wallpaperd with help. I would much rather see a restaurant watching its labor cost in the off season and still be there for many years to come, as opossed to one who waists its money with too much help and is not in business long. I have two businesses, some of the previous review writters who visited in the off season dont seem to understand this. Anyway we loved it Great Food, Great Service, Great Value!!!! We will be returning.

I agree wih earlier post about the slow service. I am a regular at the Sea Mountain Highway Duffy's location. Eat there at least one meal every trip to the beach. I can understand a wait in July when the place is packed and twenty people outside waiting. Friday, Oct 5th around 7:30 pm. The upstairs was closed. Couple empty tables downstairs. We waited at door to be seated like we do during summer trip. Two servers saw us but niether one said a word to us. Finally went into bar area and girl said to just pick a table. Sat at table. Still a ten minute wait to have waitress acknowledge we were there. Over twenty minute wait for food to arrive at table. Love the food and atmosphere. Getting tired of the slow service. May be looking for new seafood restaurant for future trips..

I enjoy the atmosphere, the food is good. I don't even mind when I have to wait a bit for a table. But no matter if they are crowded or not you have to wait close to an hour to get your food once ordered. Sometimes that problem alone, makes me go some where else.

Where do I begin? Ate here on 8/15/07, because a friend recommended it. (I will not hold this against her) We asked to be seated upstairs (as suggested by my friend). We were told that 7 people could not be seated a the same table upstairs as the floor would not support the weight. (We should have left at this point). We were seated down stairs immediately at a corner table in the middle of a month's worth of rotting and putrid peanut shells and beer. (at least the bitting flies were enjoying it). During our entire visit at Duffy's the ceiling was dripping into our drinks and food and soaked a whole roll of paper towels before we left. Our food came quickly and everything was surprisingly delicious (crab cakes, hush puppies, shrimp etc). Overall, this 'eating establishment' (if that's what you want to call it) was very disappointing. If you want to enjoy thier food, you may want to order take out and enjoy it in a suitable environment somewhere else. Will not go back.

This is the place if you want good seafood and a laid back, casual atmosphere. It's the place to go when you come off the beach and have a craving for oysters, shrimp & beer. It's not the place to go when you want to get dressed up and "dine". It is the place to go when you want good food and service. The grouper po boy lunch special was excellent (better than the grouper at Filets & $15 less). Their cole slaw and hushpuppies are great too.

It is what it is.

What it is- an unprententious, noisy little restaurant perfect for drinking cold beers and peeling boiled shrimp on a lazy afternoon in whatever you felt like wearing or not.

What is not is a place for large families or groups, dressing up or air conditioning, unless you sit at the bar or one of the few tables inside.

Don't try to make it more than it is- it is a shack, get it?

While I was with my best friend and her family on vacation we went to Duffy's for dinner one afternoon. It was a VERY laid back place. There was about a two minute wait until we found our seats and we were tended to immediately. I am only 14 so to me the food was expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and it was delicious and definitely more than I could eat. My friend politely asked if she could somehow subsitute the coleslaw or french fries for onion rings and the waiter rudely replied, "No, you cannot have onion rings." and gave my friend a rude look. Other than that we had no problems with the service and the food was great. I will definitely remember to go back there for their awesome food, but hopefully I will not run into that same waiter. And I will never forget their motto, "Drop your nuts and pick your crabs!" Ha ha.

There were four of us in our party. We went to Duffy's around 4:30 on a Monday night. We had the early specials - crab legs and shrimp. Both were excellent. We also had an order of fried vegies. They were good too. We were still kind of hungry, so we shared two platters. One was the crab cakes, the other was grilled Grouper. Both were delicious. The cole slaw was some of the best I ever ate. We all had a couple of beers and our bill was $98.00 dolllars. We had a lot of food and it was very good. We all said we would go back.

Have to agree with previous post about how you will either like this place or despise it. All depends on your attitude and what you are expecting. If you want your hand held, "sir and madamed" to extreme or fine place settings - go elsewhere. If you want to relax in your beachwear, have good food that is reasonably priced, and enjoy yourself - visit Duffy's. There is a reason it is called Shack, not Chez Duffy. We will be back in 3 weeks and will go twice for sure. Seating can be an issue because neither location is very big but it is not enough to keep anyone away.

We visited Duffy's on our first girl's beach trip and found a wonderful spot--the food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. We had shrimp, crab legs (the BEST in the area), several cold drinks, and some fried pickles. None of us were disatisfied. The week that we went was not very crowded so it was perfect. As a matter of fact, we booked our condo for this year within walking distance to Duffy's!

Any time we are at the coast, we make sure to drop by Duffy Street. It is a welcomed change to the pace and crowds a few miles South. We have oysters on the half shell and shrimp for appetizers with a couple of cold brews. My usual order is the crab cakes sandwich and our kids love the smiley face fries. Sit back, feel the breeze, listen to music and watch the cars go by. I have two visits planned for this month alone, can't wait.

Just moved to the area about a year ago, real close to Duffy's. We tried to order take out on 2 occasions. We were on hold so long that we hung up both times and thought that they might be so busy because they are so good. That was wrong. The food is priced high, which would be ok if it were good. It's not. Nothing good to say about the place.

My wife and I did a little LRRP work last year and discovered Duffy's. The atmosphere is just what we were looking for. We are emptynesters so we don't have to act our age anymore. The food is good and the beer is cold and the staff attentive. The Blues music was an unexpected bonus. We will be returning this year with 4 other couples and will be making a few stops at this establishment. Walk in pick a seat and order your food and drinks. If you need to be greeted at the door and shown to a seat, go to a car dealer where they will be glad to help you, but BYOB. Looking forward to a return visit. A great place for good friends to just sit have a meal, a few drinks, and B.S. for awhile.

No they don't have greeters at Duffy's. They don't need them. That's just how laid back the atmosphere is. It's not a matter of being rude. It's more of a "Welcome, come on in, make yourself at home" type place.

The noise level isn't any higher than any other popular eatory. The food quality and quanity is well worth the price.

If you're looking for a place with linen table cloths and somebody to serve your every want and need, Duffy's isn't your type of place.

If you want to lean back in your chair with a beer and listen to some blues while you enjoy your meal, Duffy's is the place to go.

Four more weeks till I get my next Duffy fix. Can't wait!

Ignore the reviews that say the prices are high. The prices are right on. Not cheap, but not expensive. The taste and quantity of the food easily justify the cost. There is a reason Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock are still in business in this area. Some people like glossy homogenized tourist destinations. Other people will eat all the lousy seafood they can hold at a buffet if the price is low enough. Duffy Street is EXTREMELY casual, the food is excellent, the service is decent and the drinks are very good. The fried lobster sandwich and soft shelled crab sandwich are both very good. They come piled high with fresh cut fries and hushpuppies for $10. Sorry, I saw no celebrity memorabilia during my visit.

This place is great. Blues playing, Ice cold beer, peanut shells on the floor, you can't get anymore laid back. Our food was great and our server was wonderful. We sat on the deck outside and had the time of our lives. The two not so good comments above obviously have a problem enjoying themselves because if you can't enjoy yourself here, you need to have your head examined. We found the prices to be very resonable compared to surrounding restaurants. If your looking for something different from the regular old chain restaurant. I suggest you go to this little laid back family owned place. It's what the beach is all about.

Love the atmosphere and decor. Popeye meets Sanford and Son. If it washed in in the last storm, it's hanging on the walls at Duffy's. Was there last Friday night. Great Blues playing on the sound system. Food is great. Hint: Longer wait for food if you order broiled. But worth it. Wore Duffy's T-shirt to Rib Festival 500 miles away from beach and had several people comment how they love eating at Duffy's.

Been to Duffy's once and once was enough! Evidently they are really really proud of their food to charge what they charge for a plastic basket of overcooked & undersized shrimp and fries. The manager needs to get the prices in line with the type of restaurant they're running. They have the prices of semi-fine dining with food and service that is barely a step above fastfood. The only good thing about Duffy's was there was no wait to be seated and now we know why!

Prices are too high based on overall food quality, compared to other similar restaurants in close proximity. Tries to be like B.O.'s at Key West, but nowhere near the quality or value. This is a Shack...but a fun, down to earth shack where you sit at picnic tables with a bucket of peanuts (throw on the floor of course) and a roll of papertowels for your napkins! They have a wonderful happy hour for peel and eat spiced shrimp (hot or cold), oysters, clams and crab legs. Order sandwiches to dinner plates to a bucket of your favorite seafood. It can't get more "BEACHY" than this. They do have a small kids menu (burger, fish, chicken or shrimp). If you sit up on the second story balcony you can sip your beer and get a glimpse of the ocean.
