Our first visit to Crabby's today for lunch and will certainly be our last. Food was terrible. We ordered a 2 piece flounder plate with French fries and slaw. Fish was ok but was greasy. Could not eat the fries. They were greasy and taste like they had been cooked for a while. Very small portion of slaw (served in a plastic condiment cup). Was told by our waiter that hush puppies or other bread is not served during lunch. Waiter did tell us he would see if he could get us some and did return with 3 hush puppies for each person. Very overpriced for the meal especially compared to other local restaurants with much better food.

This was great, we ate there when visiting and it was honestly really good. The lobster bisque was amazing and the waitress was very nice. She even got us the recipe for one of the appetizers. It was very nice and the workers were very kind even when there was barely anyone there.

Very best in South Brunswick Islands. Those who complained about the food or service couldn't be more wrong. Friendliest staff I've met on any of the seven continents. If you're lookng for great food and not overpriced fancy meals, you should go to Crabby's!!! .

I have visited Sunset Beach on several occasions over the past 10 years. I love the fresh and delicious food sold and served at this friendly location. Plastic cups and utensils are for the laid back and unique individuals, who know the important things in life :)

Crabby's was recommended to us. We ate there 3 times in a one week visit. The food was wonderful, I had stuffed mahi and my wife had a variety of dishes. The service made all the difference to us. The staff (manager Gabby, waiters Noah and Meghan, hostesses "The twins" all were fantastic. Drinks were good, atmosphere was just fine. Plasitc utensils were fun. No complaints what so ever. A truly wonderful experience. Very Very friendly staff. I cant wait to go back.

My Husband and I have visited Crabby Odd Waters for the past 13 years. The food is "Outstanding and Fresh" a great value for the price. My husband loves the Grouper and I love the Flounder. We look forward to going every year. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is authentic to the Coastal area. The food has always been served on plastic for lack of city sewer service in the area. That is about to change - on our visit this year sewer service is in the works. We look forward to another visit there this year. The owners are friendly and dedicated.

Seven women away on a girls weekend to celebrate a birthday and mother's day gathered at Crabby's on Saturday night, May 12, 2012. The drinks were good, the bartender 'D', was very friendly and helpful. 'Cr' was our waitress and she served us attentively. My daughter and I shared a Bodacious Seafood pot and it was absolutely delicious: 2 whole crabs, a snow crab leg, several mussels, clams, oysters (were a little hard to open, but we managed), shrimp with a light sauce that was fabulous, a corn on the cob and roasted potatoes instead of watery new potatoes that usually accompany a dish like this. I tasted my niece's grouper and it was perfectly done. Not a fan of the plastic ware and the paper plates, but it just added to the casual, fun atmosphere. Talked to other patrons (about 25 people sang happy birthday to me!), so everyone had the same sort of casual friendliness that made our evening spectacular. Not fancy, but food is much better than what you expect at a bar type restaurant at the beach. Crabby Oddwaters has become a family favorite!

My husband and I just returned from Ocean Isle. We went to this place because we love seafood and wanted to try the buckets. I got the Shrimp bucket my shrimp was over cooked, the potatoes practically raw and the sausage was burnt. My husband got the shrimp, clam, muscles and oyster bucket. The muscles were excellent, the shrimp over cooked and potatoes raw..The oysters weren't cut they gave him a knife to open them. Imagine that we've never done that before and it wa so messy. Plus most places already have them done. All plastic utensils what a joke. Over priced and lousy atmosphere.

My family has been going to Crabbys for many years now and I can definitely say things have done nothing but improve over the years. They seemed to have revamped the staff because the servers were not only knowledgeable and enjoyable to speak with, but they were much faster than in recent years. We continue to go back because of how great the food is but definitely applaud their new look and service! I reccommend Crabbys to anyone seeking good food and a friendly atmosphere.

Well we entered the restaurant and the bar tender was fixing himself in the mirror. We got seated with in 10 mins and waited 25 mins before they brang out any of our food. When we got our food they forgot my husbands meal, and to top it off they served me a salad that had rotten tomatoes on it. So when the waiter came back I told him to please take my salad and New England clam Chowder back and to take it off of the bill and the best part is it was served in a PLASTIC bowl with plastic utensils...I laughed!!! Now look, I am not trying to be picky but, I have eaten at 5 stars, 4 stars and 3 star restaurants. This was horrible. I would not even send my worst enemy here. I beg you please do not eat at the place it was terrible. Price wise it is not worth it either. Has for a rating I would give it a "0"

My wife and I moved here a month ago and finally decided to check it out. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was pleasant, however we have never been more disguted be a plate of food in our entir lives. We ate some of our bucket of seafood and when we got to the oysters, well lets just say we were about to puke. Inside our oysters was something that looked like mildew and black slime. The worst part was that it smelled like sewer. We showed the waitress and she agreed. She took it down the the cook our someone and all that was offered was a new order or a piece of pie. Niether one of us wanted to eat after that experience and the smell stayed in my nose for quite a while. I cant believe they didnt even offer to comp some of the bill. We will never eat there again and we will definately warn our friends.

Not impressed. The place is up for sale according to their website and the ho-hum, hey I'm for sale so why try attitude really showed through. Seating took a while for a table of 2, but that was forgivable this busy time of year. The real kicker was the fact that the kitchen lost our ticket and had to restart our order. When our order finally did arrive, the quality of the food was not great for the price. Felt that the price justified better quality. The waitress was affable and was trying hard despite the kitchen's gaffe, but unfortunately the service alone will not convince me to return.

Having moved to Sunset Beach recently, I waited until my teenage granddaugher was visiting to dine at Crabby's. What a disappointment!!! The waiter was nice, but told us our selections were wonderful and always received rave reviews. I can't imagine that is true. My granddaughter ordered fish tacos, and they were not good at all, (I tasted) but she was gracious and told me they were fine. My grilled shrimp and scallops were horrible. The only taste was seasonings, primarily basil and thyme. I ate one shrimp and half a scallop. I'm glad I ordered a side?? (little plastic cup with lid like used for ketchup in fast food place) of slaw because my meal consisted of a couple of the hushpuppies and the slaw. My plate was practically untouched, but found it interesting that the waiter didn't ask if I needed a takeout box. I will not recommend this place to anyone. It may be the most overpriced place at the beach, especially for the quality. The service was OK, but the plastic plates and cutlery were a real disappointment. I'm glad we didn't order one of the pastas! While some of the tables could have offered a pleasant view, our table looked down on stagnant water with a dead crab floating by!

This was our first visit to Crabby Oddwaters at Sunset Beach and it was probably our last. Plates, utensils, and cups were all plastic, not at all appealing. The fried foods were very over cooked, way past crunchy. The portions and quality of the foods served did not justify the prices of the entrees. The wait staff on the other hand were polite and efficient.

We have eaten at Crabby Oddwaters several times while visiting Ocean Isle Beach. It was recommended to us by the manager of The Winds Resort at that time. The food and service was always good, however, the last time we were there (in 08), they served our food on paper plates with plastic silverware which I do not like. I ordered the seafood fetticini which could have easily fell off the plate and been disastrous. But all in all we do like it there and would probably go back. Donna Mentor, OH

We visited Crabby Oddwaters for the first time on July 31, 2010. Our server was Noah, and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food selections. I ordered the grouper oscar and asked that the crabmeat be removed as I am alergic to shellfish. My request was accommodated and it was, by far the best grouper I've ever had. Mark had the Tuna and it was also wonderful. We had the key lime pie for dessert, and it was also wonderful. Thanks for a great experience!

My family of 6 adults and three children visited Crabby's last evening for dinner. We were certainly disappointed. The service was extremely slow and the food, served on paper plates with plasticware was very overpriced for the quality. The children's menu was fine, can't ruin a hamburger and grilled cheese with fries. The adults all ordered fish. The Helicious Barge was suppose to come with a variety of steamed fish but was served with oysters (no clams or mussels as indicated on the menu). The oysters had to be opened by the customer which was impossible. Even the server could not help us! We finally opened one and it was all dried. The crab legs had very little meat and even these arrived without a cracker. The server said all of the crackers were in the dishwasher...in a seafood restaurant? The bill was very high...well over $240. The rest of our meals were of the same quality...mediocre at best. The service was VERY slow and our server did nothing to help us as he was so busy that he was harried beyond what he could handle. The A/C wqas not working well especailly in the bathrooms. All in all we will not be going to Crabby's again nor recommending it to any that may ask for a recommendation in Sunset Beach.

We discovered this little gem during a "Moms Night Out" during spring break. The food was amazing! It is by far the best seafood I have had in the area (and we travel there 4x/year). The plastic wasn't a big deal, especially given how good the food was. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend the place!

To other people posting reviews, plastic has to be used because there is no sewage. Also, you're on vacation so relax. We have been vacationing in Sunset for fifteen years, and we used to love Crabby Oddwater's. However, after Saturday night's experience, we will not return. Our waitress was nice, but the manager that was sitting at the bar blessed her out. It was pitiful. I have heard that that woman was a rude drunk, but I have never seen it. I think she made the sweet girl cry. I think that her husband (Bill) was sitting next to her, and he didn't even do anything. I'm truly disappointed, and even though the food is good, we wil not return.

I truely hate to leave negative comments, but this was our very last time to visit this place. Let me start off by saying that we visited here on our honeymoon back in 99 and went every year on our anniversary. We continued to come back even after our first child was born until this past year. The food is excellent if or when you get it! Our experience is the same as many of the other who have posted. The service has be getting slower and slower every year, even though there are plenty of seats available the wait continues to become longer and longer. Our waitress came to take our order and to leave the check...never saw her again. Well that makes us very upset so left exactly what she was worth and she stormed past us cursing and ranting on and on about the tip, we only give good tips to those who do their job. Prices are average, but again we love the food and the atmosphere but the service and waiting time will no longer allow us to spend our time and money here...Sad

We were seated promptly because the restaurant was not that full for 7:00 on a Friday night (now I know why). The waiter seemed as thought he was extremely busy, but we never saw him waiting on other tables only coming in and out of the back. He was not rude, he just wasn't there. The food was served on plastic plates, the drinks in plastic cups, and we were given plastic forks and knives to eat with. The plate that I ordered was missing some things and it was cold by the time it got to the table. I ordered crab cakes that had something hard and crunchy in them. I ordered mac-n-cheese for my son that came with corn on the cob and paid 7 dollars for it. This was way to overpriced, and it probably only cost them 50 cents to make it. My husband and I were on a budget for our vacation and only wanted to eat at a seafood restaurant one night and we ended up paying way too much money for bad, really bad food. We felt as thought we had been robbed when we left that restaurant. We will never enter a restaurant again without reading reviews on it first. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. I really feel sick to my stomach when I think about this place, it ruined the end of my vacation.

This was a horrible experience for the entire group. My husband and I along with five other couples ate here on 10/17/08. The waitress was rude and very unaccommodating. The food was terrible. My husband and I split a combination platter with shrimp, oysters, flounder and scallops. Everything was greasy, over cooked and not fit to eat. Others ordered steamed oysters that were not steamed enough and their side items were left off. A very disappointing experience from start to finish. We will not return!.

First, this was our first time at this restaurant and most notably our last.

Second, I thought that the food was overpriced, but that could have been overlooked because I loved the atmosphere. It was just the kind of place my husband and I would have sought out on a vacation, as we did, along with three relatives.

Finally, I would rate the service and management the night we were there as very, very poor. We were the very FIRST table seated for the night, and our dinner was served 75 minutes later. We only ordered 3 pasta dinners, a steak and blue crab. I can't imagine that taking 75 minutes to make it to the table. We think that the waiter forgot to put our order in, but he never acknowledged it. Our waiter never brought our appetizer until our meal, but that was after he was reminded that we never got it. We told him we didn't want it. He kept forgetting everything. When the manager (maybe he was the OWNER), came while we waited to pay our bill and asked how everything was, I told him that the wait time to get our food was unacceptable. Without asking for further explanation (because maybe WE were the ones who didn't understand), he turned his back and as he was walking away, he commented sarcastically, "It is to be expected this time of year." He couldn't have been more rude. I waited tables nine years before I entered my professional career, and I can say I never saw a manager (or owner) act in this manner. We will never return to Crabby Oddwaters, and if asked, we will never recommend it.

Crabby's is not you ordinary seafood restaurant. My famiy and I have made it a part of our vacation routine since 1993 and have never been disappointed. If you're looking for fresh seafood served broiled, boiled or blackened, then this the place. Be sure to try the nightly specials for something different and sure to stimulate your taste buds. Our kids love the hush puppies.

The entire staff seems to be trying hard to improve the quality and experience. We were seated promptly and the waiter was very attentive. The selection was very good, although a shorter menu than most established restaurants. My wifes order of Snow Crab legs were fresh, hot and plenty. My order of flounder, shrimp and scallops were alse very fresh, nice size shrimp and was plenty to eat. We each took a small amount back to the cottage. Prices were comparable to anywhere else. Well worth a try.

Love Crabby's and the fun, hard working folks that work there. Food is always excellent! Great crab soups, fresh seafood and let's not forget the Key Lime Pie!

The person in the last review needs to leave their attitude at home and should not expect the red carpet to be rolled out for them, especially in a small town beach community. Relax and enjoy! Life is too short.

When our party of 6 arrived, we were told there would be a wait. When we asked how long, the hostess explained that she was not allowed to say !?! We were seated 30 minutes later and discovered only 4 other tables being served. Food was served on plastic plates and bowls with plastic flatware. Food quality was EXTREMELY mediocore, soups were starchy and salty, Seafood Fettucini Alfredo as well. Snow crab was freezer burnt. Service was ok, but food was a BIG disappointment with a BIG pricetag. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
