We were greeted warmly by the hostess and waited a litle less than she had estimated. However, the service was INCREDIBLY SLOW. Our waitress was friendly enough; she just didn't make the rounds very frequently. Also, the food was just average, and the prices demanded better. We'll not be going back.

What a wonderful surprise this restaurant was!! I ordered the stuffed flounder and my husband ordered the bronzed tilapia...it was simply delicious! The best seafood we had in a long time! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I should have read the reviews BEFORE I went to the restaurant! We ordered the all you can eat buffet which included crab legs for close to $30.00. We were seated down a flight of stairs from the buffet; had to climb stairs to get anything. Waitress took a long time to take our order then bring our plates for the buffett. Approached by the manager and he asked if everything was great. I said no, we didn't get our butter yet that we had asked for 10 minutes earlier. Legs were cold by the time butter came. Went for more legs and waited 15 minutes at the buffett for crab legs. Manager walked past and said "Oh, you waitng for crab legs?!" and kept walking. Drinks never refilled. Had to ask other wait staff questions. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! and am passing the bad experience along to all friends and relatives who go to Myrtle.

We chose The Crab House as the place to take our Mother for her 70th birthday while vacationing at Barefoot Resort. We called and asked if we could make a reservation, and we were told that since we had a large party (9 of us) that they would reserve at table for us. When we arrived, there was no table ready, and it took longer to be seated than normal.

That being said, our waiter was fabulous, attentive, and right on the money with everything. He graciously answered any question we had. Our food was hot (except for the bread, which our waiter said they forgot to take out of the freezer, so it was done, but cold inside), and quite tasty.

One of the managers brought my Mother a piece of cheesecake for her birthday at no extra charge, and led us all in singing happy birthday to her.

This was not the best meal I had in Myrtle Beach, but I would return.

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for years, and have eaten at some really wonderful seafood restaurants. This was the first time we gave the Crab House a try. It was $110 for my husband and I, my 11 year old son, and 4 year old daughter. I wouldn't mind paying more if the quality of food was there. The seafood had a VERY STRONG fishy smell. The crab legs had a terrible color and were completely dried out. The buffet (which was $29 per person) was never replenished while we were there. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the crab dip is good. That is about it. WAY TOO OVER PRICED and should be called "THE CRAP HOUSE."

Horrible experience! In fact, we left after being seated without even placing an order. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME. When we arrived, there was not a large crowd at all. However, 5 of us waited in the bar for roughly an hour after being told we would be seated inside and not on the patio once our name was called (bear in mind it was about 90 degrees outside). After having to practically beg for our drinks along with several other patrons (there were only 2 bartenders present who were not only working the bar but the eating area adjacent to the bar...they also told the manager that they didn't need any help when he offered to assist them), our name was called and we were told that it would be "much faster" if we ate on the patio. We agreed after being assured that it was cool and "shaded" in addition to having ceiling fans on the patio. We were escorted to the patio only to discover that the sun was beating down on the table and the ceiling fan was going only 1/3 of its' top speed. Ok, we were still trying to be good sports. When the waiter approached our table, we discovered that he spoke quietly in broken English and was clearly puzzled when I asked him to increase the speed of the ceiling fan (we were already hot and sweating 5 minutes after being seated). At this point, we decided to cut our losses and left the table, having lost probably an hour and a half of our lives and having had absolutely nothing to eat. I'm sure that there are tons of people who have had great experiences at this place; however, we certainly aren't included in this group. In hindsight, it seems that because there are so many tourists dying to eat at a seafood buffet at Barefoot Landing, Myrtle Beach, Crab House management can afford to have people walk out in disgust.

Food here was not great....and a bit pricey for the quantity & quality...the place was empty at lunchtime yet it took excessively long to get the food....other diners there actually got up & walked around to find a waiter...restrooms were old & dirty with no toilet paper anywhere to be found...won't go there again.

We decided to eat here as our romantic night out while we were on vacation and the food was wonderful. However, after dinner when we arrived at our room we both felt very sick on our stomachs. I do not attribute this to food poisoning but rather that this food is very rich and we're just not used to it.

We went to Crab House for lunch earlier this week. The lady at the front who seated us was very nice and pleasant to our 24 months old son. My husband and I chose to have salad and seafood buffet for $18.95/ person and decided that our son will eat with us since, he usually doesn't eat much for lunch and we didn't want to finish his food since we would have plenty from the buffet. However we didn't know that (perhaps) he wasn't expected to eat off our plates, because the waiter asked what could he get for our son. We said we would see if he wanted to eat more. Anyhow, he left and after quite some time, I decided to get the food. I didn't find any plates near the buffet so I asked an employee behind the seafood bar where I could get the plate. She sort of snorted at me and rudely answered that I should have got the plates from the waiter. How would I know, i've never visited such place where the plates are not placed near the buffet bar. So I came back upstairs and waited for the waiter. After a while, the waiter came and gave us a couple plates. However I noticed that our plates were not the same as other buffet customers' plates. Ours were more like kiddie plates. No kidding! just because we didn't order food for our son (who by the way only ate a couple slices of olive and two flakes of fish and then drifted off to sleep), he gave us kiddie plates? needless to say, we will not go back to this place. Ps: overall, the food was good, but the crab legs were awful.

Tables had not been cleared when we arrived and were still dirty when we left. Average quality and very high price for food served (after long wait - there were only 2 other people in the seating area when we arrived). Salad bar had not been replenished and no one seemed to know what the 'new' dressing was??? Four people came to look but no one seemd to know - including who we assumed to be the manager! We won't be going back!

We have been going to the Crab House since it first opened at Barefoot Landing and this visit will be our last. The King crab legs were good, but how can you ruin good crab legs? The most disappointing things were the "regular" favorites that no longer exist. Example: always before their new england clam chowder has been the best I have ever eaten Not this time, it tasted like a very poor imitation of a soup concentrate. And their ceasar salad has always been consistantly good, not anymore. Too much soggy dressing and poor quality of lettuce. For the prices charged and the quality of food, find another place for crab legs. So sad, I'm guessing that management has cut the quality to increase the profitability. Losing customers won't help with profits.

We chose to visit during lunch and dodge the huge night crowd. What a great choice because our waiter was not bombarded with guests, we were able to take advantage of comfortable porch seating to enjoy the view and the prices were very reasonable while the portions were still bountiful. We plan to return and enjoy lunch here each time we visit the area. Our waiter was very friendly. Though we didn't pick the salad bar, it was so fresh and appealing. The seafood platter (fried scallops, shrimp and fish) was to die for and the crab cake sandwich, out of the ballpark. Great experience. We shared a variety appetizer of coconut shrimp, crab dip and calamari. The items were unmatched of any other appetizer we had this weekend. Dinner prices are much higher, so take advantage of great lunch prices and enjoy a less crowded environment!

We took our family of 6 (which included 1 child) to the restaurant on a very busy day, but were able to be seated quickly because we were flexible as to seating. Overall the food was a bit overly expensive for what we got...especially the SHRIMP COCTAIL....$9.99 for 5...yes I said 5 shrimp (not overly large either) on a dinner plate with two teaspoons of coctail sauce and a bunch of unedible green stuff scattered about. The salad bar, even with a high-dollar entree, was $5.95 and was no better than one down the road at Quincy's. The other review about the broccoli was right on...raw, plastic, abnormally green, and covered with garlic and slimy butter in an attempt to mask the weirdness. My advice is to find somewhere else to eat while vacationing here... I know we will never return.

Restaurant d'ecor very pleasant. Appetizers were wonderful. Stuffed flounder had an over bearing fish taste. Mentioned to waiter, laughed it off as flounder is fish?? After meal, asked if he could substitute something else if not happy. (note: after the meal) Nothing was done. Broccoli had the apearance of being over cooked (very dark) yet was almost raw and tasteless. Again, waiter mentioned he would inquire about this but nothing more was said - it to was ignored. Sea bass and crab cakes were very good. Rice was so gooey no one touched it after the first taste.

6 people - @ $300 with drinks.

The Crab house needs to do better. Many restaurants in area with wonderful menues.

Overall the service was average. The restaurant was not crowded yet it took a long time for the entrees to arrive. The waiter was not friendly. The pros: Despite that my husband and I had to wait an extended period of time for our food, my kids recieved their meal within 5 minutes of ordering. The food was excellent, and the price was in line with the quality of food. Kids eat free on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Order from their summer menu the prices are cheaper. The restaurant was also clean.

We had a great time with pretty good service at the Crab House. Much better than some similar restaurants around the area. The prices were pretty in line with the type of food and service you are receiving. I would definately eat here again and plan to when we return in August!
