My parents told us about Crab Catchers years ago & we have been going ever since! The food is wonderful! No matter what you order it is good! My husband & I usually share the large seafood platter (grouper, fish, shrimp, crab cake, etc.) and it is enough for both of us. One daughter always orders Grouper & the other orders Crab Cakes...they are all delicious! Our son usually gets shrimp or the platter. Would recommed anything on the menu! The service is very pleasant. We go there all of the time!!!! The view on the waterfront is so pretty...make sure you sit outside!

This is the best place to experience SC seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. This is a place frequented by locals for good reason. Our family particularly love the laid-back feel of the place, especially when we get an outside table right by the river. The fried shrimp is the best (very lightly breaded) and the deviled crab is the best we have ever had. Very reasonably priced!

We went to Crab Catchers to celebrate my dad's birthday while on vacation this year. On the way into the restaurant my mother stepped on a rusty nail, when we asked for a first aid kit all they could provide was a moist towelette. There was no hostess at the door to greet us, but rather a sign saying to go to the bar to request a table. We waited for about an hour and a half to get a table, the whole time we waited we could see several empty tables that just needed to be cleaned off. We finally got to sit down after the waitress "cleaned" the table, she left the table wet with crumbs all over it. The waitress disappeared after seating us, she finally returned about 20 minutes to take our order. After ordering we waited for over an hour to get our food. I ordered the Haddock sandwich which was not very good at all, it consisted of only a piece of fish on a hamburger bun, the fish had hardly any breading and was tasteless. My husband ordered the shrimp sandwich....also tasteless. My parents both ordered the fried shrimp, it was dry, tasteless, and had hardly any breading. Food was horrible, service was terrible, and the atmosphere was awful. I wouldn't reccomend this restaurant to anybody. Long John Silvers is better than Crabcatchers on the Waterfront.

We hace been coming to this restaurant for years and it is our favorite place to eat. We eat here every day we're there . The scallops and fried corn is out of this world good and we have always received good service and never been disatisfied. We also buy and wear their tee shirts and wear them proudly, Midfland, N.C.

We ( 3 golfers from Quebec) have been going to Crab Catchers for the last few years and have always been received with open arms. So much so that we feel at home just walking in the door. The food is excellent, the service fast and always with a smile. We are on our way in 3 weeks and are looking forward to our first visit to this special place.

For the record, I have been employed at Crabcatcher's since 1992. In that time, we've had several employees, and still have them with us. We also have a staff, none of whom have been with us any less than a year. It would be very hard to keep us here at slaves' wages and if we were treated badly. In fact one of the 'new' owners has been managing the place for several years already, the other two have been owners since the beginning. Nothing on the menu is anywhere close to $30, and if the person writing that review can find fish for $.20 I urge him or her to call us and let us know where to find it. Not to mention people are free to watch us cut our 'frozen' fish whole on the docks every morning. It's clear that the person who wrote this article is not only ignorant but misinformed entirely. You're entitled to an opinion about a restaurant, but a former employee or their associate attempting to ruin it's reputation by writing clearly refutable statements on a website is infantile, vengeful and cowardly.

I have been employed at Crabcatchers since 1999. We have several employees who have been with us five years or more and the rest have been with us between one and four years, you don't get loyalty like that by treating your employees horribly and I don't think they'd stay there for the slave wages. I'd also like to address the issue of the alleged $30 menu item, because there isn't anything on the menu near that price, as for fish for $.20, I would like them to contact me and tell me where we can buy fish for $.20. It is clear that the person who wrote this is ignorant to the actual running of the establishment and clearly misinformed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about a restaurant, but a gross, anonymous attempt to ruin it's reputation based on false claims on an Internet blog is unjustified, childish and cowardly.

The new owners treat and pay their employees like slave labor and they charge $30 for frozen fish they paid 20 cents for... Overall, this place has gone so far downhill in the past few years, if it were a jogging path, we'd all be tumbling downward from the steep decline…

We almost changed our minds after reading some bad reviews, but thank the heavens we decided to risk it! This place is WONDERFUL! Rustic atmosphere & fabulous food. We went early, around 4:30, and were seated immediately on the deck (our request) overlooking the intercoastal. We had the shrimp and crab dips with fresh-made tortilla chips as our appetizer & they were delicious. My husband had the fried oysters and said they were the best he's had in many many years. They oysters were huge, and served in abundance. He couldn't finish them all! I ordered the "create your own" plate with shrimp and scallops, with a deviled crab on the side. Very lightly breaded and cooked to perfection, nothing was overdone, and again the portion was too big to finish. If you don't want fried, they will happily grill for you, just let them know. And don't skip the deep fried corn on the cob! Best corn on the cob I've ever had! We will definitely be back, and for more than just one visit on our next trip to Myrtle Beach!

A favorite place to visit while at the beach...freshest fish you will find! Fries are great - but expect a little grease, after all they are fries! Nice, light batter on shrimp and the atmosphere makes you know you are at the beach and not some "chain" restaurant that could be anywhere! Try their homemade coconut cream pie...

While on a trip from Myrtle Beach to Carolina Beach, we were disappointed to find out that our restaurant of choice was closed. We decided to ride to Little River to see if we could find another seafood restaurant. When we pulled into the parking lot of Crab Catchers, I was kind of skeptical and very hungry. We were seated immediately. When the hushpuppies and crab dip were served we knew we were in for a treat! Our grandparents were able to share a seafood platter. They thoroughly enjoyed every bite! I had the crab cake sandwich and home fries with malt vinegar...with a side of FRIED corn on the cob. It was FABULOUS! My husband had the soft shell crab sandwich. He wouldn't even share a bite! We completely enjoyed this experience and we can't wait to return to Crab Catchers!

This place was absolutely not worth the money! $5.99 for a kids corn dog and fries? The only things that were somewhat reasonably priced were the daily specials but don't get your hopes up for anything great on the specials menu... choice of haddock sandwich, hamburger, or shrimp sandwich with fries for $5.99. I had the haddock sandwich but I might as well gone to McDonalds for their fish fillet sandwich. I wanted to get the soft shell crab sandwich but didn't want to pay close to $14 for a sandwich and fries. All of the other seafood options are way over-priced so the rest of my table ordered chicken... we should've just gone to Chick-Fil-A! The service sucked. None of us were offered a refill when we ran out of drinks. All in all I give this place a 1 out of 10. Don't waste your time or money!

I was recently in town visiting family and we heard from the hotel about this restaurant. We were warned about the wait and that the food sometimes took up to an hour to arrive. We decided to try it on a Monday to avoid the crowds. There was a little bit of a wait so we decided to eat at the Tiki Bar. The atmosphere was very laid back and the food did take a little longer than most places but was definitly worth the wait. We had oysters the size of your hand and ordered a Seafood Platter. It was big enough for the 2 of us with food left over. The food was excellent and the service was great even when they got super busy the bartender, Kat, was attentive and introduced everyone at the bar to us. We felt like regulars by the time we left. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town! Great food, Great Service, and Great Atmosphere!

It was pretty crowded, which is a criteria for me when going to a restaurant for the first time. The food was good, but some of it was a little greasier that I would have wanted. I traveled with 2 teenagers and my husband all of who have no problem ordering more food than they will possibly eat. So that means I get to try everything they don't finish. I suggest the calamari as it was probably the best thing we ordered. It's on the water, but our seats weren't the best as again it was pretty busy and we were hungry and didn't want to wait for a better table. I would definitely go there again.

Good restaurant, but don't park anywhere except marked spaces. I parked in a vacant lot and had my car towed, which cost me $190 plus a cab ride to get my car back. There as a very small sign 20-30 yds. from where I parked indicating it was a tow away zone. Talking to some locals this happens all the time. I'll make sure to tell everyone I know to stay away from Little River.

Visited this amazing eatery on may 13, 2010. I had the crawfish for appetizer & my friend had the oysters on the half shell. Both were excellecent. Soft shell crab sandwiches & fries followed. My first soft shell crab sandwich and it was totally beyond my expectations. I could probably eat about 3 more, without the roll of course, but I did not want to look like a glutton. While we were enjoing our meal on the deck outside, we viewed jet skiers, all sizes of boats & a boat that had 3 men fishing anchored right where we could watch. The most amazing happening tho, was watching a gentlemen filleting the fresh caught fish of the day. He had the fish done in no time flat. It was very intersting to watch. I enjoyed watching the all the waitresses bring out orders so I could see the different menu items. What enticing foods I saw. The king crab legs were huge, the gumbo was mouth watering, and everything else I saw was just as yummy looking. All the waitresses, ours was tasha, I think, were genuinely pleasant & friendly. She also was very knowledgeable about the foods on the menu & answered our questions we had about certain foods. I must say the other waitress was also very friendly & funny with her customers. After our meal, my friend was curious about how the grouper tasted, since he never had it before.he asked for it outside the bun :) and oh my gosh, it was so good. Not strong or fishy.(i'm looking forward to cooking with it in future). I would also like to add that it became windy & the staff was told to lower the umbrellas, but a customer at the next table put up such a fuss. A gentleman who was working inside then came out & explained the reason for taking down, & still the customer refused to let them do it. The gentlemen told him they cost alot of money if damaged & the customer said he did not care he would pay for it. No one else at any of the other tables had a problem with them coming down. The gentlemen left it up but said if anythiing happened the customer would be responsible. I was very impressed with the way the situation was handled so professionally. Kudos to the staff! great staff, great atmosphere, great location, great menu selections, great scenery and fantastic food! this a must place to eat if you are ever in little river. I am so glad my friend bought a condo in myrtle beach, now when I visit, I will be able to come back to crab catchers and try more items on their menu.(wanted to try the deep fried corn but too full, I sure will the next time) crab catchers you are the #1 seafood place to eat in my opinion. God bless all of you and may you have years and years of continued sucess..

We visited Crab Catchers on the recommendation of one of the bartenders at the Sands Beach Club bar. The atmosphere was great, & we were treated to an excellent experience having "Trigger Fish", a local catch for the very first time. The wait was a bit long, & we were seated outside, atop the building, due to the crowded nature of the restaurant. Our experience was very good, & we plan to return there again this year.

The prices have been increased to an unreasonable level for the quality of the food and the type of restaurant. They were rather busy but the service was still okay. The food quality was very, very bad.

We are from New Jersey and visit the Myrtle Beach area at least once a year. Every year Crab Catchers is the first restaurant we go to. (It's also usually the last before we leave, plus maybe another visit in between. It's that good). For those that complain about waiting for a table - umm, isn't that a sign that the food is good since many people want to eat there? For those that complain about waiting for the food - this isn't some fast food drive-thru...they prepare the catch of the day right by the dock and quite frankly, good food takes time. So get there early enough, snag a table outside & be patient as you watch the boaters on the waterway and enjoy a great meal. You can have the fish fried or grilled (my preference). I've had mahi mahi, sea bass & trigger fish there - all were excellent. Even my 10 year old in the midlle of her "I'm not eating that" phase has asked to get Crab Catchers sea bass! Be sure to ask for the honey butter to go with your hushpuppies! P.S. I made my family risk hurricane-force winds to get a piece of pie!

Terrible experience. The place was grungy and dirty. My kids found bugs all in their drinks. When we confronted the waiter, he ignored them. Finally they brought new drinks, which still had bugs in them. Food tasted like it was frozen and reheated. There was many health hazards around. People were smoking everywhere, and my kids were coughing and could not enjoy the meal. Never go there.

I'm from NC and we've been visiting Myrtle Beach over the past three years and each time we asked for great "simple" seafood, you know fried shrimp, oysters and fish, we were given a restaurant that was overpriced and simply not very good. This year we were told by our concierge that there was a place that was just what we were looking for. We had visited some of the local buffets and you get what you get. Tourist food. You know gobs and gobs of "average" food that you can gorge yourself on. I want to say that the food here was excellent! The shrimp and fish are fresh and it's prepared just right - lightly battered and fried golden brown. If you want "a lot" of food, I recommend the Seafood Platter..a bunch of food that will make you forget the All You Can Eat places..it will be "all you can eat". So if you're contemplating..just stop and make the drive to Little River and enjoy yourself. You won't regret it.

I was very disappointed with Crab Catchers. Several of my friends had recommended it. The wait for a table was average for the time of day I was there. However, the wait to get a server to come to the table and then the 50-minute wait for our food to arrive after we ordered was unacceptable. A table of 16 that was seated after us got their food before our table of 3. Their server was more on the ball. Our server seemed to go out of her way to avoid making eye contact with us. When paying the bill, we complained to the manager and she said "That's normal" when we voiced our complaints about the service. And for the price, we could have gone to a restaurant with a much nicer atmosphere. I like dives, but I don't expect to pay premium prices for sub-par food. The food was overdone and the hush puppies were inedible. If you want to hang out on a dock and drink, this may be your place. Maybe the drinks come to the table faster than the food. My recommendation is to find another restaurant -- there are lots of choices and Crab Catchers is the worst I've found in my 10 years living in this area.

The quality and the level of service provided are borderline 2 stars. The scallops, the soft crab shell and the shrimp and the fried oysters were AMAZING. I don't like calamari, but it was really good - for calamari. The rest of the food was really below average. The chicken tenders, the crab cakes had WAY TOO MUCH BREADING. The grouper was dry and again, too much breading. The fries were so oily and greasy. The wait time was ridiculous - not so much the waiter's fault, more the kitchen's fault. The other reviewer was right. Find a waitress and grab a table. The atmosphere is great for a crab shack feel and very kid-friendly. I would go again but only get the scallops, the oysters and go earlier than 6:30 when the kitchen won't take 1 hour and 30 minutes to get out two platters that taste like they've sitting awhile.

I've visited this place over 10 times in only visiting NMB 4 times!! I love the food it is excellent and the drinks are great!! I love the servers they are like family to me, they don't just throw your food on the table and say here eat it! They also get you seated in an excellent amount of time! The great thing is that you have a perfect view of the water and great food to eat while you watch huge boats pass by! The atmosphere is great for families and it is not very noisy! Over all Crab Catchers is like a 2nd home to me!

This place is the real deal if you are a seafood fan. The shrimp..fried, steamed or buffallo are great!!!! The catch of the day is as fresh as it gets!!! The servings are a little measured, but fair for the price. This isn't an ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEG PLACE. The bad stuff is, the parking and the wait at dinner time. The unexpected treat was live music while we had our meal. The outside deck is a little small but, hey it allows everybody to have a clear view of the boats coming and going on the waterway. The price for food and drinks was excellent!!!!!

The ambiance cannot be more nautical. Very rustic. We were seated at the Tiki bar on a pier over the river. I strongly recommend that you visit when the weather is nice and eat outside at the tiki bar. They have a inside dining room - but it does not have near the ambiance. The food was excellent! I had fried oysters which were the best I have had. The oyters could not be fresher and they were large. My girlfriend had the fried shrimp, which she also thoroughly enjoyed. They were a nice size and very fresh. Neither dish was overtaken by too much breading - a commom mistake at many restuarants. The staff was very friendly and the service was adequate. Price was quite reasonable. The only negative is that on a Saturday nght parking is rather tight. I highly recommend this restuarant. A definite return.

We went there for lunch on a Tuesday. The waiter was excellent in helping us get seated upstairs. The food was average at best. A large hot dog and a tiny crab cake in a hamburger bun were both unappealing and they took an hour to prepare. Yeah the waterway is beautiful, but the deck is run down looking. I don't get all the wonderful reviews.

We've just returned from a trip to Sunset Beach. I went to Crab Catchers for my birthday on 6/25/09 with two friends. We had a fabulous experience! We loved the bar waitress (who ran her butt off, by the way) who even found time at the end of the evening to give us the recipe for Long Island Iced Tea - yummy. Get the buffalo shrimp for an appetizer - absolutely delicious. I had blackened mahi mahi which was good, but my friends had fried shrimp and scallops, and loved them. Not greasy fried, but instead light and a little bit crispyl This is a no frills place with a family atmosphere. Don't go if you want to be pampered or are in a hurry, but do go if you want an authentic seafood waterside experience. Oh, and by the way, if it's your birthday, you get your age % discounted from your meal. I'm hoping I make it to 100!

We had dinner at Crab Catchers on 06/24/09. We were cordially greeted and offered a place virtually any where as we were early and this was our first and only time we will go to Crab Catchers. We placed our order and waited over 30 minutes for hush puppies that we ordered early for the two children in our party. When our food finally came (one hour later and remember we were early) it was greasy (swimming in cold fat) cold and presented by throwing it at us. In addition we did not get all we asked for and had other food on our tray for another party. My husband was given the wrong dinner. Our waitress brought it back and then just presented the sandwich order as a full dinner order. Cleanliness was not a priority here either. This is the worst restaurant that we ever went to.

Our favorite place! My husband and I are regulars to the Myrtle Beach area as well as Crab Catchers. We love to travel, and have experienced many restaurants, but this by far is our favorite! We love it so much, we had a large order of the deep fried corn served at our wedding. If you want to visit an amazing, true "beachy" seafood restaurant- this is it! You will feel right at home and LOVE the food. Crab Catchers, see you next Saturday...

It is one of my first stops after unpacking and wanting a good meal. The deep fried corn is to die for! I never had it until I came to Crab Catchers. Sitting outside is awsome. The wait time for your food is a little much but I think it is because they are always tremendously busy. The wait staff is average at best. But that is not enough to ruin a great meal and time with family and friends. You will enjoy this place.

We went on a Tuesday night (afternoon) and had no problem getting in and seated. This place is not on the main drag and you will have to look for this one, which is what I like. Very laid back atmosphere here. Shorts and sandals and a T-shirt and you'll fit right in. Love the location on the waterway and watching the boats go by as we ate. The food is less expensive than what you would pay at many restaurants on hwy 17. Good food, cold beer, laid back place and great location. Try it and you will not be disappointed

We made it a priority this trip and it was a delight. The food was excellent, we absolutely loved the atmosphere. It was a beautiful evening and we were seated outside on the patio on the water, our waiter was the best. It was crowded and yes we had a wait to be seated, but it was very much worth it. We will definately be back to Crab Catcher's.

Horrible Experience! I went Crab Catchers for a meal with 15 other friends. They ended up seating us at two tables back to back as they couldn't move the tables-understandable. The food was very average for part of our group and BAD for the other part. We had two tables (1 drinking alcohol and most of the other was not drinking) They clearly delayed the food of the drinking table so we would buy more beer and wine. 1/2 of our party had to wait 25 minutes on us to get our rushed food and eat it. Most of the seafood was below average and this ruined the entire evening. The waiter acted like we were at fault for all coming to the restaurant at the same time and didn't apologize at all for their error. There are plenty of other restaurants which I'm sure offer better service, better value, and better food in that vicinity. BEWARE!

My parents have had a vacation home at North Myrtle Beach since 1992. We have always enjoyed coming down to experience great seafood that is fresh. But as the years have past the choices have become slim to none for fresh seafood. So in 2004 when my boyfriend and I were told about Crab Catchers we decided to give it a chance. It was wonderful! The conch fritters are to die for and I am in love with the crab cakes. His favorite is the grouper sandwhich. We have been regular customers for the past 5 years and have even driven down in the winter for one night just because we were craving the Crab Catchers seabass. Everyone that works there has always been very pleasant and now they treat us like family. My favorite time is in the summer when we can sit out on the waterfront, drink a beer, eat great food and relax. For those that say you have to wait to long to be seated....well you should be more patient while you're on vacation. So, Crab Catchers...I will see you in a few weeks!

OMG!!! Crab Catchers has possibly the best seafood (if not ALL food) I have ever eaten!!! Anytime I visit the coast I always look for a good, authentic seafood place to find fresh fish and shrimp, and Crab Catchers was my pick when visiting Myrtle Beach this time. Let me tell ya, it was more than worth the 24 mile drive from MB to get there. The food was great, the service was very fast and friendly (visited mid-week and was seated immediately!!). Only service complaint I would have is our drinks were never refilled, but everything else was so great we could easily overlook this flaw. If you are looking for frills, this is not the place for you, but if you want a clean place to eat great food, it's perfect. The prices are very reasonable and the portions very generous. Have marked this down as a "must go" whenever we return to the area (which may be sooner than later if I start craving that sea bass :-) !!!!) Would highly recommend to anyone who loves fresh seafood as much as I do!!!!

I should begin by saying that i'm writing this review on behalf of 5 other people, and we all agree on the comments made below. Vacationing from northern indiana, we are staying in north myrtle beach. Our neighbors (locals) suggested crab catchers (cc) to us when asked where we could get the freshest seafood. Despite being off the beaten path, cc was everything we were looking for in a great meal and experience. There was quite a wait to get a table, but it came as no surprise because the place was busy! my group enjoyed a few cocktails and waited out on the deck, enjoying a beautiful evening. Once seated, the waitress was very upfront about the fact it would be 30-45 minutes before our food would arrive. We were there to socialize and have a great time, so we didn't mind. The waitress was awesome about keeping cold drinks flowing to the table. She was an excellent all-around server, with all orders being correct, drinks always full, courteous and professional; couldn't have been happier with the service. Being from indiana I don't claim to be any kind of seafood expert though, I do a lot of hunting and fishing back home. I can appreciate fresh fish, and let me say that anyone at my table who had fish on their plates received the freshest, flakiest fish we could have asked for. The bay scallops were a fabulous addition to my entree, and at only $6 to add them on. They gave me an excellent portion (approx. 8 scallops), and they were cooked perfectly. As a whole, our table ordered fish, devil crab (awesome), crab cakes (excellent), shrimp, we all had the fried corn (awesome), and hushpuppies. Everything was excellent. We felt like the prices were fair, especially for the freshness. We had a great time, and would highly suggest making this a stop on your culinary path!.

This place is the best! I lived in south carolina for five years, and now every time I come down to visit, I have to eat here. The deep fried corn is probably one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. The seafood is fresh, and I love the atmosphere. This restaurant has more character than most five star restaurants I have been to. The southern hospitality shines through, and I am never disappointed. We are three month "snowbirds." We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for 6 years, but with the variety of restaurants, this was our first visit to Crab Catchers. One of the "locals" recommended it. What a great find. Our party of three had the crab cake platter, the grilled shrimp dinner and the fresh catch dinner of sea bass. All were excellent. The deep fried corn on the cob was unique and delicious. The hostess and waitress were friendly and helpful. This may have been our first visit, but definitely not our last.

Our hotel clerk suggested Crab Catchers to us when we asked about a good resturant close by. It was an excellent recommendation! Our meals included the fish "catch of the day" fried and served as tasty nuggets; Fresh boiled and grilled shrimp both cooked to perfection and seasoned just right; Steamed blue crabs that were fresh tasty and well portioned for the money. The deep fried corn was a superb side dish. We arrived at about 5:00pm on Saturday and our party of four (4) was immediately seated. The waitress was friendly and informative, service was excellent but we could tell they were getting busier and a "wait for seating" list had started just after we arrived. Parking was no promblem for us but I suspect it could be challenging if you arrive later. We plan on retuning everytime we are in the area and I hope the atmosphere never changes!

We had dinner there last Tuesday with our children, and enjoyed it very much. Surprisingly, it wasn't crowded at 5pm on a Tuesday in July. There were a few people at the outdoor bar who had just come in off their boat. A few tables inside and a few outside were occupied. We sat out on the deck, and my wife had the "catch of the day" as a sandwich and I had grilled shrimp. We both had the deep fried corn, slaw, and hushpuppies, and beer to drink Our 14 year old son had a chicken sandwich, and our 8 year old daughter had a burger. All of our meals were very good. In fact, this was probably the best meal we had on vacation this year. I would recommend Crab Catchers to anyone.

After four months of living in Little River, the locals we have met, all have mentioned Crab Catchers. As my wife and I are Catastrophic Insurance Adjusters, we have had the pleasure of dining in restaurants all over the great USA. Our March 23rd trip to Crab Catchers at 7:00pm was well worth our time. We met wonderful locals inside that recommended a few dishes. Seating was average, though quicker than expected. My wife had the grilled shrimp, stuffed devil crab, baked potato, hush puppies and cole slaw. I had the trigger fish, stuffed devil crab, deep fried corn on the cob, french fries and cole slaw, and nice locals next to us gave us a wonderful piece of Birthday cake. Compliments you could hear from us throughout the meal. She stated it was the best grilled shrimp she has ever had. For me, EVERYTHING was excellent. Quality was Excellent.Servers were Excellent. I advised them they needed to be making a million dollars a year! They were hard working and pleasant, smiling throughout the pace they carried. A American salute to the owners Son, who when seeing my Army shirt, asked if I had served, and when I responded with a Yes, he thanked me for my service. That is respect you rarely find anymore. Hats off to this entire establishment. If your looking for Good Food, Friendly Service and a good time, look no further than Crab Catchers!

It was some of the best fried seafood I've had in this area (way overpriced) because it wasn't greasy like most other places. I did bite into a large piece of oyster shell and some of the fried shrimp still had shell pieces on them. My big gripe is the staff. OK, the place is crowded but the staff gave us and especially my kids a hard time for being in the way while we were waiting for our table, which was a good 45 minutes. After we were seated, it was another 45 min before our food came. Overall, decent food but have a thick skin dealing with the stressed out staff.

The last of its kind! Don't miss it. I'm here 40 yrs and I've seen so many of the truly 'local' places vanish to "progress" that it sickens me. This is real, true-blue southern seafood eating with the old-timey trimmings. Yeah,it's run by a damn Yankee but he didn't change any of the old ways. No Chinese farm raised, genetically altered shrimp,no Chilean sea bass that Chileans toss away as junk fish. This is REAL seafood. The drinks are fabulous, prepared by my doll Justine the bartender who should be paid twice what she is. You may have to wait....but what the hell...you're on vacation, righht? Why are you wearing a watch? What are you doing with a cell phone? Are you nuts? Watch the boats, gaze at the stars, listen to the music, close your eyes, this is paradise! It don't get no better than this...try it..you'll like it.

My wife and I are from Myrtle Beach and friends of ours took us here one night. We both ordered the oyster sandwitch and I have to say it was so full of oysters I had a hard time fiting it in my mouth and finishing it all. I have to say it was one of the best if not the best oyster sandwitch I have had,and the price was reasonable also.We will be going back soon.

Being from Maryland my husband and I like to have blue crabs when we are on vacation. What we found at Crab Catchers was much more than just crabs. The autmosphere was outstanding. Much better than the inside of alot of resturants noted for crabs at Ocean City. This being our first trip to Myrtle Beach we feel so lucky to have come upon this spot. We had an average wait with someone letting us know our table would be ready soon. The outdoor dining is right on a river. The crabs were very fresh and a good size. The service was outstanding. We will be going back to Myrtle beach this year and the Crab Catchers will be one of the highlights of our trip.

My boss recommended Crab Catchers when he heard we were vacationing in Myrtle Beach. We are so glad that he did! The waitress (Teresa) was so sweet, friendly and on the ball! My husband had the grouper sandwich with a special cheesy sauce. I had the fish of the day sandwich. We had to try the fried corn, coleslaw and hushpuppies. We each sampled everything and liked it all!! Everything was fresh, delicious and served hot. It's not a place you would find by just driving by, but is just off the main streets so it is well worth searching out. This will definately be a regular dining stop every time we are in Myrtle Beach!!

We are so disappointed with this place. Either they have a new owner or management or cook because the difference in the food and service since we ate there 3 months ago is unbelievable: One hour before the food came; the place was nasty; both of our orders were wrong; the food was terrible; and the waitress must be a flim-flam artist. We will NEVER go there again!!

Very disappointed. Wait staff had a snobby attitude toward our party, possibly because we were all young and not White. We booked tables a week and half in advance for a group 15 for a going away dinner for a friend. Upon arrival waiter pulled our host aside and asked us how we expected to pay for dinner, despite that we were all impeccably dressed, as most of us are young professionals. Our tables were also not ready as were going to split apart the group despite our previous reservation and ended up being seated in a backroom of sorts. Upon arrival no one came to help or direct me to my party and I was forced to wonder around the restaurant despite literally bumping into several wait staff who paid me no attention. Food quality was below average and expected much more for an upscale restaurant. Furniture, dishes, and glasses were not of the quality I would expect from this sort of restaurant. Expected much more and just throughly disappointed and wished we went to George's instead for friend's going away party.

We bought a lot at Brunswick Plantation 3 years ago and our selling agent recommended Crab Catchers - we went - we go back every time we're there. We have a home at Brunswick now although we still commute. We love the atmosphere at Crab Catchers - particulary on the deck - it's such a delightful change from Northern Virginia\DC atmosphere. We can take our yuppie friends and/or red-neck friends to Crab Catchers and everyone will be happy. We recently took our 4 kids there (30 yr olds) and they loved it too. If you are expecting a fine-dining experience - go somewhere else, If you want fun, relaxation, good food and meeting wonderful people - go to Crab Catchers. (and girls - they have expanded the ladies" room to a 2-seater!!)

Have been there a few times, eaten there once. Food was average. When visit the waterfront at Little River we drop by to see if things are different or have improved. Have never been able to get a table on the deck where there is a nice view...while all tables inside are empty...every time. Have waited for a deck table for over an hour, more than once. I think that was probably a good thing. While the cook's show is entertaining, it's also very revealing. If you're watching your cholesterol...this is not the place for you. Lots of grease!

July, 2007 Returned to Crab Catcher and we were greeted by the owner Tim, great guy. He remembered us from the year before and was really happy to have us back. Our friend at the bar, Justine is a great person and always makes our visit very enjoyable. Met really nice locals and felt almost like we became locals after a couple of visits. Wahoo is the best fish I have had in Myrtle. Can't wait to return and be greeted like we never left. Will be one of my favorites when we retire there. Carol and Marty of Cincy.

Crab Catchers has become a tradition for our family. We ate there on Wednesday, July 11 and it was delicious as always. Portions are huge and even our picky eaters were pleased. We always throw caution to the winds and order our choices fried (and why not? the scallops taste all the sweeter when encased in breading). The wahu is excellent, crab cakes awesome, grouper sandwich fabulous. The fried corn is one of our favorites! It is true that you should arrive early if you want to be seated promptly, and that while the service is very good, it takes a long time for your food to arrive. We always felt that this was due to the large size of our party (usually 15-20 people) and figured it was a good opportunity to relax, enjoy the view and sip on a drink! The noise level has never been a problem for us since we always sit outdoors. Crab Catchers is proof that if you want to find a good place to eat, ask someone local. Nothing fancy, just honestly good food.

After reading other reviews, my family decided to try Crab Catchers. We were highly disappointed. The atmosphere was excellent, however the food was not worth the money that we spend. All the food was fried. The serving portions were small. We ordered crab cake sandwiches. The crab cake was so small that most of the sandwich was bread. There were four of us and the bill came to $70.00. We can go to an all you can eat place for that price.

Dropped in after reading reviews and looking for good seafood in the Little River area. Sorry we did. Took too long to get seated. Very loud from all the children. Appears to be a locals and family hangout (extremely casual). The restaurant wasn't very clean. Waitress had too many tables to wait. The food was really ok but way overpriced. The fried shrimp was fine but didn't taste fresh. The grouper special was drowning/overwhelmed by the cheese sauce and the actual grouper was tough. We definitely won't be back.

We just returned from vacationing in Myrtle Beach and had dinner at Crab Catchers. We were seated almost immediately and had a very friendly, attentive waitress. We enjoyed a variety of food since we all like different things. Everything we had was all very good; grilled shrimp, breaded/fried shrimp, wahu fish, which I never heard of but was delicious, steak and cheeseburgers. It's an out of the way restaurant, over by the casinos, but well worth the drive to find the place. We'll go back next summer, for sure!

I almost want to rate Crab Catchers really bad so it won't become one of those really crowded places at which everyone wants to eat. My first time there was at the beginning of January '07. When my wife asked me what I wanted to do on a recent visit to MB (June '07), the only thing I could come up with was to go back to Crab Catchers. Its a GREAT restaurant off the beaten path, TERRIFIC atmosphere, TOP DRAWER entertainment, WONDERFUL people working there, and GOOD food to boot. What more could you want?

I was turned on to this place via my brother, it was far better than he described it. The black sea bass is the ultimate in seafood and here it is prepared perfectly. I fell in love with the fried corn and the scallops are huge. I have been back several times for lunch just as well as dinner. The music is live and very laid back. The people are fantastic and they make sure you are taken care of. I buy a T-shirt every visit. A must for all to dine here at least once. Thank You Tim for this seafood experience.
