Review: My husband and I just got back from Myrtle Beach. We were not dissapointed in any of the restaurants we ate at. We had found Coleman's when we were trying to find a place for a boat ride and decided to give it a try. Glad we did! It was early so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was pleasant and the service was fast and good. The Hush Puppies and Sweet tea were very good. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was excellant. My husband had the Calabash Shrimp and enjoyed his meal also. The view was nice and would recommend Coleman's to anyone.

Review: The food, service and atmoshphere were absolutely perfect. The flounder was awesome as always. We stayed at Holden beach 4 nites and ate 3x's at Coleman's. Regarding the last review, I was also there that night and while I can't comment on some of the observations, I can say that the waitresses DID wear uniforms and our service was outstanding! We've tried all the restaurants at Calabash and Coleman's has them all beat!!

Review: Manager was dining in the dining room at 4:30 PM while lead cook answered his cel phone, TWICE and continuously swung a dirty towel around the open kitchen. Lead cook wore an FBI (female booty inspector) shirt in plain view of the dining room. NO employees wore a uniform or had any professional look to themselves whatsoever.

Food was wildly over-cooked, very over-priced for the value and atmosphere - not appropriate for families. Will be sure to disrecommend to others, but since it's a vacation spot, probably won't affect the business or management's approach to dining.

Oh, and the wet-dripping hands dishwasher carrying stacks of 30 plastic cups with his hand directly touching the rims of the glasses had all of us asking for straws!!!

Review: Just recently came back from a trip to N. Myrtle and was very interested to read up on Calabash style seafood. This site has certainly helped to answer all of my questions. Unfortunately, I really didn't get as much of a chance to sample these foods as I would have liked. Since I had such a great time down there, it will be my intention to visit Coleman's on my next trip to the area. Thanks for the tips!

Review: Every year we come to Myrtle Beach, we make it a point to eat at Coleman's at least twice. My mother-in-law remembers eating here over 60 years ago! The food is excellent, starting with the hushpuppies served with honey butter. Our favorites are the cold boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, and fried oysters, but everything is fresh and delicious. The sweet tea is also some of the best. I would say our service has been outstanding 99% of the time. We have been here so many times, it can be expected to have a poor service occasionally, but I don't lay the blame on the restaurant itself. While we come here for the food, the view of the water is also great. Traditionally after eating, we walk to the pier where the shimping boats dock. Calabash is only a few short miles from North Myrtle Beach. I highly recommend you include a visit to Coleman's in your vacation plans.

Review: Our first visit to Coleman's was rewarding. They fry seafood better than most and the fish was very fresh. The scallops were especially juicy and sweet. Spouse had the broiled seafood platter which was also cooked perfectly.

Review: We just returned from a 4 night trip to Myrtle Beach and ate two times at Coleman's. The Calabash shrimp were perfect, along with the atmosphere and service. They also have the best sweet tea around! We've been to all the restaurants on the waterfront and havn't had a bad experience at any of them. But Coleman's will always be our favorite. Get there early in the summer months to avoid the wait.

Review: Our favorite place to eat in Calabash... We like to go for the lunch specials... You get a complete meal with tea for about 7-8 bucks and it's all you can eat.... Nice view of the water and a friendly wait staff.... Strongly recommend this place!

Review: We have been eating in Calabash for over 25 years and always went to Dockside, Nances, or Captain Johns. My wife and I found ourselves in Calabash without the rest of the family and decided to give Coleman's a try. It was a mistake. The food was not hot, didn't taste fresh, and was a long time in coming. I would definitely recomend Nances or Captain Johns. Must get calabash shrimp if you go!! At Nances ask for their homemade cocktail sauce.

Review: We visit Coleman's 3 or 4 times a year during trips to the NC coast. It is by far the best of all the restaurants in Calabash (and we've tried them all). The service is great and the food even better! You'll never be disappointed with the original! Ask for a sweet tea to go and take a walk down to the docks after your meal....it's a Calabash tradition!

Review: We have been visiting Myrtle Beach every year since I was a small child. We always visit Coleman's 3 times during the week we are there. This is the best seafood I have ever eaten and, I have been raised on seafood all of my life. They heap the seafood up on your platter rather than french fries. I have never had even close to a complaint about anything at this restaurant. I will continue to dine there every time I am visiting Myrtle Beach.

Review: We'd heard about Calabash seafood for years and decided to try it New Years afternoon. We're seafood lovers and know great seafood when we get it. Having read the reviews, we chose Colemans. It's a sad & drab place, long past its prime. The view didn't redeem it as windows were smudged and dirty. Those hush puppies are OK but that "honey butter" is strictly commercial in a little sealed plastic container, one per diner. A ~$5.00~ soft shell crab side dish (one crab) was thick with batter, greasy and way overcooked. The famous Calabash Shrimp (so our server told us) were POPCORN shrimp, like at Popeyes. Those are tiny little things so we ordered the more expensive "Fantail" along with oysters for our combo. The fantail shrimp were small, average taste, overcooked, a bit rubbery, and not fantailed. The oysters were good but a small serving of cole slaw in a styrofoam dish was dull and tasteless. The beer & wine selection is very limited (Bud, Bud Lite, Miller, Miller Lite, no draft beer at all) and my beer was cool, not cold. Our server was very nice, the table next to us wasn't so lucky and they seemed to be very frustrated at their long wait...arriving about when we did they were finally served as we were leaving. The only thing that wasn't average was the price...over $50.00 for 2 before a tip. Your server can't take your money/plastic and you have to stand in line at a cash register to exit. I can't imagine why we'd return there.

Review: THE BEST calabash dining at the beach! This is Myrtle Beach's best kept secret. Seafood is LIGHTLY breaded before it is cooked so you still can taste the great seafood flavor. I highly reccommend the shrimp.

Review: You want *real* Calabash food, heaped up in Calabash style? You want the original restaurant that was so good it made Jimmy Durante make the town a world-wide name? This is it - the home of the late Ella Coleman, the "Mrs Calabash - wherever you are." Well, she was here, and the food and friendly service is still worth telling the world about.
