We were seated right away but that could be due to the place being empty. The hushpuppies were deformed and greasy. My wife ordered the ribeye medium it came out well done we told the server but never saw the manager. I ordered the grilled chicken it was described as two breast but was one cut in half I think the baked potato was a day old. My youngest son ordered chicken fingers which the kitchen forgot to make he didn't get his food til we were almost done eating. Still we never saw the manager it is safe to say we won't go back.

Unfortunately, Coleman's restaurant seems to be out of business. It has not opened this year (2012) ad according to locals, opened for the last time in the summer of 2011. Too bad; it was one of our favorites! Try Dockside for a good meal.

wish we had read this BEFORE we went there! Only good thing was that after complaining our bill was cut in half. Let's begin: flounder, clams & shrimp: cooked and tasted good. oyster stew (if that's what you want to call it). about 1/4" of butter floating on top, no taste, hardly any oysters, watered down skim milk...even with salt/pepper - no help. scallops: about the size of a 50 cent piece but only 1/4" thick, funny taste, tough. fried oysters: tasted like fried in week old grease. mahi: tough, overcooked, ordered it grilled but still floating in butter. asked about the broiled seafood - slathered in butter - how is that better than fried??? hushpuppies??? I'd be ashamed to call them that, little balls of grease. slaw - no flavor at all, had the core of the cabbage used so it was hot tasting. baked potatoe: 1 was ok, others were not fully cooked and still cold. they "ran out" of potatoes at 7pm but said the oven was broken. server seemed at tad lost at our order. forgot our lemons then only brought 2 back (3 of us used lemons). never asked how we were doing or if we needed refills. overall - horrible food/service. will not be back.

We have dined at this place on two different trips to North Carolina and specifically the second time just for the food at Coleman's. The waitress we had both nights this last time was outstanding. Providing us with great service, wonderful food and a welcoming atmosphere! We can't say enough good things about Colemans and plan to visit on all our trips to Calabash!

After reading the previous reviews wasn't sure about going back to Colemans. Haven't been there in 3 years. But upon arrival, was pleased to see that they had remodeled the entire restaurant. Was seated right away, orders where taken and in no time, had our food, and a lot of it. 3 of us had the small seafood platter, the other had the oyster dinner. Now I'm the first to say, I'm a pretty big guy, but I had trouble finishing all the food on the "small" platter. Everything cooked perfect, great service and great view from the picture windows. Price every reasonable. If you haven't been here in a while, or never been, give them a try. Don't think you will be sorry.

We experenced the worst dining experince ever. To begin with my wife ordered a glass of merlot, another in our party ordered a whiskey sour, and I ordered a VO and ginger ale. The wine had turned to vinegar and we could not identify the other two drinks but they were definitely not what we ordered. Against our better judgement we ordered food but 3 of us deicided against seafood and chose hamburger steak while the 4th selected grouper. The grouper tasted of iodine and nothing was offered with the hamburger steak except a baked potao and garden salad. No gravy or mashed potatos. When finished we waited for our check until we couldn't wait any longer and began unsuccessfully looking for a manager. Finally we were presented with our check and the explanation that it is a seafood restaurant and not much at other cuisine. Worst experience for a Calabash style seafood restaurant ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flounder small for price, scallops were good- but didn't come until 10 minutes after other food.... because server forgot them. We would have told her sooner, but she disappeared. Would have liked some drawn butter to go with dinner, but never saw our server until time for the bill- our scallops were dropped off by different server. Had to ask a bus boy for a to-go box to put them in. Oh yes...let us not forget the "shrimp cocktail"...it lived up to its name finally! It was a small salad dressing cup of salad shrimp for $7. I guess we were nuts thinking it would be the usual jumbo shrimp every other shrimp cocktail in the world is made up of ! They were out of certain flavors of beverages at 6:00 in the evening. We would NEVER go back there!!!! Murrell"s Inlet restaurants far superior. Lee's is one of the best we have tried!

Please save your money. My dad has gotten violently ill from the shrimp here the time before last he went and still will not eat shrimp. Reluctantly, he tried again last summer and it took nearly 10-15 minutes for us to even be acknowledged by the server. The food is typical greasy spoon fried seafood and has never been really good. We fortunatley didn't get sick on our last trip but it will be our last trip for good. WAY too expensive for the quality and service. Go to the LIttle River waterfront instead. Fibbers and Crab Catchers are much better.
