Chuck's Steak House
Rated: 0 out of 5 with 1 Reviews

Chuck's Steak House of Myrtle Beach since 1979 has what we like to call 'rustic elegance'. The open design and historical architecture amazes newcomers and continues to please our regular guests. We feature 14 oz. 'baseball-cut' Certified Angus Beef Super Sirloins, Filet Mignon, NY Strip, and Prime Rib that will amaze you. Chuck's invented the salad bar concept long ago and continues to run it to this day. Our salad bar is strewn with the freshest produce you will find in a restaurant. We have been recently voted Best Happy Hour on the Beach, which runs daily 4 p.m to 7 p.m. Our Happy Hours features an array of premium house liquors and a bar menu that get more popular every single year. Also, we have simply the best burger on the beach. It is 10 oz. of hand cut, ground in-house Certified Angus Beef. We offer an Early Bird menu from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. We also offer a Senior Menu.

Our family of 6 visited family in Myrtle Beach. On Thursday June 30, 2011 we decided to have dinner at Chucks Steakhouse. They have a huge reputation. We often have dinner at their restaurant in Connecticut and love it. Myrtle Beach was a huge dissaster. My 5 year old son ordered their lobster. It arrived, he took a bite and spit it out. Strange. My mother in law and my wife took a bite and they spit it out. The lobster was ROTTEN. We told the waitress and she simply left and did not take the bad food of the table, it simply remained there. Good service. Our steaks were tuff and hard. We again told the waitress. She did not care and simply left. When we got our bill, nothing was done, i.e. the lobster was still on the check. We made a comment and yes the lobster was taken off. Because we were with more than 6 people, the tip is included. Guess what! They had taken the lobster off the bill, but included the lobster to calculate the tip. What a service. While leaving I complained to the manager. I asked him why no one came to appologize for the bad food. His response. Of course we are sorry. I told him, no one came to our table and appologized and the bad lobster remained on our bill and tip was calculated including the bad lobster. He looked at me and said. That sometimes happens. People, Chuck's Steakhouse in Myrtle Beach should be avoided. In fact, I never again will visit any Check's Steackhouse. This experience was so bad that we as a family had enough. I hope the owners of Chuck Steakhouse will do something about the bad food and service in their restaurant in Myrtle Beach. I cannot recommend this place. STAY AWAY. There are "better" places.

Been eating at Chuck's for 11 straight years now during our yearly golf trip to MB and again they never fail to be consistant and serve a great steak. I always go for the NY Strip and it's so tender you can literally cut it with a fork. I highly recommend this restaurant. Well worth the money.

We love going to Chuck's in march and october when we are in NMB. We are a party of 4 adults and sometimes a party of 17 adults. Have always had great service and food and very reasonable prices. Staff are always quickand polite, making sure everything is to our satisfaction. At happy hour time they have great nibblies. Also between mid-oct. and mid-march, they features the best burger ever, also the french onion soup for $2. See you soon .

Seated pleasantly, given menus in a timely fashion. Ordered meat to be medium - it came well done. Told wait person, and she said that all meat is done the same (state law?). Why put it in the menu if all meat is the same. Wait person had to be called over several times to get additional refills and plates cleared. We seemed to be ignored to favor a larger male golf group. Prices were much higher than the quality of the food required. When I asked for a customer comment card, I was told there was none (by the desk person) and then was turned away from. No interest in whether I was satisfied or not. Wouldn't recommend this place (I have been coming to MB for 30 years) and certainly wouldn't come back!!! gmcclary, NY

Always wanted to try Chucks. Tonight was my first and last time. The three of us ordered the 7oz filet. All three steaks were the same. No taste and like rubber. We had 2 oz of meat and 5oz of rubber you could not cut through. The baked potato was hard as a rock. The best part of the meal was the salad and tea and I had to ask for that second glass. Huge price to pay for this horrible meal. Would have rather put my money through a paper shredder than to walk away and fell raped!!!!! PS: When we were leaving the two men at the table beside us asked if the steaks were always this bad. They said it was their first time and the steak was like shoe leather. Not just a bad night, it was bad the last time my friend ate there!!

Although we have heard many good things about Chuck's, we found ourselves disappointed. The steak's were priced relatively high at $26 for a small filet. They ran out of baked potatoes so we had a choice of fries or rice. Then we headed to the salad bar and they were out of ranch dressing. We did finally get two small take out cups of ranch but only after standing at the bar waiting about five minutes! (I had to tell them they were out and still had to wait) So, the food was decent and the service okay but my family of three has decided we will not go back. Very disappointed!

We come to MB every year on vacation and every year we make a point to eat at Chuck's at least once, if not twice during our stay. We had dinner there over Labor Day weekend 2010. Chuck's is one of the best restaurants in Myrtle Beach. We've also been to Chuck's in Hawaii. It's equally as awesome there. It's certainly worth the money.

We had driven past this restaurant plenty of times and finally decided to stop in for dinner. The kids loved the neat atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. We ordered our steaks and were very pleasantly surprised when they came. They were huge and absolutely delicious! We had the "giant" glass of beer to go along with our dinner. Everything about this place was fantastic and we already are planning on returning next year! I highly reccommed this place for a true steak lover!

PS.We are harley riding bikers, really enjoy the MB area however have made it a point NOT TO SPEND ANY MONEY in the City of Myrtle Beach while they try to enforce an illegal helmet law.We chose to spend our money in North Myrtle.

Three hungry golfers who were disappointed ! A 2 out of 10 The most tasteless sirloin steak I have ever tasted. It was barely chewable, even with medium broiling. Would have used steak sauce but that would have spoiled a good sauce. Salad bar was adequate if you are hungry and need bulk. Service was the only redeeming factor of our visit. This place would never last back home. The only bad meal in Myrtle beach all week.

We decided to go for steaks tonight and read various reviews to find a good place. My dad heard that Chuck's was supposed to be outstanding for steaks and after checking reviews on here, we figured this was the place to go. We were seated right away and our server did a great job and she was very friendly. I read the menu and it said "if you've never eaten at Chuck's, we suggest the sirloin." OK, great, sounds good and the signature steak should be the very best...right? Not so! While the service was great and the atmosphere nice as well, all of the steaks at our table were not even close to a decent steaks. My steak, in particular, was tough, tasteless, and I even had to put steak sauce on it! The others in our group had similar comments about their steaks. My mom had the prime rib and she said it was tender and it tasted great (maybe the rest of us ordered the wrong thing). We were very disappointed in our choice for a good steak and we won't be back. I just ate at a steakhouse in Pierre, SD.....the chef should fly himself out there to learn what a good steak is and how to cook it. The steaks at Chuck's don't even come close.

We love Chuck's! We have been coming back every year since 2002, and our families even come with us to go here. The atmosphere is great the food is perfect (love the salad bar) and the whole dinning experience is worth it. I always order the same thing each year, the 14oz center cut sirloin rare and we always use the free french onion soup coupon too. The wait time is minimum at best, you never have to wait long and the service has been great too. If you want a good steak and a family atmosphere then try this place.

We went to Chuck's twice on our recent family vacation - we love it that much! We had a large party (12 of us). The first night we walked right in and the second night we did have to wait (as is to be expected with such a large group). Everything was excellent - some ordered the different seafood specials and some the super sirlion. My husband's family goes to Chuck's every time they are in Myrtle Beach and we will keep on going!

Went to Chuck's last year and walked in at 4pm, We were the first in the door and greeted by super nice folks that really appreciated us being there. The food was excellent and the service was very good. This year we showed up at 4 pm to get the great experience we had last year. Wrong.......... we sat outside from 3:30 to 4pm waiting on the doors to open and while waiting we looked over the menu from the mailbox outside. This placed is all we have talked about for a year with our friends. So imagine our dissapointment when we went in at 4 and were told that they don't seat people until 4:30pm. The place opens at 4 I said. The nice fella at the front desk told me we could have nachos and mixed drinks in the lounge til 4:30. The problem here is that I had my kids with me and we wanted steaks and tea. Not nachos and beer. Apparently something has changed here in a year and not for the better. Chuck's lost our business and our friends business too. You had a great thing in 2008 and ruined it in 2009. I'm sure the food is still great but I wouldn't know since we couldn't be served for 30 minutes after they opened. If you seat folks for dinner at 4:30 then open the doors at 4:30!! This is a shame too because it was the best steak I have ever had at the beach, Dissapointed

Everytime I get to Myrtle Beach I try and make it to Chucks. I was there a few weeks ago and I have to tell you that I was very dissapointed with the service that we had gotten. The Waitress that was waiting on us was very rude and act as if she did not want to help us. We asked for refills on our drinks and 15 mins. later we got them. We love the food at Chucks so we will be going back but we will ask that we not be seated in her area.

I visit South Carolina every year and I try not to go to the same places to eat every time. BUT, I have to tell you that I will be going back to Chuck's Steakhouse every time I get to South Carolina. I was there last month and I wish I had the chance to go back before having to leave. I had a wonderfull experience at this restaurant. The people there are so nice and they made me feel welcome from the second I walked in the door. The food was great and my steak was the best I have had in South Carolina. The quality of the food was well worth the value of my money. The atmosphere was great. I will be telling everyone that if they get a chance to get to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that they need to go to Chuck's and experience what I had experience.

My wife and I have been to Chuck's twice in the past years of summer vacations. Our last visit was in Aug. 2007. We did not have to wait long to be seated. The waitress was polite and attentive. I ordered rib eye, and my wife had chicken. The salad bar is always very good. Everything on my salad was cold, fresh and crisp. My rib eye was fairly small in diameter; however it was very, very thick. I ordered it rare, and it was cooked just perfect. I will make a note here that it was not flavored that much, but it did have a good charcoal flavor to it, especially on the outside edges. If you are looking for a lot of flavor, you might make another selection. The next time I go, I plan to get one of the steaks marinated in teriyaki for some extra flavor. Chuck's is slightly expensive, but the service, food and atmosphere are above average. I do plan to return when on one of our future trips.

Chucks is a must every year for our vacation. With 4 kids, we usually let each member of the family pick a place to eat each night. Needless to say, sometimes we end up back at Chucks at least twice during the week. Great atmosphere, great salad bar, plus the kids love it as well.

We are a rather large group (35-40) of discriminating executive golfers who go to Myrtle Beach at least twice a year. Both as a full group and as individuals, Chuck's is always on our restaurant list. We have found that Chuck's is outstanding in every respect and category. I was really surprised to read the negative review.....believe me, it does not represent the restaurant....

Thanks Chuck's for coming through once again with the best dining experience Myrtle Beach has to offer. Everyone in our group, mostly first-timers, walked away with huge smiles on their faces thanks to perfectly cooked steaks, an incredible salad bar, and a super relaxed setting. You are definitely a diamond in the rough that we seek out every year, and tell all of our friends to make certain to visit. Thanks again!

I am part of a rather large group (30-40 golfers) of discriminating adults that make trips to Myrtle Beach at least twice a year. Chuck's is always on our restaurant list because we know, as individuals and as the group, that we can absolutely count on Chuck's to deliver...great food, great service and fair prices. While e always hold our last night's dinner at Chucks, many in our number make individual trips to the restaurant during the trips..... We have never been disappointed.

After reading the great reviews below, I can't believe that I ate at the same restaurant as those below. We did not have a good experience at Chucks. The atmosphere was great, the server was great, but the food was aweful and overcooked. I've had better steaks at Shoney's. We were a party of 12 golfers, and each ordered something different. Not one of us enjoyed our steaks. Those who ordered their prime rib "medium rare" got a puddle of blood. Those who ordered their sirloins "well done" got a burned lump. And unfortunately, those were about the only two choices you had. They don't have a large selection of cuts of meat, and the cuts we got were not good. The salad bar and bread were good, but you go to Chucks for a steak. With so many choices in the Grand Strand area, I don't think I'll ever go back to Chuck's.

Third attempt at posting review - I guess they don't post the bad ones. Tjis restaurant is over priced for the quality and quantity od what they serve. The food was mediocre at best. The salad bar was a joke with very little variety. The dishes were dirty and the waiter seemed like he would rather be somewhere else. Save yourself some time and money go elsewhere.

I couldn't believe the prices at this place. And I don't mind paying for a good meal either. But this place actually has items on their menu priced at $45! And that's $45 for a place that serves their drinks out of plastic cups and has a salad bar. We ordered the sirloins, which were terrible and had absolutely NO flavor. If you're looking for a good dinner and you're willing to pay these kind of prices try Thoroughbreds or Joe's Bar and Grill. Both of these restaurants are delicious, have nice atmospheres, and are a better value. I will never eat at Chucks again and I would definately not recommend it to anyone else.

We've been going to Myrtle Beach for well over 20 years and we always stop at Chuck's for the best meal on the strand. We have always been seated in a timely manner, treated with kindness and had an excellent meal. The salad bar is just perfect! The atmosphere is beautiful and very uplifting. We have recommended it to many of our friends through the years and they too have enjoyed their time at Chuck's. Chuck's is the best place to eat in Myrtle Beach!

My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach for our first wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised with Chucks. Even though we are seafood lovers, sometimes you need a little turf with your surf and Chucks did not dissapoint us! We were seated immediately on a busy night and directed to the salad bar which was excellant. Chilled plates and a clean area complimented the fresh contents of the well stocked salad bar. We ordered steak (medium rare) and lobster. The three inch thick steak was perfectly cooked without butterflying it, the mark of a chef who knows what he is doing with beef. The lobster tail was as big as my hand and perfectly steamed. The baked potato was fresh, piping hot, and topped off with real butter and sour creme. The relaxing decor reminded me of a vintage lodge. The service was top notch, the best of any restaurant we visited during our entire stay. The check was delivered with mints and complimentary golf tees emblazoned with Chucks logo. Chucks is a bit pricey but its not expensive when you consider the quality of both the food and service. If you want steak at the beach, there is no other choice but Chucks.

Went to Chuck’s based on the reviews seen here. Not sure why it gets the rave reviews it does. It was overpriced and the food was average at best. The salad bar is a joke. It only has few items. To make matters worse, you are limited to just one trip with a small plate. I ordered the "Super Sirloin". There was nothing super about it. It was bland and flavorless. Wife got Prime Rib. That too was nothing special. Little flavor and a bit chewy.

I can honestly say that the food and service was among the best I have ever experienced at a resturant anywhere. I saw a complaint in another review concerning the plastic cups...geez. I suppose I must be a bit of white trash since it didnt bother me a bit. Great food, superb service. If you can, ask for Jason, he treated us quite well.

One of my "must go-to" stops to our Myrtle Beach vacation has always been T-Bonz at Broadway, well.... chalk up some company for T-Bonz, Chuck's Steakhouse will also be a family tradition for us on future trips!

We tried Chuck's for the first time this year and it was excellent.

The Teriyaki Sirloin was AWESOME! Salad bar was super!

Go and Enjoy!

After years of hearing about Chuck's, eight members of our golf group decided to give Chuck's a try during our March trip. We were very disappointed with the steaks. The service was excellent, as was the salad bar. But, the steaks were not good. I don't like a bloody steak, so mine was sent back twice. I did try it when it first came out (very rare), and it was tough. Unfortunately, additional cooking time did not improve this. My father-in-law likes his medium rare, but it was raw... and his cut of meat was as tough as leather. He definitely had an "end piece" that was inedible. A friend had prime rib with no flavor. The prices were too high for a poor cut of meat (the sirloin). Their steak selections are very limited, too. They have the sirloin, prime rib, and filet. The member of our group who ordered the filet was the only one satisfied with his steak, but his bill was $40! Any of the "Texas Steakhouse" chains have food that is just as good (or better), for half the price. The service and atmosphere, though, are top notch at Chuck's. Our waiter did everything he could (within his power) to try to make sure that we had a good meal. But, there wasn't anything he could do to make up for the poor cuts of meat.

This is a good restaurant, not necessarily a great one. They do not offer a boneless ribeye, which is somewhat surprising since this is a classic steakhouse. The prime rib is okay, but not nearly as good as you would think. I've gone here maybe three times over the last 10-13 years, and each time they don't seem to get the prime rib cooked right. It's usually a tad too done, and just the overall quality isn't as good as what you would see at a Chestnut Hill or Cagney's or Flamingo Grill. The prices are way too high. They're just not proportional for the amount of food you receive. The menu isn't overly diverse. I'll probably go back here five or six years down the road, but not any time soon. If they would lower their prices, give more attention to detail with their food, and expand their beef menu, they would get some extra points in my book.

Wow! What a surprise we had. Our first visit to Myrtle Beach was 3 years ago and we both felt like eating a steak so we ventured in to this non-assuming restaurant called Chuck's without knowing what to expect. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the people who waited on us were wonderful about recommendations and suggestions. Our steaks were perfectly prepared, garnished, and presented and the secret spices they use made our taste buds very happy.

Each time we have returned to Myrtle Beach we go to Chuck's for their great happy hour and have a mouth-watering meal. Our vacation would not be complete without it!

Chuck's Steak House is a Myrtle Beach tradition. The food is amazing- I think the best item is the surf and turf: grilled lobster tail and top sirloin! Truly decadent! The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. With a great wine list, we thoroughly enjoyed our night out as a couple! Every time we go, we also enjoy taking a tour around the restaurant to check out the family photos and wildlife relics. As a visitor of the beach for over 25 years, I have watched the chain restaurants come in and really detract from the uniqueness of Myrtle Beach. Chuck's remains unique and has never left me disappointed.

Chuck's is our favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach. We now live here and go on a regular basis. One of the reasons we like it, is that it is open on Sunday. You can make reservations here as you can't many places. The salad bar is fantastic! You could just have it for a meal alone (one reviewer said it was not good and compared it to Shoney's, not so in anyway. Hamburgers are the best in town and the steaks are tops too. Chuck's has one of the best wait staffs in town. Fast, efficient and polite. Yes the building is old but the way it is decorated makes up for that. It is well maintained and always clean. If you go tell them Pete and Sue sent you. No I don't own Chuck's or work there. I did not get paid to write this review either, we just love to go there, we always feel welcome there

My husband and I went to Chuck's for the first and last time last night. The server wasn't very timely for much of anything. I ordered a well done 8oz sirloin steak, that at best, was medium to medium rare. The server had to stopped by me for us to recieve a refill on our water and she never noticed if we needed any refills of our sodas. so, on top of the steak not being cooked properly mine nor my husbands had hardly any flavor at all. None the least to say we will never go in again to pay the prices for food that wasn't worth the price nor worth the tip they request you to leave a server that doesn't do much to earn it.

After many years of coming to Myrtle Beach, we finally tried Chuck's Steakhouse. For a "no frills" meal, it was a little pricey. We get the same quality of steak at Texas Roadhouse, with better service, better salad, and less $$$. The salad bar is not-at-all special; and for the price of the meal, I would have rather been served a salad. The menu encourages first time visitors to order the "Super Sirloin". I regretted it. There was absolutely no taste to it. My husband said his filet was good. The service was timely enough, but the server was unfriendly and not at all helpful. The interior atmosphere of the restaurant is nicer than one would expect from seeing the exterior, quite pleasant actually, EXCEPT for the music. It was nothing that we ever heard before, and didn't fit the theme of the restaurant at all. Actually, it was annoying, ruining what would have otherwise been a nice atmosphere. With all the good places to get great steaks and service in Myrtle Beach, I see no reason to ever return to Chuck's Steakhouse.

We visited on Aug. 19, 2006 during the infamous restaurant row rush time and as always were seated immediately, the server was very polite and accomodating, and our food was fast and delicious. Chuck's has always been a part of my Myrtle Beach experience for years now. I look forward to it almost as much as getting to the beach. I feel like I am escaping into a rustic mountain lodge when I step through the doors. But of course the food is the reason I keep coming back. Every dining experience I have had at Chuck’s has been a real delight and I will certainly look forward to many more to come. And I always pass on my secret to grateful friends visiting Myrtle Beach -- none have been disappointed yet. Thanks Chuck’s for some first class memories.

After a short waiting period for a table, we were seated with our 2 small children. We waited for the waiter to take our order and were offered to go to the salad bar. I was shocked because I always remembered the salad bar to have quite a selection to choose from. This one had very little and really was not very appetizing. We had our small salads and began our long wait for our food that never did arrive. we advised the manager of this and he did not seem very alarmed he told us that our dinners would arrive shortly! After waiting for 1 hour for our food, we advised him that we could not wait any longer. He charged us for the salad bar and soda and it came to $30.00! We paid the bill but we refuse to ever visit this restaurant again. We believe the manager should have handled this differently. We may have come away with a better feeling.

I went to Chucks almost ten years ago and was impressed. So I kept telling my husband that we simply had to go there and check it out. We went to dinner there for my birthday and really hoped it would be a special occasion. Boy, was I disappointed! For the price of this restaurant, you would expect it to be semi-fine dining. You certainly wouldn't expect to be drinking out of red plastic Coke cups and visiting a salad bar. I felt like I was eating at Shoneys. Also the building is old and the floor upstairs is creaky and kind of scary. It was certainly NOT what I remembered. Now every time my husband and I go out to eat, he makes fun of me for raving about Chucks. It's an ongoing joke between us now.

This is our most favorite place for steak. Great service and food quality.

We make Chuck's a must stop every visit to Myrtle Beach.

We order the 10oz. Filet migon and Chuck's Big Beer (28oz). The best seat in the house (in my opinion) is under the moosehead. We have never been disappointed at Chuck's.

Best Happy Hour on the beach. Great French Onion Soup, Ribs, and beef tips. Very open inside and comfortable. Great place to meet people. Sit a spell at the bar, ask for Andy.
