The Halibut was wonderful, the Mussells extraordinary. Sauces on all were delicious. This is our second visit. We vacation at Sunset Beach, NC. So happy to have found a 5-star restaurant! Aug 2015

Our shrimp, bass fish and chicken dishes were very tender, very fresh, delicious, and perfectly matched with sauces! The bread and pasta wer just right, the veggies gently seasoned but still a tad crisp (good!), the bar drinks were delicious and fast, and the servers were attentive and helpful. Seating was lovely and fast but we made a reservation. Very clean, classy, and very impressed! We will recommend this to our clients.

We went during the non-tourist season and the food was not very good. The shrimp in my dish had a very strong fishy flavor-old. My husband's chicken tasted almost rancid on one corner. The bread was hard enough to crack teeth. We were really disappointed because we had heard such good things about the place. I doubt we will ever go back.

We visited Chianti South two years ago, but because of major illness, could not return. The food at the time was great and the service was way above average, I ordered the dish called Mussells Marinara and the mussels were the sweetest I have had plus the sauce or gravy that you would call it was superb. All food was excellent and the quantity was also. We will definitely go back again.

Visited this restaurant on October 4, 2011. Another wonderful experience at this fine restaurant. Food was most excellent, as always. This is our favorite Myrtle Beach dining spot. Our waitress, Amanda, was first rate. Next time at the beach, I'll eat there again. Not cheap, but well worth the money.

Always looking for a good Italian restaurant while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. The old Tony's (now closed) was a long time favorite. However, tried Chianti South tonight and definitely give it a thumbs up. Good food and Great Service, I will definitely be back.

After a rather upsetting visit on April 3, 2011, our family decided to return on June 29, 2011 because the food is just awesome. We were delighted to be so welcomed and enjoyed the visit. The food here is so wonderful, home made pasta and everything cooked to perfection. This is the busiest time of the year and getting this quality of a meal is great. They must have given the past server's an opportunity to explore different avenues as it was obvious they were not people oriented. Thank you Chianti South for a great experience.

We walked in a the place smells musky. We order a lasagna that we paid just 16.00 for that was not very good. The salad was awful, and the bread had no flavor. We will not be back. Olive Garden is cheaper and taste more authentic.

The menu had many great choices and the food was excellent. I had gnocchi and my wife had campanelle. We have been there several times before and everything was fine. The service was horrible this time and ruined a pleasant dining experience. It was a weekday night during a slow week in the area and there was no need to have such bad service especially since we arrived prior to the busy time. We were seated promptly in the room near the bar which was ok, but after the waitress took our order she disappeared. The bus boy served the meals and cleaned the table. We waited for the check which never came so I contacted the host who brought over the check. After waiting for someone to pick up the check, I finally brought it over to the host and he took care of it. We like the restaurant, but if the service is going to be like that we won't return. It appeared that our waitress had one table in our room and must have forgotten about us as we never saw her after giving the original order.

Let me preface my comments by stating that I do not have any financial interest nor am I realted to the owner or any service staff members of the restaurant. I read the review of April 3rd, and found it very difficult to believe what I was reading. I and my family were at the restaurant that evening and were in very close proximity to the table that submitted their review. Our observations as to the service provided to that table was very much different from what was in the review. The waitress and hostess both handled themselves in a very professional manner, and went out of their way to try and accomodate the table. We have brought many people to this restaurant and have always experienced top quality service as well as food. We certainly will be going back and bringing others with us. I quess free deserts weren't on the menu that night!!

This was our first dinner at Chianti South. We started out at the bar and had fantastic service. Our table was held until we finished at the bar. I really enjoyed the attention we were given by the owner and waite staff. They made you feel like family. The food was fantastic begining with the fresh bread and salad with an amazing blue cheese dressing. Our party of 4 ordered Crab cakes , Antiposti salad , neoki , and chicken parm. The food was outstanding. We highly recommend the Chianti South and will be back soon. !

On 4/3/2011, I brought a party of nine people to the restaurant. Our waitress was one of the worst I have encountered in many years. She seemed either too busy with other tables or was preoccupied with something. We were bringing people new to the area for the first time. We were forced to asked other employees to find our waitress on seveeral occassions and when we addressed our problem to the Hostess, she was rude and unresponsive. I have enjoyed previous trips to this restaurant, but last nite forced me to reconsider going again.

Top notch restaurant ruined by a poor server. Been there a number of times. This is the first time that I found service (our server) to be sub par. Somewhat unfriendly. Seemed unfamiliar with the wine list. (I had to actually show her the list and point to the wine we wanted.) Seemed very rushed. (I only saw her with one other table besides us.) Never poured wine as it was needed, even stood by the table while she watched me do so. Waited some time for her to return to ask about desert. We had waited long enough and simply asked for the check. I will return, but will politely as for someone else if she is assigned our table again.

We are locals who often dine at Chianti's. It is our favorite restaurant on the Grand Strand, this is where we take our guests. We have never had an unpleasant experience there. The staff is wonderful, Arturo, the host, is an absolute gentleman who wants our visit to be the most pleasant. The food is outstanding and the value is superb. This is the total dining experience.

It's difficult to know where to start. Just an outstanding restaurant. We are from western New York state, where we have a large Italian population with great Italian restaurants to match. We are ourselves Italian, and love to cook. This is the best Italian food we have ever had at a restaurant anywhere. The closest to this is in Little Italy in NYC. I had the gnocchi, which I highly recommend. I make this dish homemade myself. Theirs is fantastic. Great sauce. Others in our party had pork chops stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella, in what was described as an amazing marsala sauce. Also a seafood pasta dish with sundried tomatoes. Everyone raved about all the dishes. Aside from this, the Italain bread was so fantastic we could have made a meal out of that and a salad. On top of everything else, the service is incredible; friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, etc. Some on this site have mentioned that this place is pricey. We all thought the prices were MORE than fair given the quality of the food and service. When we return each year this will be our first dinner out. Probably second and third too. Congrats Chianti South. This is how a restaurant should be run! Nice job. Thanks.

At easter my beer had a july date on it. The waitress said all was like that. On sept. 27, 2009 my beer has april date on it. Do they not know what skunk beer is? it's old beer. The waitress this time told me that beer has a shelf life. I did not proceed with the conversation. Also, there were plenty of tables available but another party wa seated next to us and the waitress for them had to rub her rump on our table just to pour one of them water.

This was our best dining experience in Myrtle Beach. The wine list was extensive and obviously chosen by an adroit sommelier. The olive oil and parmesan cheese were imported from Italy and bread was imported New York. The pasta was surpurb. We are returning to Myrtle beach from Toronto in Sept 09 and one of the main reasons of returning is to eat at Chianti South once again. Do yourself a favour and try this amazing restaurant.

Despite arriving during the peak dinner, were served quickly & efficiently. We had the veal special offered that evening & a seafood stew combination that exceeded our expectations. Since the wine list was extensive, we had the wine steward select us a bottle resulting as an excellent choice complimenting our meal. The Italian food & flavor is outstanding and a definite recommendation for those seeking an authentic Italian meal with atomosphere & service.

My wife and I first had dinner here several years ago and our memory of it was not favorable. We couldn't remember why we did not enjoy that experience and decided to give it another try. Whatever caused us to have negative thoughts was completely erased after a wonderful dining eperience last night. The service was excellent and the dinner was one of the best we have had in the North Myrtle Beach area in many years. I missed Tony's when they closed and I still do but we have now found a new favoirite for an excellent authentic Italian dinner. We highly recommend this restaurnat.

I'm typing this entry on March 20, 2009. We just dined at Chianti earlier this week, March 15. It was again outstanding. The attention to detail here is great, and it's a restaurant we've dined at now four or five times. We had always passed by it, but didn't really consider dining here until we saw the commerical advertisement for it on BeachTV while staying one summer. The chops are great, and the fettucini alfredo is the best I've ever had. I can't say for certian if this is the best italian restaurant on the Grand Strand. We've only dined at Rossis and Giovannis back in 2002 on our honeymoon when it was open. But if Chianti South isn't the best, it's pretty close. The only negative is that if you go here, you WILL pay. I dropped $168.00 here Sunday, not even including the tip. I had the veal chop, with a side order of fettucini, two beers, my wife had one glass of one, fettucini with shrimp, my daughter had the same and my son had fettucini. Food, service, atmosphere, attention to detail, experience, it's excellent, but this is by no means a cheap establishment. Be prepared to pay a pretty good chunk of change.

We are from Montreal and 2 yeras ago bought a condo at Brunswick We spend 8 weeks a year there and make sure to include Chianti at least and sometimes 2 x a week when we are there. Arturo is excellent as are all the waiters and watresses,. I usually have the veal margarita and it is perfect. The wine selection is out of this wrold and nothing compares to the home made blue cheese dressing. I have sent may other people there who visit us and they all love the place. Will be there again in a couple of weeks. Ian and Linda Montreal Quebec

My husband got steak which was delicious and perfect, but this is an italian restaurant and his pasta was soggy and sauce salty and bland. My crepes "something" was tasteless. We were seated immediately because the place was not crowded but our dinner took almost an hour to be served. The veal chops that my friend had were at first over-cooked and then the 2nd time, totally raw. The salad was simple green leaf, nothing else. I was very disappointed in our over all meal.

Consistently excellent! I recently had the veal chop after a long hiatus. It was arguably the best I've ever eaten, and I often order it wherever I go. Kudos to the management and staff for a continual job well done!

After waiting for our dinner for three hours we finally left. We never received an apology from the manager or the waiter. Acutally the manager tried to make us pay for the salads we finally received. We did pay for the wine we drank. Other tables that had reservations after us were finished and ready to leave and we had yet to receive our food. We will never ever go there again although we used to recommend this restaurant to friends. We can see that it has clearly gone down hill.

Excellent dinner - Veal Shank was tremendous. The wine list was endless, great selection....nice outdoor deck. The only drawback was the wait - we had a 7:30pm reservation and weren't seated until 8:30pm. It seemed as though thy were understaffed, only one bartender while the place was a madhouse.

FANTASTIC! We are from NY and were worried about getting a nice Italian meal. This place was great! Best things about this place: The Water (yes, even the water tastes great!) The bread is to die for! They give you a real glass of good wine! The blue cheese dressing will ruin you for all other blue cheese...never had better! Each dish was authentic and DELICIOUS! I know I sound like a commercial, but we will go there every time we visit. Service with a smile makes it even better.

Discovered Chianti's by accident this year. We had gone with friends to Calabash and found the restaurants were really crowded. Returning, I saw Chianti's and remembered that I had read a great review of the restaurant. This is now on our list of "favorites." Each of the four of us had something different and no one was disappointed. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Food was outstanding. Since we are "snowbirds," we will definitely return to Chianti's.

Everytime I am in the area my wife and I make it a point to dine at Chianti's. We have been at the restaurant 2 times in the past 2 weeks. This time I will have to say that the food was excellent, but the service was less that satisfactory. We were seated promptly based on our reservation, but had to wait a long time for our server to come to our table. After placing our order he came back twice ... once because he couldn't remember what dressing my wife wanted on her salad. The second time was because he couldn't remember what my wife had ordered. We waited a long time to have our meals served,(others who arrived after us had better results) but when we did they were great. Even with this experience we will be back and would recomend Chianti's to our friends. Also, please note that the last time we were in the service was excellent. Hopefully our server tonight (Male) was having a bad night and that the next time it will be better.

I went here with my fiance to meet his parents for the first time. They are italian, and like the restaurant. When we got there, they had made reservations and were already seated, and then when we came to join the family of 6 they had us crammed into the smallest room in the place!!!!! If you know italians then you know that they love to hug and kiss. Well this was a fiasco considering that the 4 other tables crammed into this room were occupied by others, so meeting the parents was a lot of chairs and tables being knocked over. So we got a lot of dirty looks by the other people. To make matters worse, the waitress we had must have had 17 tables to handle at the same time because it took her forever to get us refills. Lastly, when we did finally get our food, the waitress kept leaning over me to hand other people their food, and sure enough, she dumped the entire plate of oysters and sauce all over my head, shirt, WHITE PANTS, and into my PURSE!!!! she quickly apologized, and then continued to SERVE the rest of our party, not bothering to get me any towels, or anything to wipe up. Needless to say, i would've thought that they might had at least comp'd my meal, but they didn't!!!!! It's a shame too because the food is decent, but the service is AWFUL!!!! (at least that lady was) My entire future family has not been back since!!!! We continue going to Luigi's even though it is further for us!!!!!

One of the most knowledgable and friendly waiters ever encountered. Food was a wonderful surprise. The appetizer - banana peppers and italian sausage was as good a start to a meal as all eight of us could ever remember. Every aspect of the meal was excellent.

Asst Pro at Oyster Bay recommended we eat at this restaurant. This will become a must for future golf trips to Myrtle Beach.

Our family has been coming to Chianti South for years and thoroughly enjoy the food. We have three children who all like different types of food and they always find something great on the menu. Our favorite is the hot seafood appetizer that we all share and the seafood combination dinner that we order fra diavolo. We have told numerous friends and relatives to come here and they have never been disappointed. We are from upstate New York and the owners originally started their business in Newburgh, over an hour south of where we live. Great news for us since we have a second home in MB and are here quite often. Call for reservations and you won't be disappointed either!

Everything about this restaurant was excellent, the service, the food, the atmosphere... As we were finishing dinner we realized we were going to miss the last episode of the Soprano's, we ended up sitting at the bar, having desserts and coffees and watching the series finale! We couldn't have had a better experience. The staff is wonderful! I'm originally from NY and I can say, Chianti is definately an authentic Italian restaurant!

This may be the best Italian restaurant on the Grand Strand. The staff is among the nicest, most professional you will ever encounter. I had the veal chops when we went down in March, and they were perfect. The demiglace and potatoes were spectacular. My wife believes Chianti's Fetticuni Shrimp Alfredo is the best she's ever had. We also agree that their house merlot is also the best we've ever had. A wonderful dining experience, and we plan to go back again when we visit the strand in June.

Being from New Jersey, where there is an abundance of Italian restuarants, and the quality in many of them is top-notch, Chianti South can move here anytime and shine above all others. The food was nothing less than excellant. James at the bar was friendly and welcoming. Arturo went out of his way to make us feel welcome. It does not get any better.

We have been vacationing at Ocean Isle Beach for 20 years and have passed this restaurant numerous times on our way to Myrtle Beach for dinner, never noticing it or stopping to try it. I read the reviews on it here and we decided to give it a try. We have been twice within 1 month, everything we have had has been excellent. The bread they serve beforehand could easily make a meal: Very crusty italian with a wonderful soft interior, served with olive oil and parmesan cheese....I'm drooling already! My husband tried the lentil soup, insisting I at least try one bite. I have hated lentils since childhood, but to appease him I agreed to have one tiny bite. Needless to say, I am now a big fan of their lentil soup, it's not to be missed! Please try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

We discovered Chianti South a few years ago and now it is a must every time we visit the Myrtle Beach area. Really fine Italian cuisine here, and classy but not expensive. Can't wait to go back. The wine list is fabulous, and the Castello Banfi Pinot Grigio does not disappoint. Love the huge LiveOak tree outside the window. The staff and owners are friendly and attentive. Their website is fun and informative.
