Very disappointed. When we arrived At the restaurant, there was no one there. We asked for window seat. We were told we could possibly have one. We were seated at last one. On left. We ordered shrimp Appetizer. Came with smokey sauce. Prime rib also had smokey taste. Not good at all. For sat Night restaurant t fairly empty.would not return or recommend to anyone. Waiter was good.

Great place to take my family on vacation. The food was excellent, service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very inviting. The seafood and steaks were wonderful. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants excellent food accompanied by terrific service. Chestnut Hill Restaurant has a style that is unmatched by any other.

Not good at all!food was burning in the pans, sweet tea was watery, choices were random and looked overcooked. Told the manager I was unhappy and he said "sorry" & still charged me $25!...not worth it!.

Have been to Chestnut Hill several times over the past several years, having enjoyed its excellent service and food. However, this year (summer, 2010) it seems things have slipped. Our vegetarian guest ordered a vegetarian plate. She was served penne pasta, with the seasoned vegetablse cut up and smothered with marinara. Nice try, but the flavors just didn't work. Disappointment. We ordered steaks - they were good, but average. The crab cake appetizers were the size of silver dollars - a fraction of the size they were a few years ago. However, they were very good. Waitress was harried, having to cover 4 tables, one of which was an 8-top. The service suffered. Nice restaurant, but at these prices, we won't be back - there are too many other choices.

For a period of ten years, my neighbors in Raleigh, NC have recommended going to Chestnut Hill on several occasions. On our last trip to the beach, we decided to make a visit. Our waitor, Chad, who was very polite and knowledgeable made a suggestion to try the Chestnut Hill Medallions. My wife and I were intrigued by the thought of two five ounce filets topped with crabcakes and bernaise sauce. After Chad served it to us, we were very impressed. The filet was tender and cooked to perfection. We loved the atmosphere of the candlelight dinner and promise to be back. I recommend trying their signature honey lime dressing as well as their Medallions!!! Also request Chad... He's the best!!!

We had our wedding reception on 6-14-09 at this restaurant and the staff were all great. We were allowed to bring our own cake in, we were pampered, dinner was delicious and everyone commented on the atmosphere. We would recommend using Chestnut Hill for your reception. They will treat you great. The wait staff was the best.

We went there recently for the Early Bird meals. My wife ordered the prime rib and I ordered the sirloin. The sirloin was supposed to be medium. It was overcooked, dry and tough. The prime rib was medium and so tough, my wife was unable to cut or eat it. The waiter came by one time to bring coffee and Coke. When he returned with the bill, my wife told him that this was the toughest piece of meat she ever got at a restaurant, he remarked that "You should have told me earlier!" How was this possible? The entire piece of meat was thrown out! This was the worst experience at a restaurant we have had, EVER!!! Even as the early bird, bill was $44 with coffee, Coke and no appetizers. The waiter seemed really focused on explaining the limitation of the early bird offering, i.e. must be with the purchase of a beverage of some type, coke, mixed drink, etc., but not water. Overpriced, poor food quality and bad service were the order of the day for us during our vist on 2/5/09. There are too many other Good restaurants in the area that offer better food, service and value for your money than putting up with this level of quality. This was our worst experience since being homeowners for twelve years at NMB.

Ate there for the first time in my many visits to Myrtle Beach.

1. the waiter seemed very nervous and jittery. Didnt seem very knowledgeable about the menu

2. We ordered the Prime Rib rare-to medium rare. What we got was a grey-is piece of meat. We sent it back asking for something a little more rare. We were informed that was the rarest?? At 5:30pm?? are you kidding me

3. My nephew found a long black hair in his fried flounder dish, which by the way was tasteless.

4. We got the check they took off the fish and 1 of the prime rib orders. But not once did a manager come by and apologize for our nightmare of a meal. I guess thats why there wasnt anyone eating there.

Bottom line. You can definetly find better places to spend your money than this overpriced overrated place

I've been coming to this restaurant for almost 30 years, I love it!!!! I have entertained guest and customers, all have ordered different dishes and I have never heard one complaint only accolades. The chestnut Hill medallions are my favorite the combination of flavors are indescribable they are so delicious you can cut the meat with a fork. Wonderful wine menu, prices are very reasonable for such a nice restaurant, the service is wonderful. I would suggest you call ahead and save waiting time for a table. It is much better than Morton or Ruth Chris and half the price. It just does not get any better.

I have been wanting to try this palce for the past 2 years that I had went to MB. Finally we stopped for dinner on Friday Aug. 8th. The food , atmosphere was EXCELLENT. I got a NY strip done the way it was asked, and she got Chicken Carma, which was very tender. The hot bread and muffins tey provide were outstanding, had to ask for extra , they were that good, This palce was well worth the wait, and we could not wait to next year and we went the following Monday w/ a part of six. Eveyone in that part enjoyed it as much as we did. The house dressing was out great, the service was great , and the meal was outstanding both times. Atmosphere both in and out was good also. I would just stay away from the peanut butter and jelly sandwish little pricy (Ha Ha) Will be back soon, and which brings me to my final comment as stated we ate there 2x in a matter of a couple of days, and the wait staff although different person form prevoius vist, recalled our vist, which I thougt was very nice. GREAT PLACE

My husband, son, and I ate at Chestnut Hill Restaurant in July and can't wait to go back next year. The food was excellent. My son wanted crab cakes and he said they were the best he ever had. The homemade honey lime salad dressing is delicious as are the different variety of rolls that they serve. We had a table by the window and were able to watch the turtles and gators while we ate. I only wish we had found this restaurant on previous trips to Myrtle Beach.

I am sitting in Myrtle Beach as I write this. I ate at Chestnut Hill last year and I can't wait until I go back Thrusday night. There is no place that can compare to this. The food was excellent. My husband and I got up in the middle of the night to fight over the leftovers. The service was outstanding. I would not recommend this place for a family on a budget as it can get expensive but I can't say enough good things about it. I had the steak with a crabcake on top. Yum, yum.

Very good food (make sure to try the honey lime house salad dressing!! :) ) and the atmosphere was very pretty!!! Seated right on a lake (there are gators in the lake!!!), Chestnut Hill has a beautiful old library-room-feel to it... Make sure to try the filet, it's very tender and good. We had a table of 11 and were attended to very well!

This is my favorite restaurant, not only in Myrtle Beach, but in the world, and I've visited over two-dozen states. The prime rib here is outstanding, and the shrimp cocktail is wonderful. A visit to Chestnut Hill is a must. The atmosphere is perfect, staff is professional and orderly, it's cozy, warm, and dining by the window overlooking the lake is the perfect beginning to a wonderful evening.

Chestnut Hill proved to be an outstanding choice for hosting my parents' 50th Wedding Aniversary. The service was professional, prompt, and caring. They took care of and anticipated every need. Staff was extremely easy to work with in planning and setting up the event. Menu selection and quality was the best that I found during my search for a 'fine dining' restaurant that also provided a private room. Superb combination of a service, atmosphere, dining, and overall value.

Very nice restaurant. Went there to celebrate an engagement and wanted a nice place with good food. I was impressed with the service as it was top notch and what you would expect for a place like this. I was not impressed with the food. We ordered steak and it was just steak. Nothing really set it apart from me just buying one and putting it on the grill. No flavor just a piece of meat. If you are not really interested in good food but excellent service then this is place for you. Overall ok.

Been going to Myrtle Beach for over 10 years, this place is always on our "must do" list for their steaks. The steaks and crabcakes are indescribable...we travel/eat in big cities around the country and have never had anything to match Chestnut Hill's steak medalions/crabcakes. Their "medalions" are huge! They take a filet mignon, cut it half lengthwise and creat two "medalions".

On the expensive side - probably just under that of Thoroughbreds. We find their wine prices reasonable. In-season, there might be loud kids in the restaurant, but other than that it's very pleasant. Try to hold-out for a window-seat to see if you can spot an alligator swimming by in the lake!

We had reseravations for a table of 6 for 7:30pm on a Wed in high-season. Were seated nearly immediately.

We have tried this place and loved it. We came in a little underdressed wearing beach attire but they served us very well. The food was all awesome! You pay for it, but it was top notch. If you want a great tasting meal, this is the place. The blackened scallops were the best I've ever had. But the peanut butter and jelly sandwich at 150.00 was out of my price range!

Patroned the restaurant 2 years. straight - this year will make 3. If you hit the "early bird special time" the prices are pretty good.

The first year we went we were dressed ultra casual and felt out of place when we first walked in because the dining facilities are upscale (in fact we thought they may ask us to leave due to the way we were dressed, but they DID NOT). We were made to feel right at home (wait staff very friendly, and efficient).

The next year we did wear khaki shorts and a nice polo or dress shirt.

The food is excellent and we look forward to going back every year.

My two grown daughters, two small grandchildren & I ate here last week on our vacation. I've been to Myrtle Beach many times, but had never eaten here. I will definitely return. The food & atmosphere were excellent. Our grandson was not in the best mood (over-tired & just 1 1/2) but our waiter was very nice to him. It was just an all around pleasant experience.
