My husband and I wanted to try somewhere different this year. We tried the Chesapeake House and were very glad we did. We both had their version of stuffed flounder and it was excellent. The white chocolate bread pudding is to die for and the cinnamon buns were good! We were both suspicious of the complimentary fish stew.....he liked it, me not so much. We will certainly return.

Although this is our 7th winter in north myrtle beach it was our first time at this restaurant. We enjoy seafood so that what we ordered. It was overcooked and dry. Prices are fair if the food was good and the service was very good. However because the food was not to our liking we will not be back..

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the really good food we received; the flounder and shrimp special was excellent and I was served so many fried shrimp I could not eat them all. The service was good and very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Great locally-run seafood restaurant. Have been going to Myrtle Beach for 24 years and always spend one night here. Great food at average MB prices. Diners receive complimentary fish stew, delicious cinnamon buns, and hush puppies with meal. Fresh seafood--not just fried, can get broiled, grilled, etc. When our kids were little, we always enjoyed visiting the alligators and turtles out back afterwards. Accepts reservations.

My husband and I went to the Chesapeake House with family friends who own a condo in Myrtle Beach. They've been going to the CH for years and we decided to give it a try. They didn't steer us in the wrong direction, this is by far the best seafood restaurant I've been to. Others can't hold a candle. We'll be sure to make a meal at the Chesapeake House a vacation must from now on!

We have been dining at the Chesapeake House since 1982 when my girls were small. It was our favorite place we always looked forward to. My little girls are now all grown up and we continue to come with five grandchildren, whom have come to enjoy this restaurant as much as their parents. It is always our very first and last restaurant meal on our vacation every year. We are coming again in August, and already we are talking about how much we are anticipating our trip just to dine here.

The food was good, and it was fun watching the alligators and turtles out the window. The server didn't seem to know what "club soda" was, and offered us gingerale instead. Considering they had a full bar, it seemed odd.

This place is a tourist trap because everything on the menu is over priced to where your looking at the kids menu to find a meal under $10. I finally decided to order the chicken dinner salad and was very disappointed when it came. The lettuce looked like it was last nights leftovers and the chicken was hard as a rock and very cold. I don't like to complain but felt like I had no other choice. When my plate was returned the chicken was even harder to chew then before (it was microwaved). So I just payed my bill and was thankful I hadn't brought my family here.

For the past 22 years I have been coming to the beach and only twice have I eaten at this restaurant but only because my grand children forced me to. They enjoy the view but hardly ever touch their food. I tried several items that were poorly cooked and lacked any real taste. Trust me this is not a place to eat for anybody.

I remember going to the Chesapeake House in the 70's as a young child. The food, service and atomsphere are excellent. The seafood is very fresh, and you will almost always see an alligator from the window! I am glad I can share the tradition with my children! They love it too!

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had in Myrtle Beach (and we usually go 3-4 times a year). We were seated very quickly and the view was beautiful! The service was outstanding: very prompt even though he was busy. The food was great! I had the Chesepeake Baked Flounder (yum!), my husband had the fried creek shrimp (excellent!) and our son had the child's spaghetti (great!). The hushpuppies and cinnamon rolls....well, thinking about them now makes my tummy growl! This is truly a class act! We will be back when we return in March!

Visited Friday, 9/28/07. for Dinner as a result of reading the ratings on this site. Late season and the four of us didn't have reservations so there was a short wait so we visited the bar for a drink. Bartender was alone and waiting on both tables and bar but worked quickly and was very friendly. The only mixed drink ordered was a Manhattan which seemed small in size contained a generous amount of liquor. Shortly after the drinks arrived we were called to the table. The dining room sits out over the edge of a lake or lagoon and we were fortunate to get a window side table. The alligator who normally lays out in the sun to entertain the customers had just gone in the water for the evening. Dining room is informal and cozy with subdued lighting but certainly not dark. Our waiter was a pleasant young man with a good sense of humor but he didn't overdo the entertainment. The four of us agreed that the food quality was above our expectations. A special "treat" served to all diners is a small cup of fish stew. Two of us liked it the other two passed. I had the Chesapeake House Flounder, a large piece of flounder topped with crab meat and then baked. My wife ordered a fried seafood platter of shrimp, flounder and crab cake served in generous amounts. She very reluctantly left half the crab cake. One friend ordered the Fried "Creek" Shrimp. We had never encountered "Creek" shrimp which turned out to be much larger than the waiter had led us to believe. She also could not eat all those shrimp. Our non-seafood friend had a baked spaghetti dish which he was quite happy with. We dad excellent service, great food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere so it was a great experience. We've recommended to others.

This is a nice, unassuming restaurant on "Restaurant Row" on the north side of Myrtle Beach. We showed up around 8:45 PM on an off-season Monday night, so the place was shutting down. Nonetheless, the greeters & servers were friendly, helpful, and didn't rush us. I had grilled sea scallops, which were fantastic, and a crab cake, which looked like it was straight from the freezer, but was a pleasant surprise as it was moist, tangy and chock full o crab! My wife had the frilled salmon special, which was a tad bland. With the entrees came a small cup of fish stew, a thick tomato-based stew which was a highlight -- next time, we'll both be ordering that on its own. Also there was a standard iceberg salad & baked potato. Finally, they served a bread basket with divine cinnamon buns, and given the build-up (touted as the best I would ever have), thick and disappointing hush puppies. So the bottom line: A nice, solid, friendly restaurant with some ups and some downs. We'll go back!

First time in 27 visits to MB, we tried Chesapeake House this summer as a result of the constant excellent ratings we would read about. We walked in with no wait at 5 PM and were welcomed warmly. I looked forward to trying the cinnamon buns and the cup of fish stew and was not disappointed. We ordered both surf and turf plates and enjoyed them. The wildlife on the pond was an added feature to the ambiance. We had no room for dessert but were intrigued by the choices. In the end, this was our dining highlight of the week. Good job, Chesapeake House. These Canadians will be back!

We visited The Chesapeake House for the first time in June. Our meal was delicious. The portions were more than enough and the bread and hush puppies are undescribable because they are a meal in themselves. Our table was near the water, so we had a great view of the turtles and an alligator. I've already recommended this restaurant to 2 of our friends who are planning to visit Myrtle Beach in August. A plus for us at this restaurant, one of the waiters was from New Castle which is near where we live.

Our first time to visit and we were very pleased. From the begining to the end was delicious. I had the Early Bird seafood platter. My husband had the clam strips. The flounder was very tasty. Shrimp and deviled crab were good. Hush puppies were a little sweet, but we liked them anyway. Our server was very watchful and helpful. Enjoyed a window table and watched the alligator and turtles. Food was fresh and well prepared.

We love Chesapeake House. The food is excellent and so is the service. The tables next to the window have an excellent view of the water and fountain. We have been many times and have never been disappointed. The only complaint I have is that their hushpuppies are so darn good, I can hardly hold my entree when it comes. :)

My wife and I have been to the Chesapeake House twice. Our first visit there was during our summer vacation, 2005. Our most recent visit was during the summer of 2006. My wife wants to make it a yearly summer vacation tradition. We only had a very brief wait each visit, less than 5 minutes each time. The noise level and atmosphere are both conducive to a great night out with that special person. The quality of seafood is well above average. The rolls, bread, and side items are outstanding. The wait staff has always been very nice - full of southern hospitality. The value for your money is good. It is slightly expensive; however I have not yet been disappointed or left hungry.

This is a wonderful place to eat! The meal was the best seafood we've had in the area. We had the early bird special, which came with homemade hush puppies (the best!!) and bread, salad, entree with side, and great homemade cinammon rolls. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. The pond with the alligators out back was really neat. Our waiter was superb and friendly and it was overall the best dining experience we had in Myrtle Beach. We will be back for sure.

We have eaten at the Chesapeake House every vacation since 1976. Our children were raised with the expectation and excitement of eating here during our annual beach vacation. Even now, if you mention seafood, someone is going to share what they consider to be the best meal they ever had at the Chesapeake House. We just ate there the other night, and throughly enjoyed the meal. Our waiter was very attentive to us and the food was exceptional. We enjoyed fond remembrances of times in the past when all our extended family would gather here, almost like a seafood thanksgiving. It truly doesn't get any better! And of course, we finished the experience throwing hushpuppies to the Turtles and Alligator.

Dinner at the Chesapeake House has been one of the highlights of our vacation to Mrytle Beach for a number of years. As we drive the 1,475 miles from Minnesota to the beautiful shores of the Atlantic, we discuss what we are going to eat at the Chesapeake! This year was no exception. Fried Flounder is our all-time favorite! But, everything we've tried has been wonderful! Brian S. is the greatest server. Over the years, we've requested his tables. He's become a part of our "Myrtle Beach" family. We just returned from our week at "the beach". We ate 3 of our 6 dinners at the Chesapeake!
