It was a big disappointment. The food was very mediocre and kind of expensive. We had company come in and I had a coupon for this restaurant, so we decided to drive down to Murrells Inlet. Even with the money off it was over priced. I ordered some seared ahi tuna and the she crab soup. Both of which were not very good. Everybody else ordered the fried platters. No one enjoyed their meal, it was just adequate. We will stick with Sea Captains House from now on, even without a discount coupon.

Went with a party of 14 to cedar hill landing. They did everything possible to keep the food coming at us and eveyone happy! All was very delicious and fresh too. I asked and they said the owner owns his own commercial shellfish business which supllies the food for the restaurant. Awesome food, just awesome. Great view. Great Service. We will be back again for sure.

Food was horrible, over priced, bad service, and to top it off when we asked to speak to a manager there wasnt one to be found. do tell me, who runs a restaurant and doesnt keep a manager on staff at all times. I have been to cedar hill a few years ago when they had just opened and everything was wonderful i was expecting my latest experience to be the same but sadly enough it wasnt. i wouldnt recommend this restaurant.

I've been going to this place for a year and a half. I love the place. The service at the bar is a little slow but the food is good. However, they have recently changed the prices on the menu and they are too high for what you get. That is really the only disappointment that I've experienced. You could go to nicer places for the same price just down the road.

I ate there with my family last night, and it was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had in Murrell's Inlet. Granted we were a party of 15, but they assured us that they could handle that large a party. This could not have been farther from the truth, We were seated promptly, and our orders were taken relatively in good time. About 10 of our party had ordered shrimp and grits, a favorite dish in the inlet at most restaurants. After about 45 minutes, the waitress returned to say that they had run out of grits, and the cooks had not notified of them of this in a timely manner. Only 2 orders of the shrimp and grits could be served. So everyone else re-ordered, and waited another 30-40 minutes for that to be served. When the food was finally served, the shrimp and grits were horrible, with very little popcorn shrimp in it, served in some type of brown gravy, that appeared to be for mashed potatoes. I personally had the crab cakes wit a side of green beans. The crab cakes were about an eighth of an inch thick, were overcooked, and appeared to have been from The Price Club, even though the waitress said they were homemade. The taste was bland and, if there was crab meat in it, it had been put through a blender before being pattied. The green beans were definitely from a can, and it was thrown on a plate like something you would see at an overnight diner. The supposed manager came out after we displayed our understandable dismay and said that they would take care of this. All we received was $2 off each of the shrimp and grits orders that they could not provide. To top it all, someone at the table directly behind us, who was seated much later than we were, received an order of shrimp and grits about ten minutes after being seated. When the bill came, it was split, as we requested, but was completely wrong on all tickets. We finally got out of there about two hours after arriving, and had indigestion from the food all that night. While you can give the restaurant a little slack for having to deal with a party of 15, there was no excuse for letting us sit for 45 minutes before letting us know they could not provide our original orders. Then when the food came, it was all of poor quality anyway. I would definitely tell everyone to never patronize this restaurant. We suspect it will be out of business soon anyway, if they continue to have this type of service and such poor quality food.

Since some of my family lives nearby, I have visit many restaurants in the area. I do not understand some of the good reviews. Perhaps restaurant staff had changed recently. The quality of food was poor. The quantity of food was ridiculous. The price was outrageous. The staff could care less if we did business with them. When I spend 70 dollars for two adult entrees, one child entree, and one appetitizer, I expect a decent meal. We experience one of the worst dinning experience we have ever had at the beach. I will be suprise if this restaurant will be in business next year unless something major changes. If you want good seafood, do not go here!

My wife and I recently moved to Murrells Inlet, SC and received a welcome package of coupons, including one from this restaurant. While we were getting settled in, we did not use it for 2 or 3 months, but there was no expiration date on it. The manager refused to accecpt the coupn for $10.95 off the total bill, so we left without trying the food. We felt that if this restaurant was not able to honor their own coupon, there must be something wrong.

My wife and I started going to Cedar Hill because the food was good and reasonable. As time goes on, the prices have gone up to normal, tourist rippoff prices. These are some of the problems we have had lately-( very small cup of slaw,3 out of 4 orders wrong, out of salteen crackers, out off bake bake potatoes, out of sour cream,on a friday night out of french frys (They should go to food lion and buy some). This could be a nice place if there quality control was better. Size of portions are different everytime we go. Mrs Nance, needs to find a new manager.

My wife had the steamed clams and as usual I sampled a few. They were wonderful. The best we have had. I had the blackend shrimp and they were very good as well. There was this shredded lettuce and slice of tomato on the plate. I assume this was supposed to be garnish. They could and should have left this off the plate. I already had an appetizer, the oyster cocktail, as well as slaw and some fried sweet potatoes. The server was excellant and full of personality. The building is really neat and full of atmosphere. I look forward to coming back in the summer months. Price was well suited to portions and quality, in fact I felt it was a bargain. Seating was spaced out nicely and made it comfortable to talk in a conversational tone.

We eat at Cedar Hill Landing any time we get the chance. The food is always fresh and cooked to order! Sometimes it can take a while for the kitchen to get it out, but oh when they do it is always perfect. I particularly like the seafood platter and my wife adores the she crab soap. It is a very laid back place and depending on when you go can be a little bit on the loud side if they are really crowded. As for the music when the have it, it adds a nice down home honkey tonk feel to a true southern dining experience. Seafood in the inlet the way it is truly meant to be served. Cedar Hill Landing, just the right way to do seafood in the south--kudos!

My brother was visiting from Montana and wanted to go where the locals eat. I chose the Landing because of the great view and quiet atmosphere. The view was nice but there was a loud musician that robbed us of a peaceful dinner. We were hoping he would take a break but he did not. My throat was sore Saturday and my brother had no voice at all and that was from trying to have normal conversation. We were outside and the music was right inside the door, those poor people next to him!! That aside, the food was excellent. I love the jalapeno bites and my brother said the crab cakes were the best he had ever eaten. The server seemed a little lost but kept us in cold beer and was timely with the food and drink. This would have been a perfect dinner if there had been some soft music playing. Something that would coincide with the natural environment surrounding the restaurant. I will try again but will call ahead to see if there is "music".

I can't understand how anyone can have any thing good to say about this restaurant.

For the quality and amount of food one gets on a plate, I would say they over charge. The kids fish plate was the only dish that was decent in taste/price for the amount of food they served.

As for my husband who had ordered the linguine and clams ...it was totally horrible! I admit that the clams were fresh, however the pasta was sOooo water logged that the dish was so soupy and tasteless and plain that my husband taken only two forksful & wouldn't eat the rest. We all taken a taste of it because we wanted to see how horrible it was. There were 4 more of us who confirmed that this restaurant does not know how to cook!..at least when it comes to an Italian delicious dish such as white clam sauce & linguine. The cost of this terrible experience was about $17-$18 (out rageous for this type of restaurant). My fried oysters were raw oysters with fried batter!

A high price to pay for such delicacies done bad!

As far as we are concerned..anyone that thinks this restaurant has good food, certainly must not know what good food is! They must not eat out enough to try as many different restaurants as we have. We had dined in Buckhead in Georgia all the way to New York and spent many thousands doing so through the years.

Never did we experience such watered down clam sauce & water logged pasta in all these years (30 yrs. or more). Nor did I ever eat fried oysters that were raw and have to pay for it more ways than one!

The problem was that I was prepared to tell the waiter about all this but my husband & son said they would feel embarrassed if I did so. Embarrassed I said to them! This restaurant is the one who should be embarrassed not us...(however, I didn't go against their wishes). I am annoyed to have to travel from Georgia to Myrtle Beach... looking for a place to eat that was recommended by someone we met at Piggly Wiggly to go to Cedar Hill (obviously she made a mistake in doing so)..then get served such garbage & have to pay for it!

Atmosphere??? What atmosphere?...I felt like I was in a Cracker Barrel restaurant done with a little seafood decor added to it. EVEN CRACKER BARREL DOES IT BETTER.

NEVER AGAIN!

We have eaten here 3 times, the 1st time to try it and the other 2 times we were invited by friends that wanted to listen to the live music. The 1st time(Dec 2006) was okay.I had a special. The other 2 times were horrible! 2nd visit-When I order grouper,I expect grouper, not a flat, slimy frozen farm raised fresh water fish of some far east country which is what ever person at our table that ordered grouper got.The baked potatoes were cooked the day days before and cold. One persons food came out 10 minutes after the rest of the table finished eating.3rd time- I was no fool and did not order seafood.I had a burger that came out rare and had to be sent back and came out finally about 40 minutes later charred and burnt.I had a casual conversation with a business associate about 2 months after visit 2 when he had just come from lunch at Cedar Hill.I did not mention my experiance. He made a comment about ordering a grouper sandwich and getting some other slimy fish in place of grouper.

Horrible! After reading all of the wonderful reviews, I was expecting great oysters and great service. I am a local and had family visiting for the memorial day holiday. I was excited to take them to this restaurant because of all of the wonderful things people had said about the food and atmosphere. We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp and a "double" (which is thirty) oyster roast (**steamed oysters**). Well, it was our server's second day on the job and apparently the restaurant was short staffed and had a new cook in the kitchen. We never received any hushpuppies the entire three hours we were there. It took an hour and a half to get our food and we were served freezing cold raw oysters. We ordered steamed/roasted oysters but our server didn't know that they couldn't serve them that way because of the season (or for being short staffed). But, whatever the reason, it took them an hour and a half to serve us cold oysters. We think they might have taken a boat out on the inlet and dug up one of their oyster beds. People were leaving the restaurant left and right. We should have left too, but they took the oysters off our bill and we ordered a shrimp po' boy and grouper sandwich. At the end of the day, this restaurant is crap and I was embarrassed that I had chosen it as the only restaurant that my family went to while they were in town. Stay away from this place! there were three of us and we ordered a total of 7 beers (had to wait 1.5 hr to get the cold oysters then another hour for the second set of orders), a couple of sandwiches, and some shrimp. Our bill for this came to $96.00. I will not be back or recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is absolutely the worst restaurant in Murrells inlet. Diners beware!.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. Worst shrimp and grits I have ever eaten. Combo of shrimp and oysters - got 6 shrimp, 6 oysters. Did not taste like fresh local seafood and way too greasy. On the upside - the outside seating was nice and the live entertainment was great. Hostess and waitstaff were good. Will not return on my next visit.

Had lunch here the other day and was impressed! I had heard the food was good but, wow! I had cynthia's platter, oysters, clams, scallops, flounder, shrimp, deviled crab, fries and cole slaw. Perfectly fried, very little batter, and no, I never even came close to finishing it. Good value, great food, good service, very nice view, i'm a casual kind of guy, this place place is "perfect". Upon leaving I noticed the "nance" name was taped over on the sign outside. I wonder if the pseudo-nance up the street has something to do with it..

After reading the reviews of this restaurant, I was really looking forward to dining when I was in the area recently. Unfortunately, it really fell below my expectations. We dined early on a weeknight and it was not busy at all. However, our server took an incredibly long time to come to our table, and was not a pleasant person. Menu items were sparse and pricey, and they only offered 2 kids menu items. When our food arrived, the fish was way over cooked, and too salty. One of my girls said her applesauce tasted funny, and after trying it, she was right. The best part of our meal were the hushpuppies and the view.

We ate at this restaurant last weekend. I ordered steamed oysters,($17.00). I probably got a maximum of three tablespoons of oysters out of the entire bucket. They ranged from small fingenail size to just a bit larger. Upon leaving the restaurant, I asked the waitress about oysters. She said that it is the wrong time of year for decent oysters. Also, the others in my party experienced bad food (flounder, fried oysters and cold boiled shrimp) at extremely high prices. This is my last time eating here. Hope they improve their food or they will not be open long.

The food here is great! I love that they will not only broil or fry the seafood, but also blacken it, which is my favorite. Everything is fresh and tastes wonderful. The taste is better than most other seafood restaurants with a slightly lower price. I've never had to wait to be seated and everyone is always friendly. It's a comfortable feel good place. I take friends and family from out of town here. I suggest sitting outside, even on warm days. The breeze off the inlet is just perfect, along with the view. Enjoy!

This is by far a great place to eat. I took my family from Cleveland Ten. to eat they loved it. The SheCrab soup is great and they also raved about the Cynthia plater. This really beats those places that have 120 item buffet. Cedar Hill has the real seafood and the food is fresh when it comes to your table.

What can I say, excellent in all catagories. Portions are far from average, will not leave hungry. Staff are friendly, genuine home-like atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone visiting South Carolina. Seafood items are fresh and top notch. Bill won't hurt your pocketbook either. Good news for families, groups.

Nance's Cedar Hill is a true reflection of Murrells Inlet. The seafood is fresh and southern. Although everything is delicious, the oysters in the winter are to die for! They are extremely clean, fresh and cooked to your taste... Try out a real Murrells Inlet Restaurant!

I grew up in a town about 30 minutes south of Murrell's Inlet (Georgetown). My father told me yesterday that he saw Chris Nance down at the docks here yesterday buying fresh fish and shrimp to serve at the Nance's Cedar Hill Restaurant. No wonder the Nance's are claiming back their family's good name in the seafood business. Everything at Cedar Hill is straight off the dock...WOW. My wife and I ate at Cedar Hill last night.....no doubt it is the best seafood in all of South Carolina. I know exactly why now!

The food was good. Our group had some who liked seafood and some who did not; the ones who did not found lots of other choices for them on the menu too. They have a seafood market where you can buy raw seafood to go too. After having my fill of shrimp on my platter, I was able to get a 2 pounds to take back to our condo to cook myself tomorrow. All and all I would rate this place as a super A+. We will definitely come back next year.

Great Food! My parents for years took us to eat with Ms. Cynthia at the other Nance's Restaurant. I am so glad she and her family are back in the restaurant business after selling the old place along with the family name. Nance's Cedar Hill without a doubt has the best oysters and best seafood platter in all of Murrell's Inlet. And do not be fooled by the signs.....Ms. Cynthia only cooks at Nance's Cedar Hill Landing Restaurant... it's the southern-most restaurant in Murrells Inlet on the water.
