Review: The Captain's Plank is great! my husband and I love eating there. The food is the best the beach area has to offer. The place is older than most, but along with that comes great experienced cooks! we have been told that some of the cooks have been there for 20 years. We always ask the locals for the best (non-chain) restaurant. This is truly a place with great food and a place that appreciates your business. Its obvious that the food is homemade and not from a can like most of the restaurants serve. It's sad that our society is loosing things like the Captain's Plank....homemade biscuits, homemade mashed potatoes, fresh fried squash (not breaded and frozen), homemade meat loaf, fresh baked (my husbands favorite) turkey, ham ,etc. The younger generations will not even know what a truly fresh homemade meal taste like! if you are in the north myrtle beach area, please eat there....you will be so glad you did. Its an experience you'll remember forever. It's great!.

Review: My family loves this place! we have been coming to the beach for over 20 years and never miss going to eat here. The great thing about it is there is something for everyone and it is fresh cooked not bland tasteing like so many others. The price is better than anywhere we have been! it's amazing what all you get for the money. The building needs some updating, but hey, we'll take an old building with great food and great prices over a fancy building that we pay for instead of good food!.

Review: Best food on the beach! I can't imagine why this place would have a negative review! we have a home in myrtle beach and we prefer to drive to the other end of the beach for a meal at the Captain's Plank! it has great food (anything you could want) and at a steal of a price! the other restaurants seem to be show places with some food thrown out on a buffet. This place may not look fancy or big like some, but they know what real food is all about! we highly recommend it to all...it's great!.

Review: You miss out if you don't go to this place. The best food and best price anywhere around! there is something for everyone. You don't leave hungry. This is obviously a locally owned business. My family prefers this type over the chains anyday! wish they had a captain plank in greenville. The employees were very nice and helpful. We will surely go back!.

Review: The food was so cold and the place needs to be fixed up , we had brought some ladies from home to eat there and wanted them to see what everyone in rockingham was saying about this place---my mama is coming this week end and I hope she gets better service than we did----.

Review: We visited on sunday, feb 4, 2007. To sum up our experience: insulting. Generally: poorly prepared and presented food. The dried out beef and turkey should have been removed from the serving line yesterday. After a long wait, when a server did arrive to slice the ham and turkey there was a distinct impression of "too much of a bother" to her actions. And what is with the staff sitting and eating while we had to get our own straws and napkins? the overall quality of the cooking was at best amateurish. Perhaps a class in food prep by all is in order. Also clean the building! signed: never again..

Review: We have walked the Plank for the last time. They have always had good food until this visit. The crab legs were pittiful. Only one pan was put out the entire time we dined, and they were so soggy you couldn't break the shell. The shrimp, scallops and deviled crab were very greasy and didn't have much taste. The ham was good though. Sorry Cap'n, we will not be back.

Review: My friends recommended the Captain's Plank for its seafood buffet but they were there years ago - I think it must have changed.

It's really OK for the country buffet part. My mother doesn't like seafood so got turkey, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, vegetables and some cake from the dessert bar and was happy with her meal. And the price for the country buffet was only $9.95.

Some of the rest of us though, who were looking for seafood, weren't very impressed. The peel-and-eat shrimp was overcooked, there were no crab legs on the buffet when we arrived at opening time (4:30). But the breaded flounder was fine and so were the hush puppies and onion rings.

The wait staff was attentive and nice.

On our way out we noticed they were advertising for cooks and servers so I'm hopeful it will improve. It's at a great location if you're in Cherry Grove.

Review: I love Captain's Plank! The fries are always crispy and the fried shrimp is great. It's a great down home family atmosphere. I have been going here ever since I was young and now have a chance to bring my daughter. It's one of the highlights of our yearly trip to South Carolina.

Review: We went to this restaurant last July when we were in Cherry Grove Beach. We were very pleasantly surprised and will be going there again in a few weeks. We have a "picky" 10 and 3 year old and this place had something for everyone. Also, my then 2 year old actually tried something new from the buffet. Again, we will be going there again.

Review: The food was terrible. The Roast Beef was very fatty. The Shrimp was rubbery. The Crab Legs were cold. The worst meal we had while vacationing.

Review: Probably one of the worst buffet meals I have ever eaten. The only thing that was good was the fried fat back if that tells you anything- now who can screw up fat back??? I definitely have been there and definately will not plan to go back again. Nasty!!!! That word applies to the food- the service- everything there----however I will have to say that I was really impressed with the hostess- she was a really nice retired lady that took the time to be pleasant and appreciative. She deserves a better place to work.

Review: This was the worst and most disappointing meal I have ever had at the beach. I would never eat at this place again. They advertise crab legs, they had none, There was a Turkey carcus a small piece of Prime Rib, The Shrimp had a funny almost "spoiled" taste to it. I was there around 4:30. They let food run out and did not replace it. They advertise to have a seafood buffet they don't have much: a small pan of fish and some odd looking oyster stew, and spoiled peel & eat shrimp. At the table we sat at 2 out of the 6 chairs were broken.

Review: We always go to the "Plank" for the buffet. In our opinion, it just can't be beat. The country buffet is always fresh and good and the crab legs are plentiful.

The dessert bar leaves a little to be desired but always a good choice for a major eating!!

Review: I have been going to Myrtle Beach for several years and now have a "second home" in North Myrtle Beach.

Last week I took the family to the Captain's Plank for the first time.

We were seated right away, the place wasn't real busy, but it took our waitress a while to get our drink orders to us.

The buffet left a lot to be desired. The turkey was nothing more that a carcas sitting in a pan, and although we hoped another turkey would be brought out it never was. The roast beef and ham were terribly picked over...perhaps they should have someone carving? The vegatables were average. The desserts were a big disappointment.

The floor and ceiling needed to be cleaned. It took the waitress a long time to bring us our check, even after asking for it a few times. Drinks were not ever refilled.

Needless to say, we won't return.

Review: This was by far the worst food I've ever had.

The food sat out on the buffet line too long and was over done or cold.

It was my families first expirence at the beach and I have not stopped apologizing yet.

Review: Eat there every year. Look forward to it. Love it. Food great. Something for everyone. Wife doesn't care for seafood but enjoys the country bar. Good value. Never a wait to be seated. Will have to be more careful next year. Always ate in back dining room (less people) before but they have changed it to the smoking section.

Review: yummie...fill up everyone on the best food...really, juicy veggies, fabulous turkey and all sorts of stuff...desserts are ok but everything else is superlative and plenty of it...sort of like being in camp...if there was first rate food served....go hungry for sure....good prices, especially at lunch.
