My husband and I being 2nd time visitors to the Myrtle Beach area, the first being about this time last year, were driving around looking for a place to have lunch. We ended up at Captain Juel's. My husband had the fried grouper, (he said it was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked) and I had the shrimp and grits, (which I loved). Very creamy grits and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The food was awesome. The atmosphere was rustic with a definite marina-fishing style. We enjoyed looking out over the water! The server was great also. We loved it!!!!!!!!!!We can't wait to go back next year!!!!!!

The oysters and grilled shrimp were fantastic. We enjoyed spending the afternoon sitting on the deck and watching the boats travel the waterway.

This was one of the worst food experience we have ever had. We had a party of 5, only a few other guests in the restaurant, we were seated immediately. The sever was average, we order flounder and it was awful, so bad we could eat very little of it. One of our party told the server that his flounder was bad, so she brought him a serving of fried shrimp that was like a box of frozen shrimp from the grocery. I also, told her that I could not eat mine either. The baked potatoes, evidently, had been warmed over from earlier. We should have ask for management, but didn't. We were also, charged 18% gratuity for a party of five. Will never go back, and advise others to stay away. Oh, by the way the tea was good, so we ended up paying $135.99 for tea. By the way we had eaten here several times in the past (50's thru 80's) and it was always good, this was the reason we went back 10/01/2007. But no more.

At here at the end of June. The wait was about 20 minutes which I didn't think was bad, given the wait at many other restaurants. The service while at first was slow, was then very attentive and very good. Food was average, but they had terrific hush puppies at least by this Northerner's standards. Nice view and given that there were several groups with kids, it was very calm and quiet. Next time, I'll go for drinks and a few appetizers and just relax on the deck and this will be a terrific evening.

This was our first visit as we wanted to try new things on our trip. We were seated immediately at a nice table with a view of the water. They have a honey poppyseed salad dressing that is so yummy; I chose to eat my hushpuppies with that instead of the honeybutter. The hushpuppies were very good as well.

I ordered the filet and it was good, but a little too done (more medium well as opposed to medium). Everyone else had seafood and seemed to like it. Nice, quiet change to standing in lines at other restaurants in Myrtle Beach and the drive was not bad at all.

We ate at Captain Juel's last summer after a a dolphin watch ride on the Sea Screamer. It was a quaint local restaurant with a piano player and they kept the temperature just right for those of us who were just coming in from the wet ride. I had Mahi topped with a crab cake in a delicious sauce. We were skeptical at first but were very impressed with the food and the service.

We had coupons and thought this would be a good choice since it sits by the ICW. . . wow what a mistake. Service was average at best - place was quite empty and the food was horrible. This place could not even make good french fries. Prices in SC's restaurants is so MUCH higher than in NJ and in NJ we can BYOB. . . here we are where most folks have much less and yet the restaurants overcharge for less than average food. . .I do not get it!!!

Before we (3 couples) visited North Myrtle Beach I printed up the reviews of the many of the restaurants in the area. Captain Juel's Hurricane Restaurant was the one we picked to have dinner the first night and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We sat outside and it was great. Watch all the boats including the casino boats go by. I am sure we will go back to Captain Juel's Hurricane Restaurant.

This has got to be the best restaurant in the Grand Strand. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 29 years. It is a tradition my father started. The food is consistently wonderful. The servers are super friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The food is a little bit pricey, but well worth it. My kids were thrilled to see the boats so close. All of the shrimp dishes are awesome--particularly the shrimp and grits and the coconut shrimp!!

The fried shrimp is really good, so is the atmosphere. It is really nice to walk on the dock, but the water is dirty. They have a play room for the kids. The food gets an A+!

Service and food are the best on the beach. I ate there twice on a weekend golf outing. The shrimp and grits are to die for.... trust me.The friendliness of the staff and the local patron known as "Big Al" will keep me coming back for years to come!!!!!

This was our first visit to Captain Juel's. We were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and helpful, and we never had to ask for drink refills. Though some of the seafood entrees were a little pricy, the Mahi Rockefeller was excellent and you have to try the hot spinach-crab dip and fried green tomatoes. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. It was dark and raining the night we went, so we didn't get to enjoy the deck, but the lights over the water were pretty, and we would eat here again.

We went for the View as seen on the ad picture. There is now a large deck that blocks the view. You can only see the sides. Food was average at best. I could taste the freezer bun in my crab cakes. Salad was no more than lettice and the baked potato was tiny. If you want value go somewhere else. If you want to look at the boats plan on a drink on the deck.

We love eating here because we run into other locals, the food and service are good, and the view is exceptional. Although not the most comfortable seats in the world, the outdoor deck is a fantastic place to eat and watch the activity at the Little River waterfront in the warm months.

Best view of the intracoastal waterway on the strand! Great selection of food from hamburgers to one of a kind seafood dishes. Watch all the boats including the casino boats go by or come in and get a drink before going out on a boat. Dinner specials every night and also has bar area with entertainment.
