Review: The food was terrible. Family members got sick. There was a hair in the salad dressing. The price to eat at this restaurant was way too expensive for the quality of food. The dessert bar was disgusting looking and there were people running all over the place. Since we were never there before and did not know what to expect, it was the worst meal we ever had. I would never recommend this restaurant and I honestly do not understand why it is still in business. At $28.99 per person, the 4 of us didn't even come close to getting what we paid for. We have went to classier restaurants with better food for a lot less. This was a very disappointing experience, one we will never make again.

Review: This was our 2nd visit to Capt George's. First time, a yr ago on vacation we we're delighted. This time, we left empty and disappointed. Quality of food was acceptable at best. The price for two people, came to almost $100 for a buffet. The wait staff did a good job, but did not make up for the over priced, low quality food that was served. Might be time to think about being more concerned about quality and customer service/experience and less about quantity and acting like a military mess hall. We will not go back to Capt George's again.

Review: We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for years and this is the first and only good buffet we have found. Don't be fooled ny the buffets with more items in them this one has just the right amount and it's quality food cooked like a cook to order restaurant. Clean, friendly simply the best! We will come back every year!

Review: ive been to captain george's before in williamsburg, va.. the food was better there but i have to say in myrtle beach it was good. i would definitely try and go on sunday or with a coupon, yes it is pricey but the quality is much better than the other chains in the area. we were there during the july fourth weekend and we didnt have a wait. i would definitely go back as well as my friends that live in surfside beach. they have tried several other buffets in the area and said non compare to this one.

Review: The best dining experience, and the best food on the beach.We ate here on our trip in Oct. and we loved the food,and we actually came back a second time before heading home.We were just there over the 4th of July and ate there twice.The food was awesome,and the waiter was friendly,and made sure we had what we needed.The seafood, especially the crab legs, were great.This is our favorite buffet at Myrtle Beach, and we will eat there on every trip..

Review: Most of the food was very good. Was disappointed in the fried shrimp, had a bad taste. The key lime pie was terrible, very artificial flavor. The fried scallops were wonderful as were the peel and eat shrimp and the crab legs. Would have liked more fried options, especially clams. This Capt. George's just not as good as the one at Virginia Beach.

Review: Overpriced, for 28/person you can get a decent meal at any chain restaurant for way less. The quality of the food was awful, but this what can a person should expect to get for a buffet directed to serving hundreds of people. The waiter was attentive even though there were only two waiters working a large room. The chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake and chocolate eclair had a banana flavor. How does chocolate cake have a banana flavor? When the waiter ask about the food I said bad and he apologized for us having an unfortunate experience.

Review: Best buffet in Myrtle Beach. We go there everytime we visit, my husband dose not like seafood so he has the prime ribm which is awesome. You pay about 70.00 for a party of two, but you get what you pay for, all the other buffets are out of a box and really not worth eating. The resturant is huge so seating is no problem, this is the only buffet we ever go to

Review: Captain Georges has great atmosphere and delicious fresh food. Three members of my family require a gluten free diet. The Chef, Juan, came out personally to review the ingredients of each item at the buffet! He was patient, understanding and very accommodating. He even made special gluten free food and had it brought to our table. Our eating experience was excellent! Huge buffet with great food and very attentive staff.

Review: For the price of about $33 each the food was terrible. It was even terrible for $15 each. Food was cold or luke warm. Salad had bits of cellery that was brown. Some of the fruit had rind still on it. Over all I was soooo disappointed. For $33 each I was expecting perfect food. It was terrible! WIll never go again.

Review: This is just an outstanding place to eat, food is all fresh, no vegetables from a can, employees walking the bufffet area to ensure that there is plenty of everything, the manager "Joe" is just awesome, we have been there four times this year and we are planning a weekend getaway there this weekend and Friday night we will be in the restaurant. Review: Really disappointed and overpriced for what was offered on the buffet. Had to wait for the food to be replenished. Prime Rib very thin/dry. Steamed shrimp mealy, tuna dry, crab legs cold and salty. A lot of empty trays and lots of waiting.... Service great. Waitress picked up old plates and served fresh drinks w/out asking. Dessert bar subpar. Some items bitter tasting and hard as if been sitting for a while. Will not try this restaurant again. Had a coupon for 1/2 off second dinner but felt price still too high for quality of food received.

Review: Our experience at Captain George’s buffet was not good. Most pans were near empty, with food lukewarm at best, yet still overcooked. For example, we found two pieces of tuna in one, three pieces of salmon in the next, a few scraps of Mahi, cool broccoli, and on and on. My wife nibbled at a few items, couldn’t stomach most, and settled for a couple things from the dessert table. I tried to make the best of it by eating as many crab legs as possible--but the diminutive crabs who'd donated made that a difficult task. Altogether, more than enough to rate this restaurant near the bottom of a very long list. What keeps Captain George's from last place was the service. When asked how the food was, I explained as gently as possible the many failings. Our waiter immediately fetched the manager, and the manager was willing to have the kitchen prepare for us any dish that we had found unsatisfactory. I believe it was a sincere promise, but by then my wife had lost her appetite, and I had resolved to try to get my value out of the crab legs. That turned out to be impossible, as the oily margarine dip did in my ambition before I could break enough of those tiny legs to make a meal. For what it's worth, we went to the restaurant on a Monday night, about 7:30 p.m., on March 1, so it was an off day in the off season. There were not twenty customers in the place. I suppose in many ways, this is the most difficult time to keep a buffet appetizing when the pans empty in half-hours or hours rather than minutes, but that is the business Captain George is in. Given that each person pays more than thirty dollars for the privilege, the restaurant needs to deal with the conditions as they are. Ultimately, they only charged us for one meal. Even so, with drinks, tip and tax, the bill was about forty-five dollars. Given the food we tasted, at that cost, even understanding the circumstances, and with sincere apologies and attempts at amends, it’s a pretty good bet that we will not be going back. I commend their willingness but am unimpressed by the execution. My suggestion would be, if you walk in on a slow night and the pans are near empty, consider walking back out. Or, perhaps, try for early rather than late.

Review: We visited Myrtle Beach for s long golf weekend and was terribly disappointed in the quality of the food and the rudeness of the manager. Upon paying our bill we discoverd (after we ate) that the receipt says no gift cards accepted except for Captain George's. The manager belittled us and made us feel unimportant. $160 for the 4 of us and we didn't matter. He only wanted money and not customer service.

Review: My family and myself have been visiting this establishment since it was new. I have always recieved great service, and great food. Yea, it is pricey, but you pay for what you get. I have been there in the off season and also in peak times such as in June. The food and service has always been awesome! I am hooked! Do not try any of the chain resturants like Bennett's. Don't waste your money with them. Captain George's is the only way to go!

Review: We arrived for the "early bird special". There were only 4 other tables occupied, and thus, no wait to be seated. Service was prompt and efficient but not terribly friendly. The buffet was extensive but hardly anything on it was hot. Most of the entrees were lukewarm. Prime rib was available as a special order item. I ordered one, and it was very large but quite thin. Some of the desserts were good but most seemed to come from instant mixes. The pudding in the banana pudding tasted like the canned variety. Overall, I felt the meal was horribly overpriced, especially for food that wasn't even hot. I sent a complaint to their corporate office but they didn't bother to respond.

Review: i had taken my husband to capt. georges on 10/20 for his birthday. we have been to capt georges many times, but i am sorry to say that our last few visits have been less than desirable. on this night a whole section of the buffet was out of order. we went up to get an order of crab legs that was luke warm,ans my husband had got scallops and oysters they were cold. we told the waiter he went to the kitchen to bring more out. our waiter was great but the food was horrible. most of the food was greasy and luke warm. they were out of she crab soup,which took 20 mins to get from the kitchen. itv was a tuesday nite, hardly close to busy. when you spend $70.00 for dinner the food should be top of the line. we will never go back to capt. georges again, this is not our 1st bad experience at this location. we have been to va. beach and williamsburg and never a bad meal! this location has got our last dollar!!!!!!

Review: when we went to georges tonite for my husbands birthday as we walked by the buffet one large section was out of order, but they stated everything was still on the buffet. started with the legs which was barely warm. my husband got the scallops, oysters, and steam shrimp which were also cold. we said something to our waiter he said he would bring us our food from the kitchen if we wanted. i had wanted some she-crab soup the container was empty, so the waiter went to get some from the kitchen that took 15 mins. everything on the buffet was greasy.our waiter did the best he could but they should have told us about the problem when we went in, because this is not the first time we have had a bad meal here, and the only reason we tried it again is because of the reviews that were on this site. never again for 65.00 and no drinks they have got my last dollar, never again!!!!

Review: I did not go here but my husband, brother, and father did, and raved about it! I went by other people's reviews and this by far got the best ratings for a buffet. They said everything was fresh, and the crab stuffing was to die for! They spent 2 hours in the resturant just eating, cause they didn't want to leave! Review: Horrible. I will probably never eat at another seafood buffet in Myrtle Beach again! Now, that's not true. We've been to others and they were fine. I thought this would be good because of its ad but I guess if you have to advertise it a lot (which they did) they've spent their money on ads and not good food! The fried shrimp were those little popcorn things and underfriend and soggy. Nobody ate them and they then brought out another big panful of undercooked greasy shrimp. I couldn't believe it! I think the cook on Friday night was drunk or something. The fried scallops were the best thing I found to eat - they were sea scallops - but they, too, were a little overcooked as they were a little tough around the edges. The crablegs were all you could eat for $28.95 but they were watery and therefore tasteless. The steamed shrimp were served cold and overcooked also as they were impossible to peel! None of the strange looking baked fish looked appetizing so I was afraid to touch any of it! The best things I had was the salad and the chocolate chip cookie. I hated paying $30 for salad and a cookie! I would never return to Captain George's in Myrtle Beach. P.S. I know good seafood because I lived in Maryland for 40 years and this was not good seafood! Review: My wife and I were very disappointed in the place. Especially the waiter named Steve R. The total bill for the 2 of us was $70.20. All we ordered was the buffet, sweet tea and a sprite. We got there around 8PM and the food was running low at that point. The crab legs were too salty the chicken wings were terrible and other food (looked liked scallops) was not fit to eat. Because of the price being so high, I asked the waiter about a senior citizen discount and he was very sarcastic with his answer. I guess he didn’t think that I qualified, but I bet I'm old enough to be his grand paw. I only ate one plate of food, which contained crab legs, one chicken wing (yuck) one piece of fried fish, fried shrimp and steamed shrimp. He said something like, go ahead and knock out the crab legs, put us out of business. We did give him a tip of 2 dollars but I think that was 3 too many. My first and last time eating there, also noticed that they didn’t have much business.

Review: We had been to Myrtle Beach the past 2 summers and went to other seafood buffets and looked for a new one this time. We found Capt. George's after reading other reviews. Yes, it is still a seafood buffet, however the atmosphere and ambience is that of a regular restaurant. We were there in the end of August so it was not as busy as it may have been in July but still full. There was a good variety of food, choices for anyone. The dessert bar was just as large. My 3 year old loved it all! I liked the idea of having 2 waiting lines for groups. Also having the crab legs on a separate bar was good planning. We will be back again and recommend it!!!! there are discounts at different times and coupons in all the beach books.

Review: We choose this restaurant due to the great review's. I was very disapionted. I am a fish a seafood lover and had a hard time finding anything good on the buffet. Out of the 50 things on the buffet I could only find a handfull of things that were tasty. Not worth the $$ I would recommend the Bonefish Grill if you are looking for some good seafood in Myrtle Beach.

Review: I went on 8/26 with my parents when vacationing in Myrtle Beach. This place is OUTSTANDING with it's various seafood showcased in the buffets as well as the customer service of it's waiters (particularly of Steve and Michelle). If I am blessed to vacation with my parents to MB next year WE ARE HEADING BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!! I will also recommend this place to other folks going to MB as well!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Review: My husband and I have not eaten at the resturant in Myrtle Beach ...YET.. we are headed there in Sept 2009. We have however made a special trip to the VA Beach location and when I say special trip I mean it. We live in Pennsylvania! The food is amazing and the service is great as well. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with Cap George's! I would and have recommended this resturant to everyone!

Review: I am from seafood country and was not as excited about the food here as I thought i'd be.the service was great and the decor beautiful but the cuisine was more that of a fine dining establishment than of a typical myrtle beach seafood house.the food was slightly over-priced to me...we had a party of two adults and two small children and our bill was $140 including tip(no alcoholic beverages,just dinner and sodas).i didn't feel that the food warranted such a high price-i've had better seafood on the grand strand a lot cheaper......

Review: My husband and I were told by my husband's friend to try Captain George's on our vacation to Myrtle Beach last week. We did and the food was wonderful. Needless to say we loved it. It is a little pricy, but that is seafood for ya. We have family members leaving today for Myrtle Beach, so I called right away to tell them that they had to eat there. We didn't find anything to complain about. We sure will dine there again and we can't wait to take the rest of our family!!!

Review: Fantastic food and excellent service by Mike M. Go there and ask for him. We have never been here before,asked around and was told this place was good. It is better than good. All the food was fresh,we went at 3pm on Wed 8/5 and Mike M was a wonderful waiter. He treated us better than any restaurant we have been to and traveled from the south end of Miami Dade County Florida. We have visited some very expensive restaurants on our trip and this was the best so far! The crab legs were big and they even had steamed clams! Bathrooms were spotless too. These people have their act together! Thanks so much, we will spread the word you have excellent food and excellent service. Give that young man Mike M a management position!!!

Review: There are A LOT of seafood buffets in Myrtle Beach. But the preponderence of the restaurant reviews I read seem to allude that the more nautical the place looked, the worse the food was. We played it safe and went with Capt. George's. They have one in our home town of VA beach, and it is always good. The Myrtle Beach one was just as good, with a very good selection of fried, raw and steamed seafood. The acid test -- The Crab Legs -- yielded large, easy to peel and flavorful meat. The land lubber selections were good, particualrly the blackened pork. My wife said the desserts were really good too, but I had no room. Our server Josh was extremely competent and very friendly. I've been to bad seafood buffets -- I guess the only gripe (from my wife) is the price ($150 with tip for 4 - with the coupon) and the fact that we could have stayed home and ate there.

Review: We ate here the week of 7/20/09. We chose this place after carefully reading all the reviews of the seafood buffets on this website and we made the best choice, this place is awesome!! The inside of the place is very upscale for a buffet place, took no time at all to be seated. They have 2 lines, one for small parties and one for parties of 6 ( i think ) which is a great idea. If you dont find something on this buffet you like, then you are nuts! They had everything, even mac n cheese and it was terrific!! I had some baked tuna, mahi mahi, some salmon and all was wonderful! they have many delicious deserts to choose from too! My husband ate about 4 plates of the crablegs, he said they were awesome! You must go here if you are looking for an awesome buffet with truly delicious food!

Review: SUPER! We are NC natives so we frequent MB yearly and like everyone else fall victim to the over priced disgusting buffets! Well not this year, prior to our trip I stayed on this site for hours reading reviews trying to decipher the disgruntled customer from the genuine people. We went with CGSR and WILL be going back yearly. Our family of 4 (2 yr old, 12 yr old, me and hubby) ate for 88.00 on a Sunday night (drinks included)....Ok if you can't find what you are looking for here you are BLIND. The raw oysters were TO DIE FOR, my hubby laughed they were gonna kick him out for eating so many. They have 3 trays of Crablegs hot and they keep them coming non stop. Their fried scallops & oysters were awesome, not too much breading. They have 2 different seafood casseroles one was ok and the other was fantastic it had real crab meat it in and tasted like a crab cake but with a cheesy topping SO good! They also had Ahi Tuna, Blackened Mahi Mahi, boiled shrimp...& Oh the small clams!!!! They were SOOOOO good, they were cooked in a scampi type sauce and just melted in your mouth, the larger clams were just steamed. They also had mussels with a spicy sauce that were great too. Big secret~> There are 2 lines 1 line for parties of 4 or less (wayyyyy shorter) and another line for parties of 6 or more. We waited less than 2 minutes to be seated and our waiter JOSH was awesome, emptying our 'scrap bowls' as fast as we could fill them and refilled our drinks always. My husband apologized for drinking so much so he brought him 2 teas..lol...hey it gets hot down there. I know some people have had great experiences here and other maybe not so great but I am here to state my honest opinions after visiting several others (Sea Trawler, Benjamins, Giant Crab) that we think Captain Georges is by far the best, food wise, and service wise, and Oh the BEST part, a lady goes around making balloon animals for the kids!! We came home on the 14th and my toddlers turtle is still kicking. Georges also has 5 dollars off if you come before 4pm!!! Please try it!!

Review: While on previous vacations in Virginia Beach we visited Captain Georges Resturant and were hooked. We were delitghed to discover a Captain Georges in Myrtle Beach while on vacation there. Captain Georges Resturant is a very important part of our vacation experience. We are planning on dinning at CG's this year as well. The seafood is excellent! The other meats and side dishes are yummy. I try to get a little bit of everything but it is impossible because there is so much on the buffet. It is a feast for the eyes and delight for your mouth. The price is consistent with other seafood buffets in other states as well.The difference with CG's and other seafood buffets is that CG's beats them all because of taste and variety. There is something for everyone's taste. Did I mention the desserts? Where else but in America could you get such a great deal and have confidence in the quality and cleanliness. Aren't we so blessed?

Review: Every time I come to Myrlte Beach I have to eat at Captain George's. The food is excellent, the seafood is especially wonderful, and the friendly staff is the same. The price is a little steep but not outrageous. Because I usually get there early, the time to be seated isn't bad. And on an ending note, I think Captain George's made a wonderful gesture of kindness by putting some of the state employee's meals on the house during the fires.

Review: What a waste of money. We had heard great things about Captain George's. I was on the verge of anger when I left after my dad and I had dinner (I also had a lemonade). Somebody forgot to put crab in the crab cakes, the scallops were actually sticky and gummy, the fried shrimp were way undercooked, the roast beef, er....prime rib as they labeled it was dry and tasteless, and I could go on and on. It is because of Captin George's we have decided to never go to another seafood buffet in Myrtle Beach. WAY overpriced and the food honestly is not that good. Even the desserts left a lot to be desired. IT is sad when I can say that the best items I had on the buffet were the cut watermelon and the frozen custard. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Review: I always come to Captain G's SF Restaurant everytime we vacation in Myrtle Beach. Having tried the other Capt. G's restaurant in VA beach, this one is one of the better seafood restaurant in the area. The price is on par with just about all other seafood rest. you go to, especially the ones with crab legs. As with every seafood buffet rest. you will find something you like and something not to your liking. But over all the food was exceptional and above average, as with the atmosphere and ambience. The service depends on who your server is, but keep in mind that they are there just to bring you the drinks, taking drink orders and removing empty plates, so don't expect first class service. Review: I have eaten at this restaurnt one other time it was excellent then and is still very good! We went early around 4pm I would recommend going between 3 and 4 , they are not busy yet and all the food is fresh, you definitely get your money's worth here. The crab legs and peel and eat shrimp were the best, the salad was very fresh, stuffed mushrooms and maui was good also the rest of the seafood was very good. A few things on bar were luke warm, that or I had to much on my pl ate and it was warm when I got to it stick to the seafood! My son says the pork chops were good , desserts were great but kind of pricey but if you are going to do a seafood buffet while you are at myrtle beach this is the one to try! Well worth the money.

Review: Come On! Its an all you can eat restaurant. And its GOOD!Our first experience at Capt. George's Seafood Restaurant was in 2006, for a family reunion dinner, and we have returned yearly since when on vacation. The quality,selection,and portions of food were and remain good. Cleanliness, service and atmosphere were also good. The price was fair for the market value. At the time we were residents of Pennsylvania and have since moved to SC. As compared to "All You Can Eat seafood venues in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Baltimore, Md., We find Capt. Georges on par if not better than most. For an "All You Can Eat Buffet, and remember folks thats what it is, to us it is better than Red Lobster (which we detest), and basically for eating out, as good as Phillips, Mccormick and Schmicks and the Chart House Restaurants, where you are basically paying for name brand. If its "upscale you want, try "Fodor's or Zagats's" for example to get a restaurant review. And by the way, everytning that glitters isnt gold there either...wink ...wink. But, for a basic family style seafood menu moderetly inexpensive all you can eat outting, Capt. Georges is just fine. Everytime we go to Myrtle Beach, Capt. Georges is a definate stop to eat. Given the cost ($110.00 + ) for my husband, two daughters, and I), it's almost given the same attention as visiting an attraction. Better than Capt. Benjamins Calabash, and not too dissimilar than Dixie Stampede or Medieval Times. Given that fact that its seafood which is always more expensive, and the elimination of a show, for $30-$40 more. Were there any changes to be made to the menu, I would suggest maybe the desserts could be paid a little more attention to. But then again for the venue I'm not expecting "Tiara Misu, Marzipan or Cannoli" either. Capt. Georges is a definate go to in my opinion. Just keep things in perspective. Over all we give it a four and a half star. Kudos to management and staff !

Review: Trusting what your getting on vacation is important to experience a good vacation. I went CGSR in Viriginia Beach and enjoyed it. The one in Myrtle Beach showed that this chain is consistent in quality and service. I went on my arrival and the seafood is excellant (especailly if you like crab legs,mussels,and clams). My family wanted to go for seafood again later in our vacation, and we decided to back again. Their are enough different items on their buffet to create a different dining experience,but if you like crab legs you can't miss (especilly if you go for early bird and get $3.00 person). If you read any bad experiences on this site it was probably during busy times which any good buffet of the quality of CGSR experiences. Show up early and you'll love it.

Review: Me, my husband, and two daughters ate here June of 08. The food was not quite what I expected. We spent around $100.00 and we left hungry. I know some people read these reviews and think what a negative person, but I really want to warn these people who work hard for their hard earned money to have a nice vacation to be slightly ruined by a dining experience that's waaaayyy overpriced for what they promise to deliver. Review: I love steammed clams (big and small)... they had plenty of perfectly cooked, hot clams ready. Plus there was tons of crab legs (alittle over cooked). The dessert bar was good (could use fewer cakes - maybe a pie or two). The salad was good/above average. The rest was good - some things were better than others. Review: I've been to Myrtle Beach three times in the past two years and going again next week. Captain George is on my list for Sunday dinner every time. My husband had been there many years before and enjoyed it so took me when we went. It is absolutely the best out of any restaurant I've been too... buffet or otherwise. We budget for our Captain George meal as we usually do not spend this much to eat out. It is worth EVERY penny! The food is always delicious, plentiful and attractive. We are early people so we've never had to wait for a table...but by the time we leave the place is filling up. It is fabulously clean, staff is friendly, and the seafood is the best I've ever had anywhere. I've never been disappointed by this place... Review: This was the worst dining experience I have ever had in Myrtle Beach! They do not use real SEA-FOOD on the buffet. Except for the tiny dirty shrimp. All the fried foods are obviously deep fried in the same grease. The prime rib was certainly not prime meat! It tasted like overseasoned processed roast beef. I don't know where they got the shrimp, it was so dirty looking even through the battered coating. The ribs were clearly put into the chaffing dish in water to steam and toped with barbeque sauce. The Norfold seafood dish had all imitation seafood except for the dirty shrimp.The salad bar had brown lettuce, and yellow looking blue cheese dressing. The crab imperial was stuffing with fake crab meat in it. As for the deserts, the banana pudding had not one slice of banana and was so stiff and aweful tasting. I would not recommend this over-priced- imitation seafood buffet restaurant to anyone!

Review: This is the ONLY seafood buffet I will eat at. Main reason is because it is so CLEAN! Other buffets are loaded with dust hanging off of ALL the displays, carpeting is dirty, and the bathrooms leave much to be desired. Captain Georges offers a nice variety of seafood and American foods. Their tables are readily filled and fresh! Service is great also. Review: Capt. Georges, A definite winner in all categories. I was at the one in Williamsburg Va. and we totally enjoyed ourselves. In that one there are people dresses up in period style clothing and speaking the kings English. It is one of my favorite places to eat as far as vacationing and eating at all-u-can-eat places. Review: I have eaten seafood all over the USA and up and down the east coast from Maine to key West, many times over. As far as Seafood Buffets are concerned this is in the top 3 best seafood buffets i have ever eaten at any where. I have been to this one twice and 3 times to the one in Williamsburg Va. I am picky and never had any problems. The sea scallops were always excellent and big, crab legs great, shrimp fine. soups the best. salad stuff nice and cold, deserts very good. The place is Beautiful inside and the Buffet is Beautiful!! I'll give you unhappy people an important tip. In any resturant they may use the food that was left over from the day before. so don't get to a buffet when it first opens and don't get to a buffet in the hour before it closes for they may not refill the pans. I always go between 4pm to maybe 7pm that way i know there making it fresh and keeping it stocked!

Review: We absolutely loved this place! We did go early (4:45) based on some of the reviews and got seated right away. We had also read about "coupons" being available but hadn't been able to find any. When we got there, I asked my waiter about the coupon and he was able to find one for us and give us the discount. I thought that was great. The Crab legs were wonderful! Review: This was my wife and I's first time here. Wasn't sure to go or not based upon the reviews of some. Quality of the food was very good as we had crab legs & shrimp mostly. Service was very good considering the restaurant was crowded at the time. It took us about 15-20 minutes to be seated but as I said we got there in the evening and it was already crowded. Atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and was nicely decorated however the noise level at times was bothersome. I think the value for the money is only average as it is kind of pricey. Review: This trip marks our Eighth time eating at Captain Georges. The only way to describe this restaurant is to say, everything you eat will be the best you have ever had it. If you try the She Crab Soup, it will be the best She Crab Soup you have ever eaten. If you try the crab casserole it will be the best crab casserole you’ve ever had. Review: I am not really a seafood lover, but the experience of going to Captain George's was amazing! The food was excellent, and while there was a little wait to be seated, they kept us moving. Our waiter was attentive and personable.

What really drove it home was when I got some fried shrimp from the buffet that were on the poor side (kind of rubbery and soggy). I told the waiter about it, and he informed the kitchen staff. He returned about ten minutes later with a heaping platter of fresh fried shrimp that were AMAZING, and the chef himself was in tow to ask if they were better. Everybody makes mistakes, but this is a place that will bend over backwards to make it right if they do make one.

Review: We have been to this restaurant every time we come to Mrytle Beach. It is one of the things we look forward to. The food is always excellent and so is the service. My husband gets crab legs also and the only complaint there is that it is hard to keep enough on the bar since they go so fast.

The atmosphere is great.It reminds me of the sea and is very pleasant. It is a bit noisy,but I don't know of any place that isn't really. We have been pleased every time we have went. We do go early--around 4:00 usually. That seems to be a good time for us. The service has always been good for us,and we are coming back to the beach the end of this month and coming there is a definite--maybe twice during our weeks stay.

Review: Ive never wrote one of these before but I feel like I have to! The first time I went to Captain Georges in 2007, everything was great so I took my family there just last week only to be severely dissappointed. It was the worst dining experience we have ever had. There were parasites on the crab legs - extremely visible. It caused my mom to become sick. Most of the food on the bar was cold including the tilapia and salmon. The manager came to our table but did not apologize and actually brought one of the parasites and sat it right in front of me. He told me that it was naturally occurring and not to be distubed- but they were parasites- just dead ones. The manager should have offered us a discount but he was incredibly uncaring, inefficient and unapologetic for our bad experience. The next night we went to Friendly's - no place special, but we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food and without hesitation the manager came over and not only gave us a discount but gave my parents free dessert! Now that is a good manager - we will return to Friendlys again and again, but never Georges! We are warning everyone to take their service elsewhere when they want a crab leg buffet!

Review: We spent the week here, early into our vacation we tried Benjamins, which was "ok", then at the end of our stay we stopped by to eat at Captain Georges. For the money spent on the buffets Captain Georges is the first place we should have visited. Review: My family is going back to Myrtle Beach in June and I wanted to make sure I remembered the fantastic seafood buffet we went to. Our 1st visit in 2006 we went to Giant Crab, Captn Benjamans and Captain Georges(someone told us about this one and we had coupons for all 3). We were then going to go back to the one we liked the best(This was a scientifically conducted culinary experiment). Giant Crab and Benjaman's were good, but the unanimous winner was Captain Georges(and my wife and daughter LOVE crab). Everything was stocked well and we like to go early(3pm, and I recommend going as early as possible to 1) use coupons, saves money 2) not waste time in lines, saves time 3) You can then do other things in the evening to work off the big meal, saves your waistline) to avoid the crowds. Besides the abundant seafood, there was a landlubber's bounty also. I looked at the desserts, but didn't try any of them, I figured, get the seafood while I can, I live in Kansas City. Overall, if you are going to go to only 1 seafood buffet, this is the one to go to. We're going to hit it twice (at least) while we're there.

Review: The night we went the food was poor and looked awful. We waited on the server to ask us how our food was and they never asked. There was very little seafood and just was not appealing. To top it off the Desert bar was empty and stayed that way. I contacted the website aout the food and was called by a manager, he left a message. I tried for a week to get back in touch with him, then when I did I was given the runaround and said he would check with other people that worked that night and then contact me. He never contacte me, which I expected. Also it is my opinion that counts not the employees. Really poor - not recommended.

Review: Our family had the buffet and we were all very displeased with the quality of the food offered. It was far from being worth what we had to pay. Everything was cold.The cakes on the dessert bar were dry. I had a piece of the Blackened Pork that I could not even cut with my knife. Review: The place was Great. The waiter was terrible. He did not refill our tea and water but one time. That is after we looked for Him. Then he was rude and put a tip of 28.00 on our bill. I am a firm believer in tipping but not when we served ourselves the whole night. It was my parents 50th wedding anniverary and He ruined the whole night. Review: OMG. I have never been to a seafood buffet as great as this one. It was my first time to myrtle beach. Review: THE BEST BUFFET IN MYRTLE BEACH!! We came here on our last day on a recommendation by friends, and so I was hesitant going in (and I am a super-critical person by nature). However, this is the absolute BEST buffet at Myrtle Beach (and I've eaten at all kinds of Myrtle Beach restaurants for 30+ years). Now that I've been here, I will not go to any other Myrtle Beach buffet restaurant - I'll go here twice during my vacation week. My description won't even come close to conveying just how GREAT this place is, but I'll try: It has all the seafood you could possibly want (crab legs, broiled/fried/baked shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, oysters, mussels, etc., crawfish, soups, seafood casseroles) plus a lot of other meats (chicken, prime rib, etc.) and pasta. Everything - even the HUGE stock of crab legs - was cooked to perfection. I completely skipped the large assortment of veggies and salads and breads (which looked fabulous) so I could eat nothing but seafood. The dessert "room" had at least 12 different items to offer. We did not know the price going in, so we guessed, based on the quality, selection, and atmosphere, that it had a fair value of $40 per person - BUT it is ONLY $25 per person!! Plus, there are $2-3 coupons in ALL the Myrtle Beach guides, coupon books, etc. $25 (we paid $23 per person) is the same price as all the other "big" buffet restaurants, and those others offer food, atmosphere, quality, quantity, etc. that is not nearly as good. Our waiter had several tables - including a party of 20 - but he kept up with us every few minutes - he did a great job. The design of the very, very long buffet area is that of an intricate sailboat, and it is beautiful. We cannot think of anything bad to say about our experience there. Even the restrooms were nicely furnished and spotless! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAPTAIN GEORGE'S!!

Review: We went to Captain George's based on a recommendation of friends who had eaten there before. We arrived early, and were seated immediately. The atmosphere is by far the best of any restaurant we visited. Each of the buffets looked like giant treasure ships. All of the food was of the highest quality, and was hot, fresh, and quickly replaced. The desserts were of the highest quality I've ever seen on a buffet. This buffet is EXPENSIVE, but it is worth it. The only complaint I have is that crab legs are already included. I am allergic to crab, and my father doesn't eat seafood, so we felt that we didn't truly get our money's worth. There is a large variety of seafood not offered on other buffets (such as crayfish). There are coupons in some of the magazines to save $2. If you are considering a buffet, this is the one to choose. It was a 20 minute drive Barefoot Resort where we stayed, but was absolutely worth it. A word to the wise...if you want to go here and eat without a wait, go EARLY. By the time we left the restaurant, there was already a line all the way out the door and around the side of the building. And this was July, which is considered the off season in Myrtle Beach. Try to dine before 6 pm, by 5 for the shortest wait time.

Review: My husband and I ate at Captain George's with my family on an October 2006 trip to Myrtle Beach. I am not a seafood buffet fan myself because usually everything tastes the same and is fried. Captain George's was a definite exception to the rule. Most of the foods were not fried and each had a deliciously distinct and fresh taste. The Mahi Mahi was outstanding. We usually go to Benjamins Calabash on our first night here but thought we would try someplace new. What a mistake. The entire section was otherwise empty. I started to worry at that point, and it went down hill form there. Crab legs were like rubber, fried clams were like pieces of plastic, broccoli tasted funny, potatoes were overcooked and cold, pork was so overcooked I gave up when I tried to stick a fork in it. Three of the staff almost ran into, too busy with what they were doing to notice the customers. I even heard a woman at another table complain. To give credit where it was due, our waiter was very nice, the building was nice, and the olny thingI enjoyed were the rolls. They were the only item I food I found to be very good. For $25 a plate, you would alos expect to have a carving bar. Instead, you get prime ribs scraps in a tray. We all have opinions, but if 5 or 6 are bad, it would be a good idea to choose another place.

Review: I do not eat seafood, my husband does. I promised him an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet during our vacation to Myrtle Beach and I dreaded it. However, Captain George's was definitely a great choice. It does not smell like seafood, the atmosphere is pleasant and the buffets are made to look like sailboats! The buffet is $26 and my husband loved everything on his plates. After the waitress warned me that Captain George's is "not known for its steaks", I opted for the Vegetable Platter ($12.95) and was very satisfied. I would definitely go again.

Review: My family found the restaurant to be a big dissapointment. A place like Captains George's, you would think would have some seafood. There was some tiny fried breaded scallops, some dried up broiled flounder, mushy baked salmon, tasteless shrimp, and old baked oysters. There were crab legs which we found to be the only thing we could say that we were o.k. with, but overall they were average. The food was luke warm at the buffet, some cold. The dessert bar we found to be o.k., the only thing worth the try was the cheese cake, cherry cobbler, and the orange fruit slices. For the price, it was ridiculous. If you are a vegetarian, you would like this restaurant. Plenty of vegetable items. Alot of none seafood items, I guess to fill the space of having hardly any seafood. We will never visit this restaurant again. We ended up at Taco Bell, only two hours later.

Review: I've been here twice before and I've posted on this site. Both times it was excellent, I guess the third time is a charm. We walked in after 8 PM on a Thursday evening. That was our first mistake. It was clear when we approached the buffet that they were done bringing out fresh food. Though we were one of the last groups to enter fo the evening, there was still a good crowd in the area. Most of the food was dry and had been sitting, the only fresh thing I saw come out was were stuffed mushrooms which I can get anywhere. Even the acclaimed dessert bar was picked over. I sensed it wouldn't be good because of the timing, now I know. Still, they shouldn't charge $25 after 8PM if that's the case. It was worth 5 dollars if. I should of said something but that's not me, I have class and instead will verbalize it. I will not return as there are so many other places. If u want real seafood go to a place that's small, homey and off the beaten path. Anything that says oyster/raw bar is good and there are plenty. Don't be afraid of the title, most of these places have a full menu and bar. I felt so bad I payed for everyone. The one good thing, it's by far the cleanest buffet on the strand and the services was so so, but even it's been better!

Review: Ive read over the comments because I wanted to hear what people are saying about this restaurant. Some people complained the crab legs are to salty but Capt Georges doesnt salt them, they come from salt water and the deeper they come from make them salty. The people who complained about Capt Georges changing the credit card tip amounts are absolutely stupid. Your credit card company holds 20 percent extra of the bill, because most people tip around that amount, after 2 or 3 business days it will go away, so instead of choosing a new restaurant or callling them frauds, you should look into getting a new credit card company. And the timeshare people. Yes they can be annoying but they buy hundreds of thousands of dollars in gift certificates so you will continue to see them. Just tell them you're not interested and will not be persuaded. However they do offer money to come out to see their sites and you do really get the money, so whatever amount they offer you will get, the more you hold out the more money they will offer, i think up to like 90 or 100 bucks per couple. Hopefully everyone will have a great visit next time you visit one of the Capt Georges but if not just give them another chance.

Review: I visited Williamsburg, Va., a few years back and were recommended to Capt. George's. We were very impressed, great food and great value. I travelled to Myrtle Beach several years ago and stumbled upon a Capt. George's. What a great surprise! I talked my golf party of TWENTY into going there (I was the newst member of the group) and they absolutely LOVED it! We have made it a staple of our annual trips and I am looking forward to dining there again in only three weeks! You must go every time you travel to Myrtle Beach!!!

Review: We visited the restaurant today for lunch with two friends. The restaurant opened at noon and we were there for 12.30. It was populated sparsely. The range of dishes was excellent but the food had been cooked many hours previously and, perhaps, even re-heated from the previous day. It was not cold but too cool to enjoy. The price of some $25 per person we found extortionate and we would not have stayed had we not had a coupon for $50. Even so, it cost another $60. Review: We love the food, and it was excellent! We have a problem with their credibility. We called them ahead of time, from Ohio, and specifically asked if they were going to be open for Christmas day. We were told yes, absolutely. They also informed another person who lives in Myrtle beach, (and they asked on the 20th of Dec) that they were going to be open. Two lies, to two different people. We called because that is where we looked forward to going the most, and were So very disappointed to find they were closed for Christmas Eve AND christmas day! Very poor public relationship.

Review: Captain George's Seafood Restaurant is an excellent place to eat and enjoy seafood. The food setup is awesome. The only complaint I have is that Captain George's doesn't serve oysters, and I love oysters!

Captain George's Seafood Restaurant is by far the best seafood place in Myrtle Beach. My family and I eat there at least twice a month.

Tomorrow night approximately twelve of us will dine in for another great dinner. Do you have any available coupons that we can get?

Review: Update: On a return visit to Captain George's on our last evening in Myrtle Beach this year, we found the food was still quite good, and the other ratings remained the same, except for the noise level, which was somewhat lower. They seated us in the upper level area, a bit farther from the buffet, but only by a few steps.

The crab legs were still a bit salty, which may have been the reason they appeared a bit more dry than some other restaurants offer. Grabbing the legs in the middle of the stack (not in the water on the bottom of the pan, and not on top) helped to moderately alleviate this problem.

The other seafood was very good, and the other items were quite unremarkable (I never try the pasta at these places - I prefer real Italian food in a real Italian restaurant. or home-cooked). The desserts were also very good.

As for the timeshare hucksters, there were two of them as we left after dinner. One started to offer $75.; we continued walking out and completely ignored them. Had he persisted, I would have deployed the method of response that I espoused here a few evenings ago ;). This was not necessary as my lovely and gracious wife and I jumped into the Jeep and headed out.

Review: OK... here's the deal. The food there is excellent, as it has been during every visit we have made there.

We were just there last evening and will go back before we leave for home.

The service is excellent, and the waiting time was very short (get there at 4 PM and bring the coupon!).

About the timeshare sales, people need to just ignore them, similar to when you receive a telemarketing phone call - just hang up (unless you really need somebody to talk with). The timeshare woman approached us last evening, asking how long we were staying in MB; I told her we were leaving tomorrow and promptly walked away. Had she persisted, I would have grabbed my inner thigh with my right hand and told her, "I got yer timeshare right here..... share this!" Hey, maybe if everybody did this to those peeps, we could start the Captain George's Anti-Timeshare Movement. OK, everybody.... right hand on right inner thigh (left hand on left side for those of you southpaws)... let's git 'er done......

Review: My husband and I had visited Captain George's in Williamsburg, VA. and looked forward when we could eat there again. This past week-end we were in Myrtle Beach and ate at Captain George's. Our bill was $58.01 which I put on my debit card. My husband left a $10 tip on the table, when I checked my bank statement, they had added an additional $11.00 charge to my debit card. Needless to see I am not a happy camper ! I'm not sure this is even legal, but I plan to find out !

Review: We go to Myrtle Beach several times a year and eat at both buffetts and full service restaurants. My wife had been trying to get me to try Captain George's so we did in Sept. 2005 (I had dragged my feed due to the high cost).

The food was good, no crowd. I paid with a credit card, but found out when the bill arrived today that either the server or the restaurant raised our tip amount by $2.00. We normally tip 10-12% for buffets, where all the server does is bring water and the bill, 15-20% for full service (our bill was $47, I tipped $5.00). I was highly insulted that someone woud do that in a restaurant that big. We will never go back. There are too many other honest restaurants in Myrtle to choose from.

Review: I ate at this restaurant three years ago and it was excellent.

However, my visit this time was horrible. I felt like I was robbed since my husband and I paid over $60 for food that was not even warm. Everything on my husband's plate was cold. We felt that the manager should have given us a discount or something - instead he gave the excuse that the temperature in the restaurant was just cold.

The previous night we ate at a restaurant that was freezing and my food was piping hot.

We paid less than $40 for dinners at other restaurants the other two nights we were in Myrtle Beach and those meals were excellent.

We have decided to never eat at this restaurant again - even if someone else paid for the meal.

Review: My husband I just returned from Myrtle Beach today. We travel there once a year. We have visited Captain George's there many times over the last few years.

Last time there, my daughter got sick and we assumed that she ate too much "rich" food.

This year we saved this restaurant for last and we are sooo disappointed. We ate there last evening, 9/23/2005.

The crab legs were awful and the scallops were very over done. The shrimp were mushy and had NO flavor at all.

A table beside us complained and they were brought out fresh crab legs and they were just as bad and really had a BAD odor.

I have eaten at many of the buffets in Myrtle Beach and highly recommend that you skip this one!!!

I know that was my last visit.

Review: We decided to eat at Captain George's after all of the great reviews with high expectations. The restaurant was very nice and clean and the employees were friendly. Now here comes the shock: the food was awful. The crab legs were very dry; the meat once cracked would not slide out of the shell, and what we did eat just didn't taste good. We even waited for them to put out another batch but they were all the same. There was a large selection of food, but it was not good. Everything tasted bland. Thought we would hit the dessert bar but it was equally bad although the cheesecake was good. With a party of five everybody agreed this would be our first and LAST visit.

Review: The food was great, the service was excellent, but I will not return. Why? When "trying " to leave this restaurant we were "held up" by an overzellous time share lady. If they want to post a sign about timeshares I have no problem but when you are "kidnapped" this is overkill. Review: This was me & my mom's 1st time at Captain George's & I have to say that it was the most enjoyable time that we both have had at a restaurant in a long time. The buffet had every kind of seafood you could think of & the desserts we superb. Review: Great Food!!! Previously a buffet snob, the quality of this food is much better than some of those so called "upscale" dinning experiences. Everything was cooked just right, the stuffed mushrooms were out of this world just to name one item. Also, there isn't a lot of filler on the buffet it's almost all seafood, and you feel like you got what you came for. Review: I have visited the Captain George's in Virginia Beach and the experience was absolutely awesome with exception of the wait. I expected the buffet to be the same as the first experience but was a bit dissappointed. There were no prime rib steak, gobs & gobs of fruit, any type of seafood known of and the side bar was not enormous.For the money it should be a larger variety of foods. We had to ask for a server after sitting for about 20 minutes, but after recieving her...the service was great.

Review: I have been traveling to SC annually for years and have never been to a buffet in Myrtle Beach with such quality as Capt. George's. I absolutely love this place!!!! I didn't want to eat anywhere else during my stay. The price is well worth the it. The service is outstanding and the variety of food is like none other in Myrtle Beach. No matter what time we went, we never had to wait. This is definitely not your average buffet style restaurant. I can't wait to go back there again.

Review: Without a doubt the best buffet in Myrtle Beach! Very clean and friendly w/a mammoth and diverse variety of seafood. This place has the best fried scallops anywhere! The building and layout itself is impressive w/a huge dining area. Capt. Georges also has the largest dessert bar of any buffet I've seen. A little pricey but this place definitely separates itself from the rest. I return there atleast one time a trip when I'm in the area ( 5 times that I can remember) and I still haven't sampled everything.

Review: I kept driving by wondering if I should take the turnoff and sample this great looking eatery. It was well worth it. Cleanest and friendliest restuarant if not buffet on the Beach. If you think prices are high then you almost never visit other resorts in North America. Well worth the slightly higher than average MB prices. But , remember you are getting quality , even better than most sit down restaurants.

Review: Capt. George's is the best place to eat in Myrtle Beach! We ate there the first night in town and wished we had gone back the other nights. None of the other seafood buffets match the quality of food, service and cleanliness that you get at Capt. George's. It's also a kid friendly place. Our daughter was five when we went and she wanted to go back to Capt. George's each night. She liked the food and they also had a clown walking around making balloon animals for a $1 tip. They made my child happy therefore they made me happy. Some may think the price is high...eat there before you decide that it's too high. Once you compare it to the other seafood buffets in town, you will realize it is well worth the money.

Review: This place is absolutely fantastic. If you love seafood as much as I do, and you're going to be in the area, you can't afford to miss this opportunity. The food is fantastic and even the hungriest person could never sample all of the wonderful choices. The service is beyond anything I've ever seen in even the fanciest sit down restaurants. We always leave saying that we wish everywhere we ate had such wonderful servers. The restaurant is a little pricey, but not considering all that you get in return. We priced a number of buffets near the ocean and they weren't even close to the same quality and were only a little bit less expensive. Definitely try it!!!

Review: a little pricey, but it's not your normal seafood buffet either...this place is very nice inside, very clean, and the food layout is great. It's an awesome place if you like crablegs, mussels, etc., because they have the shellfish bar seperate from the regular items, and the crab legs are the best I've ever eaten anywhere. If you can afford to splurge a little, it's well worth it.
