The quality of the food is not consistant. Last Oct, the first time we ordered, the food was very good. Two nights later, the food was not good at all. In May of 2010, we ordered food for 6 people in our family, expecting a great seafood meal.
The food we got was all overcooked, the shrimp & oysters were hard and almost in-edible. When we complained, we were told that the regular cook was off that night and the food would be better the next night. We spent over $80.00 for food that wasn't fit for dogs to eat. We go to Cherry Grove 2 or 3 times a year and this is the WORST seafood we have ever had. We will never go back to Berry's.

Not only is this a little resturant, but it is a great place to buy fish, crabs, clams and most of all Steamers. Those are Northern clams with a tail. You can't find them in South Carolina much and this store gets them often. They are so fresh also. Lobster, shrimp, steamers a great Lobster bake. Glade we Berry's when we moved here 7 years ago. ref: 18900

We recently moved here from CT. We always went to Ocean City MD for steamed crabs in Oct. The crabs at Berry's are the BEST!! They steamed them while we waited and put extra old bay on them as well, very Maryland style. You can't beat the prices compared to other so called MD steamed crabs. Their shrimp and sea food is as fresh as you are going to get it. The fried items never taste "fishy." The staff is very accomodating and the prices are very reasonable. We only buy our fresh seafood at Berry's. Our friends are hooked too. The operating hours are great for late night "snacks." ref: 16571

Awesome experience!!! We ordered steamed shrimp, fried shrimp, fried grouper and crab legs and all of it was absolutely delicious!! Me and my husband ate at a quaint little table inside the market and totally enjoyed our experience! William the proprietor was extremely helpful and friendly! Came in from a round of golf and had our condo reps recommend this place. There were right on! We ordered a couple pounds of fresh shrimp and had it steamed there. Man, it was good. Best tasting shrimp I have had. It was so good we are packing now and planning on being there at 8:30am when they open in the morning to carry home some to cook at our place! Not an ambience, but at a fresh seafood place, thats not what I want.. I want fresh shrimp!! ref: 15200

Berry's is not really a restaurant but provides excellent seafood. We've relied on Berry's to provide us with seafood when we come to the beach -- or to take back when we get ready to leave -- for years and years. They have a cooked menu as well now and all we've tried has been great. Get them to cook it and take it back to the condo to eat or for a picnic on the beach. A must try! ref: 13374

The food quality and quantity has gone down and there is a drastic increase in price, as well as the time you are told to pick up your order compared to how long you must wait additionally. The increase in price is as much as $3.00 per plate on some items. If you are getting food from here, make sure you have a current menu and price or at least ask with your order. Otherwise you might have several dollars more than anticipated in your total bill.
The sweet potato puffs that were included on plates were not there with our last two orders and are no longer listed as such.
All the advantages that Berry's had over other restaurants in the area (i.e. costs, food quality, quantity, time) are no longer a factor for our dining choice. ref: 13171

11/8/08 We have gotten food from Berry's several times, and we have always found the food fresh and delicious. We enjoy the laid back atmosphere and eating our great seafood back at Laguna Keyes overlooking the ocean. We enjoy Berry's as much or more than any restaurant--give it a try!!!! ref: 12360

We've been coming to Cherry Grove for years and missed one of the greatest treats at the beach! Who wants to go to one of those big buffet hog troughs when you can get fish this good and take it home with you? Lots of gourmet items in the store as well. Can't believe we missed it all these years!! Bad on us! Glad we finally tried it...it's our favorite seafood place now! ref: 11003

Take out only restuarant. Went there near closing time. The service at the seafood counter was excellent. My wife and I ordered the fried shrimp dinner. The breading was a little fishy (not too strong) and I suspect this was due to the fact I arrived just before closing and I am guessing something with a stronger fishy taste than shrimp had been cooked in the oil earlier in the day. Had I put a little lemon juice or cocktail sauce on my food, I probably would not have noticed. The price is very resonable ($7.99 for 1/2 lb of shrimp + fries). I might consider going back if I had some cocktail sauce or lemon juice and I was looking to have a quick seafood meal back at my hotel room. I really wish I could have tried cooking some of their food in fresh oil using a cornmeal batter. ref: 10474

We were surprised to find this place had cooked seafood since there's no advertisement. But we are glad we did. The flounder and shrimp were excellent. Knowing we can carry this back to the condo and enjoy a great meal is too good to pass up. This is one place we'll visit often.

Berry at nmb is wonderful, the fresh seafood is always great. The oysters are wonderful. They will take that extra step to help you with your needs. We made a special trip to nmb a day or two before xmas because we do fresh seafood for the xmas day event. We start off with she-crab soup then 2 hrs later we have boiled shrimp and crablegs then 2 hrs later we top off xmas with roasted oysters and clams. We also drink cocktails all day, thanks to berry's we have a wonderful xmas day. So if you want fresh and very good seafood try berry's. ref: 9480

This is a take-out market which we always take our food back to our condo anyway. We ate there the first week of Oct. '07. We had oysters and scallops, both were good. They are not heavily breaded so you can taste the seafood better. Even the french fries were great! The cost is way less than most of the popular eat-in resaurants. There is nothing fancy about the place but who cares as long as it's clean and food is good. Can't wait to eat there again when we go back. ref: 9055

After reading the reviews on this site, we ordered take out after arriving in MB. I was disappointed, as was the rest of my party. I think the hot foods, after being closed in those containers that are used for take out, steam within the box and become less crisp with decreased taste. ref: 8978

We ordered 2 platters, a fried oysters and fried scallops platter. They both were good especially the scallops...very lightly battered. The french fries were some of the best I've had, not dry and tough. Very fresh, just caught fish where we will gladly go there again for our meals. The only thing is....they are not very friendly but as long as the food is good we can forego the friendly chit-chat. ref: 8957

BEST seafood in the area and only available for take-out. Prices are unbelieveable and the food quality is fantastic. With call-in orders, the usual time is fifteen to twenty minutes, but well worth the wait. Their prices are about 1/2 or less of what you would pay at other restaurants for the same meal.
