Over priced! The seafood (I love baked fish, etc.) was like any buffet. Seemed like if you didn't eat crab legs it wasn't for you. Too pricey for the food.

Stay Away!!! Poor quality seafood, worse than Ryan's or Golden Coral. People come to the coast, they want fresh seafood not the Gordon's Fisherman. I've had better fried fish at Captain D's or Long John's Silvers.

We ate at this Bennett's on 5/10/12. Went at 4:30 p.m. to get early-bird rate using a $4 off per person coupon in tourist booklet -- look for it. This was a terrific value. Bennett's has 100 items or so -- salad bar, raw bar, soup (great clam chowder), many entrees, but just an OK dessert bar (but who needs it after all that food!). There was an incredible variety of seafood -- fried flounder and tilapia, clam strips, calamari, the best scallops I have ever eaten, crab cakes, shrimp cooked several ways, including pasta...so many choices. Add to that 2 or 3 different types of steaks, thick & juicy chicken strips, fried chicken, baked potatoes, cheesy-garlic biscuits...WISH I WERE THERE NOW! The sweet tea is just right. Service is prompt and with a ready smile. We plan to return on our next trip in September. Thank you, Bennett's!

This restaurant is beyond horrible. We went there last night for dinner. The food is terrible, the service is the worst I have ever seen and the atmosphere and decor is ugly and run down. The waitress was rude and lied to us when we asked her to explain the bill calculations. The have an interesting way of adding up the bill and taking on all kinds of extra charges!! Go to Captain George's instead. Way better !! This place is terrible. Don't go.

BE AWARE THEY CHARGE YOU AN EXTRA $4.00 FOR EACH DINNER THAT YOU TAKE THE KING CRAB FOR!! We were told 24.99 for the bar.... Crab is on the bar too. We were not told of this "Extra Charge" when we were seated at the table either, but was told of it on the menu, that we did not look at. This is about slimy as it comes, and shows that the owners of this place are just taking the tourists for a ride. I was going to raise a real stink over this, but then decided to let everyone know of this here on line. Most of the seafood on this bar too, is of the frozen type, none or little of it is fresh. So, beware of this too. The waitress was excellent. I did leave her a nice tip. When we were leaving, a gal there wanted to know if we were inclined to look at local properties under the "Bennett"

First and last visit to Calabash. We had the buffet and the Prime Rib and T-Bone Steaks were absolutely horrible. Overcooked and swimming in liquid on the steam table. My wife did feel the Crab Legs were good but everything else was of poor quality. The cost was over 25.00 each. Would never return and certainly would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

my wife and i came to this restaurant in august. i will be as honest as i can be about our experience. i am the executive chef of the chestnut tree restaurant in cherokee n.c., and all i can say is u need to hire me if you want to change your reviews. the food variety was plentiful but the food was poorly prepared and poorly presented. the owner of this establishment should come to cherokee on a friday night, and see my seafood buffet. i am very proud of the reviews that i have and think that i could turn this place into an award winning buffet as i did the one in cherokee. the atmosphe at bennets is perfect, you just need a chef that knows how to teach a team to cook seafood. everything we had was sevierly overcooked. i would love the opportunity to help this place be the best buffet in myrtle beach. my wife and i are coming back to myrtle on the 12th of sept. we will try u guys one more time hopefully you will be better.

OK so when we went in there's an employee sitting on the bench saying welcome. first the waitress wants to sit us in an already crowded section with no room to move(considering were at a buffet and will be getting up and down to eat) so were seated on the other side, fine. then were greeted by our server get up to go the food you smell this stinch from the waitress section, then get over to the food and it looks old, try to pick what look decent. sit down to eat and some of the food has a spoiled smell or it was hard because it was fried and had been sitting for a while. so in all i had a bad experience paid my money and know for sure will not go back will to take a 6mile trip north to the giant crab..same price way better service and food

I went here with my family back in Aug 09, Horrible service and the price of food was well not worth it. Our sever was the rudest person I have ever met and the management is rude as well. My 9 year old put his food on a plate and had gotten crab legs. When we sat down he wasn't hungry anymore he didn't touch his food so I asked it we could box it up and take it home or take it off the bill and she said no you will have to pay the full amount of 14 dollars and he cannot take it to go. After arguing with her she finally asked management and they agreed with him taking it to go but point blank she should have never argued with me and should have gotten management right away. Also to make it even worse I wasn't sure of the name or location and we are having a beach wedding and looking for restaurants so I called this location and they were so rude when I was trying to figure out buffett prices the man was foreign and I could barely understand him and he got rude with me I asked what are the children price buffett I said there ages varie from 2-10 he said I need a age hello I just gave you the ages all I can say they need to get some better customer service in there

Let me tell you of the horror we experienced at this place. As we got in the restaurant, the host pointed us to a table. We asked if we could be seated at another table which was empty and should have not been a problem. Oh what a mistake, it totally pissed her off for some reason or another. It was on from that point. As she took us to the table we requested she throw the napkins on the table. That got us started and we asked for the manager. He came to the table and it was totally clear that it was her husband or son. He just played it off, and said it didn't matter where we sat. They had long conversations on and off about us. We were totally amazed about the way they acted. There was a bright side to this horrible show performed by the both of them. The food was really good and our waitress was a charm. She tried to make up for their actions. This could not be done, but we truly admired her. We noticed that the manager seemed to be fussing at her at one point. I am sure he was upset because of her service to us. We really appreciated her service it was great. We will never go to this place again, when in Myrtle Beach. My brother inlaw told us we should have gone to the orginial bennetts. We will try that one the next time, but never again will we go to bennett III.

This resturaunt was very OVERPIRCED!! The food was average. It would be smarter to spend the 100 dollars that my family and I spent, on a sandwhich at Mcdonalds. I could not understand the waitresses acccent. The ice cream machine was out of order which is UNACCEPTABLE. The other deserts looked bad and were not kid friendly. The flounder was very good. The outside of the resturaunt smelled very horrid. I do not recommend this resturaunt to anyone. I would rather have been at Applebees. BTW I'm a 13 year old boy who just ate poop.

What a crap hole this turned out to be. Doing a search brought me to this place. Obviously you cannot go by all the internet reviews. Even standing in line, one person said that him and his family have been coming here for 7 years. Most of the items on the buffet were cold and un-appealing. Some items were never refilled and left with greasy empty pans. Do yourself a favor and avoid this bilge!

I must say that this restaurant provided a wonderful experience for my husband and I. We drive 2hrs+ just to eat seafood. We were going to another calabash for the past few years and were told to try Bennett's. We have and we love it!! The food is fresh, the restaurant is clean, and the lines are very much shorter. I feel like the price is a little steep, but I am willing to pay for quality. I enjoyed everything I ate (crab legs, shrimp, scallops, dessert) and I will come back again.

I have really mixed feelings about this restaurant. The service was pretty good. And we were seated immediatly. The food is absolutely wondeful. But I'm just not sure the price is worth it. I guess if you are going to eat the crab legs it great. But I kind of think it's pretty dumb to have to pay for the crab legs if you don't eat them. I am a seafood addict. But my husband hates ALL seafood. So to me for my food it was worth it, but he only ate one plate of the ribs and some sides. It was not worth the almost 22.00 he paid for it. They also need to make children under the age of 9 free. My little girl was free, she's only one. But I had to pay almost five dollars for my four year old son to eat a plate of macaroni and cheese. I'll probably go back here, but I won't bring anyone that doesn't like sea food.

My Wife and I went there Friday night. I had a stroke in June 08, they told us the price and thought it was fine and we told them that I cannot eat since I had my stroke, I did not have anything, my wife had the buffet and was charged $40.00, we figured that was her and me, She could not and would not leave me alone in our car, since I'm in a wheel chair and CAN NOT EAT anything. The rule from my Doctor is; NOTHING BY MOUTH. But that don't mean I can't take her places, just not here anymore Raleigh N.C.

If you have tried oll of the BIG all you can eat places, they just dont stand up to the quality of this place. Loved it. Very clean.

We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for five years, and one of our favorite restaurants is Capt. Bennett's seafood...The food is always delicious. The Crab legs were wonderful! When I got some fried oysters from the buffet and they was cold I told the waitress about it, and she informed the kitchen. About ten minutes later she come back with plate full fresh fried oysters that were AMAZING... The price is fine for what you're getting. Wonderful service! This is definitely not your average buffet style restaurant. Definitely try it!!!

Dude.... save your money and go out to a nice steak dinner or visit one of the table service sea food establishments. My wife and I and our two children shelled out over $80 for the buffet. The food on the buffet was just nasty. The prime rib was a joke. The steak was overcooked and greenish and the crab legs were just average.

I will say that the Baked Alaskan White Fish was amazing. By far, this was the best baked fish I have ever had! The deserts were good, too. Still, I can't get over paying $28/adult for a crappy buffet!

We were here in late Sept. 2007. It was my husband's first trip to SC. The one place he talks about the most was Calabash's. We both really enjoyed eating here. The buffet was wonderful, with the only minor detail was they did not replenish the empty dishes for awhile. I had eaten here on previous trips, but this experience was great also.

This was my worst experience of our vacation last year. We go to MB every summer and usually do not eat at buffets at home, or on vacation. We love seafood, so decided to give this place a try...bad decision. We are from Maryland, and anyone who lives in (or visits) the DelMarVa area, knows what good seafood is. This was the pits!!! All of the food was bland. It all tasted like frozen appetizers from the grocery store. Crabcakes were the size of golfballs, what a joke. We will NOT be wasting our money here this year!

I hated the food here! I ordered a platter of seafood scallops since im not a fan of buffets. They were terrible and tasted like grease. The only good thing our gruop ordered was boiled shrimp which were pretty good. Our waitress was very nice though and gave a great service. For the price of $93 for 4 people I expected something of better quality.

We just got back from Myrtle Beach for the first time ever going. I couldn't wait to get home to warn everyone not to go to this particular Calabash Buffet! Before leaving for this trip I investigated all the restaurants to go to based on these ratings. I didn't look up this one because it was a last minute decision made by my husband that was craving crab legs to pull in and try it. THE WORST RIP OFF EVER!!! Steep price of $22.95 for adults and we brought two under 12 yr old kids. $15.95 for with crab legs for one and $9.95 for the child that didn't want the crab. Fine if there was quality food we thought. Gross tasting everything. Crab legs were basically so tiny when you opened them there was a thimble of meat. All the shrimp styles to choose from were the tiny-tiny shrimps you find in a salad. We went up three times trying different things; hoping we would find something decent. NOPE! My six year old would only eat mashed potatoes because everything tasted "yucky". We all left hungry and disgusted. The bill came to $84.00??? Tax and drinks(woopy). Now compare this...Our last night we went to Broadway on the Beach and ate at Yamato'sJapanese restaurant which has chicken, steak, shrimp, scallop and lobster entrees. Comes with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, huge rice portion, vegetables, and choice of meet. Lastly, a dish of sherbet is also included at meals end. Huge Shrimp, very tasty marinades and dipping sauces. just excellent. All cooked before your eyes by an entertaining chef that cracks jokes, juggles cleavers, etc. Get this, the bill was $74.00 for 2 adults and 2 children with three alcoholic beverages. If you are craving real value and real seafood and quality meat GO TO YAMATOS!! I really never bother with surveys or posting reviews but I really wanted to warn the people that read these reviews they are telling the truth and so am I.

The food was pretty good. My main problem with the whole thing was that they had steamed oyasters on the bar, but did not provide oyster knives to open them with. We were told to use a butter knive. If you eat many oysters you know that a butter knife doesn't cut it when it comes to opening oyasters. I guess they don't want you to eat very many. Next time I will know to bring my own.

We were very disappointed and will never be back to Bennett's. The food was warm which made everything we ate very undesirable. Definitely won't be going back. It was a very high priced buffet for what we got. Hopefully there are better seafood buffets in the area, because this one was a huge disappointment. They have large quantity but very low quality.

We just took at trip to the beach (October 2007) and decided to try Bennett's Calabash one evening. We arrived around 7:45 pm. So, the food should have been fresh. Man were we dissapointed! We had terrible service. The chairs had wet stuff in them. The table was sticky. The hushpuppies tasted like doughnuts. The tea was terrible. The food wasn't fresh at all. The crab legs(which you had to pay for even if you didn't want them) could not be cracked! They were totally overcooked. The chicken fingers and the fried shrimp were so old and dry that you couldn't chew them. The only good food we found was the stuffed shrimp. The floor in front of the buffet was super slick with grease. We paid $21.95 each for the buffet. They charged us $4.95 for our 4 year old and then he couldn't even chew any of the food because it was so tough. Plus we had to pay for drinks on top of that. It was terrible and we will never ever ever go back. We will stick to the Original Benjamin's next time and be sure to have a good dinner.

Friday, September 07, 2007 - We tried Bennett's on King's Highway. Totally disgusting! We should have left as soon as we got there. The table had something sticky on it; the hushpuppies the waiter brought out had one swimming in the butter. You have to pay for crab legs whether or not you want them. The food was HORRIBLE! Some of the shrimp was decent at best. The other seafood was disgusting, the tomatoes on the salad bar were white on the inside, the tartar sauce was in a huge vat on one of the cold bars, and it tasted tainted, the TEA WASN'T EVEN ANY GOOD!! I have never in my life felt so ripped-off by a restaurant... it ruined my Friday night. I even felt sick afterward. Our bill was over $103.00 for 4 people for this AWFUL EXPERIENCE! NEVER AGAIN AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!

It was absolutely terrible. The crab legs were empty and the meats, including the grilled tuna were overdone and way too salty, and I love salty foods. The desserts were even gross. I can't believe they charged us $54 for 2 buffets at 3pm. We were so disappointed, my husband made me pay the bill because he was in denial about how much it cost. We love food, and love to eat, and are not that picky. This was an utter disappointment, and a terrible way to start our vacation. We were skeptical the rest of the time we were in myrtle beach, and ended up going to food lion to buy our own groceries. Way too overpriced and way terrible food..

This a favorite restaurant and visit frequently. Staff is attentive.Senior citizen platter is plentiful and the buffet is more then enough to satisfy anyone's craving. Excellant value for the money. This place get busy during the summer so come early and use the early bird coupons for extra value.

This place was OK. My husband loved the tuna-it had a special sauce on it. There's lots of variety. The food wasn't really "hot", just warm. This place was not a "do-again"--maybe I'm just not a buffet person.

We just visited the restaurant on Sept. 25, 2006 @ the Kings Hwy. location. We were very surprised to find that you had to take the crab legs even though you might not want them as part of your buffet. Next came trying the crab legs, they were so overcooked that the meat would not peel away from the shell. You ended up with very little meat off eat one and with it being overcooked then the taste was not good. Then we were into the desserts. The lemon pie was actually still frozen, not good to eat that way at all. Rather surprised all the way around with the quality of the food. After this experience we did not try any other locations that they have.

My family took a trip to South Carolina one winter and we stayed in Myrtle Beach. We went to Bennett's Calabash for dinner and fell in love with the food and the price. We have been coming back every year to vacation in Mrytle Beach so that we can eat here. We live in Florida and we were so pleased with the seafood that this year we are having a huge family vacation and instead of the usual 4 people we will be bring "17". And on the first day in town we will be coming here for dinner. I hope that you are ready for us. Keep up the great job and we will see you on July 1st. Thanks Calabash!

Bennett's has always been a favorite of ours when we visited and now that we're permanent residents of Myrtle Beach it is always on our list of favorite restaurants.

The senior citizen's platter was a much appreciated addition, and has just the right amount of seafood for those of us who are not large eaters.

The few times we have partaken of the buffet we found it to be quite good, hot and a varied selection of entrees to satisfy any diners craving.

We have been going to Bennett's Calabash Seafood for several years.

However, this year we experienced something that we have never dealt with before. We used our debit card to pay for our meal and after arriving home we checked our bank account and found that the tip we gave was changed to a higher amount.

We called back to let them know that this had happened only to be told that all banks charge you a 20% fee that you will be later reimbursed for.

I don't know about most people but I don't think that is the case. I would advise you to be very careful when paying with your debit card at this restaurant.
