Where do I start. My family and I come down to myrtle beach every year, we took a ride into calabash , thank god there are more restaurants to eat at other then this one. The service was average but they needed more on to work. It took a long time to get the food and when it finally came it was cold. I mentioned this to the young girl up front ,but she seemed not to really care. Next time we come down we will definitely go somewhere else..

My husband and I first ate at Beck's in 1992, and we have returned there every time we visit the Myrtle Beach area. BY far, it is our favorite place for seafood since we're not fans of the buffets. Beck's is a no-frills restaurant, but the food makes up for that. We usually order platters of fried shrimp, crab, etc., and they are wonderful. You get plenty for your money, too. The hushpuppies are always a highlight (be careful not to fill up on 'em before your food comes to the table)! We have brought other folks here before, and they come away loving Becks' and wanting to go back. We are looking forward to a return visit this summer.

My husband and I left had eaten at Bemini's in Myrtle Beach which left us wanting a better experience with seafood. We went through Calabash and didn't know where we would stop. Beck's caught our eye and we stopped and are hooked. It will become a routine stop from our Myrtle Beach trips to Wilson, NC. The food was excellent and fresh. The service is your expected small town restaurant style. You will get seated quickly, but it may take a little wait to take your order and get your food. However, it is well worth the wait!!! I highly recommend it. As stated, we will be back over and over again.

Eat here at your own risk. My husband and I were there 10/3/07, not in the busy tourist season. We always like to order take-out but that shouldn't matter the quality, etc. We both ordered different seafood platters, one oyster and the other scallops. We wanted tossed salad instead of cole slaw so we had to pay an extra 2.50 each for a very tiny tossed salad, which we could tolerate. We had to ask for tarter and cocktail sauce or they wouldn't have given us any. When we got back to our condo we saw that instead of the scallop platter there was Just fish. The oysters were tough and the french fries tasted like card board which were thrown away. My husband called the rest. when he found out we had been given the wrong order in hopes of some type of compensation. The manager was very rude saying all she would do was to re-emburse our credit card 1.00. It's now been almost 3 weeks and our credit card has not been re-embursed anything. We will never eat there again!!

The seafood at Beck's is very good and the price is much more reasonable than at restaurants in Myrtle Beach. The flounder and scallops are excellent. The service was very good too. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. Everything was good.

We left North Myrtle Beach not really knowing where we would eat. We ended up in Calabash. There were 5 of us eating, and we were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. We actually waited less than 10. The hush puppies were excellent, some of the best I've ever had. The food was served fresh, hot, and quickly to be as packed as the restaurant was. As another reviewer said, this is not a white tablecloth fine dining experience. But I had better fried shrimp at Beck's than anywhere else we ate in the Myrtle Beach area. I also had the largest portion, for the smallest price. A GREAT find for a short drive...and worth it!

The food was great, very fresh. The service, however, needs some work The waitress was accomodating but very blunt and obviously not a people person. I asked about a buffet and she told me that there were no buffets in Calabash and we "might as well go to Myrtle Beach". She was nothing in comparision to the lady behind the register. When my fiance when to pay the bill, she was on the phone and stayed on the phone. She didn't speak to him, but held out her hand to take the money. No one ever said thank you , come again or anything. WE will look for a place with fresh seafood and nicer people next time.

I've eaten at Beck's for over 30 years. It hasn't changed and I hope it never does. Whenever your in the Myrtle Beach area and are looking for excellent seafood my first recommendation would be Beck's. Don't expect to get that "big city" flair you might expect up north, but do expect to eat some of the best seafood you'll ever put past your lips. We have a vacation planned to MB in May and I'm already looking forward to that short drive north the where you'll get seafood (especially the Calash shrimp) at it's best. BECK'S.

Growing up in Wilmington in the 1960s, we'd drive the two-lane black top down to Calabash for Sunday dinner (lunch, for those not from the South). We tried the 5 or so other restaurants down there, but always went back to Beck's. Basic fare of small, wonderfully fried shrimp, cole slaw, and the best hushpuppies in the world. I went to college, then grad school, then lived overseas, then landed in Texas. Almost 30 years later, I drove back to Calabash...regretfully, now an extension almost of Myrtle Beach. But Beck's was still there--cindar block building, piping hot hush puppies, and little fried shrimp. That's what one should go to Calabash for! If you want "fancy dishes," white linen table cloths, and "servers" that know a wine list, this is not for you. But if you want want the Calabash used to be, the seafood that made it famous, etc., Beck's is the place.

We have dined at Beck's six times since we moved to NMB in Feb, 2006. We had tried other seafood restruants at Calabash for years but never tried Becks...It is by far the best. We will continue to dine at Beck's while trying others inbetween, to see if we can discover a seafood restruant any better.

I've been eating at Beck's for over 40 years, first with my parents on our annual vacations to N Myrtle Beach, then with my husband & kids whenever we could get to the NMB area for vacations. It's never disappointed. We were just there again last week & ended up eating there 3 times (because Steven's in Little River was closed). Their lunch specials are an excellent value & plenty of food. For dinner we ended up having a "senior" combo, which again was more than enough food for us - even a small "regular" platter is almost too much food. Fried shrimp, oysters & flounder were all wonderful, not to mention those hushpuppies - I took some home to my mom, who isn't able to travel anymore. We had no problems with service or wait time, probably mostly because of the time of year. We'll always eat at Beck's when we're in the area.

We're vacationing in Ocean Isle Beach for the first time, and landed at Becks the other night for dinner. We were looking for good seafood and hadn't done any research. Someone in our party of 14 picked Beck's at random I think. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated. It was a busy place, and having a large group probably didn't make it easier on the waitress, but the ordering process took a while, and the food took even longer to arrive (45 minutes). My broiled seafood platter was good, as were the steamed crab legs. The rest of our group had various fried seafood, and generally did not like their food, complaining that it was not hot, or not that good.

We're heading back to Calabash tonight to try an alternate seafood restaurant.

I don't think I would recommend Beck's at this time.
