I love this place though don't think it is good as it was with the previous proprietor. He always visited the tables. I have never seen the new proprietor so have no idea what he even looks like even though we go there 3 to 4 times a month.

My husband and I took a group of Michigan golfers to Abuelos last October. It was marvelous. We had all different appetites and attitudes with us. We were treated superbly. The food is very very good. Drinks were wonderful and the service was extra nice. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. My husband and I are locals and we frequent this place often. Have not been disappointed.

In our may 2012 trip to SC with family it was our third time to this restaurant over the course of two trips. And we will definitely go back on the next go-around. Food quality & taste are great with good value for money and portions are great! Look forward to the next time we visit on the boys golf trip in feb 2013!!

Sat in the bar for happy hour - 15 minutes before it started - waiter stated he could not put in orders before 4 - then left us... And never came back - at 4:15 another person finally came over and said she would help us..... 1 minute before we were going to leave. Food was ok - so food ok - good luck on the service end - try the main room - not bar.......

Fake precooked mexican food. Enchiladas were dry. Pork and Chicken. Waiter advised red sauces was very spicy. The salsa dip had more flavor and spice. Waiter did not bring appetizer, did not offer refills on drinks and did not even bring our meal or ask us how everything was! It appeared he was walking in bubble............. Ryan was his name We were in and out in under an hour! That included a 15 minute wait for our table. Not worth the bother.

My wife and I are visiting MB for the first time. We found Abuelo's driving around and thought it might be good. It was a Tuesday night, and we were seated immediately. Nice, clean interior. Our waitress was excellent and the manager checked on us as well. She even recommended some other restaurants in the area per our request. The chips and salsa were good and the entrees were very good. My guess is that we will probably go back before we leave.

My husband and I had lunch here. He ordered the pork taco with papas con Chile ( mashed cheesy potato) with refried beans and I ordered the soft taco (ground beef) with a enchilada and refried beans. Very yummy!! The raspberry tea is so good. This is truely the best Mexican food around this area. The service was great.

My wife and I ate at the Myrtle Beach location on 9/15/11. We have been coming here twice a year for the last 4 years. Last year we ate at this location and my wife's meal was not as good as previous years. We passed it off as a fluke. Yesterday I had a steak Chimichanga. Honestly it was terrible. I felt like I needed to throw up. The steak was mostly fat and there was no flavor. My wife also had the same issue with her meal. It seams that the ingedients are now inferior or the cook is just throwing these out to the customers. At this point we are considering not returning. Also, our waitress was very friendly but seamed to be more concerned with the gentleman behind us who we believe was an off duty employee having a personal issue with a woman. She would sit down and have an extented conversation with him rather than concentrating on her tables. Not good! This restaurant must improve dramatically before we will return

We go here every year... food is wonderful... tasty... and you get plenty for your money also. The only thing that I had a problem with is the pitcher of Margareta which I felt was a bit weak with the tequila. The server could be a bit more patient (I felt rushed). The chips n salsa was fantastic !!! Over all A-

Been in a few times now and the servers were ok but the last one was very short and impatient. If you have any questions keep them to yourself. Chips are great, margaritas come from a keg and they are tart and can be powder filled...food is too hot to eat when it gets to the table and chicken enchilada was 1 piece of chicken and the rest sauce.....so out of three visits the average is ok for the most part if you can overlook the somewhat testy wait staff....

I ate there during my last visit to myrtle beach (March, 2011) as a late dinner. I had the shrimp fajita nachos, which came out cold. After they took it back and stuck it under a heat lamp I ate part of it. I ended up getting sick later that night. We came in 45 minutes until close with a good amount of people still in the restaurant/still coming in, so I did not understand why the food came out the way it did. I was very disappointed with my dish, especially after getting sick. If I ate there again (which I wont) I would just eat taco's. Service was very good and atmosphere was one of an average mexican restaurant.

As a local Realtor, I enjoy taking my Clients here. They always enjoy their meals, especially the courteous servers. Out of "season" the wait time is short. You'll never leave hungry and probably take home enough for the next day!The decor is pleasant and parking is never a problem. The chips and Salsa (with separate dipping bowls), are always a good beginning and a big hit! Their frozen Margueritas are the best! The Manager usually stops by to welcome guests there...what a nice, Southern thing to do!

The Food was better than any Authentic Mexican Restaurant that we have in North East NJ. Second best Mexican food i've ever eaten, Second to Don Quijote in Old San Diego, Dustin was our server and by far the best service my family of 4 has ever received in any restaurant. Was on top of every possible need we had, I am a firm believer that good service makes the food taste that much better, Definitely the case here. I praise Abuelo's for their excellent service and food. Our next visit to Myrtle Beach we will be revisiting Abuelo's.

We visited Myrtle Beach and happened upon Abuelo's. Being born in San Antonio, TX, I have a lot of experiece with Mexican food, and I gotta say Abuelo's is OUTSTANDING. The food is wonderful. Also, the service was excellent. We enjoyed it so much the first night, we returned the next night. Both experiences were fantastic. Each night, the manager stopped by our table and greeted us, checked how our dining was going, etc. Of the three nights we spent in Myrtle Beach, the last two were topped off by great food at Abuelo's--thanks for a memorable experience.

We visit in April during a girls weekend getaway. The food was terrific, our waitress was very attentive, and the atmosphere was perfect. We did have a rather rowdy group beside of us - they were obviously annoying several other diners, however, nothing was ever said or done to quiet the table down. Overall, a great meal/experience. Will definitely return in June for our next visit.

Would not go back! Food was average! The server was not friendly, and did not smile the whole time! She acted like we were putting her out everytime we asked for something! There was some kind of pepper in their salsa and all of their sauces that I did not care for, which screwed up my whole meal. They forgot an item on one of my combo plates! Everything we asked for took forever to come, including drinks! Save your money for the price not worth it!

I can not believe the bad reviews some people have given for Abuelo's. The chips are always hot and crisp! The salsa is perfect AND they give you a small ramekin of really spicy salsa to add to the regular salsa if it is not hot enough. The entrees come out looking exactly like the menu picture. AND tasting even better! This is the perfect Mexican restaurant...a bit more upscale than most. The service is wonderful! Even if we walk in at 5 minutes til closing , we get treated perfectly!

My husband and I have been here for dinner two Friday nights in a row. It is a beautifully decorated restaurant, the service is great, and the food looks like it's going to be delicious when the waiter places your plate in front of you. But your heart sinks after that first bite. Everything else is so perfect that you expect the food to taste as good as it looks, but it doesn't. It was underseasoned and bland. We gave it a second shot tonight, but decided that next time we want Mexican food we won't be coming back to Abuelo's. However, if you aren't fussy it may be good enough to suit your taste.

I went to this restauran after a tiring day of shopping, with my mom ,aunt, and sister. This restaurant really tied it all together as a great day. I had ordered the chicken taco with curly fries. It was very good and tasty we got the different dipping platter and it tasted very good.especially the cheese! Our waitres took a long time to serve us, but it wasnt that bad all in all.It gave us time to catch up. The atmosphere was really good and everyone seemed really happy. They were all enjoying their food as well. It wasnt that much, but some things on the menu were a bit overpriced. Our bill didnt com to much for all that was served. We didnt have to wait to be seated which was great because it was a full house and we luved the ceiling. It was a little loud but it was very fun and festive.Good Job!

This restaurant serves quality mexican food and has a better menu than your standard Mexican with steaks, seafood and a high qualify of food than your standard. Everything is fresh, and the restaurant servers are kind and collected with large groups and families with large numbers. Excellent service and food. The chips and salsa are excellent!

The AAA guidebook indicates that vegetarians would find several options. NOT TRUE! They put bacon in both their refried beans and another bean dish, it's been my experience that most good mex restaurants (at least up here in teh northeast) have one bean dish that contains no animal products. I ordered veggie fajitas which were mostly just fried onions with two small piesces on bell pepper. Very disappointing.

I would never have guessed one of the best steaks I have ever had in a resturant would be in a mexican resturant!! Yummy. The Ribeye steak is the Best. The queso dip could use some improvement it is more like velveeta than good queso. The rest is so good.

Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant at the beach, We stayed in NMB but it is well worth the drive to Abuelo's!! Have been coming to MB for 20+ years and this is now a must for the future. I had Los Mejores De La Casa (excellent) and my husband had a special dish for the evening that was a combo (he loved it). Everything was well presented, attentive, creative and exceptional quality. It is definitely a unique Mexican restaurant with a beautiful setting, By the way, the tortilla chips were the best I've ever had - light and airy! The staff extends a warm welcome.

Our second visit to this fine Mexican Cuisine. I had a cold enchilada and they took care of it immediately and the manager deliverd the new plate which took less than 5 minutes so I wasn't waiting long while everyone else ate. We had a party of 6 and everyone was very impressed with both the service and quality of the food for a great value. I highly reccomend this place to enjoy Mexican food. There is usually a wait but it is well worth it.

I enjoy this restaurant. I like the fact that everyone gets their own bowl of salsa so double dipping is never an issue. The waitstaff is always attentive and spot on with their recommendations.

I enjoy the salad with grilled chicken at lunch. It has lots of extras from almonds to golden raisins. At dinner, I enjoy the fajitas as they are always good.

We always love eating mexican food but this place was a dissapointment. The tortilla chips were greasy and the salsa was blah. The vegetable fajitas lacked any seasoning at all. This is my little across the border heaven. This place is great. It is very beautiful in side, artistic and expressive. The service is fast, attentive, and amazing. I have never been dissapointed. My food has always been fresh and delicious. I love that they do not only have TEX MEX fare (i.e, chimicangas, burritos, nachos etc). Abuelos serves authentic dishes. Shrimp, tilapia, salmon, scallops etc. I reccomend going on FRIDAY. They have daily soup specials, and on Friday the special of the day is SHRIMP CHOWDER. I went with my fiance', who is not a soup person, and he loved it. The chowder is a perfect consistency and filled with fresh shrimp! It is sprinkled with a little cayenne pepper for spice and for presentation, so if you don't like this spice, tell them to hold the cayenne. My mother just called me from Columbia, asking me to go get the Shrimp Chowder and freeze it until the next time I travel up to see her!! The soup is that great!! Experience it for yourself. My only negative comment is that the drinks aren't worth the price...besides that, enjoy!

The food was the standard fare you would expect. However, the quality of food was not ! I was very dissapointed in the food. Left most of it on the plate - and declined the take home bag. Also we waited and waited for our order to be taken, then the food, then the bill. This wouldn't have been so unusual if the place wasn't also half empty !

We went to Abuelo’s this past weekend for our first time. We were with a larger party and we were expecting a long wait for a large table, but they were very welcoming and fit us in quickly. The atmosphere is wonderful and the restaurant was kept extremely clean even during the busy dinner time.

As soon as we had been seated our server was right over. The entire staff really took great care of us and they genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great meal. The food came out very quickly, especially for the size of our party. All of our food was hot, fresh, and even better then we had all expected. I tried the Enchiladas Cozumel and I will definitely order it again when I come back! There are also a lot of items for people who want something different then Mexican food, my husband tried the tilapia and it was so fresh! Save room for dessert because you have to try the flan!! This is now a new favorite of ours and we plan on returning real soon!

If you are in the Myrtle Beach area you need to try Abuelo’s, you will not be disappointed!

I've eaten there several times, and I have enjoyed myself during each experience. The food is always well prepared, and the price is great. The decor is brilliant! It's one of the most beautiful places to eat in Myrtle Beach. I am a manager for a few different oceanfront properties here in Myrtle Beach. We cater to lots of families, and definitely a lot of golfers too. I always recommend Abuelo's to both groups, and I will continue to do so in the future. This place is great. Definitely a must see if you're a local or a visitor to our town. Keep up the great work!

By just stepping in the door you are so amazed of how the restaurant stands out in just beautiful artwork. Just Beautiful! Getting to the food, The Los Mejores de la Casa, Best I ever had! If you go there, try it! You will not be disappointed! Service is outstanding! Looking for the best margarita in town, just swing by and get one. Also I just found out that on Wednesdays, they offer there house margarita for only $2.50 all day long. You will never find a house margarita this great! I know I can just ramble on and on about how perfect this place is for any type of dinner celebrating. So stop by and enjoy yourself!!

Just returned from another amazing vacation to Myrtle Beach and wanted to share just one component of what made this trip so amazing: the dining experience my family and I enjoyed at Abuelo's! I saw on Good Morning America that this was one of the top restaurants in the nation and just had to check it out (always the skeptic). I was not disappointed. We arrived just past 6 on a busy Friday evening and were told our party of six would have to wait 15 minutes. The place was packed, but we waited only 10 minutes until our table was ready. We were seated in a beautiful courtyard under this incredible life-like sky (our server told us the artist painted the sky and the murals in under two days!). Service was attentive and welcoming (I believe her name was Erin). I ordered the Talapia Veracruz (wonderful!) and my wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas. Nothing too spicy--just enough zest--but a word of caution: food arrives HOT and the plates are HOT! My brother and his wife shared the Grande (huge; looks like it's served on a turkey platter) and had a nice selection of seven different items. They said it was excellent, but refused to share. Our two friends ordered three enchilladas (I forget which ones, there were so many) and the pork chops (Erin said they were new to the menu and we're hoping they keep 'em: plump and juicy, not dry). An incredible dining experience! Great selection of drinks (margaritas, soft drinks, beers, etc.) and the desserts sounded wonderful (too stuffed to do more than share the caramel cheesecake, which was decadent). When we return in the fall, I promise to do appetizers and desserts on the outdoor patio (too hot in the summer) and try another margarita. Do yourself a favor when in Myrtle Beach: have lunch or dinner at Abuelo's. Yuo won't be disappointed and I'm sure you, like I, will promise to return. Can you believe this is a chain?! Absolutely fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere (Mexican music in the background) but with decent, reasonable prices. Reminds me of my trips to Mexico (only cleaner, and without the language barrier)! Kudos, Abuelo's!!!

We recently dined at Abuelo's last week, the food was absolutely horrible! I ordered the fajita chimichanga and was appaulled! My significant other ordered something that resembled crap on a plate. Our meals were luke warm if that and rather bland. We barely touched our food. Put it this way Taco Bell has this place beat. Seeing how we both work at golf courses a lot of golfers ask about fine restaurants on the Grand Strand, sorry Abuelo's, you are not one we recommend to them.

We just returned from a golfing vacation to Myrtle Beach and dined at Abuelos. It was wonderful. My wife had eaten at an Abeulos in Scottsdale, AZ a couple of years ago. We had actually driven to Garden City to a seafood restaurant that turned out to be closed for the season. Abuelos became an alternate choice, but it will definitely be a must stop on future trips to the beach. When we walked in the decor was fantastic, but I thought this is going to be expensive. But the prices are very reasonable for what you get to eat. My wife loved the vegetable fajitas and I a had a fajita chimichanga. It was delicious. If you like Mexican, you must try this place.

The atmosphere is one of elegance and sophistication yet it doesn't feel stuffy and uptight like some upscale resturants.

We will be going to Abuelos whenever we have guests in town from now on!!

We went out to Abuelo's last night after reading reviews here and let me say we were extremely impressed.

The restaurant is beautiful from the ceiling, wall paintings and statues. My husband and son said that even the bathroom was great, he said all that was missing was the man in the bathroom handing out towels.

The waitstaff was very good. They were very attentive that you didn't have to seek them out they were there with refills and asking if you needed anything.

The food was wonderful. My husband is Mexican and he got the Fajitas trio and said it was terrific, even said it compared to some of the food his mother makes, possibly even better. My kids loved it too. I had some of the papas con chili, wow those were great. Didn't care for the frijoles charro, but everything else was really good.

We defiinitely will be making this one of our regular restaurants.

We will definitely put it on our favorite restaurant list!

Food was excellent.

Loved the decor, and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

The service couldn't have been better.

I had the Mahi-Mahi, it had a nice taste of chilli-warm-ness [ not chili pepper ] but chillies -- something that is at times difficult to truely find. She had the grilled salmon and loved it. Fish was FRESH FRESH, Good veggies-excellent taco chips that are very light tasting. Go there now & enjoy. PS Nice ceiling--you'll see what I mean and clean restrooms.

We have retired in Myrtle Beach for 6 years, and had to go to Mexico to get a real Mexican meal. Abuelo's provides us the real taste and atmosphere of Mexico. The steak in the steak and enchaladas dinner is the best steak I have ever tasted. I'm 62 years old, and have been on many business trips to many of the finest restaurants. Our friends from Arizona go to Abuelo's restaurant in Phoenix and told us they are regulars there. Once they found out that Abuelo's was in Myrtle Beach, we all had to go when they visited last. We had a wonderful time. I hope they are around for a long time for us to enjoy.

When you walk in its like you walked into mexico it is incredible. The food for the price is ridiculously cheap and the service is outstanding. Abuelo's is the cream of the mexican crop anywhere you go.
